Wow……………Y&R really cleaned up the nominations!
FINALLY, Katherine Kelly Lang made the list of nominations.
Why in the world is Bryton James nominated for Younger Actor??? He didn’t do anything!

B&B will win Best Drama!!!

How in the world did KKL get nominated. She is not a good actress. Guess they didn’t have too many to pick from.

KKL was LONGGGGG overdue. I’m happy she’s nominated!!

SHARON CASE Y&r BETTER OF MADE BEST ACTRESS OR IM SO DONE FINALLY WITH THIS SHOW FOR GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why are you getting mad at the show? Ms Case submitted a reel, she got a pre nom. It was the final panel from the Academy that decided on the nominations, and it will be members of the Academy that will vote for the winner. It has nothing to do with the show. If you want to protest something — don’t watch the Emmy broadcast, complaini about the way nominations are selected, but don’t stop watching the show, that is a little like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS !!!!!!!!!!!! SHARON CASE IS THE BEST OF THE BEST! NO ONE DESERVES BEST ACTRESS MORE THAN HER. YET YOU HAVE THESE FOOLS LIKE MCE AND JESSICIA C. AVERY AND CHELSEA WHO MAKE THE SHOW SUCK #BULLSHIT! DONE!

Sharon Case is the best actress why are these nobody untalented there? Sharon case was robed like no other! I am sick of this this must stop! i will not watch!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHARON CASE DESERVES THE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SHARON CASE IS NOT THERE?????? WHY??????? SHE IS THE BEST SHE DELIVERED THE MOST VERSATILE PERFORMANCE THIS PAST YEAR SHE IS THE ONE AND ONLY BEST ACTRESS ON Y&R! i WILL NOT WATCH. ALSO THESE NEW PEOPLE LIKE AVERY AND CHELSEA WHO ARE SO BORING MADE IT! OH IT REALLY IS OVER THE SOAP WORLD ISN’T IT! BOOOOOOOO

REALLY????? WTF? What happened to the star of Young and the Restless best actress Sharon Case as Sharon Newman!!!!!!! You MUST of forgot her name I pray! She is the best actress!

What? Michelle Stafford? NOOOOO MCE aka Chelsea con artist! NOOOOO! That Avery cry baby! OKAY HELLO! Were is Sharon case? You forgot Sharon case the winner of course!

Yeah what about Sharon case she has really delivered that time she was on the run and that lady took her car wrecked and got killed and when Sharon was in the diner and saw it on the news that look on her face was classic and where she burned down victors house. Then again not all actors submit their work for an emmy I know Robin Strasser from one life to live doesn’t.

You forgot Sharon Newman aka Sharon Case! That is the winner! She was outstanding! She was put through more than I have every seen in 34 years of soaps. What a fantastic actress. I see people on there like MS MCE and JC all suck! #Y&R If Sharon does not win I protect the show enough already the writing has gotten so bad!!!!!!!

Your joking! PLEASE tell me this is a bad joke! it’s April fools Day right??? Okay why is it I do not see my favorite Sharon case in lights with stars rainbows and hearts around it? HUH? But I do see Ms. Cry baby EZ bake oven Avery and the worst character and Con artist who’s only talent is to complain and get pregnant on the show is up there!!! Im so disappointed! In the academy of Daytime for not recognizing the stellar performances by Sharon Case aka Sharon Newman Young and The Restless this year! I can not tell you the shock and dismay I have . Very upset! SHAME ON DAYTIME ACADEMY!

Sharon Case snubbed. Shameful! Doug Davidson Snubbed Shameful yet they have these idiots like MCE aka Chelsea and JC Avery who I can’t stand. Also MS really aka Phyllis. Again??? She will never win. We know its going to SF. Susan F. B&B

Yes, I agree Sharon Case was BADLY snubbed!!!!!
I was upset about that!!! 🙁 🙁

Bill, DD is nominated for Lead Actor!!! Look at the list!

