The Young and the Restless fan favorite, Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman), who very rarely posts on social media, shared on Twitter that his son, Crew is standing with, and helping support people in need in Ukraine.

Crew, who previously launched his own hoodie clothing line, called orangejuice is prepping new Ukraine-inspired designs, one of which available for purchase now with 100% of the proceeds going to those affected in Ukraine, and to provide meals for those in need during the on-going war with Russia.  The hoodie can be found here

Orangejuice and Crew’s mission can be found on its website: “Amidst the chaos and confusion that surrounded the year of 2020, a clothing brand was created. This brand sought ways in which it could inspire, ways it could innovate, and ways it could help those in need. Combining creation, with that of the desire to help others, Crew Morrow (founder) established orangejuice in March of 2020.(a time when the corona virus was at its climax) Looking for ways to provide relief, Crew designed his first hoodies on March 13, 2020. Not much later, those same hoodies released to the public and 100 percent of the proceeds went to those affected by the coronavirus. Providing over 3000 meals.

Fast forward 2 years later and orangejuice has returned, but this time to join the fight and stand with Ukraine.  Now in 2022, orangejuice (and the rest of the world) are witness to the belligerent Russian invasion of the free territory of Ukraine. Millions of innocent civilians have been displaced, losing their homes, loved ones, and in many cases their lives. In response, orangejuice has already donated the remainder of its stock along with packaged toys and essentials for the displaced children of Ukraine. Additionally, orangejuice prepares to launch a new clothing line that includes Ukraine inspired designs. The proceeds from said designs will be donated to MercyChefs, a non profit disaster relief organization that is greatly helping the fight for Ukraine through food donation. ORANGEJUICE STANDS WITH UKRAINE. ”

My gosh that young man is the stopping image of his dad. Even better looking if possible . Wow

Sorry spitting man I can’t type anymore going to quit.

ITs a great look. Hoping for a XL size of the hoodies supporting Ukraine. Thank you

Wow! Josh’s son looks so much like his dad, he could be used for Nicholas flashbacks.

Fantastic!! Job for this young man May it set example for all of us!!

What a mature and wise beyond his years young man. Most celebrities who have their own clothing, skin care, jewelry lines etc. donate very little if any of their proceeds to charity. It is really amazing and unusual to see anyone this young with this type of foresight and generosity. And as an aside he looks so much like his dad did at Crew’s age.

So much looking like his dad

In a major behind the scenes move, The Young and the Restless current head writer, Josh Griffith is stepping down from his duties and is soon exiting the top-rated soap opera.

TV Insider was first to break the news and according to their report, Griffith’s departure was his own choice and the cast and crew learned of his decision earlier today on Friday, June 26.

Griffith’s resignation is not effective immediately and for now he will be continuing to tell the stories in Genoa City. As of this writing, Y&R has not named Josh’s successor.

Previously, Josh stepped down from his other major duty as the soap opera’s co-executive producer. It was just two months ago we learned that longtime Y&R vet Sally McDonald took over the EP role, while Josh was remaining the series head writer.

A SOAP WRITER WELL-TRAVELED

The seven-time Daytime Emmy winner has had a storied career and tenure in the field of daytime drama. Josh began his soap writing career in 1988 with Santa Barbara, then went to One Life to Live, where he was promoted to co-head writer. He ended his time in Llanview, at that time, in 1995. Later, he co-created Sunset Beach with Bob Guza Jr. The series ran from 1997-99 on NBC. One Life to Live called again and Josh returned as co-head writer again alongside Michael Malone from 2003-2004. Next, he joined the writing team of As the World Turns.

It was back in 2006 that Griffith first came to Genoa City and The Young and the Restless. He started in the capacity of creative consultant, as a breakdown writer, and then was tapped as the series co-executive producer. After departing in 2008. It was not until 2012-2013 that he made a short return before heading to Days of Our Lives to become the co-head writer of Salem from 2015-2016.

Eventually, Josh resurfaced at Y&R as Supervising Producer before becoming head writer in 2019 after Mal Young’s exit. Griffith had served as both head writer and executive producer from 2023-25. In 2025, Sally McDonald joined him as the series co-executive producer until the recent change a few months ago where McDonald is the sole EP.

So, what do you think of Josh Griffith stepping down as head writer at The Young and the Restless? Who would you like to see as his successor? Share your thoughts and picks via the comment section below.

Published

Jill Abbott pays a visit to her sons, Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) on episodes beginning today June 25 on The Young and the Restless. The thing of it is; Jill will be played in a handful episodes by Days of Our Lives veteran, Lauren Koslow and not Jess Walton who has played the role for 39 years.

