Y&R This Week: Sharon learns of Phyllis and Nick's Engagement! Next, a rebound Sharon and Victor Pairing?

This week on the number one soap, The Young and the Restless, Sharon (Sharon Case) learns the news of Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) quickie engagement! And we know, when Sharon feels she gets burned or feels alone, or without Nick somewhere in her life, she either acts out or gets involved with another man! And from what we are hearing, that guy may be Nick’s daddy, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden)!
As the dalliances go round and round in Genoa City, how do you feel about Phick getting back together? Will it last this time? Are you still rooting for Sharon and Nick, or are you done with that? And, what do you think about a Sharon and Victor pairing? Many fans have voiced the thought of it makes them queasy! Would you find it interesting to see how their relationship plays out and how it affects Nick and Phyllis?
Watch this week’s promo from CBS after the jump, where Billy (Billy Miller) and Victor also go at it in Round 543 over Victoria, and let us know your thoughts on it all!
Was Shactor what MAB meant when she said some summer SLs would send viewers over the edge? As if Y&R can afford for any more viewers to go over the edge? This show is on the way out, whether it is a decision made a long time ago by the higher ups or whether it is MAB’s foolish pride. Either way, the people in charge have no regard for the viewers. With this nauseous SL on the way, it’s a good time to start weaning off of Y&R, I think. Nothing is going to change and/or it’s going to go off the air.
I agree. Sharon’s character has been destroyed just so that Melissa Claire Egan can be propped. Y and R is on its way out.
They’ve turned the Sharon character into such a hypocritical whore it’s not even funny. It’s bad enough they write her as being nothing without a man beside her, but the characters they choose to pair her up with only makes Sharon look even stupider and pathetic.
Putting her with the man who stole her baby was not the smartest idea. The character of Adam did nothing to actually show he was sorry (aside from say it, which even then, who would believe it?) yet there was Sharon standing by his side, breaking out of prison, abandoning her children, going on the run all for the man who stole her baby.
Then she faked her death and fell into the arms of yet another man. But throughout that saga, the one thing she couldn’t stop thinking about was her baby-knapper.
And then we decided to marry Victor. Need I say more?
And when these writers try to make the character appear independent, they screw it up big time by having her make stupid decisions or decisions that make her look like a hypocrite.
In all honesty, the Sharon character is one of the reasons I don’t tune in to this soap. I would be far happier if either the writing for her changed drastically or if she just leaved the soap entirely.
And what I don’t get is, isn’t Victor the reason why she went to prison in the first place? I mean, he was there on the mountain when Sharon and Skye were fighting and Sky fell to her death. Wasn’t that all because of Victor? And the fact that she has stood by his side and fought for him is just ridiculous. When I see that it’s a day that’s featuring Sharon, I usually turn the channel.
YES, YES, YES. It was all Victor’s fault. Everything IS! He has set so much in motion that has caused so much trouble/pain/death/prison sentences, I cannot keep up with it all & he RARELY called on it, and when he is he NEVER OWNS it. This business of “it is for my family” does not fly with me anymore. He thinks he can do ANYTHING in the name of his family and all will be forgiven. He needs his ass kicked. (And believe it or not I do love Victor, ha!)
I would love to see a radical Sharon Newman storyline, one in which she discovers strength within herself, perhaps while working on a timely social cause, not in any revenge or payback tale. This would allow Y&R to pick up that baton that several now-departed serials in which excelled, yes, but also for Case to spread her wings as an actress, and for Sharon to break out of the Newman family… perhaps for good. And this could be done over a long-term storyline, not just a couple showcase episodes (as B&B seems to do). I love redemption and self-improvement plots. Sharon may not succeed first time out but the journey and discovery for herself… and her son and daughter, could be so satisfying.
Sharon & Victor…ugh. Actually, Victor & anyone…ugh. He is the most miserable S.O.B. , never getting his comeuppance. Ridiculous.
I agree that Sharon needs to either be turned into a strong independent woman capable of running her own life or depart. I fast forward through most of the scenes she is in .. not due to the actress…due to the insipid story lines she is put into over and over. She needs to be taken out of the Newman family orbit – including working for them. It would be great to see Sharon start her own company (wouldn’t her buying Beauty of Nature be a kick in the ass to ALL the Newmans?)
Agree mostly with you…..everything but Sharon buying Beauty of Nature. To be honest with you, I wish the damn company would go bankrupt so they would quit spending so much time and energy writing for the takeover of BON. Just give the damn company to the Newmans, and everybody move on to something else. Victor Newman, his company and the countless number of takeovers….stick a fork in me, I’m done!
