This past Friday, Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea) was treated to a very special baby shower for her newborn on the way by some of her castmates: Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe), Greg Rikaart (Kevin), Michelle Stafford (Phyllis) and Joshua Morrow (Nick).

The gathering was held at The Grove near CBS Television City, where Y&R tapes.

Attending were not only the hosts, but Missy’s other castmates including: Brytni Sarpy (Elena), Bryton James (Devon), Peter Bergman (Jack), Camryn Grimes (Mariah), Mishael Morgan (Amanda), and more.

On her Instagram, Melissa had some special shout-outs to those who worked to put together the baby shower for her: “I’m so lucky to have a job I love so much, playing a role I love so much, with THESE PEOPLE THAT I LOVE SO MUCH!! Beyond grateful. Thank you @e.c.hendrickson, @gregrikaart, @therealstafford, & @joshuamorrowyr for throwing me my work baby shower. I’m spoiled and I know it!!! Thank you guys, and thanks to all you amazingly supportive fans who watch the show, and have sent your love my way during this time. It will forever mean the world to me, @katrosar, and this new little man💙”

Take a look at some of the moments from the baby shower through our photo gallery below.

Now that Missy is on maternity leave from Y&R, share your well-wishes to her and dad-to-be Matt Katrosar via the comment section.

Congrats and blessings!!
But, back to Y&R—-Sharon has no worries about her’missing’ daughter—-makes no sense. Yet, Adam is on her mind. Ok. Whatever.
Jack is revisiting his teen years where he’s not thinking with his head—Hmmmm.
I beg TPTB to please get rid of Sally and Tara. If the show wants to lose viewers, then keep them—–Sally is over-the-top annoying, and Tara’s face looks like she’s constantly constipated. The ridiculous pained expression on her face is not very attractive.
The best thing to have happen would be to discover that the DNA test regarding Harrison’s paternity has been compromised. Thus, Kyle leaves to join Summer in Italy.

Celia: Yes, yes, yes, and Yes! Sharon just needs to cut Rey loose and jump on Adam’s, uh, hope to have them reconcile. Sally acts like a cartoon character, every look and gesture is too big and melodramatic. Tara, the Queen of Pale Polyester, is beyond low. She’s not a fun villain, like Victor or like Ava Jerome used to be. Tara’s just annoying; whether it’s constipation or just catatonia I don’t even care anymore. Just get RID OF HER! As far as Mariah’s absence, you know we’re in trouble when Tessa is the most clued in that something’s wrong. Right now, Adam, Phyllis, and Victor are all that’s keeping me watching. Faith & Moses? He’s gonna need to part the Red Sea to make that pairing interesting! Yawn… they’re as dull as Sam & Dante.

OMG, Soaphound!!—I’m with you 100%!! You’re too funny!! You describe Sally to the letter—-if her mouth did not exaggeratedly move all over her face, she’d be less antipathetic.
Tara, Tara, Tara—firstly, if TPTB wanted to impress the viewer and Kyle with a femme fatale, a full-figured character would be fitting for the role. She has a very adolescent-boy-like body, lacking that certain je ne sais quoi element and come hither characteristic/quality. My Italian mother-in-law calls her the fake “Veronica Piangente”, the pius woman—this saint, would wipe the tears and sweat off the afflicted’s faces — thus, “piangente”, meaning, crying.
Moses looks 11–my son’s age, and just as tall. He towes over me, like his father. LOL You are so right!! What are ye-soap-gods thinking when casting some of these actors?
Sam and Dante—my favorite people–NOT!!

PS—Soaphound, I’ve never liked Tessa—ever!!— Yes, I know she supposedly loves Mariah to death, pardon the pun, but Tessa is the ‘death’ of her.
I’ve had my suspicions about her forever—-is she aware of something? Does she know Mariah’s kidnapper? Was her disappearance orchestrated and executed by Tessa? Hmmmm.
Gee—I’m watching as I’m typing—-Poor, poor, vitimized Tara—what a sycophant!! Does her raspy voice and lamentation equate to Circe’s siren song? No way!!
More fool Kyle and his father —to fall for such guile makes them look like idiots!! Kyle is young—understandable. But, Jack?
I wonder if Jack is just playing along to get to the truth. Do you think he’s got Sally’s number?—possibly Tara’s??

Oh Celia, I WISH Jack could figure these vixens out on his own. But alas, when has he ever? I do, however, love watching Phyllis in battle mode. FINALLY, these two vindictive users are starting to sweat. No thanks to the Abbott men. Heck, Amanda is more clued in than Kyle or Jack. I bet Mrs. Martinez is also more aware than they are!

