Y&R's Justin Hartley Cast In New NBC Drama Pilot!

When you’re hot, you’re hot! The Young and the Restless Justin Hartley (Adam Newman) who has turned in one riveting performance after another on the number one soap opera, just landed a key role in an upcoming drama pilot for NBC that sounds quite intriguing.
According to Deadline, Harley along with Mandy Moore (Red Band Society), Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes), Sterling Brown, and Ron Cephas Jones (Mr. Robot) are the first actors to be cast in the new pilot from Dan Fogelman. The untitled dramedy is made up of a unique ensemble of characters all born on the same day.
Hartley will play the role of Kevin, a handsome and successful television actor with an underlining boredom in his ultimate bachelor life.
So, what do you think of Justn’s new role? Sound like a perfect fit? At present time, Justin shooting the pilot will not affect his role on Y&R.
Maybe he can continue to do both but maybe the rumor is right…JT-GHs Patrick will become the new Adam but itll be a miscast if true!
The rumor is JT is wanted for the role of Billy not Adam. If JH did actually re-sign for 2 more years. I assume he would of gotten a lot outs to do outside projects. Kind of like what Billy Miller wanted and was denied. If it does go to series be interesting to see what happens. I wouldn’t mind a return of MM. He is still my favorite Adam.
You could be right, Apple, albeit I think Jason T is all wrong for the role of Billy. I said this before: I theorized that Gabe is really alive….enter Jason T with a face-change.
I agree!!! Justin is great but would be great to see MM again in a great acting role! He is missed!
Yeah, Jimmy. It sounds like he is. I got scared there for a minute. I thought he’d be leaving…whew, that was close.
I got the characters mixed up…i meant Billy…im only an occasional viewer of Y&R but find myself watching more lately
“…I got scared there for a minute. ”
1.. I love that you said this…. I go their often
LOL
relief mode
he’s carrying the show plus!
there’s so much passion to mine in this genre
I think the rumor about JT is that he is being cast as Billy Abbott. I hope Justin is allowed to do both … Given that the reason Billy Miller left Y&R was because the powers that be would not allow him to do both and it obviously was a huge mistake. Let’s hope that they learned by their mistake.
Billy Miller, I do not think, wanted to do a dual role. I believe, he wanted to pursue other projects while on Y&R.
That’s suppose to be Billy,
Patrick is going to be the new Billie Abbott
I think Jason Thompson would be a great recast for Adam. Not that Justin Hartley isn’t doing a terrific job. I’d hate to see Justin go. But, if he wants to move on with his in career, so be it and good luck to him. Some people have suggested Jason as a recast for Billy. I feel that would be a mistake. I don’t think Jason is right for Billy.
I truly – wish – I could have seen; Jason Thompson… when he debuted on GH
pre; Robin
when I read how dastardly flirtatious man on his own… LOL made the ladies swoon; men envied;
could this be where Y&R is coming from… that Jason Thompson… could be the man… again ! that fans of him… have wanted all along for his character after Robin left ?
i sure would have liked seeing his strong masculine side… that I missed out on… because AMC was my choice
so… if he does go to Y&R… as Billy…
I think he has all the traits they are looking for… can he bring all this
from what I’ve read… and fan recall
it certainly would be fun… dang ! I’m sure Jason Thompson is just chomping on the bit… at the starting gate
The article states he intends to do both shows.
I sure hope so, we got lucky with this recast, very few turn out to be THE ONE. Look at Kyle and Billy, they can’t find a good Kyle to save themselves, and I doubt they’ll ever find anyone to take Billy Miller’s place.
I understand Justin wanting to branch out for his career, that’s what it’s all about, but I sure will miss him if he goes, he’s the best.
I disagree Jim. Jason Thompson would be closer to Michael Muhney’s Adam than Justin. However, Jason isnt as dark as Adam is. Maybe they soften him? Jason is a good actor who can hold his own so I wouldnt panic if he were the new Adam. Much better than if he were casted as Billy.
Hmmmm, Timmm. It would certainly be interesting to see Jason Thompson as a blonde.
No, no. He is staying on as Adam. He has signed on for a two year contract, and hopefully he will stay longer then that as well
Agreed, Diane.
Good for Justin..
Primetime is the ticket out and up..
strange CBS would let JH roam to NBC , but Sony would it seems.