In the Supporting I will be real shocked if KKL does not take this one home if she had put herself in lead she would of had to go up against Flannery I am sure that is why she put herself in supporting. I can’t see where ME or JC had the material to get the nomination. I guess cooking class and crayons were the motive yuck.

Doug Davidson didn’t get snubbed- he is on the list for Best Performance by a Lead Actor– Hopes he wins it– he deserves it.

It’s almost 35 years I’m watching Y&R. It most definitely was Sharon Case’s year. This was supposed to be her second win! Very disappointed in what is going on. MCE and JC who play Chelsea and Avery are the worst characters I can’t even deal with it. 🙁 🙁

I think the ladies of GH got robbed!!

I agreed. LW and FH should have gotten one. Suprised Maurice didn’t make it either.

Especially Finola Hughes

Kelly Sullivan should have been nominated!

I think Connie from GH should have been nominated for her split personalities. Her reliving the rape was incredible acting.

Kelly Sullivan for sure! The nominees from GH are ridiculous! I know the big 50th anniversary was on April fools day but damn what a joke! Lindsey Morgan?! Really?! I’ve never seen anything like this. I know sometimes the deserving actors get snubbed but that’s because the nominations went to other shows, not their own shows rejects! Someone’s dropping acid.

Absolutely AGREE!!! Finola and Laura lost out. GH lost out in a lot of the acting categories.

Completely robbed!

ESPECIALLY Kelly Sullivan, OMG

Finola Hughes got snubbed!

WTF! besides Jason Thompson all the nominees from GH are the ones I fugues wouldn’t make it thru the first cut. The panel must be drawing names out of a hat. The girl they dumped as Kristina because she can’t act got nominated?! Come on, this is hysterical. Makes GH look like crap tv on emmy nite when,it’s actually the best show on daytime by far. What are these people smoking?

Agreed!

I could not agree more, Matthew! GH has been the best soap last year and currently! Finola being snubbed with all of her work with Robin’s death and the Faision debacle is absolutely ridiculous!

There must be a conspiracy against GH’s powerhouse cast taking home any Emmy’s and instead if flat out snubbing the show they took the sneaky route and nominated everyone who thru their name in the ring with no reel to back it up. The panels obviously on crack.

Yeah, Peggy McCay got her nomination.

i will say this for sentiment.

I miss Shawn at the Brady Pub.

Caroline’s scenes w/Bo were Tears.

any scenes she has now…. w/Kayla and Victor are paid attention to.

her storyline – however short – were Affecting.

Yes, but Finola Hughes is all around perfection not just for a short
stint that Days has conveniently ended.

I miss the original Brady Fish Market the most 🙂

The actors on Y&R are stellar, but the stars in the sky go to Michael Muhney, Michelle Stafford, and Melissa Claire Egan!! Non Pareil!

NO! I am so sick of this MCE as Chelsea Y&R I can’t take it! I think the show is over #Y&R. Why is she even on this show! #RIDICULOUS!

she was nominated for emmys on AMC… and I don’t get it. (?)

what is her game? she doesn’t keep my attention…

so, i must be missing her act.

she’s doing the same thing, like on AMC…. keeping the couple’s apart….
JR and Babe
Adam and Sharon.

outside of that… no real permanence to draw from….

ARE THEY BLIND! I CAN’T STAND AVERY JC AND CHELSEA MCE ON Y&R! OMG IT IS SO OVER. SHARON CASE IS MY WINNER. HOW MUCH MORE CAN I TAKE / I MISS BILL BELL! 🙁

They threw Sharon Case under the bus after giving her the lousiest roles in daytime history. She gave her all to the garbage and this is what she get. Only to be overlooked because Stafford is their golden girl. This has got to stop and believe me it will. There’s an old saying and so very true. You reap what you sow. Stafford has done nothing this past year that is deserving of an emmy nod. It’s favortism. Something has to change. Case has been done wrong for way too long and it needs to stop. She is an outstanding actress and she deserves better writing than what they have been giving her. With the slop they have given her lately she deserves better than to be tossed aside like yesterday’s news.

