Jana’s jealousy of Kevin and Chloe grows when she sees the newest cover of Restless Style with the two of them on it and she rips it up. At Gloworm, while trying to help Gloria with her new electronic registers, Kevin is blindsided when Gloria gives Kevin his divorce papers from Michael just as Chloe arrives with the new issue of RS. Overwhelmed and uncertain about what he wants, Kevin walks out on Gloria and Chloe, who are advising him to close the door on his marriage. Later, Chloe ends up consoling Jana when she breaks into tears over losing Kevin. Victoria prepares to tell Nikki the news about her and Billy’s new home. At the ranch, after a sleepless night, Nikki admits to Victor that she was suddenly hit with the urge to drink and wonders where it came from. Meggie listens out of sight, secretly thrilled that her plan is working. Later, Nikki is going through old family photos when Victoria arrives. Victoria tells Nikki about the house and Nikki takes it in stride until she learns that Victoria bought the house together, they aren’t renting. However, no one is more stunned than Victor when he runs into Billy at the gym and sees his tattoo. Jack and Ashley wonder how Victor persuaded Adam to drop his suit against the Newmans and realize that Skye may know something. Meanwhile, Adam warns Skye about interfering with the suit against the Abbotts after what she did with the Newmans. Later, while waiting to meet with Skye, Jack hears that Victoria and Billy bought a house together from Gloria. When Skye arrives she tells Jack that she isn’t telling him anything about the lawsuit unless there is something in it for her. Meanwhile, Ashley confronts Adam who tries to play the victim but Ashley won’t have it and promises him that she will find out what Victor has on him and use it to nail him to the wall. Nikki isn’t sure of Victoria’s decision but Victoria tells her that because of Billy she is moving on with her life and enjoying it and she doesn’t care what Victor thinks anymore. Meanwhile, both Billy and Victor find a moment of humor as Billy explains why he has a tattoo of Victor’s name on his back instead of Victoria’s name. Later, Billy and Victoria aren’t sure if they should laugh or be wary when Victor sends a tattoo artist to the trailer to finish Billy’s tattoo. Once complete, Billy and Victoria admire the work before leaving to their new home. Skye tells Jack that she wants his contacts to invest in the Newman Fund before she says a word and Jack makes good immediately. Skye turns right around and tells Jack that she was the reason that Adam had to drop the lawsuit against Victor. Meanwhile, Meggie purposefully steers her conversation with Nikki towards alcohol, trying to continue to push Nikki to the edge. Later, Skye tells Adam about her meeting with Jack and threatens that if Adam doesn’t drop the suit against the Abbotts she will tell Jack everything. At Gloworm, Victor meets with Jack and Ashley to tell them what he found out from Skye and Ashley is stunned at the depths of Adam’s cruelty. Ashley leaves as Billy and Victoria arrive to meet Gloria and Jack tells Victor that Billy and Victoria bought a house together.  Jana is crushed when Kevin presents her with the divorce papers and runs out of the coffeehouse without taking them. Later, Jana and Kevin sit together as they look at the papers and Jana asks Kevin for one last chance. Kevin responds by signing the papers and saying goodbye. Meggie spikes a smoothie with alcohol and gives it Nikki. Meanwhile, Victoria is stung by Victor’s seeming indifference to her news about her moving in with Billy. Later, Ashley vows to take everything from Adam that he took from her.