Y&R’s head writer, Josh Griffith spoke to Soap Opera Digest to offer up some context of how it came to pass that Koslow stepped in and what this means for the Jess Walton’s future with the top-rated soap.

Josh explained, that Walton who resides in Oregon could not make the trip to Los Angeles to tape some key and pivotal scenes. The show decided to have a temporary recast, “When we got the sad news that Jess wouldn’t be able to make it down here for this, we were just so close to when we needed to do it. The Y&R publicist (Matt Kane) and I just sat and brainstormed for two seconds.”

Griffith noted it became obvious that Koslow was the perfect choice having written for the character of Kate when he was writing DAYS.  He noted and felt that both the characters of Kate and Jill have “similarities.”

JESS WALTON FOR ALL INTENT AND PURPOSES IS STILL JILL ABBOTT

As for Jess Walton’s place on Y&R, Josh elaborated, “We love her. She is Jill to the masses. I hope that as we move forward there will be opportunity to see more of Walton’s Jill) based on her availability.”

In story, when Lauren Koslow takes over the role look for Jill to be back in Genoa City to deal with Cane and Billy. As Griffith explained “She wants these two semi-brothers to come together and stop bickering. And she also needs to keep a huge secret that she can’t afford for Billy to find out.”

So, happy to hear from Josh Griffith that they hope when Jill is called for in story that Jess Walton will be able to make the tape dates? Looking forward to seeing Lauren Koslow step-in as Jill? Share your thoughts via the comment section.

Christel Khalil Reveals She Almost Quit Acting After ‘That’s So Raven’ Audition, But Then Came ‘The Young and the Restless’

The Young and the Restless fan favorite, Christel Khalil (Lily Winters) is the special guest on this week’s edition of Soapy Hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart which dropped today on Tuesday, June 23rd.

During the interview with Rebecca and Greg, Khalil who had played Lily Winters on-screen since August of 2002, nearly 24 years with the CBS soap, shared how early on her teenage acting career, she was ready to call it quits in show business, after a heartbreaking audition for the lead of a new Disney Channel sitcom, which later turned out to be the hit seres, That’s So Raven, starring Raven-Symoné which ran for four seasons from 2003-2007.

Christel recalled what happened. “I was 14 and I had always auditioned for all these Disney projects. So I auditioned for That’s So Raven, it was between me and Raven-Symoné and it was called at the time Absolutely Psychic,” explained Khalil. “The character was this girl who had psychic ability, but then when Raven got the role, they named the title of the show after her.”

HOW A BROTHERLY TALK CHANGED THE COURSE OF CHRISTEL’S CAREER

Reliving the disappointment to Greg and Rebecca, Christel explained, “I lost that part and I was just so devastated, because for the network call there were 20 people in the room watching me, and I just have always had such performance anxiety. I just completely bombed the audition and it was terrible. So, I was just devastated. I was actually going to quit acting and then I got the final call for The Young and The Restless and I wasn’t going to go.”

It was Khalil’s brother, who actually got her to reconsider, and if he hadn’t, we would not have our Lily Winters in Genoa City! Christel recounted, “I was like, ‘You know what? I’m done. I don’t want to do this anymore. I’m just going to hang out with my friends.’ I was just devastated. My brother, who is seven years older than me, and he had quit acting at the same age that I was at that time. He said to me, ‘I promise you, I actually really regret quitting. Just go on this audition and if you don’t get it, you can quit.'”

Christel’s screen-test for the role of Lily was actually with the late, great, Kristoff St. John who would play her father Neil (Later it was revealed to Lily, that Neil’s brother, Malcolm Winters was her bio-dad).

ACTING WAS EASY WITH THE LATE KRISTOFF ST. JOHN

“So, I went (to test for Lily) and I remember the screen-test was with Kristoff St. John. It was just so easy to act with him because he’s just so there. I remember just being on set, and that was my first time there for a screen-test where you were actually on set. I had never experienced that before. It was my first time being with an actor and  having makeup done, which just helps you really be able to do your best work.”

Recalling the screen-test with the St. John, Khalil, “It was where I had to be emotional ( in the scene) and I always had issues being emotional at auditions. But I was there with him, it just came, and it happened. It was natural and I felt so good and it was amazing. It stands out in my mind a lot.”

You can check out the full Soapy conversation with Christel Khalil where she also discusses juggling motherhood, marital life, and the demands of soap operas.

Fan can listen to weekly episodes of Soapy on Audacy or wherever podcasts are available, and can watch full video episodes weekly on the CBS =Brand YouTube Channel. Whether a lifelong fan or discovering the genre for the first time, SOAPY offers a fresh, fun behind-the-scenes look at the stories – and storytellers – that define daytime drama.

Now let us know, over the years what had been your favorite Lily Winters story on Y&R as played by Christel Khalil?