I agree. Sharon Case was so robbed! So sad what they did. She had this with a land slid. She gave a very diverse performance ever this past year and she keeps giving it to us. Im a fan 35 yrs with this show and I know she was supposed to win best actress. We all know what is going on here! 🙁

YAY One Life to Live!!!!

there was only 4 nom in each category. OLTL wasn’t announced this morning for Best Drama. Probably was a typo.

I hope OLTL isn’t getting over looked again! They deserve a piece of the pie & more.
Erika Slezak is THE BEST along with Robin Strasser!

OLTL should have swept the nominations! I watch most of the shows and the last two weeks of OLTL was by far better than anything else last year! Even better than Ron’s writing on GH!

Lindsey Morgan?!?!?

Are they deaf dumb and blind?

It could have been worse. Molly (don’t know her real name) got the pre-nom. LM is difinitely a more deserving one comparing to Molly.

Lol RJM! They must be all three. If the category was called ‘Worst actress that can’t cry real tears or convincingly deliver a single line’ then You could justify her nomination.

some VERY pleasant surprises!

And some highly disturbing ones!

scott clifton????? are you serious???? all he did was stand there looking baffled in every scene……………..

I agree with you and they were others more deserving

I think Kelly Sullivan should have been on the nominee list.
She was fantastic during the whole Kate/Connie
Storyline!

totally agree

I don’t watch Y&R but judging by the reaction from fans on here it sounds like the panel nominated all the dime a dozen actors from that show just like the bench warmers that were nominated for GH. The

panel didn’t watch the reels. They watched The Walking while filling out their ballots.

Congratulations to Michelle Stafford. So we’ll deserved! She has been backbenched since new regime arrived and yet she is BOSS. So richly deserving. I could watch her read the phone book. I was looking forward to self entitlement seething rage from Muhney but he got nominated.
Now we have to live with his grandiose of perceived greatness. Loved that Jason, Peter and beautiful Doug got the nomination. He was so flawless in the Ricky storyline.
Sorry about MTS surprised by McKay did not know she was lead. Not surprised Case was not nominated..she should have put in for supporting. Scratching my head at Collins and James..Congratulations to all. These are my opinions and does not reflect my total. Disdain of Muhney&Case

YOU WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHARON CASE DESERVED to win ten fold! It’s almost 35 years I’m watching Y&R. It most definitely was Sharon Case’s year. This was supposed to be her second win! Very disappointed in what is going on. MCE and JC who play Chelsea and Avery are the worst characters I can’t even deal with it. BOOO HISSSSS 🙁

I agree that Michelle Stafford may still have that it factor – that take no prisoners – ACT. however… her belonging is tired… growing weary…..

Sharon Case delivered a multi-faceted year….

did she save Y&R from doldrums….. from spiraling.

judging from fan and serial press…. YES.

So thrilled for Doug Davidson.

i am too – hope he wins!!!

I do to Mary because he has been on this show next to Ms. Copper the longest no backstage drama no diva behavior no crying on Twitter about lack of storyline no making dirty comments behind his costars backs. Class act I will be crossing my fingers DD!

Chandler Massey is more Supporting that Younger Leading Man – doh.. Peggy McCay?? Exactly what did she do that deserves an Emmy nod? Where are the ladies from GH? Congrats to Jason Thompson & Ari Zuker.

The whole system is based on a reel that is under 5 minutes worth of work. Peggy McCay most likely submitted her scenes when she was coming to grips that she might have dementia. The problem is the whole awards system is flawed– I think it needs to rework or done away with.

I agree with you Mary. It has always been flawed and shouldn’t be based on a 5 minute reel but a majority of good work for the good year like Finola Hughes who is always on target in all her scenes not just a short story arc. Oh well..

Extremely pissed off!!! Y&R was absolutely HORRIBLE last year. 23 noms?? Are u kidding me???

i hear that the y&r has a big voting block, therefore the great showing for their show,i agree it sucks, but obviously if you have more people eligible to vote, they will and thats what they’ve done, even if they know they are not that deserving.

