Y&R's Michael Muhney on Adam's dirty deeds and lovin' Sharon!

Oh what a tangled web he weaves! Yes, Adam on Y&R is truly the guy that everyone is waiting to see how and when he might and will get his comeuppance.  Well, in the meantime Adam’s portrayer, Michael Muhney spoke with SOAPnet.com for an enlightening interview and in particular his thoughts on Adam’s “quickie” marriage to Sharon.  Now, does Adam truly love this gal?  You know he wants to stick it to Nick Newman.   Here’s what Muhney had to say:

“I spoke with [head writer] Maria Arena Bell about this early on, before the storyline started playing out, and she and I both were on the same page that in order for this story truly to work, whatever end the story has, he has to truly, truly be in love with her. Because if he’s manipulating her in any way, or it’s a ruse, then I think he is about as cruel as a human being can be (if you would even classify someone that cruel as a human being).

“Initially he took an interest in her because he saw such a bright light in her — someone who had gone through something so tragic, and of course, he felt so guilty. He wasn’t hanging around her to protect himself or to cover his tracks or to monitor her … that makes no sense. The best thing to do — there’s no witnesses, there’s nobody who knows anything — just get out of dodge. But he put himself in harm’s way because he was so intrigued by her and so drawn to her. And there’s a strong correlation to [Adam’s mother] Hope: someone who’s a very good mother, who’s very passive, sweet, understanding, kind, and forgiving — but also a very strong person underneath it all. He sees the strength in Sharon.”

“It’s funny to hear people say: ‘Oh, they got married after a month.’ I don’t understand when people started looking at their calendars, but they had been talking and having wine and opening up to one another one-on-one a month before Halloween came around. And then there was a significant amount of build-up in the relationship to Thanksgiving, and then, of course, to Christmas. Over the months, he has done the one thing that I think he feels he would never fall victim to, and that’s give in to his emotion. He’s fallen deeply in love with her. He has found that there’s a by-product to this — that it gets under Nick’s skin and Jack’s skin, to say the very least. There’s a bonus there, but that’s certainly not the reason to be with her. If that was his motive, he could have easily, in my opinion, just continued to date her, and it would have infuriated everyone. But to get married takes it to a level where it’s just not a game anymore. Like he said on New Year’s Eve when he and Sharon were laying in the hospital bed — he loves her enough for the both of them. He understands and embraces the fact that she has a past, and a history with Nick, but he believes he can be a part of her future. I think he’s not delusional to believe that, because after all, they’re married now!”

Corbin Bernsen to Reprise His Role of Arnie Becker in ‘LA Law’ Revival Pilot

Corbin Bernsen (Father Todd, The Young and the Restless) and the son of Y&R’s late great Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor) has signed on to reprise his signature primetime television role of womanizing lawyer Arnie Becker in the upcoming LA Law revival pilot.

This makes Corbin the co-lead of the series alongside Blair Underwood (Ex-OLTL) who previously signed on to the pilot to reprise his role of Jonathan Rollins.  ABC has greenlit the pilot.

According to Deadline, it is believed that Bernsen and Underwood will be the only original members of the mid 80’s-90’s legal drama on NBC in the pilot, but more may guest-star if the show gets picked up for a full-season order.

In the premise of the reboot, the law firm of McKenzie Brackman, now named Becker Rollins, reinvents itself as a litigation firm specializing in only the most high profile, boundary pushing and incendiary cases.  The show will feature familiar characters working alongside new ones on the most hot button issues of the day.  As for Bernsen’s Becker, now in his 60’s, look for him to struggle with a rapidly shifting sexual and political landscape.

The original LA Law ran for eight seasons from September 15, 1986 to May 19, 1994 on NBC.

So, what do you think of Corbin taking on the role of Arnie Becket in a revival of LA Law? Would you be intrigued to check out the show if it makes it to series? Comment below.
