Days Of Our Lives

DAYS Billy Flynn Delivers The ‘Power Performance of the Week’

Let’s just start this by saying if you missed last Thursday’s episode of Days of our Lives on Peacock, you missed beautifully touching and effective performances by both Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera) and Marci Miller (ex-Abigail).

Leading up to it, Chad had a gut-wrenching week.  He figured out that Clyde (James Read) was the culprit that murdered his wife and later confronted him.  That led to key scenes where Chad confronts Clyde at Abigail’s gravesite and wants to hear all the gory details of how Clyde stabbed his wife, and then learned how the criminal covered his tracks, went after Sonny (Zach Tinker) and stabbed him, and framed Leo (Greg Rikaart) for the crimes.

Throughout the reveal, Billy Flynn played all of Chad’s pain and horror, while holding a gun at Clyde baiting him on – problem was Clyde is so despicable he had no problem telling Chad the grisly truth.  During a struggle for the gun with Chad, it is EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) who saves the day and shoots Clyde.  The two brothers bond over their shared disdain for Clyde.

Later at the Salem PD, EJ apologizes to Chad for bringing Clyde into their lives and for what happened to Abigail.  Chad takes it in but does not explode, rather appreciates his brother for saving his life.

However, the emotional rollercoaster that Chad went through, and the audience, in the expert hands of Flynn, was nothing compared to the heartbreaking scenes where Abigail visits Chad at her gravesite, now that he solved the murder mystery.

Abigail is proud that Chad found her killer and tells him that she wants him to love again and that it’s OK to move on.  She knows he will always love her, and she will always love him.  Then, when Abigail asks Chad to tell her what traits their children, Thomas and Charlotte, possess that remind him of Abigail, it was very tender and not overplayed.  When it was time for their final goodbyes, both Flynn and Miller reminded us all why #Chabby was one of the best duos in DAYS history.

In the end, it was Billy Flynn who carried the ball all the way to the end zone and scored a touchdown in the conclusion of Chad and Abigail’s love story.  It is always a nice to see when DAYS decides to write for and feature material which plays to Flynn’s strengths, and this did.

So, for all the reasons stated above, Michael Fairman TV names Billy Flynn’s work as the Power Performance of the Week.

What did you think of the Chad and Abigail goodbye scenes at her gravesite? What did you think of Billy’s performance and the reveal that Clyde Weston was Abigail’s murderer? DANCING WITH THE STARS: Trevor Donovan, Wayne Brady, Daniel Durant & Gabby Windey Impress Judges On ‘Elvis Night’

In the second episode of Dancing with the Stars new season exclusively on Disney+, it was ‘Elvis Night’ and the couples put on a show for the judges performing to songs by ‘The King of Rock and Roll.”

Before the stars and their pro partners hit the ballroom floor, hosts Tyra Banks and Alfonso Ribeiro, revealed that since dancer, Daniella Karagach tested positive for Covid-19 Sunday night.  Therefore, her celebrity partner Joseph Baena had to mask up through the evening and perform his planned routine with a temporarily replacement, Alexis Warr. As well, a few others in the cast who were noted to be in close proximity of Karagach, also wore masks during the live show and their performances.

Here’s a rundown of a few of the performances that wowed the judges for various reasons.

Trevor Donovan (ex-Days, 92010) and Emma Slater – The duo danced the Rumba to the Elvis Classic “Always on My Mind.” Donovan, who keeps letting us know in the pre-package that he is not comfortable as a dancer, did a complete 180 from opening night and delivered what the judges deemed a very sexy routine with Emma. The judges (Carrie Ann, Bruno, Len and Derek) were impressed by Trevor’s hip rotation, his arm extensions through the dance, and of course his abs! Derek Hough said it best in his feedback to Donovan following the routine, “Remember when you were scared of dance? You love dance.” Score: 30 out of 40

Wayne Brady (ex-The Bold and the Beautiful, Let’s Make a Deal) and Witney Carson –  Dancing the Jive to “Burning Love”, Brady, who is great at impersonations anyway, brought some of the Elvis moves, facial expressions and ticks to the routine. In the pre-package, Wayne revealed he has trouble with one of his knees. The performance was highly-entertaining given the choreography and closed the show.  The judges told Wayne to pace himself and protect his knees, because he is a wonderful dancer and they want to see him make it through the entire season. Score: 30 out of 40

