Y&R Preview – Week of November 26, 2018
Whats coming up next week in Genoa City? For the week of November 26th look for Nick (Joshua Morrow) to have to make a major decision when it comes to having Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) live with him and carrying on their affair, or the possibility of rekindling his relationship with Sharon (Sharon Case). When Sharon shows up at Nick’s and finds that Phyllis has moved in with him, Sharon is not one happy camper. What will Nick’s next move be?
Meanwhile, Victoria (Amelia Heinle) is turning the tables on Tessa (Cait Fairbanks), and using some ‘Newman’ intimidation tactics to ensure Tessa has no more proof that she and the other women killed J.T.! But will what Victoria does next backfire on her?
And, Devon’s (Bryton James) little sister, Ana Hamilton is all grown up and come back to Genoa City. Will she be causing more trouble for her brother than he bargained for? And is Devon spiraling into addiction? From the looks of the latest promo from CBS Daytime below, that could be the case.
Here’s what to watch for:
Monday, November 26
Nick is caught between Sharon and Phyllis.
Tuesday, November 27
Nikki connects with Victor.
Wednesday, November 28
Devon receives an unexpected visitor.
Thursday, November 29
Summer sets her sights on a new challenge.
Friday, November 30
Billy conspires with Kyle.
Let us know which storyline you are looking forward to seeing most via the comment section below. But first check out a this Y&R video promo.

The JT story line is incredibly stupid. We have yet to be given a viable explanation as to why four intelligent women decided to not call the police when Nikki rushed in to save her daughter from harm. Their explanation as to why they did not call the police is idiotic at best. Phyllis, who took on the role of leader, is one of those annoying know-it-alls who knows nothing and Curly, Larry and Mo followed her moronic directive. Making Tess the blackmailer made this story even more irritating and tedious. This story needs to be wrapped up ASAP.
Also, I resent like hell that a legacy character of 40 years has vanished from the canvas with nary an explanation as to where he went. Suddenly Rey is occupying Paul William’s office and no one talks about it. Unless Y&R is trying to enter the science fiction genre, this is an example of reckless, disrespectful and sloppy writing. Doug Davidson and his character Paul Williams deserved better and so did the viewers.
Something similar is occurring with Neil Winters. Suddenly his God son Nate is stepping into situations which would normally feature Neal acting as the strong and wise patriarch of the Winters’ family. Now we have monotone Nate coming in to dispense advice to Lilly, Duh Yawn and Cane instead of Neil. To compound the aforementioned problem, the young man who plays Nate cannot act, and he has zero personality. Truly, my cactus plant is more exciting than he is. Moreover, Duh Yawn is a boring, somnolent character whom no one cares about–stick a fork in him, he’s done. In fact, he was done 10 years ago.
On a positive note, the actor they found to play Kyle Abbott is a huge score–this young man can act and the screen just sparkles with his charisma when he is in a scene. He also seems like he could really be Jack Abbott’s son–he acts and looks like a young Jack Abbott! I love him with Lola, the hard working girl who operates a food truck trying to make a name for herself.
I am glad Jack has been finally given a love life but the actress who plays Carrie is only twenty-nine years old. I am not an ageist by any stretch of the imagination but I wish they could have found someone a little bit closer to Bergman’s age. I recall Bergman said in an interview with Mr Fairman that the reason they cannot find an actress in his age range is due to budgetary concerns. I always thought he would be terrific paired up the Kassie Depaiva but alas, I think she’s too expensive.
I wish I could be more positive but Y&R’s has failed to: 1.Treat their legacy actors with respect. 2. Write character driven storylines 3. Focus more on the talented actors who play interesting characters we care about rather than focusing on the ones (both old and new) who suck the oxygen out of the room .
Brilliant post, Harry. You hit every target! Phyllis’ incessant bullying got them into this mess and yet she and Nikki are STILL threatening Sharon about how HER life will be over if they’re uncovered! Seems to me like Sharon has the least to worry about, Miss Multiple-Murderess Nikki! Nate, Mia, and Rey are DISASTROUS characters with no charm and nearly ZERO sex appeal. Paul should be welcomed back with a major apology…to us and to Doug Davidson. Jack’s new icy romance is a joke but you are so right about Michael Mealor. He’s a terrific find and is a magnificent Kyle. I love the way he’s putting Summer in her place, finally! All in all, I am despairing over the current state of things. Perhaps more of Beth Maitland and Victoria’s “handling” of Tessa will liven things up. How little we cling to these days.
