Y&R's Jill Receives A Bombshell From The Late Katherine: "Phillip Loved You, Jill. He Loved Only You!"

Courtesy/CBS
Good to know that under head writer Sally Sussman, The Young and the Restless is utilizing some of its vets in stories – Tracey E. Bregman (Lauren) and now Jess Walton (Jill).
In story, Jill fresh off her heart attack and having to now learn to live with a heart condition will receive a visit from her old friend, the late Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) via a letter that surfaces that contains quite a shocker for Jill!
In the letter, Katherine admits that her late husband Phillip, the man she and Jill fought over for so many years, was truly in love with Jill. Katherine reveals in the note that she denied this all of these years, but that as she writes, “Phillip loved you Jill. He only loved you.”
TV Insider has an exclusive clip from the episode that will air tomorrow on the Thursday. March 2nd episode of the number one-rated daytime drama series.
Y&R teases to be on the lookout throughout the episodes for more flashbacks and a surprise visitor!
So, what will Jill do now with the intel that she was Phillip’s one true love? Who will be the surprise visitor? Share your thoughts below!
Y&R is on fire, not generating heat with flash and stunts, but with genuine character work and great use of history. I am loving all of these changes seen since early December. It genuinely feels my Y&R is back after playing silly games for so many years!
Iakovos, I so totally agree and a lot of people are complaining that Y&R is boring which I don’t think so at all…Such great character writing and history being brought back to the show…OK, here I go again…PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back the classic background music…Mal and Sally, please make it happen. The current stuff you guy’s are using is horrible and doesn’t fit the show at all…otherwise I am loving Y&R once again…
Dante Williams, THANK YOU for your support and understanding of the background music and I totally agree on what you said in a previous post…Mal and Sally, there are other’s that agree with me on the background music…again, I ask that you please do something about it.
Background music is indeed important but like Suoo, I hadn’t noticed. You must have a very fine tuned ear for music. I will pay attention now.
I did like it when Victor has Mozart , Bach, Chopin and Bach playing in his living room as he read his own autobiography or plays chess with his demonic granddaughter. I do enjoy that!
You know what I hate as far as background music is concerned? When it’s overwrought, overdone and over emotive until the background music becomes forefront music. Background music should never TELL you how to feel. Rather it should enhance the feeling serving as some kind of subtle Shakespearean chorus.
That said, I completely concur with you all–Y&R has been pitch perfect as of late.
I am one of those who is finding Y&R boring right now.
It seems that everyone is always talking all of the time – Jack&Gloria, Jack&Ashley, Jack&Phyliss, Sharon&Nick, Sharon & Nikki, Asley&thenew guy, Phyliss&Ashley, Devon&Mariah, Billy&Victoria, etc.
0ooh thanks!
I haven’t noticed the music, now I probably will notice it ..
Thanks Addison and su0000….Addison, I agree about what you said about background music being overwrought and overdone which to me Y&R has never done unlike DOOL which I think is so overdone in the last few years…I loved DOOL background music when Marty Davich was in charge of the music. Addison, you also mentioned regarding that I must have a very fine tuned ear for music, I believe I do, lol…Oh my, Y&R back in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s had the best background music…it all changed when the newbies and people in charge came in 2006 and afterwards
I’m so glad they are finally giving Jill and Katherine the endgame story they both deserve.
How did Jill find the letter form Catherine ?
I love it. In addition the the writers paying fidelity to Jill and Katherine’s past, they are finally giving Tristan Rogers some really good material.
TR as Colin is emerging as as a deeply conflicted man torn between his love of Jill and his love of a risky venture.
I though it was kind of crappy for Billy to donate all of Colin’s clothes to Goodwill and indicative of the tone deaf behavior of a trust fund brat. The scene between Colin and the homeless man was poignant, well written and well acted.
Finally, Y&R is utilizing its greatest natural resource, Tristan Rogers.
Jill and Billy…the next Katherine and Brock!!!
Hi, Jimmy,
I like your train of thought. I never thought it would happen, but Jason Thompdon has finally found his niche.