Jack is forced to cover with Ashley when she tells him that Abby is suing Victor for mismanagement of her trust and she tells him that Victor thinks Jack is behind it. Meanwhile, Victor has bigger problems than Abby when he realizes that Victoria and Billy are having a baby and getting married. Nikki tries to keep the peace but Victoria loses it when Victor says that the only reason that Billy is marrying her is to stick it to him. Billy steps in, furious, and asks Victoria to marry him tomorrow and Victoria agrees. At the coffeehouse, Nina and Paul finally see the computer aged photo of Nina’s son but it looks nothing like Ronan. With Meeks and Owen, Ronan, trying to prove his loyalty, agrees to kill Chance by tomorrow night. Later, Chance doesn’t believe for a second that Ronan is his brother and tells Chloe that Ronan’s game end tonight. Heather tells him that she is there to tell Owen everything about the case and Ronan begs her to give him more time, his life depends on it. Abby tells Vance that she doesn’t want to get Victor into trouble with this lawsuit but she wants to him to treat her like an adult. Vance tells her, however, that she may not be able to have one without the other. Meanwhile, Jack’s concern grows when he learns from Ashley that Victor plans to dismantle Abby’s trust. Jack asks Ashley to consider that Abby could be right about Victor’s handling of her trust. Later, Abby perks up when Vance tells her that he believes Victor will offer her a settlement. Nikki tries to get Victor to reconsider his position about Billy and Victoria, especially since they are expecting a child but he refuses. Victor leaves to go deal with Abby and Nikki calls Victoria who tells Nikki that they are going to Vegas to get married and although disappointed, Nikki supports Victoria. Meanwhile, Victor goes to see Ashley and Jack to tell them about Billy and Victoria’s news and Jack is no more pleased about it than Victor. Ashley tells them to leave Billy and Victoria alone but Victor tells them that he plans to stop the wedding. Later, Nikki calls Victoria to tell her that she was able to get the waiting period on the marriage license waived so that she and Billy can get married in Genoa City tomorrow.  At Ronan’s motel, Chance confronts his brother for the first time since learning the truth and Ronan doesn’t deny it. Chance attacks him and Ronan tells him to back off and he’ll tell him everything. Meanwhile, Heather shows up at the coffeehouse, visibly upset and tells Nina and Paul that she doesn’t know who she can trust. Paul sends Nina out of the room so that he can call Christine to get background on Ronan. Later, after Ronan tells Chance his story behind closed doors, Chloe shows up at the motel and Ronan is furious with her for opening her mouth. Chance tells Chloe tomorrow this will all be over. In her room, Ronan calls Owen to tell him that Chance will be at the meeting and he has no idea he is walking into a trap. Vance tells Abby that if Victor isn’t willing to settle she needs to decide how far she is willing to take this lawsuit. Billy and Victoria decide that they want a traditional wedding with their friends and family. Later, when Nikki tells Victor that she is helping Victoria and Billy with their wedding, Victor makes a mysterious call to stop the wedding.

Billy sees that his guests aren’t very thrilled about being at his wedding so he thanks them for coming and tells them that as soon as Victoria is ready they will get the show on the road. Meanwhile, Victoria is horrified when she sees that Gloria hired Deacon to be the bartender at her wedding when the original bartender had an emergency. Later, Gloria is forced to fire Deacon but Phyllis sees him and decides to invite him as her plus one as a way to stick it to Nick. Chance meets with Heather to apologize to her and ask her to forgive him for biting her head off about going to Ronan. Heather wonders what is going on and asks if he is trying to say goodbye. Chance tells Heather about the drug deal and Heather is immediately panicked. She pleads with him not to go, finally admitting that she loves him, but Chance promises Heather that he will come back to her. Meanwhile, Ronan meets with Owen and Owen tells him that he will be there tonight when Chance arrives and Ronan doesn’t take care of Chance then Owen will have to deal with both of them. Owen decides to be extra careful when he demands to see if Ronan is wearing a wire. Mac and Billy share a close moment as Billy thanks Mac for smacking some sense into him and he tells her that he will always love her. Nearby, Jack, Abby, Ashley and Vance wonder if Victor will show up and blow this wedding to hell. Meanwhile, Victor has memories of his little girl. Later, Billy starts to freak a little when Nikki tells him it is time to get the show on the road. Just as Victoria is about to start down the aisle, Nick steps in and stops her, saying he is about to let her do this on her own. Later, Billy and Victoria tell the crowd that they are getting tattooed wedding bands before exchanging their vows, which including shocking a few people about the baby. However, before Victoria can say “I do” the FBI shows up and places her under arrest. Nina overhears part of Heather and Chloe’s conversation when Heather comes to see Chloe about Chance’s meeting tonight and Nina demands to know what is going on with her son. Meanwhile, Ronan plays the part of angry and defensive but when Meeks checks for a wire there isn’t one. Moments later, Chance arrives at the warehouse and is stunned to find himself face to face with Owen. Later, Chloe and Heather fill Nina in on everything they know about Chance’s meeting, including Ronan’s involvement and Nina says she knows someone who will know where Chance’s meeting is taking place. At the warehouse, Chance finds the drugs just as Owen tells him he will never get the opportunity to take the stand against them. Ronan walks up behind Chance with his gun on his back. Paul arrives to help Nina, Chloe and Heather search for Chance and things get intense as Nina’s worry heightens. Paul makes the decision to tell Nina that Ronan is F.B.I. and has Chance’s back and Heather realizes that Chloe knew something about Ronan but Chloe tells them that it wasn’t exactly that secret. Meanwhile, Chance turns to face Ronan and the two end up in a face off. Later, Chloe tells Nina that Ronan is her son just as Paul gets the news that he was able to triangulate Chance’s cell location. Things go from bad to worse when Ronan hesitates in shooting Chance and Chance turns to shoot Meeks but misses. Finally Ronan gets his shot off and hits Chance. Nina and Paul rush into the warehouse just in time to see Ronan standing over Chance’s bleeding body. Heather and Chloe arrive just as Chance is pronounced dead. Billy and Victoria manage to finish their vows just as Victoria is being shoved into the back of a police car, cuffed. No one has any doubt that Victor was behind it. Meanwhile, Victor gets a call that his plan was successful.