Harry, you presented a Thanksgiving dinner here! What a ton of “food for thought.” Your final points were the dessert!
To begin, what in the world were the set designers thinking when they created Nick’s new “mansion.” Did he really think Sharon would want to live in a bachelor pad of some 10,000 sq feet? How ridiculous.
I’m sensing (ha ha) that Carrie will eventually be involved with Nate (or will it be Ana for him?) Either case, the dull acting and duller character development will tank the formula.
The last good thing I saw on this show was the Abbott family meeting, the night Ashley left. And that seems like months ago.
I’m still guessing JT was not really ever dead and he somehow clawed himself out of the grave (or someone helped him.) It seems like the only “rational” explanation for a mess of a storyline to appropriately conclude. If you recall, JT was seen at a doctor’s appointment only a few weeks after he resurfaced in Genoa City. We were to believe something was up with his health (hence, a low pulse could make him appear dead to the 4 Stooges you coined so aptly… which one is Shemp?) Something out of a good Shakespearean drama– alas, the Bard did it so much better!
And, what was that garbage with Esther wanting to do makeup for a last second bailout for Phyllis? More wasted time and more wasted characters. And, what company in any part of this country (I’m from the midwest, mind you) would ever give no credentials Phyllis a CEO position? Sink holes– that’s what is becoming of our beloved show.
Bill Bell would have SLOWLY ushered in characters for us to become involved with, to grow to know and care for, root for and tune in to. The entire shove-it-down-our throats-approach makes me choke. For this reason, I care nothing for the new Hispanic family. Although, I like the pairing of Lola with Kyle… it’s got that West Side Story kinda thing going on… sans the violence. I do hope Lola stops rolling her eyes so much because she can be a keeper.
As for Mariah, one of my favorite characters– get her out of this Tessa messa! She’s so much smarter than this situation they’re putting her into with the grifter.
As for Devon– I never liked the character… and money did him no good.
Wondering when the writers will realize snow arrived on the Wisconsin/Illinois border the past 3 weeks! And, with some major dumpings– somehow GC escaped it.
It’s a soap. Viable explanations are optional.
This was a joy to read. Didn’t agree with everything, but the review was just so delightful.
Why Paul is just missing is almost not forgivable. The entire program has shifted. I find myself watching with less fast forwarding, but struggling about where I am.
So much agreement with the stupidity of the JT storyline. Get over it.
Think I just discovered that one cannot review what has been written, so must conclude. However, wish Jack could have found a more mature woman, find Lola easy to view, Nick’s new home absurd, and find too many new introductions. Can’t tell if it is the acting or the writing that makes us not like Phyllis. Mariah has been my favorite; what is it about her that translates into something “real.”
Lastly where I diverse from much read is regarding Kyle. Because sometimes it seems some of those who write here work in the business, I do not, they see things not available to me. I am beginning to appreciate Kyle a bit more, but he doesn’t “knock my socks off.” Thanks everyone!
When I read that preview breakdown, I’m only slightly intrigued. I like Victoria’s “take no prisoners” attitude about the duplicitous Tessa, and I like seeing Nick in those nice suits. Otherwise, I neither want nor need ANOTHER big storyline for Devon, I dread the return of Ana, and the Nick/Phyllis “horny teenager” behavior is anything but hot. Now, Billy conspiring with Kyle DOES interest me. Phyllis needs to vacate that chair NOW. I don’t care how successful she keeps claiming to be. And take that wall of ice named Kerry with her. Seriously, Jack, you can do better.
Hey, Soaphound,
Perhaps you are right about the “Abbott” conspiracy to oust Phyllis…..problem with me is; I can’t stand either Billy or Kyle. I would like to send them, Phyllis, Devon, Nate, the Ashby kids, the chemist, the Rosales ‘team’ on a neverending cruise to the Landofnoreturn. Did I miss anyone?
❤️
The new chemist is AWFUL and has no chemistry with any of the characters. She is as cold as ice! I watched 5 minutes of Monday’s show and it was terrible. Agree with you about Devon and Nosy Nate!