I like this side of Billy–the mother/son relationship is coming to life. Billy is showing his maturity–and, Jason’s acting in this role has been impeccable of late.
Personally, this Billy is not for Victoria….I do not see or sense any sexual spark between them, whatsoever.
Perhaps, there’s someone else in store for both of them.
Suffice it to say, that Billy needs this time with his mother, as the solicitous son, as he gains his sea legs navigating through uncharted waters.
Addison…I wasn’t watching Y&R when Katherine was alive. So I’m really liking the flashbacks between Jill and Katherine now. Was able to see some of the Corbin Bernson pay tribute to his Mom. Very touching. At some point I will probably go to youtube and pull up some of there old stories. Also like seeing Tristan show his stuff again. It’s been a long time….since GH? Hope he makes the right decision about the ring if he truly wants Jill back again.
HA! Jim, like the idea.
Rose,I hope Colin makes the right decision too. I am so happy Y&R is FINALLY allowing Tristan Rogers to show viewers who are not familiar with his work, how good he can be.
Colin was too stupid to read the letter first. I dont recall seeing him reading it before having it delivered ti Jill. Never liked the guy. Never will. Once a snake, always a snake.
Billy is a brat but if Jill was your mom, you would give that loser’s clothes to charity too. That was mild compared to what he really deserved!!!
I agree with you, Deedee. I never liked Colin either. I think that those who do like the character are fans of Tristan Rogers; so I can understand that.
But, Colin’s last daring of taking things into his own hands, as it were, is just as despicable as helping himself to Jill’s money.
I don’t know how he managed to get into that safe deposit box in the first place ( it’s a soap, I guess…), but I am sure Jill will hit the roof when she finds out.
Philip show up very much alive…and Colin knows it!!!
Whoa, Jimmy. That would be a bombshell, indeed!!
Now….about that music box, LOL.
As I mentioned on the other site, I knew that box had to mean something….something BIG!! Why else introduce it all over again? Will Colin abscond with the cache’ or will he be in Jill’s good graces again, when and if he shows up with a treasure?
I have two issues that keep gnawing at me.
1)- Jill manipulated that box a million and one times. She turned it this way and that; she shook it; she tried prying the little compartments open many a time….so, what gives? It took Colin’s skillful hand to dislodge that piece of wood separating the compartments?
2)- How did Colin get to Katherine’s deposit box? Granted, he had the key, but unless his name is on the list , I can’t see how he got in that chamber.
Everyone knows me at my bank; yet, I have to show ID each and every time I do any transaction.
Does Colin have special ‘ dispensation’?
Totally agree with point number one. That was just plain nuts. A complete idiot could have figured out how to break that box apart to see what’s inside. But it’s a soap and that’s what soaps do….make us go crazy from things that make no sense. LOL
@Deedee.
Hi, Deedee,
Pleased to meet you, I’m Celia, aka CeeCee ( LOL….what a coincidence).
I wonder if the resurrection of the music box has always been part of the script, or a last minute ploy to engratiate Colin back to Jill.
Whether Colin will only cover what he ‘took’ from Jill and keep the rest ( if the ring is actually worth more than that).
This could backfire; in that, Jill may not appreciate Colin’s grand gesture ( lol) of taking matters into his own hands, instead of giving the box back to her, posthaste. Also, Jill may see red in the fact that he sold the ring. I would think that because it was from Phillip Sr, it eould have more of a sentimental value than money. Depends how greedy one is, I guess.
But, as you so sensibly point out….it’s a soap, and it’s futile trying to use reason.
I have been watching for a long time, but not as long as most. So, I ask you something which I still can’t figure out. I asked my grandmother, but she can’t be too sure….Perhaps you know the answer?
I have always known that John Abbot was not Ashley’s bio dad. But, did John know? Or was he duped by Dina in believing Ashley was his daughter?
TY…later.
Well, if that were to happen, it would be a SERIOUS re-writing of history, which I don’t think Ms. Sussman would do. Phillip died on camera after a drunk driving Katherine lost control of the car they were in.