Did you notice that for years all Jack has ever wanted was Jabot. Jabot. Jabot. Back in our family where it belongs, where our father would want it to be. On & on. Then he gets it & immediately becomes obsessed with Beauty of Nature. I mean, really Jack. He did not take 5 minutes to enjoy getting Jabot. Kind of tiresome. And notice how everyone on that show job hops as much as they bed hop! I cannot keep up with who works where & who has worked where in the past. If someone loses a job they get 2 or 3 offers the same day! They’ll work somewhere for 2 days.
the writers need to change some of the stupid storylines. why does sharon always need a man. she is pathetic and needy. sharon case is a wonderful actress. victor newman and sharon yuck i think i am going to get sick. maria arena bell needs to get fired or leave because the ratings are going down. her storylines have been bad for over 2 years. i love debbi morgan as harmony slash yolanda. give her s ome better material to work on. i have a feeling jess walton who plays jill will not come back after her 6 month leave. i hope that i am wrong. why not recast and bring back brenda dickson for 6 months. i also loved brenda as jill. she was the 1st jill foster abbott. jess walton i adore her. i am going to miss her.
I love that nick & phyllis are get marred and for sharon to hear nick say he love phyllis is awesome and I hear that sharon is going to lose every thing in her life by mess with victor and I am glad that they are making nick grow up and to see had nick & phyllis handle sharon been with victor and trying to tell their daughter who loves victor.
I will be boycotting the show will this disgusting relationship between Sharon and Victor goes on. I have no desire to see a man old enough to be Sharon’s GRANDfather be in a relationship with her. What really gets me is, what in hell did Sharon Case ever do to Maria Arena Bell to get stuck with this craptastic storyline? Barf bags all aron
The last sentence should read: Barf bags all around folks!
I will be watching much less of Y & R. Victor and Sharon yuck. Phick yuck. Especially since they are making Phyllis pregnant. Have always hated the pairing of Nick and Phyllis. Double yuck.
How the hell old is Phyllis by the way? I mean if Daniel is 20 & she is 38 ok. But we know they are WAAAY older. Why make her pregnant? So that what . . . I cannot think of a single compelling story that can come from this. A medical crisis, custody battle, kidnapping? All been done, ad nauseum. They have so damn many little ones on there now I can’t keep up. Faith, Delia, Reed, John, Summer, Lucy, Fenn, Kyle (supposed to be young) I don’t like Phyllis anymore, never liked her that much to start with. I think she was best with Jack though. Who is now with Nick’s mother (again) Ugh. This show is the MOST incestuous! BUT I loyally watch every day-gotta support our soaps thru thick & thin. If you don’t like it today, just wait-it will turn around.
I agree when I found out they were going to have her pregnant again for what reason?
I forgot Lily’s twins, Charlie & the little girl-what is her name & of course baby Moses. They DO NOT need any more babies on that show for a while.
All I can say that if this storyline does come to life, it is just plain wrong on so many fronts. just the age difference is so glaring. Sharon is the mother of his granchildren for goodness sake. At least when Brooke got together with Eric, on the Bold and the Beautiful there were no children to consider. Now Faith is going to call grandpa Newman, Papa??
Sharon and Victor is all sorts of wrong. I mean, he’s been her father figure all these years and now they’re going to burn up the sheets? Gag me, and gag me hard.
FUNNY! I agree.
MARIA ARENA BELL NEEDS TO GO!!!
This will no doubt be vile, sick, perverse and disgusting – the ratings will continue to plummet!!
Who cares what Sharon does anymore? I mean, really. Who cares? She’s such a tool.
I sure don’t. She could leave town & not be missed. Course I could say that about a few others too.
MAB has something against Sharon Case ever since she came on board to write she has killed this characters integrity. And for the record Ms. Case has spoken out about how upset she is over this and her & Eric Braeden are very good friends. I would like to slap MAB”s arrogant face myself. I was furious when I heard the rumblings of this why does she need a man but then they make all the women on this show needy and stupid. And for the record Sharon is not any more of a whore then the character of Phyllis.
I don’t care who they pair Sharon with anymore – as long as it’s NOT a Newman…so tired of that !Actually I’m not even fond of the character.
There should be a drinking game to go with every time Victor says his company lost million of dollars because of Michael’s not calling the SEC commissioner.
Hogan Sheffer did such good work on ATWT it is a shame HE isn’t head writer. He is probably undermined and has story ideas vetoed by MAB. Her arrogance will kill this show. Unfortunately, like at all the Y&R companies, nepotism seems to rein with the Bells.
Just watched my first episode in a long time. Never could stand Sharon from day one and I mean day one! I still miss the Brooks sisters! Those days (70’s- early 80’s) had much better

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