((There has been soap casting rumors, one was, JH was leaving Y&R, but that does not seem as fact..
One rumor I hope is fact;
Michael Muhney to GH ..
su, it’s possible this IS a Sony pilot. They are very loyal to their “family.” They have kept Wesley Snipes working all these years through his legal troubles by giving him work at Screen Gems (I know I used to work there) and now he has his own show, THE PLAYER, on NBC Thursdays. They did the same with Nicolas Cage and Steven Segal.
I pray Muhney goes to GH!
Doing a pilot and having that pilot picked up and put on the air are two different things. However it does make me nervous when I hear of soap actors doing pilots because it usually means they are not fully committed to daytime. Whether they want to take their careers to the next level or worry daytime is dying they always have one foot out the door. The reasons actors like Susan Lucci, Jeanne Cooper and the like are so beloved by soap fans is because they stayed with daytime because they wanted to not because they felt they had to. But it is his life and if the show is okay with him doing pilots knowing the risk the pilot could be picked up, so be it. But it would be a shame to recast Adam again, but if they do let’s hope they find someone who really wants to be there for the long haul.
Yes, Susan Lucci STAYED, but she had many, many side jobs. I recall many made-for-TV movies. Hopefully IF and it is a big IF, Justin’s pilot is brought to series, that he will be allowed to do both.
Happy for him but I sure hope he stays with Y and R, and just
does both!
He’s always belonged in primetime. Loved him on Mistresses, and they should have kept his character and Joss together. Wishing him lots of luck with the new show. I’ll be watching.
Justin Hartley wasn’t going to stay on Y&R for an extended number of years. He came from Primetime and he was destined to return. If NBC picks up the show, say so long to nuAdam. Will Phelps recast Jason Thompson in that role? Who will be the nunuBilly now that Burgess Jenkins is leaving? Looks like Y&R is back to 2014 when Miller & Muhney left.
Before everyone starts the big brou-haha that he’s leaving, keep in mind:
Being hired for a pilot ≠ the show will be picked up and Justin will leave Y&R.
You need to wait until after the new year before we know what this all means.
Just saying….
Good point Jules.
Is JH allowed to do a primetime series on NBC and a daytime soap on CBS?
HOPE HE CAN DO BOTH.
Love him!!! The best addition to Y & R .
justin’s acting ability is off the charts – he will do well in whatever he does………
Good job Justin. You cannot hold talent down! I knew this would happen. He has prime time exposure so this isnt shocking. I say the same for Billy Miller over at GH. Just when we get use to Jason being back Billy Miller will be long gone! You cannot hold talent down!
I don’t want him to leave Y&R!!!!!!
Thats great & I will for sure watch anything he is in. I thought I would never accept anyone taking the part of Adam, but he didnt take long to make a big fan of his. Love him as Adam
CONGRATULATIONS TO A GREAT ACTOR…HE IS ADAM NEWMAN….ONLY PERSON I CAN COME UP WITH AS A RECAST IS DANIEL COSGROVE….IF NOT…PLEASE PLAY BOTH ROLES….
Nice !
Daniel Cosgrove played the darker masculine tough misguided ? man… easily
it was apparent, when he had scenes with Clyde, Andre, and even Bo
if he stops the smirks ??? he played embarrassed and came off as a little unsure of himself…as well he should… with aplomb!
which just shows… if DC acted… sure of himself… and put his reel first… then we’d have no choice but to dance on his own terms
Daniel Cosgrove made a very likeable character (Aiden) that reels all the passion needed for Adam
he’s worth any consideration… he displayed a lot of emotion
The lifeboats are filling up quick….
This does not surprise me at all. Justin can act circles around a lot of his fellow actors. This is hardly the end of the jobs for this guy. I would bet down the road he hits movies at the theater,I can see him act with the best of them. Really can’t you see him in MI movies with T. Cruise. I’ll tell you if Jeremy Renner ever leaves T.Cruise wouldn’t be stuck for a replacement. I guess the selfish side of me wants him to stay as Adam because he’s so great at it but the nice side of me wants to see his career bloom because he deserves it.
At some point I think CBS or NBC won’t like this dual arrangement and he will be forced to choose.
I think he could play any part you put him in
Wow! Don’t know any of this. His appeal was so evident; it just wasn’t clear to me about the acting. His hand and body movement were gentle but the speech patterns so rapid. I don’t want him to leave but guess it seemed too many people were looking at the chemistry. However, that is probably what it is all about.