I think Sally Sussman is trying to clean up the Music Box debacle created by Jean and Shelly. We will have to suspend our disbelief as she does so.
Won’t spoil it, but I know who visits since we are a day ahead in Canada. The writing, flashbacks and creative editing have been excellent. Looking forward to seeing what is next.
Lydia, oh Lydia!
Does the visitor’s name rhyme with Rock?
Or does it rhyme with Norman?
I am so much loving Y and R more and more every day, and I already
loved it a lot before! Now it has storylines more like we used to see, though,
and with real substance across the board without crazy disasters, etc.
And very intrigued about the Jill, Katherine, Phillip storyline!
Yes, Nanci. ….my favorite soap of all time, is regaining its wonderous splendor.
It sure is, Celia! And it didnt take long at all once the new writing started…all
starting falling back into place super fast.
yah know–
What a remarkable woman, Jeanne Cooper was..
I never ever FEed Katherine .
I miss her ..
I know nothing of the Philip man…
((again, writing for the 40yr fans.. there are many as me that have no knowledge of decades past)) ) but still I’m looking forward to the flashbacks !!!
Yet another reason to love the show since SS started writing. She has righted many wrongs we viewers have endured. Now, can she disentangle Jill and Lauren being sisters??? Keep up the good work, and we’ll keep watching!
FINALLY GOOD WRITING….FOR LONG TIME FANS THIS IS A GREAT STORY OF KAY AND JILL… KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND HAVE MORE STORIES WITH A REAL BACKGROUND…..
I have seen the episode here in Canada, it is a really good episode with lots of flashbacks and does something previous writers failed to do– gave that stupid music box story a decent ending– although some fudging had to be done to make it work– I mean I remember Jill and Colin going over and over that music box if the secret compartment was there it would have been found long ago– but I applaud the effort to not only to wrap up some old history with Katherine and Jill, by connecting it to a more recent story- but I feel sorry for poor Colin, thinking selling the ring and getting Jill’s money back to her will fix things– when she finds out what the ring was supposed to be and who was giving it to her– knowing Colin sold it will not help her heart any.
the answer to the surprise visitor showed up in yesterday’s cast credits…. we will see if I am right — a clue Happy St Patricks Day.
You are a tease, johnk, LOL.
Hmmmm….St Patrick’s Day? A clue? Okay, this mystery person will make an appearance on the 17th?
Is this person connected to Scott and Lauren? Does he/she have anything to do with Scott’s kidnapping? I thought Sheila was dead. However, she does have nine lives. LOL.
i am so pleased with y&r right now – i like the way the vets are out front & center with believable story lines and i love the way jill & billy are really coming together as mother & son……………
How did Colin get into the security box? If Kay bought it then she or her heirs would have to be there to open it.
I kinda feel like to keep having notes from Kay is unrealistic, but if we get to see flashbacks of Jeanne okay.
I agree that if Colin sells the ring Jill will be not be happy.
nice to see some real closure in the jill/ katherine classic feud. especially since the regime that was inb control at the time didnt fully flesh it out to the level it deserved. katherine vs jill was serious story forever. would be nice for nikki to come around since jill always hated her interference.
nows the time to bring nina and maybe chance back to continue the chancelor renaisance!!!. nina could mix it up at chancelor or with billy since him and vic are stalemate currently. nina vs jill is katherine vs jill jr!!
Y&R has pushed over the top utilizing such great talent that is in the characters of Jill and Lauren. Even GH gets it or maybe just a tease but they have been using Jackie Zeman over there and she has been great! She never forgot to act they just havent used the gems they have such as Bobbi, Monica and Laura.
Can’t wait to see what will go down today on Y&R and what Jill will do next about Colin
Some great memories come flashing back to the glory days of this entire Jill/Kay/Philip storyline. Hats off to Jess Walton, because she was not the original Jill (that role was played with Brenda Dickson) and she has played the role as if she really was the original Jill who married Philip Chancellor.