Block voting??? Well, I know who’s responsible for this……JILL FARREN PHELPS!!!! I think I remember hearing that she pulled the same stunt when she was at Another World.

My guess is that they got nominated for stuff late in the year AFTER MAB was long gone.

Sorry I have not seen an improvement Y&R still stinking it up all new people we care nothing about.

Y&R has gotten better now……..The writing has been good, a bit boring but the writing is still good!

LOL…. high 5 Shawn.

Extreme measures need to be dealt…. the ridiculous nature of the NATAS….

Panel.

seriously… honestly…..

judge correctly… with a passion.

Rule

The Ladies of GH…Laura Wright best actress in alllll of daytime
Kelly Sullivan AMAZING!!! Both ROBBED!!!! Emmys are not based on acting
It’s based on favoritism #overtheemmys

Yes you are so right Rod thanks for saying what I was thinking I would like to see Doug pick it up for Best Actor because this will probably be the last chance since he is once again being used for props for other undeserving cast members on that show. Lead actress would be nice if Peggy Mckay took it just because everyone else has won one. Even though I did not see her work since I do not watch Days.

Couldn’t agree more, Rod!

The ladies of General Hospital were ROBBED! Kelly Monaco and Laura Wright should have been nominated.

Oh my god. Where. the hell. is FINOLA?!!!!

Lol is that y and r got nominated for writing and hairstyling. this was before the new regime. Seriously! Finola got snubbed and kelly monaco gave a good performance last year. if gh had submitted the previous action episode, the would have gotten a stunt coordination nom.

Finola Hughes and Robin Mattson not being on here is ridiculous!! Why in the world are there only 4 Outstanding Lead Actress nominations? This sucks!!

I agree with all of you regarding the ladies of GH. Something’s rotten in Demark here. Kelly Sullivan (remembering Connie’s rape) was also an exceptional stand-out. Not nominating her, Finola, Robin, etc. makes no sense when you look at someone’s acting who is definitely not as seasoned, Lindsey Morgan as Kristina, who got a nomination, not to mention Y & R getting 23 nominations, when it was talked about all year how the show was pretty bad. This nomination process sucks!

Joel they are a joke anymore it is based on who kisses behind it make me sick!

Are they kidding me? How do Finola Hughes and Laura Wright get left out of the Lead Actress category? That’s an absolute travesty.

I’m also shocked to see that Roger Howarth for Lead Actor and Robin Mattson for Supporting Actress didn’t make it. They were both fantastic on GH last year. I would have thought they would have been a slam dunk for a nomination.

Did the people that vote on these nominations actually watch the tapes that were submitted, or do they just randomly check off whatever names on the list that they feel like checking off?

That’s the only explanation when someone like Lindsey Morgan gets a nomination, and no disrespect to her as a person, but she was not good on GH, and people that deliver day in and day out, like Finola Hughes, Laura Wright, Roger Howarth and Robin Mattson get left out. Very disappointing.

On the positive side, I’m very happy for Jason Thompson. At least they got that one right. I hope he wins.

I forgot to mention Kelly Sullivan as well. Another one that was pre-nominated and got left off the final list. How great was she during the peak of the Kate/Connie storyline? I remember watching her performances last year and thinking, “might as well shine up that Emmy for her right now”, and she doesn’t even get nominated. So many terrible snubs this year.

I agree with you!

Agree completely! I’m so damn ticked off!

Agree completely!!!

ditto on the slam dunk….

it’s numbing to have to realize – how every year –

and this isn’t even about my favorites…

GH left out on so many nominations….

Very happy for GH and OLTL! And congrats to all of the nominated performers, especially DOOL’s Chandler Massey and Freddie Smith. However, I agree with those who are saying that the Finola Hughes snub is inexplicably wrong.

It seems GH got snubbed in several categories. Very disappointing.