Love Justin so I’d check out a prime time he’s cast in. Disappointed though to see Milo Ventimiglia is also cast….Actually I love Milo too…but through this info I just found out his show The Whispers was canceled. Really liked that show and it left on a cliffhanger. Thus the beauty of soaps…or what they used to be…they were a constant…loyal, in your home every day, never the threat of disappearing after you got emotionally invested… Sigh…
Two great actors…here’s hoping it’s a good show with longevity!
I love Justin Hartley and have watched him on Mistresses, Smallville and Revenge. He is a great actor and handsome to boot. I was a huge MM fan and when he was let go I gave up watching Y&R until I heard that Justin was going to be in the role. I love him with Chelsea (MCE) and to me their chemistry is off the charts.
I have been disappointed in the writing for Y&R and don’t like the fact that both JFP and Pratt give roles to their favorites which come mostly from GH and some other shows where they have all worked together.. They will stop at nothing to try and get the fans to like who they want us to like.
It looks like they are going to switch couples and have the character of Sage be with Adam and Chelsea be with Nick. I am not a fan of Sage at all. Nothing against the actress, but can’t stand the character. I have waited what seems like forever to finally have Adam, Chelsea and Connor to have some happiness without all this turmoil they have had. Like Adam getting a 10 year sentence for an accident which I never thought he was guilty of. I was hoping the writers would finally write something good and prove who really hit Delia that night. Instead they come up with this lame story of Victor offering Adam his freedom because the judge had an affair which turned out to be with Victor. Victor claims Adam changed the paternity test of Christian and he will tell Chelsea unless Adam comes to work for him and helps him bring Jack down. How many s/l’s do we have to have with the same thing repeated over and over.
What really bothers me is I think they forgot that when Sage had the original paternity test done Adam accused her of lying and told Nick the same thing and that he shouldn’t trust Sage because she was a gold digger. He also told Chelsea because she walked in on Adam and Nick arguing and wanted to know why he was causing grief to Nick and Sage. Adam told her it was because he thought the baby was his which made Chelsea realize he had sex with Sage. Of course he explained how it happened the day that she was supposedly marrying Billy downstairs and Nick had broken things off with Sage.
So how can Victor blackmail Adam with information that Chelsea already knew was a possibility? When Christian died (we know he really didn’t) you would think if Chelsea had a problem with Adam not claiming his own son she would bring it up and tell him to have his own paternity test or at least discuss the situation together. This is what I feel is poor writing. If this leads to Chadam breaking up I will be taking another break from Y&R. Sorry for the long rant. I never understand how Y&R continues to be #1 in ratings because I watch both GH and DOOL and find the writing to be really good. jmho
hmmm – when billy miller was on y&r he wasn’t allowed time off to audition for pilots or other projects that is why he left the show………………..i wonder why justin was allowed to do auditions
I hope Michael M goes to another soap, never to return to YR as long as
Eric B is there..Eric B runs YR, that’s why Sharon Case is thrown under the bus.
She has been isolated from the cast. Mr B does not like her since she didn’t want to
Be married to Victor..can you blame her..
Justin H can leave any time, he looks good but so sick of him. Hate Adam and
Chelsea. Sage can leave too. The story she is doing now was for Avery.
But no , no talent Kelly S. Got it…
Ready for YR veterans to be front and center
What happened to the McGyver rumors?
I hope Justin does both shows then we can see more of him and I do mean more, Yummy
General Hospital
‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up about the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing, during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).
On last week’s episodes of GH, Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door, he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned.
Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT
Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where Dante and Elizabeth previously, recalling, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, ‘Well, so much for that!'”
Fast-forward to early 2025 and as Zamprogna remembered it, “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said, ‘We’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth,’ My internal monologue is going, ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is … or not.”
Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprogna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric … and a big fan base with with Jason … and you know, you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES
In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is 100% down for. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.”
Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit, The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”
You can check out Dominic’s visit to That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford below.
Now weigh-in: Are you rooting for Dante and Liz, or Dante and Ric at this juncture of the story, or neither guy for Elizabeth? Let us know your thoughts and picks via the comment section.

General Hospital
GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.
However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.
Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG
Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!
Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”
MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).
Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY
Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”
It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”
A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”
He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”
Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.”
So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.