Aside from the weak links to this “box” story, especially getting into the safe deposit box at the bank without even fingerprint analysis, it’s a fun way to keep Katherline’s role alive.
AND YES, PLEASE BRING BACK THE 70S AND 80S MUSIC. THOSE BACKGROUND TUNES WERE CHARACTERS THEMSELVES!
THANKS so much Ron on your agreement on the background music, I SO MISS IT…
No problem, Kevin– I am certain there are other loyalists out there that feel as we do. I think, with a little research, the head of music at Y and R can be contacted about fan requests. Guess I’ll take up that charge. Should I get anywhere, I will find a way to post the answer.
I love the 70’s and 80’s music, Ron, albeit I wasn’t born during most of this glorious and ‘here to stay’ music era. I also love the 60’s–Motown et al .
It should be brought back.
On sleepless nights, I tune in PANDORA, on my iPad and listen to the music for hours. I also enjoy the WOODSTOCK videos, and listening to those musicians whose music still haunts and stirs the heart.
I was four when i bought my first record…It;’s My Party sung by Leslie Gore…srtill own it and all my 45s…right now i have been listening to Have I The Right by The Honeycombs-love their utube video…The British Soap Coronation Street occasionally plays old songs in the background at The Rovers Return-a pub!!!
@Jimh.
As yourself, Jimmy, my grandmother has the biggest collection of 45’s …..all in good condition; along with the record player. They all have my name on them, LOL.
She even taught me how to do the Locomotion, the Mashed Potatoes, and the Wilson Picket….love it all !!
Ron, THANKS again…I actually spoke with Paul Antonelli who was very kind…I am hesitant in writing much on this site due to it’s a public post but I will say I believe the one to make the decision on the music is the Executive Producer Mal Young and Co Executive Producer Sally Sussman. I have left several voice mail messages at Y&R fan line and no results…I hope Mal Young and Sally read these post and contact Michael Fairman and post if they will ever bring back the music or why they aren’t able to…I appreciate all that support this so the show can be back to 100% of the good old days of Y&R…
Glad to hear you at least made the effort, Kevin. I will send a note to Mal. I will send a note to Sally, also. AND, I will send a note to Kay Alden, whom I met when I was in college and she wrote at Bell’sside. She may not remember me, but I have Polaroid snapshots of me with her and holding an Emmy award!
Having the music back will please a lot of viewers.
Alas, time will tell if we are successful.
Wow, great minds think alike, Ron! I just wrote an impassioned letter to someone who didn’t understand why so many people can’t get over the music, and I wrote what you did; the music was its own character! Wow, I thought I was one of the few that felt that way but I see many of us were in love with and still affected by it. You would think by now that they would’ve hired the music crew back as soon as the Chancellor Mansion was returned to it’s former glory, and given new life with Jill and Esther back where they belong, and Billy living somewhere else so he can screw someone on his own couch, lol. I am going to forgive the fingerprint stuff, because the music box story was so terrible when it started years ago; to get this kind of ending is nothing short of a miracle, so I will suspend my disbelief which is a lot less these days due to far better writing, and I’m sure you agree(?)
Dante,
I fully agree with you! Getting the mansion back to its original look made Y and R feel, well, like Y and R! I hope one day they will resurrect the old Colannade Room… seeing that when I was a kid was really eye-opening. And, it’s neat that Esther has had so much screen time… I think she’s been on more the past 3 weeks than the past 3 years combined.
THANKS so much Ron, I so appreciate your efforts too…Hopefully we can make it happened…I also thought about writing Mal, Sally and Kay…please keep us updated…It would mean a world of difference if they brought the classic background music back…to have the show back 100% would be a dream come true…I really believe the writing is a lot better with Sally and Kay returning but the show doesn’t feel the same or complete without the classic background music.
Ron, I would love to see the Colanade Room again…it was grand…I remember when there was a gala and Jaime Lyn Bauer aka Lorie Brooks was introduce in her beautiful dress/gown she was wearing…those were the days.