You all need to look at Frank Valentini, who has a horrible track record when it comes to nominating things. Ergo, the reason why GH probably didn’t do so well in the acting categories. With Y&R/B&B pretty much dominating the acting cats, I don’t see Y&R winning Drama Series, unless it was something that Jill Farren Phelps submitted that was far more superior than anything Maria Arena Bell did. If that’s the case, then Y&R may have a shot.

However, I’m thrilled for KKL for finally getting that elusive Emmy nom that she has so richly deserved over the years. My bets on her to win Supporting Actress. I’m also thrilled that OLTL finally got a Drama Series Emmy nod. It’s about time. Despite being a Y&R/B&B fan, I’m really hoping that OLTL takes the Drama Series Emmy.

Michael, it was MAB’s work!!!!!
B&B got best Drama unless if they decide to give it to OLTL……..

This is the reason why so many people don’t watch the ceremony…..because it always seems to be lop-sided when it comes to the nominations. I’m glad to see that OLTL made it for Writing & Drama Series though.

You are right about that, And I am also happy for One Life To Live, That soap is and will ALWAYS be my favorite soap, It is the best.

Sharon Case got snubbed again, but she get’s snubbed practically every year.

Politics are really bad over at Y&R it is really a click why do you think the same actors are nominated every year whether they have story or not very surprised but happy DD made the final cut.

I like Sharon Case, too, and if she is ever to win a nomination or Emmy, the writers need to realistically make her character strong. We need to see Sharon Newman really evolve into someone other than the drippy punching bag she has become (Thank you, MAB!). Let me see her risk something, lose something, find something in herself (not others!) to achieve or succeed or try (even if she fails). Sharon needs some stakes in life. Case is a fine actor done no ofavors by the plot lines given her in recent years.

It took until now — 25years! — for Katherine Kelly Lang to win a nomination. Why? Because Brooke Logan was played as a real human being who took a journey with Stephanie, one that challenged and changed her (until B&B threw Brook at Bill Spencer and suddenly all that strnegth and individual spirit conferred upon her by Stephanie was left on the Big Bear forest floor!).

ditto….

I watched Y&R for years….

heart sentiment….. Sharon Case.

yeah, she married in to the Newmans…

you have the Newmans – the Abbotts – and even the Chancellors…

yet… Sharon Case… stands out.

It is a lovely gesture all five broadcast dramas, including OLTL, received a nod as Best Dramatic Series. Still, I think only three merit the nod: GH (for consistent excellence); B&B (for the “Stephanie dies” storyline alone); and OLTL (its grand and satisfying finish on ABC).

I quibble with the noms for Y&R and B&B in the writing category. Serial dramas do seem to rely on recycled storylines but these two shows rely too much on that, and the storytelling quality has been less than what it has been in other years. Y&R surely gets lots of love from the academy, and in a year when the series was not strong overall. Allowances for the actors on the show, several of the best received noms today. I just wished they were served by better writing. Special cheer for Doug Davidson!

I am not embracing the acting nods for Bryton James on Y&R and Lindsey Morgan on GH. I think the nominators should have looked closer at Morgan’s on-screen sister, Haley Pullos. I also offer the idea that a Younger Actor should not be kept out of the Best Actor category only by age. Chandler Massey as Will on DOOL surely deserves a nom with the “big boys” as he carried (carries!) his storyline and is a lead on the series.

Glad to see Katherine Kelly Lang from B&B get a nomination. The B&B powers-that-be miss opportunities to go new challenging places with Brooke (please stop the endless mind-numbing mistakes in men) but her scenes with Susan Flannery in the “Stephanies dies” storyline were very good indeed.

And what about Peggy McCay from DOOL? Very good to see her name on the list today.

I am missing Finola Hughes (GH), Roger Howarth (OLTL and GH) and Robin Mattson (GH). I think they should be on the roster, too.

Chandler deserves to win no matter what category but you are right…he should be up there with the leads!

