Happy 45th Anniversary!

Congrats, Y&R….my favorite soap of all time…..keep it up forevermore!!!!!! Love you!!

This is going to be so much fun to watch and catch up with old favorites that are coming back.

My favorite of the remaining four!

Love this! So excited for my fave show!!

Right, Kalamaty? I just wish Nick wasn’t relegated to janitor/handyman. LOL.

The way Nikki is reverting to her “stripper” mentality, don’t be surprised to find Nick isn’t Victor’s son! Wasn’t Brad Carleton a pool boy first? Maybe he’s Nick’s real daddy.

You wouldn’t complain if he were YOUR handyman!

@Ron.
Hey, Ron,
I find the entire situation disgusting….seriously….I’m no prude, but I could never understand why the writers keep doing this to Nikki.
While with Jack, this last time, she acted like a cloistered nun—no sex with Jack; from what I gathered.
I won’t repeat what my grandmother said (in her Scottish brogue)—not for the “hallowed” ears, LOL….she said something about Nikki sleeping with Victoria’s husband, Cole? Going back to her roots?
Nikki may be going through some kind of emotional-aging-shock…..she’s way past menopause.
Was Brad the Newman’s poolboy or the Abbott’s….before my time. My grandmother said the Abbott’s? She can’t remember.

Hi Celia, Brad was the Abbot’s pool boy…Well as we have said, Y&R is no longer the Y&R that we fell in love with…I am watching the show after I said I quit and it’s just a matter of time of when I do quit watching but looking forward to Jaime Lyn, Janice, Meg and others for the 45th Anniversary…

Oh, CeeCeeGirl! How I would love to be a fly on the wall when your Scottish gran lets loose on Nikki….I’m sure it is epic! And if she is aghast at Ms. Newman’s guttersnipe ways, then what must she opine of that perpetual and equally menopausal “alleycat with arrested development,” Alexis??? I’ll bet that is also truly unprintable…yet, certainly worth agreement….LOL! I do love those Scottish brogues…I’ve been watching Shetland and Outlander over these past few weeks and they are foremost in my mind at the moment. Did she view this latest season of Shetland? It was quite gripping….harrowing, but altogether enjoyable for those who like to mull over a mystery that actually has a definitive solution, you know, unlike those on GH! Cannot wait for Season 5…..

@Shay.
LOL. Shay,
I don’t know if you’d come out the ‘same’, or unscathed after a conversation with my Gran……your brain would be asking, ” Did she really say that?”….. and your ears would burn….
Never short of laughter, chuckles, sighs and groans when around her….tiny, little spitfire ( exactly what my husband calls me), LOL.
Nikki Newman? Well, Gran questions her ability to wrestle in bed with a strapping bairn ( whose mouth still smells of Mama’s milk) with her MS…..a very painful disease.
I think the writers forgot Nikki suffers from it.
And, yes, Gran does watch both shows….I catch a couple of episodes, now and then….
The older, true Scots are embedded in their culture….many still resent the Sassanachs…..a household name around here, LOL.
Later, carina…

Well, CeeCeeGirl, given that I possess some “Saxon” blood, I probably wouldn’t emerge unscathed after one of your Gran’s opining sessions, but they sound as though they would definitely be worth the risk! (Though I must say that Outlander’s Jamie sure makes the word “Sassanach” sound like the most loving and sexy compliment in the world! What a supercouple Claire and he are…OMG! Their sensual scenes certainly put those run-of-the-mill ruttings ala Julian and Alexis to shame…and no doubt the MS stricken Nikki and her boytoy, too!!!) But speaking of the reliably randy one, I did reply to your other post about her turning GH into “Sweet Valley High” with her juvenile love game posturings, but alas, it didn’t make it online and I suppose you failed to receive it either? Hey, you brought out too much of the naughty in me with your queries, I guess!!! At any rate, I believe I was also the party who made the crack about “Peter Parking Lot” on the Emmy page to which you alluded…I copped to it, but that comment also didn’t survive….yeah, I’m really batting 1000 here, mia amica! (Believe you me, a lot of my Emmy remarks didn’t pass muster….Lol!) Anyway, I still have yet to catch up on all things Port Charles…it’s hard getting back into the groove…I’m weary from all the Drew-Sam-Jason drama…Mrs. Cain needs to make her choice and stick with it…I like both actors with Kelly and so I really don’t have a home team for whom I’m rooting…. although I did like the earthquake scenes with Sam and Jason….whatever. This issue is being debated, dissected and argued to death and it’s boring me silly….how many more voluminous dissertations and Tiger Beat-style “Jasam and Killy” comments must we suffer through? It’s getting sooooo monotonous!!!! I care not about obsessed overaged fangirl sentiments but absorbing storylines and clever mysteries to ponder with actual outcomes that make sense ….like Shetland’s! Have you seen the last episode??? What a bittersweet ending…. I LOVED the homage to Outlander with Thomas’ final shot ala Angus Mhor! I will say no “more” in the event you have yet to watch it, CeeCee, but do let me know when you see it! Oh well, must be going now…just wanted to get back to you in the one place that we were able to create an actual dialogue! Later!