I wasn’t watching when Phillip was alive and don’t know the history of this triangle. Does Kays letter make sense? What is significance of the ring?
I’ll be brief on this one. Young Jill was a gold-digger, coming from near poverty and she took a job as Katherine’s manicurist. Kay and Philip were in an awful marriage, all due to her heavy drinking and affection for the young stable boys. Kay alienated Philip and he fell into Jill’s arms, deeply in love. Jill got pregnant. Philip walked out on Kay and she finally agreed to a divorce. However, she couldn’t handle Jill being with Philip so one drunken night Kay was taking Philip to airport (I believe) and instead drove the car off a cliff, killing him.
So enjoying this week’s “Y & R”!! Great use of backstory (via classis clips from the glory days of “Y & R”) to bring closure to the music box legacy story. Bringing back Murphy was also a nice touch – time to bring this full circle.
IMO, Sally & Kay are doing an excellent job of trying to bring “Y & R” back to its character-driven roots! It’s taking time (Rome wasn’t built in a day), but I’m enjoying it more and more!!
As for the background/scene transition music, I for one would like the old music back!
THANKS so much Bart, I totally agree with what you are saying about Y&R and your THANKS so much on comment on the background /scene transition music along with Ron and other’s that support this…I so wish that the top brass at Y&R would listen to us.
Why all the fuss over the music? It would be like Patriot fans complaining that their Super Bowl parades are too long! Enjoy the freakin show!
Ohh, Timmmy. The music adds meaning to the scenes…it has always been so. Music means everything, and I don’t think it takes away anything from the show.
Actually, I wish they would play a few notes from QUEEN.
“Killer Queen!”
@Timmm.
Yeah, Timmmy!!!! Freddie Mercury, has always been my favorite….unparalleled. I absolutely loved/love his voice, moves; just his complete stage persona!!!!!….one of the best voices ever. There aren’t many that hit the spot for me: Sebastian Bach, George Michael, and Paul Rodgers are three more that stand out .
If only Y&R would go there, my friend. I would tune in just for the music, LOL.
Now Timmm, how long have you been watching Y&R? I am loving Y&R since Sally and Kay have returned and if one’s been watching the show 42 years like I have then you would know what the fuss is about with the background music…to me the background music that was used from the shows beginning until 2006 when Kay Alden and many other’s were let go it made a world of difference to this show and Bill Bell wanted his show to have music that made a difference that added to the story/scene. Timm, and NO, it’s not like the Patriots fans for it’s a whole totally different ballgame…
Kevin, I understand. I did watch Y&R in the 80’s and do remember some of the music and the climax it would bring to a scene and often times set the tone for a mysterious moment. I hope they revert back for you, Dante and any others. What I was referring to about the Patriots is they have had so much success lately that fans will find the littlest things to complain about like the length of their victory parade! That was a way of me paying a compliment to Sally on her excellent takeover wondering why the fans were worrying about a smaller detail, the music. I have been told otherwise and I apologize.
As a long time fan of Y&R, I can understand why there is such a ‘fuss’ over the music. I don’t get the analogy with the Super Bowl, but I can tell you that if you watched it over years like many have up here, than you would not only have to ask that, but you would also ‘fuss,’ lol, because it was so good. I am not kidding, the music was so good that it was it’s own character on the show, went along perfectly with every feeling, good or bad, every nuance and was perfect without being overdone. The passion in it wasn’t like any other soap, and stayed consistent for over 30 something years, until some whacky producer who thought she knew better decided to fire that crew (apparently over christmas holiday, so rumored), among other sweeping stupid changes in my humble opinion that didn’t stick and led to her being fired. The music made the show stand out in a way that I believe it even was one of the main reasons that it was number one, and it is still but it’s not the same. The music was the embodiment of what the show represented, the slow burn, character development, one of the most stable casts of any show, day or night. The music leaving was synonymous with many of many other things losing their spark, the writing became hackneyed, rushed, and you could tell that people were in charge that not only didn’t know what they were doing, but didn’t care about anything but the bottom line, the ratings, not the story bible, and it became plot driven. This is over a number of years. That is why, now more than ever when the writing has returned to what many say is how it was at the beginning, at it’s best, with the ‘slow burn,’ but some scenes seem inappropriately silent where a little music would strengthen it, and there is light, airy, meaningless music in scenes that should be a little more serious. So I hope I explained why so many are hoping the music would return, because it’s not just the music but what it can add to the scenes and what it represented to all the long time fans. I can still hear it in my head; it was that powerful. I still enjoy the show and love it and support it daily, though, but it feels like that one thing could be the thing that completes Y&R’s return to glory. It’s almost back 100%.