Y&R’s Eileen Davidson Delivers the ‘Power Performance of the Week’

Taking on a DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) storyline on the soaps can be extraordinarily challenging for the performer who is tasked with making a clear distinction and delineation between the various alters of their character.

However, the other trick to playing this kind of story, is often having the various alters trying to hide the fact from those they know and love of what is truly going on with them, so as not to tip them off, as to what is happening to them as they battle for control of a person’s psyche.

The gold standard is One Life to Live icon Erika Slezak’s (ex-Viki) Emmy-winning and gut-wrenching and riveting DID storyline where we met Tori, Niki (although we met her earlier in the life of the show), Tommy, Princess, Jean and even her father, Victor.

Photo: JPI

Now in 2024, The Young and the Restless’ Eileen Davidson is playing out a new DID storyline for the first time as Ashley Abbott. We knew decades ago that Ashley had a breakdown and has suffered psychological issues, but this has taken it to a new level. And, let’s be real, if you are going to give someone currently on a soap a DID story, who better than Davidson, who is used to playing multiple characters at one time as she did on Days of our Lives. Although on DAYS, each of the characters were their own distinct person, while now on Y&R, Ashley’s alters are fighting for control of her being,

Last week, on the Thursday, April 12th episode of the CBS soap opera, Davidson truly got to shine, as in front of the Abbott family and through what was supposed to be an intervention (they hadn’t figure out what the hell was happening to her), Ashley was flipping from alter to alter. We know there is Ms. Abbott, and Ash thus far, but there is said to be one more alter a-coming.

Photo: JPI

In the key scenes, Davidson’s internal struggle was played pretty masterfully in a scene where she literally is in a tug of war with her alters and flings herself on the couch, while Jack (Peter Bergman), Diane (Susan Walters), Billy (Jason Thompson) and Traci (Beth Maitland) look on. Of course, there are the soap trope scenes of alters in handcuffs while the other is on the loose. And leave it to Billy to figure out Ashley is suffering from DID from his past experience.

Photo: JPI

While this all seemed to spring from Ashley’s messy relationship with Tucker (Trevor St. John) and a throw back to an old car accident where she lost her unborn baby, is there some other underlying issue in Ashley’s past that was even more traumatizing that will be revealed as another trigger for this massive personality split? We shall see.

In the meantime, Michael Fairman TV names Eileen Davidson’s work the Power Performance of the Week, and rest assured, come 2025, Davidson will find herself going for the third Daytime Emmy win as Lead Actress for this storyline.

So, let us know, what did you think of Eileen’s performance? Are you enjoying Ashley’s DID storyline? What do you think will happen to her next? Comment below.

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL: “Sugar Sugar! Oh, Honey Honey”

The Bold and the Beautiful revealed at the end of the Friday April 13th episode what many viewers had guessed, that it wasn’t Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) who died when Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) stabbed her, but it had to her doppelgänger, Sugar, or at least it seems that way.

Deacon (Sean Kanan) has been beside himself since seeing what was supposed to be Sheila’s body being cremated, but revealing the body had ten toes and not nine, and we all know Sheila had cut off her toe, so she only had nine.

While explaining his thoughts that she is alive to Finn (Tanner Novlan) and then trying later to explain to Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), Deacon is more convinced that something is wrong here. Meanwhile, Finn went to talk to Steffy about Deacon’s theory, which stuns her, as she believed she killed Sheila in self-defense.

At Il Giardino, Deacon looks at his phone then slams it down. He flashes back to the body going into the crematorium oven saying to himself, “Maybe I’m not going crazy. Maybe that wasn’t you. And if that wasn’t you, maybe you’re out there. Maybe you need my help.”