Yeah—-right on, Soaphound!! LOL.
I am not a fan of Jack’s —-Y&R is my favorite soap, however. I’ve been watching since the tender age of forever!! I guess ( and this is so redundant on my part) Sharon’s and Nick’s love reeled me in. I don’t quite recall the year, but I was a pre-teen with stars in my eyes —
I don’t know why, but Jack still rubs me the wrong way. So, if he is blind to both Sally’s and Tara’s machinations, then he deserves whatever befalls him as a consequence. These writers are turning him into a senseless, desperate cretin.
Phyllis is and always has been my favorite character ( I also loved her as Nina (GH)—). I suppose the fact that I am completely enthralled by the actress has a lot to do with it. She is simply perfection. Second to her is Maura West, with Kelly Thiebaud right behind her.
And, as yourself, I am really enjoying the head games Phyllis is playing with those two shrews—
This is Phyllis’ arena—she know how to play and the ball is in her court, albeit she has no proof. Nonetheless, she did plant the seed in the viragos’ minds Something will definitely grow in there and their heads will explode.

Thanks, Celia, for including Kelly in that group of extraordinary actresses. She’s become my favorite GH lady, along with Maura West. And Michelle Stafford’s recent performances are due for legendary status. The other day when she hollered at Jack, “This is MY DAUGHTER’S life they’re messing with!”, you could see the tears forming and her face lighting on fire. It was an ECSTATIC moment.

heeeeyy Celia 🙂

WOHA! She is huge! is she having triplets ??
and———–
Sharon and Adam are like rock&roll- they will never die !!
and———-
Sally and Tara are already being set up for their departure.
and———–
Harrison is a con, not going to be Kyles.
and————
Y&R stinks of roadkill…YUCK!

Oh su000, if I hear the name of poor, delicate, sensitive little Harrison invoked once more..!! He’s gonna be “permanently scarred” from Ashland’s little tantrum. Really? How about when he finds out what a treacherous schemer his mommy is? Between this spoiled little brat and the “Wiley Mania” that’s infected Port Charles, I feel like today’s kids are going to grow up with the strength and resilience of a wet paper towel.

hi Soaphound 🙂
Harrison won’t remember any of it..
and-
he won’t be scared for life..
Harrison will be a millionaire by age 16- lol
He will be well to do..
I don’t know know how old he is but by looking at him
and me trying to recall anything at thata ge. nope, I got nada! lol

As usual, SusieQ— you are forever the in-your-face poster—I love it!! You make my day!!
Yup, Sharon should untie her wedded apron strings and jump Adam. I wasn’t into them at first because of the age difference? But, hey–they work!! Ray is too tame–
I am almost certain Harrison is not Kyle’s —unless the role of Kyle will be recast.

So good to hear your voice again! Once more, you are spot-on with the misguided storylines for characters that ought to know better.

I’m still waiting for Sally to connect with Adam once he returns to the “dark side” where he belongs.

Missed story ideas: Ashland and Tara “faked all of this” just to get everything from both the Newmans’ and Abbotts’ businesses. And, as ugly as it sounds– the Amanda story should find that her grandfather is more than her grandfather…. never mind.

Hey, Ron—-long time, my friend. I see you are doing well—-missed your satirical wit.
I just noticed your comment, albeit I am not sure it was meant for me. I haven’t been receiving any notifications—I have to go to the site to find out.
More houses are going up in this street ( it’s actually a circle) and my husband and I think it’s interfering with the cable system. My phone has a mind of its own—so does my tablet.
Anyway—WOW—-you surely give a mind boggling spin’s story—–veeeery inteereesting!! LOL Wouldn’t that stir the already fetid pot!!
DOUBLE WOW about Amanda!! Hmmmm—you got me going here…Do you mean he’s her father? Unchartered territory that. It certainly would be sensational.

Hello, again– yes, the Sutton inference was where I was going. I couldn’t seen any other reason why Amanda’s mother would be willing to go to prison to save his neck except she really truly wants to keep something kept secret.
Cable systems and missed notifications: welcome to the 21st century. Here’s hoping “infrastructure” will happen!
Don’t recall when we last corresponded, but did I tell you my eldest ended up choosing Syracuse? Loves it… we love it… would love to move out there somewhere!
Take care… I don’t like misusing these boards.

I certainly do remember, Ron—-glad your son has settled in—liking a College’s ambiance; feeling part of its “walls”, per se, is right up there with a student’s well-being—Wish him the best in all his endeavors.
I love both Syracuse proper, and its outskirts. It’s very reminiscent of some parts of Toronto (Canada) and environs.
I wouldn’t mind living there myself.
We are human, Ron—-sometimes we get caught with personal conversations—no worries—albeit, your thoughts about certain people on Y&R are still circling in my head. LOL—can’t wait until it all plays out!!