Dante, what a beautiful write up that you did regarding the music, very well done and I am totally impressed…You should be a writer. THANKS so much for writing and explaining to individual’s that don’t understand.
Dante, well written. You have such a passion for the music. You feel it builds the character and sets the scene, fine, I apologize for dismissing what I thought was the last thing on the Y&R “To Do” list. The show was in such a hole before Sally came aboard I am just so involved in the stories and characters now. I will take note of the music and hope it changes for you and other viewers.
@Timmm.
Oh, Timmmy. No need to apologize. You expressed your feeling….there’s never a right or wrong about one’s opinion.
Besides, I know how much you love Y&R. I also know you are not a fan of the Patriots…HaHa…had to throw that in. Forgive me??
Alls Well Thst Ends Well. Luv-ya….
Timmm, I so appreciate your kindness along with your apology which now explains to me and other’s what you meant and now I understand what you are saying. I totally agree what you are saying about being involved with the stories and characters which I am too but I just feel like something is missing since they aren’t using the previous beautiful background music which I think enhanced the stories and the feel of the show…
Why didn’t Murphy come forward A LOT earlier and ask, “Hey, have you found the secret compartment in the music box yet?”
LOVING the “resurrection” of Katherine the Great and the legacy story they are revisiting. Nothing’s better than seeing Jill berate Katherine from beyond the grave… as if she were standing right in front of her. Case in point… two days ago Jill looked up at the painting and (through clenched teeth) uttered, “What are you up to, you old FOSSIL!?” LOL
Loving the character-driven stories by Sussman, but I’m noticing less and less of the outdoor shots. Mal Young was quoted a few months back ago saying they were trying to get at least one outside shot per episode…. to give Genoa City much more scale. Seems as though they are getting away from it, though, and I hate to see them think small again.
The outdoor shots make everything so much more immediate and believable. Here’s hoping they can still look forward, while holding on to that certain magic they’ve always had!
Gosh! All of these positive comments make me want to start watching Y&R again. For many years Y&R was my mainstay. I would fall in and out of other storylines on other shows, but no matter what I watched Y&R consistently. Then the crazy Ron C. years started and the focus was so plot driven and asanine. Jelly took over and I couldn’t recognize any of the characters I had grown up watching. I deleted the show from my DVR and that was that. Now I want to start watching again, and so I think I will.
Karen, Ron C never wrote for Y&R, I think you mean Charles Pratt…Y&R is back except for the classic background music…I recommend to start watching it again. I am loving it and it’s the first time that I have watch daily since 2006.
Thanks for the correction! I absolutely meant Pratt!! And I have started watching again
My reference to St. patrick’s day … the clue was of course MURPHY!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

ET followed suit after Extra announced the nominees, as previously reported, in the Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series – Actor and Outstanding Daytime Talk Host.
Now, five leading ladies of the soaps are vying for the gold for Lead Actress and the category marked the first-ever nominations for CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates when two actresses made the final cut. Only General Hospital is not represented among the actresses this year after Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) took home the trophy last year.

Meanwhile, Michelle Stafford had previously won 3 Emmys – 2 for Lead Actress and 1 for Supporting, but this recognition makes it her 11th overall nomination.
Heather Tom currently is tied for the most all-time Daytime Emmy wins with One Life to Live alum and General Hospital guest star, Erika Slezak. The B&B star has 19 nominations throughout her career.