Deacon gets on Sheila’s laptop and tries to find something that might help him figure out where Sheila has gone. He looks at her text message communications and sees a section from an unknown number. He opens the messages, and Deacon reads that they’re from someone named “Sugar.”  That person said she was going to find Sheila. In the messages, Sheila made it clear she wanted no part of her. But it could be that Sheila met up with Sugar, or was forced too?

Courtesy/CBS

In a quick history lesson about the character of Sugar: she was originally played by Robin Mattson on B&B, and was a former prison warden who helped Sheila escape and then joined her in kidnapping Ridge Forrester to hold him for ransom. A twisted plot ensued, where flames engulfed the foundry they were at and Ridge was presumed dead. Meanwhile, Sheila and Sugar disappeared with Massimo and Sheila’s baby, Diana.

Photo: JPI

Fast forward to 2006, Sheila returned to Genoa City to go after Lauren Fenmore (Tracey E. Bregman) again and was arrested for attacking Scott Grainger (Peter Barton). In a shocker, when Lauren went to visit Sheila in the slammer, she learned that the woman behind bars was actually Sugar, who had been given plastic surgery and now looks exactly like Sheila.

Now the questions become, did Sheila know that Sugar was going to attack Steffy? Did they have a plan and it went awry, or was Sheila hoping she could get rid of both Sugar and Steffy, by having her daughter-in-law sent to prison for her “murder”? Or, is Sheila out there somewhere in trouble?

Share your theories via the comment section below, and if you knew all along that it would be revealed that Sugar is the person who actually died and not Sheila. But first, check out next week on B&B where Deacon gets a visit from Lauren.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Drew and Nina Get Physical; Were You Surprised or Did You Expect it to Happen?

On the Tuesday, April 9th episode of General Hospital, Drew (Cameron Mathison) and Nina’s (Cynthia Watros) explosive relationship just turned up the heat another notch.

In story, Nina who was responsible (although she doesn’t see it that way) for Drew being sent to prison for insider trading when she tipped off the SEC, let out her feelings to him about how to get back in the good graces of her daughter, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and Michael (Chad Duell). In doing so, she asks him for his help with it.

For months, the two have had nothing short of contentious moments, where Drew has not let Nina off the hook for what he did to him, or to his ex Carly (Laura Wright). Fast-forward and when alone in the Crimson office, Nina brings up wanting to stick it to Carly again.

Photo: ABC

As they banter back and forth, Drew can’t figure out why he should help Nina at all with any of her manipulations. Suddenly, as he tried to exit, his shirt rips and exposes his bare chest and abs, and Nina get quite an eyeful. From there, things become physical and before you know it, Drew and Nina are making out and having their version of hate-sex.

Courtesy/ABC

Cameron Mathison spoke to Soap Opera Digest on the shocking turn events, sharing, “I didn’t see it coming at all. I really didn’t. I think the audience did. Cynthia did some appearances and I guess the audience was ‘You and Drew, there’s some sexy chemistry there.’ I was like, ‘Wait, what? Really?’ I didn’t even get it. So I love it that it was very unexpected. The writers saw it, too. And, I love that it’s not a typical way for two people to be … physical. I was gonna say intimate, but there’s not a lot of intimacy there. And then as soon as it’s over, it’s back to arguing and giving each other crap again. It was really cute and really well done.”

As the fallout for their office room romp will air on the Wednesday April 10th episode, just how will the two deal with the fact that they had this fiery passionate moment in the weeks and months ahead? Will this be Nina’s new plot to get at Carly to be seen with her ex? Will Drew and Nina never speak of this again? (Well, this is a soap opera, after all, that’s pretty doubtful), or is this part of a major reset for some of the characters on the canvas now that Patrick Mulcahey and Elizabeth Korte are co-head writing the show?

Courtesy/ABC

Speaking on the aftermath of the tryst, Mathison added, “The two of them are both like, all right, let’s forget about that and move on. It’s like a weird kind of aggression attraction. There’s obviously attraction there, but I don’t think either of them expected it, and I think they’re both totally shocked and surprised by it. I think Drew gets a kick out of it whereas Nina is a little embarrassed by it.”

Now let us know, did you see this coming? Did you think Drew and Nina would have sex? What do you think of the story turn? Comment below.