Ron
Sally and Adam? That’s kind of out in left field isn’t it, but on the Soaps anything can and does happen. My money is on Rey and Chelsea only because Rey has been singing her praises for a while now, even before escorting her on her trip to be with her mother. Even Sharon noticed, who by the way is looking a little different to me, some facial work maybe? This Tara and Ashland thing is a mystery for sure, especially if he’s faking his illness, poor Victoria. I can not wait for Phyllis to bust those two bitches, Sally and Tara. When this is over, I bet Sally will wish she’d never met that pasty face witch.

Thank you for the laughs regarding Phyllis. Tara, Sally– 3 witches going after one another!
I do agree with you that Rey and Chelsea are rather chummy; it’ll be an interesting storyline when Melissa returns from the pregnancy. A friend mentioned something about Adam and Chloe growing closer– that would be an interesting twist. If that’s the case, then he’s using her to prove she helped Chelsea frame him. We shall see.

Hey, Ron,—-the more I think about your words, the more I see the scheme unfolding.
I think you are right—Ashland and Tara are working together—-even going as far as tampering with Harrison’s DNA test and he proposing marriage to Victoria.
Golly Gee, LOL…..Chances are Ashland is broke—that’s why he’s selling real estate and notable art.
Exactly the reason why Lauren is having difficulties with Tara not producing “documents”—
So intricate, yet so simple—Voila’

That is one party I’d love to have attended. All the fun ladies and gorgeous Greg and Joshua. Soap stars seem so much happier and supportive of one another than film stars. When I read some of the bios of stars like Steve McQueen and James Dean, I get shivers. All that paranoia and neuroses. Of course there are also stars renowned for their kindness and humility with coworkers and crew, like Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, Natalie Wood. Soap stars just seem like more fun!

Congrats to Melissa and hubby. So exciting to be waiting for their new son. So nice remembering her, Elizabeth Hendrickson and Rebecca Buddig, who were all together on AMC.Too bad Billy Miller who played Melissa’s psychotic brother on that same show wasn’t there. Of course he would have stolen the attention away from the baby business. I really miss him playing Billy or anyone, actually. This Billy has been getting on my nerves lately, always sneaking around trying to dig up dirt on someone and will never believe he’s as much in love with Lily as he professes. There is nothing between these two, especially remembering the fire he had going with Gina Tog. when she was playing Phyllis. Could not imagine him with Stafford in a a million years.

Congrats. What a joyous time. Sending warm thoughts and prayers. What a nice shower your friends gave you.

‘Brilliant Minds’ Officially Canceled After 2 Seasons at NBC; DAYS Alum Al Calderon, OLTL Alum Teddy Sears and Zachary Quinto Among the Cast

After languishing on the bubble for months, on Friday, NBC handed down the decision and canceled the medical drama Brilliant Minds after two seasons.

Brilliant Minds stars Zachary Quinto as neurology physician Oliver Wolf, who’s character and the series is inspired by the life and books of neurologist. Oliver Sacks. The series focuses on the medical mysteries of the mind, as Wolf a larger-than-life neurologist and his team of interns explore the last great frontier, the human mind, while grappling with their own relationships and mental health.

The final six episodes of what will now be the end of its second and final season were already set to air beginning on May 27, after being pulled off the network schedule in February as viewership saw a steep decline. Brilliant Minds second season became the lowest-rated drama on linear TV viewing, which didn’t bode well fo a network renewal, although it had its hard core fan base.

There are some exceptional notables in the cast along with the talented Quinto that includes Days of Our Lives alum, Al Calderon (ex-Javi Hernandez) who joined the series in its second season as Nurse Nico Silva, and One Life to Live alum, Teddy Sears (ex-Chad Bennett) who plays Wolf’s love interest and fellow physician, Dr. Josh Nichols.

The rest of the talented cast includes: Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh LaThrop, Alex MacNicoll, Aury Krebs, Spence Moore II, Donna Murphy, John Clarence Stewart, and Brian Altemus.

In an ironic twist of fate on Thursday, April 30, Days of Our Lives finally revealed the actor who was Al Calderon’s successor in the role of Javi, when they announced that actor Jacob Martinez had now stepped into the role. Since DAYS tapes ten months ahead of streaming new episode, Calderon left in the spring of 2025, but will be seen in the part for the final part this month, and then on June 20, Martinez debuts as Salem’s new Javi.

Taking to his Instagram with a sorrowful and heartfelt post on the Brilliant Minds cancellation was Teddy Sears who wrote, “Thank you, Brilliant Minds. I got the call today and I didn’t want to hear, but I knew that it would come, You have to be a particular vintage to quote Don Henley from memory, but that’s the line that came to mind earlier today after I got off the phone with our inimitable showrunner Michael Grassi who delivered the news that NBC has cancelled the series”.

