Y&R's Joshua Morrow Names His Top Five Nick Newman Moments!

As we previously reported, Joshua Morrow recently celebrated his 20th anniversary with The Young and the Restless as Nick Newman!  To continue the celebration, he sat down with TV Guide Magazine’s Michael Logan and picked his top five Nick Newman moments, in which he elaborates on the scenes of his choice, and videos of it are included!

Our favorite remark from the ever-witty Morrow was in his choice of “Nick Goes to Prison” where he meets seedy Larry Warton (David Shark Fralick) after he is wrongly accused of shooting Matt Clark.

Joshua weighed-in by saying:  “We liked to call it ‘Pretty Boy Prison’ because everyone — even the extras — were really good looking and in great shape. Their clothes were never dirty. We all just stood around folding laundry all day.  It was a very interesting place — and that Larry definitely had some ‘ulterior motives’ where Nick was concerned.  Forget ‘Shick’ and ‘Phick’! If Victor hadn’t shown up at the prison in time to head-butt Larry, the next daytime supercouple might have been ‘Lick”‘!

Other picks by Morrow included: Nick’s return to Genoa City in 1994, Nick and Victor visit Albert in 2003, Nick and Sharon leap from a plane in 2004,  and Nick and Sharon say goodbye to Cassie in 2005.

Watch the prison scene after the jump! Then let us know, what has been your favorite Joshua Morrow/Nick Newman moment on Y&R?

My favorite Nick moment was when he turned in Victor over to the feds–but this prison story line is a second second. Congrats and thanks for sticking with the show all these years.

Oh I don’t care about Nick!!!!! My ALL-TIME FAVORITE Larry Warton moment was when he got all dressed up in that cop uniform to, um, surprise Jill. W-O-W!!!!! Also, Angie said it perfectly…Larry and Jill were so H-O-T together!!!!! I wish that The Wart-Man (aka Larry Warton) would come back to Y&R. Bottom Line Here: As an actor, David Shark Fralick TRULY ROCKS!!!!!

NATAS Appoints Adam Sharp As Its President & CEO

On Tuesday, The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) and its Board of Trustees announced Adam Sharp, former Head of News, Government and Elections at Twitter, has been appointed President & CEO of the organization.

Adam’s resume includes time with NBC and C-SPAN.  He has been working as the Academy’s Interim President & CEO since February, 2018.  As for his duties, Sharp will lead the organization’s operations including sales, promotion, marketing, financial management and planning of its various Emmy Award programs.

“Adam Sharp’s story is truly a unique story of success,” said Terry O’Reilly, Chairman, NATAS. “Adam’s career in media began when he was awarded one of our very first National Scholarships, in 1996.  In the two-plus decades that have passed – through Adam’s years with NBC News and C-SPAN, his tenure as Deputy Chief of Staff for U.S. Senator Mary L. Landrieu (D-LA), and his role as Head of News, Government and Elections at Twitter – Adam developed the personal and professional acumen that makes him the ideal candidate to guide our iconic organization. REPORT: Tony Morina and Josh Griffith IN As New Y&R EP and Head Writer?

Now that Mal Young is out at the number-one soap opera, that left the executive producer and head writer positions open.  But according to a report from Daytime Confidential, Y&R has replaced Young with two veterans of the soap genre.

First, the report says the new EP will be Anthony “Tony” Morina who has been with Y&R since 2004.  Morina has also produced and worked on Santa Barbara, Sunset Beach, Port CharlesGeneral Hospital and All My Children.

Second, Josh Griffith (Pictured here) will take over the head writing duties.  As many know, Griffith had been with Y&R several times in soap career.  He was Co-EP from 2006-2008, and named head writer two other times in 2007-2008 and 2012-2013.

Y&R has had several changes at the top now over the last few years:  Mal Young took over from when Sally Sussman and Kay Alden departed, and their tenure was short lived.

So, how do you think Y&R will look and feel under this new regime if confirmed? Who would you like to see come back to Genoa City and exit Genoa City? Comment below.

Mal Young Exits As Executive Producer and Head Writer At The Young and the Restless

As many had predicted, Mal Young is gone from The Young and the Restless as the series executive producer and head writer.

Young confirmed his departure from the show via ShowBiz411.com with a statement “Just arrived in London for the holidays. I felt like it was a good time to move on. Never a good idea to get too settled on a long running soap and I achieved all that I and CBS set out to do: improved scripts and production values. I have a project of my own that I’ve been developing and want to pursue that now. Plus running a show like this is all consuming and want to get a bit of my life back – and see my family occasionally!”

Ratings for the top-rated series have been down since Young has been in charge, and in addition, several fan favorites given less airtime, or dropped from the show, while plenty of newbies brought to the canvas.

So, what do you think of the exit of Mal Young from Y&R? Comment below.