@Shay.
Hey, Shaybelle,
You know what the irony is with Gran? Hmmmmm—she did the DNA kit? She received the results yesterday….she is 37% Sassanach!!!!! You cannot imagine the look on her face….such a rich moment. HaHa!!
As far as The Perils of Calamity Sam, I heave and heave and heave until I get acido ( heartburn)….this idiocy has traveled to the moon and back, in light years.
If I were Jason or Drew, I would not want one-half of Sam….maybe men are different? But, I’d think it’s all or nothing, yes? I’d want my spouse to love me wholly and fully.
However, I got a break from watching her mother spend her time at Charlie’s…..if my husband ( and I do not care how much or everywhichway the PTB explain the delinquent ‘incident’ away) had done to me what Juliarse did to her? I’d avoid him like the plague. I think she’s enjoying the jealous attention….what is the point? I’ll tell ya, bell’amica…..Alexis and Julian will end up together.

Lets hope in the 46th year they either kill off the character of Devon or recast a man!

HaHa, T….too funny. Well, he seems to be man enough for Hilary…… she wants a baby; yesterday!!

Ryan Paevy can act circles around this dude!

Your Grandma was right, Brad was the Abbott pool boy. I dont think the Newman’s ever had a pool and if they did, The Mustache would have had it filled with sharks!

@Kevin C.
Thanks, Kevin….please stay on…..I did miss you ….glad you’re back.
I’m looking forward to seeing past characters/ actors/actresses, as well.
Later, my friend.

Nah, my Timmmy….”ain’t” no one more ‘handy’ and gorgeous than my husband….Nick comes pretty close, though. HaHa!!

They will not and if I told you why you would freak out I really would love a Hillary / Kyle hook up it would kick start some crazy action but I do not see that happening I live the actress she is so gorgeous and she just needs a decent partner

Hi Kay, I also think Mishael is a stunning woman and a wonderful actress and your idea of Kyle is wonderful…

I love Hilary, too, Kay……she’s the most real and authentic actress/character on the show.
I am rethinking my liking for Lily….she has become a busybody where Devon and everyone is concerned….Can’t trust Hilary?, says she, who went back to that fake-executive-with-no-formal-education, free-loading husband of hers….
And, yes….I would loooove to see Hilary and Kyle paired up…..and tell Devon to go su*k an egg.

For me, Hillary is the most skilled actor on the program; not to belittle any of the others. I admire them all. Often wondered, however, why she hasn’t been drawn away as Justin Hartley was.

It could be interesting to see her walk through the process she and Devon are proposing. Immediately they are hitting the legal issues. There could be years of storylines as they discover that the best laid plans can go askew. This is something different from a divorce, but the story is cutting it close.

Thanks, T, my sooooo good friend….Gran’s memory is pretty sharp…..better than mine. But, she does second-guess herself, sometimes….don’t we all?

I have been a watcher on and off since the mid-eighties and fell in love with the show since. My only hope is for Esther and Jill to share some kind of a “Katherine moment” for old times sake. I know Jess Walton is semi-retired, but I am hoping she will grace her fans with her charm and talent. Here’s hoping for another 45. Congrats!!!

I’d like that myself, Soapqueenforever…..we need that and more…..a twist, and a good one.
Victoria is getting the bashing of her life. But, this goes so much deeper, where Ashley is concerned.
Ergo, the twist…..
I think Ashley has changed…..she’s so hard…..her issue has been slowly creeping upon her. I have noticed a very nasty streak within her, where she went into the Newman Enterprises with the intention of taking over; burying Victor. That’s the vibe I felt….I think Victoria sensed it and tried to zap her, before it became too late.
Perhaps, I have read Ashley and Victoria wrong, but I doubt it was jealousy on Vic’s part….only concern for the family company.
Surprisingly enough, why hasn’t Victor’s sharp wizardry pierced through Ashley’s ‘witchcraft’……or Victoria’s, for that matter.
Is he losing the gift of smell? I think Ashley is a rat and her ‘intent’ was camouflaged by Victoria’s mischief. Ashley has free rein, now….if she remains, she will take over as CEO….no one will question her motives, from here-on-in.

Congrats for 45 I have not always been happy with the stories but wish you the best in the future!

Y&R has always been one of my favorites and just wish it was written like the old days, so many pieces are missing in the way Mal is writing the show along with dreaming that the beautiful classic background music would return, DID I SAY THAT?

By the way, I love all the actors/actresses on the show…HAPPY 45TH ANNIVERSARY.

FYI : They should have let Sally and Kay time to work their magic they are down viewers again it takes time to repair ten years of destruction.

Hi K/kay, I AGREE WITH YOU 100%…CBS/Sony mistake in letting Sally and Kay go…

Yes read the recap of Monday so I guess Nick who lives off women is going to yank that baby out from Sharon again he is a snake so I guess I wish them well but not up for a Phyllis / Nick reunion . Poor SC she still can’t get a break

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

It’s a milestone we couldn’t let pass by without taking some time to celebrate as a family (and, of course… eating some cake). 🍰 We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.”

WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE 16,000th Episode?

Stay tuned for the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy nominations tomorrow on Tuesday, July 14 to find out if GH will be going for gold in the category, once again.