Photo: NBC

Sears continued, “To say that I feel sad to be moving on from these stories, this character, and this cast and crew just doesn’t paint the entire picture. I’m sad, sure. But I’m also deeply grateful that I got hired to play this part, so proud of the stories we told, and the other actors I got to play alongside. I’m excited to see what comes next, what adventures await, and terrified to be without a professional home. A quick and heartfelt thank you to everyone, all over the globe, who found us and found themselves in us, in our characters and in our stories. We wouldn’t have been able to tell them without you. And we still have 6 fresh episodes yet to air, and I do hope you tune in enjoy the remainder of the series. They’re the best we’ve done.”

As he wrapped up his sentiments, Sears signed off with, “The more I know, the less I understand. All the things I figured out I have to learn again. I’ve been trying to get down to the heart of the matter. But everything changes…Thank you, Brilliant Minds.”

The medical drama was created and executive produced by Michael Grassi alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Lee Toland Krieger, DeMane Davis, Jasmine Russ, Henrik Bastin, Jonathan Cavendish, Andy Serkis and Shefali Malhoutra.

Taking to his Instagram to celebrate the nominations, GH’s Bennett, enthused, “3 Critic Choice Nominations! I’m so proud of the FINDING MR CHRISTMAS and to be in the company of all the legends in all these categories is so surreal! Congrats to Hallmark Channel and to our nominated cast and nominated show and everyone who made this magical show possible. This is crazy! This gives FMC 6 Critics Choice nominations in 2 years. Not bad for a little show on Hallmark Channel. What are your thoughts on our show?” Jumping first into the comment thread was one of his new GH co-stars, Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) who expressed, “Yeah buddy!!!🔥🔥”

In the series, Bennett, the host and co-creator spends eight weeks guiding 10 aspiring actors through a series of “festive face-offs” and acting challenges alongside actors like soap opera notables, Hunter King (ex-Summer, Y&R) and Alison Sweeney (Sami, DAYS). Along the way, they develop their skills and a bond with one another. The show, which is available on Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Plus, highlights LGBTQ+ representation with openly gay contestants vying to be the next Hallmark star.

It should be noted that Traitors received the most Critics Choice Real TV Award nominations with 6 nods, followed by Dancing with the Stars with 4.

Bennett is very familiar to daytime fans having started his career as JR Chandler on All My Children in 2000-2001, before landing the part of Aaron Samuels in the motion picture, Mean Girls in 2004 starring Lindsay Lohan, which would become his breakout performance.

‘General Hospital’s’ Kelly Thiebaud on Britt and Cassius Sibling Drama, But Who Will Ultimately Blow His Cover?

Published

on

By

On the April 30 episode of General Hospital, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) had some choice words and warning for her brother Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey) who has been masquerading as his twin, the very dead, Nathan West.

As the story has unfolded, viewers learned that Britt knew all along that when “Nathan” showed up in Port Charles seemingly resurrected with a missing 7 years of his life unexplained, that Cassius was taking his place.

Now in developments on today’s GH, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) is figuring out that this guy pretending to be Nathan is someone else, and Cassius learns from Britt, that Joss is not just a ditzy sorority girl as he claimed, but a WSB agent! The moment stuns Cassius. Are the walls about to close in on him and his charade?

Courtesy/ABC

Daytime Emmy winner, Kelly Thiebaud spoke to Soap Opera Digest, about the story point and getting the opportunity this time back at GH to work with Ryan Paevey, when she hadn’t had the chance to before.

BROTHERLY LOVE?

Thiebaud expressed on sharing scenes with Ryan Paevey, “It’s just been so wonderful to have him back and to actually work with him! When he first came onto the show (as Nathan at the end of 2013) I was kind of heading out — it was right towards the end of my contract, so we didn’t actually work together a ton. It’s been really refreshing and so much fun to really spend time together and get to know each other and work together. I think we have really great on-camera chemistry and banter with each other. I really enjoy working with him.”

With the stakes at an all-time, Thiebaud explained how she views her on-screen alter-ego’s involvement with her more hot-to-temper sibling and why Britt revealed the truth about Josslyn to him. “People finding out about Cassius would expose what she’s involved in and what she agreed to do,” explains Kelly “And now Josslyn is digging around, and she’s connected to Carly (Laura Wright) to Jason (Steve Burton) and that whole dynamic! It’s messy!”

BRITT’S MURKY FUTURE

Britt has currently also reached her breaking point with Jason being carted away by the WSB, Rocco (Finn Carr), the child she gave birth to, shooting Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) to protect her and Jason, Marco (Adrian Anchondo) being killed after trying to help her, and Cullum holding over her head getting her Huntington’s disease medication to control her symptoms, while blackmailing her into finishing the research on her father, Cesar Faison’s, final project. Thiebaud summed it up best for Britt right now, sharing, “It’s been a really tough time for her.”

So, who do you think will be the person to blow Cassius’ cover? Will it be Britt herself? Josslyn? Liesl? Brennan? Nina? Lulu? Rocco, Maxie, Cullum or someone else? Let us know your pick in the comment section.