Hi Celia dear. I’ll make a deal with you. Leave Kyle, flush Tessa and we’re good. That scene of Mia and Rey in bed? And here I was, fresh out of airsick bags. It wasn’t pretty.
Hi, my friend,
OMG!!!!!! I can’t believe I missed the boudoir scene, Soaphound!!!! There was a scene? I have missed a few eps—–OOOOOO!!!!!! Now that you told me, I NEED to search through recorded eps. I will make my husband watch. HaHa!!
I’ll make sure to have plenty of barf bags, albeit THE scene will go right over my husband’s head–he ‘kinda’ makes fun of me. LOL.
❤️
EEEWWW, it was so not good!
LOL, AVP…….I haven’t watched it yet, however, I don’t want to watch it for its “greatness”….. I want to get a few laughs….Mia is far from being the sexy femme fatale—-she does not have that IT factor…..even for me, a woman, it is clear she does not fit the “meow kitty” role…. and Rey is no stud either.
What strikes me as weird is how times have changed. I guess having had one boyfriend since I was sixteen, then marrying him, makes me old fashioned…but, what’s wrong with being a virgin? I thought men appreciated the privilege of being THE first.
Virginity has gone out of style……
Therefore, Kyle can’t handle the ‘feat’? Woah!! He can’t “lead” the “dance”? What a man!! Stupid writing…..it makes Kyle look like a scaredy-cat jerk. ….(sorry Soaphound….LOL❤️).
I like LoLoLoLo-ola…..she has spunk and that innate quality that is so-very-needed on this show. The rest of her “family” are a circus side-show, with Mia as the ring-leader. How long will she be in town? Will she want a taste of all the men in GC?
Hmmmmmm- the insatiable Marie Antoinette?
Celia!
You missed the booking the writers.
They need to get rid of writer Mal Young he is destroying the soap. 14 people have left or been fired in 18 months.
YES! The show is unwatchable!
Agreed, AVP. I finally watched the entire episode. I honestly believe what I wrote about Tessa. ( this, also, gives me the chance to correct my sentence. I changed the wording, so I said ‘for she and Crystal….without realizing it….for her and Crystal)…. anyway, the show had been doing ok until the Rosales invaded Genoa City. I want to pull my hair out from the frustration.
I can’t take it. When will these flat stories end? When will the JT’s death ‘ saga’ end? If the body is not in the makeshift grave, chances are he clawed his way ‘outta’ there…….unless….unless Victor knew and got rid of the body himself.
One way or the other….please end it!!
I, also, noticed that Mia looks so much better without so much makeup. She looks much younger than I originally thought.
The Rosales’ Invasion is DREADFUL to watch. I despised JT, and am sick to death of hearing about him!
I have only recently started watching again. I loved the Abbott storyline for Ashley’s send off. I am also loving the Rosales family.
I can’t wait for Tessa to get her just deserts —-I’d rather use “desserts” for effect? LOL…..I can just taste it–pardon the pun!!
Is it possible for she and Crystal to have orchestrated every mishap thst came their way? Is Crystal really Tessa’s sister? Her lover? Were they and Zach a team and when ‘situations’ became risky ( that is, fear of discovery), Crystal killed Zach? Is he really dead?
I am not interested in Devon’s life and family—the only redemption would be if Little Sister has a magnificent voice, but at the same time, not sing rap , LOL….
Nick and Phyllus is a bad idea. Jack and the chemist is a bad idea. She’s a hortible actress. Jack and Phyllis should be together again. Perhaps the reason for going red again is because the PTB are moving towards that direction. Jack has already started calling her “Red”….. the door is ajar.
I am not into Billy or Kyle, or Summer. So, whatever they do is of no consequence to me…
Happy watching, everyone!!❤️
I have to agree this show is going down the tubes for me. Getting rid if all the good actors and bringing in these young, don’t know how the act characters, what ever for? And dragging out storylunes is getting to be a bit boring too. There is no way 4 women can kill someone, bury them, dig them up and move them, I mean how crazy is this. Guess I will have to stick with my Gunsmoke shows, at least they have decent actors. Do something else to perk up our Soap!!