Gabby Windey (The Bachelotette) and Val Chmerkovskiy – The dance duo took to the floor to perform a classic Viennese Waltz to “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” During the pre-package, Windey, who is also a former Denver Broncos cheerleader, felt she was ‘lost in space” doing so many twirls, but she clearly got it all under control and with Val by her side, her new fiancé Eric Schwer in the house. Val and Gabby delivered a stellar performance.  The ending of the routine was punctuated by Windey walking over to Schwer, who entered the edge of the dance floor, to give him a smooch. Score: 32 out of 40

Daniel Durant and Britt Stewart – Taking on Elvis’ “King Creole”, this dance duo performed the Jive.  It is amazing to witness from the pre-package to the actual performance, how Britt communicates with Daniel, who is deaf, and how Durant is able to feel the vibrations, watch Stewart’s face and inhabit a character so well, without barely any missteps. The most noticeable, and the most difficult challenge posed to Durant, is dancing in the side-by-side sections where precision/synch is always favored upon by the judges. In the DWTS audience were Durant’s CODA co-stars, Oscar Winners Marlee Matlin and Troy Kotsur, rooting hm on. It was an impressive performance! Of note: how much did we love Durant’s two moms showing up in rehearsal and dancing some moves from the routing with him! Score: 29 out of 40

WWE SMACKDOWN: Roman Reigns Officially Makes Sami Zayn ‘Honorary Uce’ In Heart-Stopping Moment

Talk about your soap opera and great performances!  Last Friday’s WWE Friday Night Smackdown on Fox featured what could go down as a classic opening segment involving The Head of the Table/WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns and tag-along member of the ‘Bloodline’, Sami Zayn.

With the entire Bloodline in the ring and present (The Usos, Solo Sikoa, Paul Heyman, Reigns and honorary member, Zayn) it set the stage for a potentially dangerous situation for Zayn.  Even though Sami is a heel, the fans were in Zayn’s corner for this every step of the away, if you just listened to the pop from the crowd.

Photo: Fox

First, Reigns demanded for Solo Sikoa to acknowledge him, since the youngest members of the Usos is the new enforcer of the Bloodline. Solo did just that in short order, and as the group was preparing to make their ring exit, Zayn stopped The Bloodline as he wanted his chance to acknowledge Reigns as his Tribal Chief, too.  That prompted Reigns to question Zayn as to why he was up in their business and wearing the ‘Bloodline’ t-shirt.

Suddenly, it became apparent that Zayn was going to be set-up to be the victim of a beatdown by the family. The moments were so tense that you honestly could not have guessed which way this was going to go – but things were looking bleak for Sami.

Reigns verbally assaulted Zayn for hanging around and wearing ‘The Bloodline’s’ shirt. Roman ordered Zayn to take off the shirt as Zayn’s enemy number one, Jey Uso, demanded the same thing of him.  Next, Uso ripped the t-shirt off Zayn and the audience was scared for Sami.  However, Reigns instead presented Zayn with a new t-shirt making him officially an “Honorary Uce”.  For those who wondered, “uce” is the Samoan slang term for “brother”.  Touched and relieved, Zayn celebrated the moment with Jimmy Uso, Sikoa and then, even hugging Reigns, while Jey Uso looked on mad-as-all-get-out.

The story arc was played brilliantly by Reigns who can play disingenuous like nobody’s business, and Zayn, who can play drama and comedy as the “Bloodline” wannabe.

There are several story angles that could stem from this – one being the obvious – a feud between Jey Uso and Zayn- plus, just how long Sami will be included in the Bloodline, before it all goes south on him.

You can watch the segment below, and then a hilarious video posted on Twitter by Zane on Sunday to Kelly Clarkson’s “A Moment Like This.”

So, did you think the Bloodline was going to turn on Sami? What did you think of Zayn and Reigns work in the opening segment of WWE Friday Night Smackdown? Share your thoughts via the comment section.
