This week, kicks-off a very special guest appearance by Telma Hopkins on CBS’ The Young and the Restless.  Hopkins plays Denise Tolliver, a private eye with some very important intel for Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan), about her past, her father, and her biological family drama.

Telma’s guest stint on Y&R reunites her with her dear friend and former on-screen son, Bryton James (Devon Hamilton) after they appeared together on the late 80’s and 90’s sitcom Family Matters.  Fans of the comedy series remember a very young Bryton as Richie Crawford and Telma as his mother, Rachel.  Year laters, they now have the opportunity to work together in Genoa City.

In a new interview out today on the Michael Fairman Channel, Telma and Bryton chat virtually with Michael, and we learn that Telma is a longtime fan of Y&R, a huge fan of Mishael Morgan’s, and just how Denise Tolliver’s arrival in Genoa City will set the stage for fireworks to come.

And while Telma and Bryton reminisce about first their first impressions of each other on the Family Matters set, we also delve into another key part of Hopkins career as part of the iconic singing trio Tony Orlando and Dawn, whose hit singles included: “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole’ Oak Tree”, “Candida”, “She Don’t Love You” and more.

So happy to make Denise Tolliver’s acquaintance—-I love Telma on “Family Matters'” reruns—-her smile is contagious!! Plus, my great-aunt was telling me that “Tie A Yellow Ribbon….” ( Tony Orlando And Dawn) was one of the songs sung at her wedding reception. Welcome to my screen, Telma!!—-her re-interaction with Bryton will be something to see—amazing!! Aside—I have no other “space” to voice my opinion—soooo….. I think Tara has an agenda. She strikes me as this jaded woman who lured Kyle into her sexual web. How old was he at the time? She’s obviously much older— I may be wrong, but… Read more »

Yes, as much as Ash was initially pinned as the evil one, I too think that Tara is out for revenge, and has been plotting this all along. I just do not recall the original communication between Tara and Kyle when this storyline was beginning. I do see Tara as a possible love interest for Nick. I cannot stand him with Phyllis, and that might make things interesting for him, for his character has been sooooooo boring. Anyways, I agree that Tara has an ulterior motive. And how adorable was Bryton back in the days of Family Matters.

Hi, Margherita— You must be Italian–from the spelling of your name, that is. My sister-in-law has the same name—she goes by Rita. I do not like Tara—she is no femme fatale. A more enticing, come-hither persona could have been chosen. Nothing appealing about her. She seems to have no life in her—-too much of a damsel in distress—I get the same creepy feeling from Sally. Two characters I would love to see gone. As far as Nick and Phyllis—I agree. I’ve always rooted for Phyllis and Ronan. The sexual tension was tangible—-Yet, I am happy to see Michelle back where… Read more »

I agree with regards to Phyllis and Ronan. Nina did mention him be name not too long ago so maybe that son will return to Genoa City before Chance does…

I think Amanda will be very disappointed when everything is exposed concerning her family. Sometimes it’s better to leave things alone.
I also am afraid if Tara isn’t the con woman I think she is, she and Jack will be a couple, unless she succeeds in breaking up Kyle and Summer. Harrison is really cute but would like to hear him say more than one word at a time. I will not say anything about Billy Boy, he says it all for himself, ugh!