Y&R Preview: Matt Clark Asks Phyllis on a Date, Would You Be Down for the Pairing? Roger Howarth & Michelle Previously in GH’s Franco/Nina Romance

The Young and the Restless seems to be toying with a potential romance between amnesiac Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). Now, on all-new episodes of the top-rated soap opera, the official Y&R Preview for the week of June 22-26, shows a moment where Matt attempts to ask Phyllis out on a date!
The two are sitting at the GCAC having drinks. Suddenly, Matt says. “Once upon a time, there was a man who had no memory. And he met a woman. And then he asks her out on a date.” Phyllis looks at first confused, but then inquisitive? Would Phyllis even dare go out with Matt given what he has done to the former love of her life and father to her daughter, Summer, the one and only Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow)?
If Y&R head writer, Josh Griffith does plan to go there, does Phyllis somehow fall in love with this guy, because she did see him come to the rescue of Nick when he OD’d? But, would Phyllis date Sharon’s (Sharon Case) rapist?

GENERAL HOSPITAL’S FRANCO AND NINA
This isn’t the first time that Daytime Emmy winners, Roger Howarth and Michelle Stafford have appeared on a soap as a romantic pairing? Look no further than then January of 2016 when both appeared on ABC’s General Hospital, when after months of dancing around their sexual tension, Franco Baldwin and Nina Reeves had sex. The two characters had quite the unstable past which drew them together.
After the sex scene aired on GH, and the series moved the relationship between the duo (known on social media as #nico) forward, Michelle Stafford spoke to Michael Fairman TV where she shared on working with Howarth.
At that time, Stafford expressed, “What woman doesn’t want to see Roger Howarth on-screen? He’s super sexy, and that is just that! (Laughs) With Roger, I am going to get a really great actor to work with, who likes to play, and really can act. I appreciate that about him. I am just really interested to see what the writers are ultimately going to do with these two characters.”
When addressing, why it took so long for Franco and Nina to hit the sheets, Stafford acknowledged, “You have to address it, because the audience is going to go, ‘Why are these two hot characters not ‘doing’ it’ These are two adults. It doesn’t make sense. They are so in love, and they are not consummating anything. So, when they made Nina so insecure about it, and being able to communicate to Franco how she felt, I thought, ‘OK, this works.’ She was scared, and that’s true. We are all scared when we sleep with someone we love for the first time. There is not one person who does not feel that way. I loved that about her. The woman in the audience really responded to that. They loved that there was a character who was afraid to hop in bed. It was refreshing to them, and that was the consensus.”
Y&R’s MATT AND PHYLLIS STAND A GHOST OF A CHANCE AT ROMANCE?
Take a look at the Y&R video preview for next week below.
Then weigh-in; do you want Matt and Phyllis to date and begin some semblance of a romantic relationship? Did you enjoy Roger Howarth and Michelle Stafford when they were paired as Franco and Nina on General Hospital? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section.

GENERAL HOSPITAL Promo: Rocco’s in a Panic as Britt’s Health Takes a Turn, Chase is Called to the Carpet
This week on General Hospital, who’s a fool, who’s a savior and who will avoid capture? That’s the questions that the latest video promo from the ABC daytime drama series offers up for episodes airing June 15-19.
First, after being taken to the PCPD, Tracy is fuming mad that Chase (Josh Swickard) once again believes in his ex-wife Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) word. This time, Willow claimed she was pushed into the water at the Quartermaine boathouse by Tracy (Jane Elliot). Now, racy tells Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Justine (Nazneen Contractor), “Willow Cain threw herself into the lake and this fool fell for it.” We already know, Justine has been side-eyeing Chase of how he repeatedly has taken the law into his own hands concerning his ex-wife. Will Chase EVER get a grip and realize Willow is a manipulative woman capable of heinous crimes?
Next, Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) comes loaded for bear to Carly’s (Laura Wright) along with two men from the WSB. He tells her that.“We have reason to believe that Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) is on the premises.” Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) is also there at the time and the two could not look more nervous or suspicious if they tried. Is Valentin already searching Wyndemere for Josslyn (Eden McCoy) at the time of Cullum’s unexpected arrival at Carly’s, or is he still hiding in her attic? Stay tuned.