Can someone tell me if Venesa Marcil’s run is up on General Hospital. I thought she was hanging around, for awhile…….. not permanently, but for a little while. She appeared at just after April 1st, and last aired Friday April 19th. I don’t call that hanging around for awhile…..

Anyone know anything.

But they said Jax was hanging around, and he hasn’t been seen, only but to usher Brenda back in Port Charles and thus dump her.

Anyone know anything

Doug Davidson, (Paul Williams),The Young and the Restless should win this… The storyline with his son Ricky.!!!! A stellar performance from this fine actor… Please give Mr. Davidson more scripts worthy of his talent… He can handle it!!!

You are right. It will be between him and Michael Muhney. Muhney is good. He came in and made the Adam character his own. Davidson should have won it last year. He has been giving some stellar performances lately. They should give him more heavy roles to play because we all know he will nail them. The best leading actors on the show are Davidson and Muhney.

Agree. It’s time for DD to win!!!!
Shame PP didn’t make the final list for Supporting Actor!

Good for General Hospital and One life to live.

There are two who really deserve to win!!! The greatest of all time Susan Flannery who gave absolutely incredible performances and so did the stunning Katherine Kelly Lang as well!!!

Glad to see KKL finally got a nom. Too bad she had to go supporting to get it.

Don’t know why OLTL is on for Best Show as it wasn’t even on for a month in 2012, was it? But they go by one ep, so there you have it.

Nice to see Michael Muhney nominated.

Overall, I’d say I’m happy. There are some names I’d like to see, but that’s always the case, isn’t it?

Oltl was robbed last year from a nomination for best drama where clearly it was the best show in 2011. I would say its a nice surprise. In my opinion I think oltl should win for writing if they submitted those episodes involving Vicki’s speech. That’s what daytime soaps are all about.

I really think GH overall should have gotten more especially in the acting! I watched all of them last year and GH was always #1 for me, OLTL was #2, and after OLTL was gone Y&R took #2 in my opinion. The quality of the acting… for a whole show follows my favorite rankings above with individual exceptions… like Susan Flannery. To have GH miss out on so many truly talented performances is very shocking and disappointing.

With 11 fabulous actresses in the pre-nom process… to come up with only 4 is very sad!!! The 11 ladies are all very talented and their performances were great… but there are only some that would be stellar and in my opinion of the 4 nominated… only 1 was stellar and there could have been at least 2-3 more that were stellar worthy and they were not nominated… very unfortunate! There has for at least the last few years… been a CBS/Sony bias and it has continued into this year!

With 10 fabulous actors in the pre-nom process… there should have been more than 4!!! Of the 4 nominated I agree that they were nomination worthy… but 2-3 others are missing from the nomination process.

In both the supporting actress & actor categories… I am very disappointed with the final nominations… many missed opportunities. The only good thing about only 4 and of the 4 selected… my favorite… Bradford Anderson should have his best shot at a win this year!!!

Within the younger category… huge missed opportunities occurred… enough said!

Someone should tell the folks at GH who to pay off for these noms next year, because this is a joke. Aside from Jason Thomson, the others are not only the wrong actors to be nominated, but the ladies? Come on! Laura Wright, Kelly, Kelly Sullivan, Finola Hughes, Robin Mattson, where the hell are they? Even Roger Howarth should’ve been nominated! BB and Y&R got everything, which makes no sense unless it was a public vote. This has to be rigged.

ITA- the whole award system is either corrupted or simply a popularity contest with members voting for people they know. Most of us work day in and day out, and the reward is doing a job well and getting paid for it. I don’t need a little statue on my shelf- so why does the performing arts community whether it is film or music have this constant need to award their works? One reason- to promote themselves- it all about spin, not talent– about money, not excellence– time for the all these awards shows to go bye bye. I would love to see all actors refuse to submit reels next year and end this madness.

This list is unbelievable!! Where is Finola Hughes and Kelly Sullivan?! Why the hell is Bryton James, Max Erich, Hunter King, Jeff Branson, Jessica Collins, and Bradford Anderson nommed?! This is a joke! I’m happy Doug Davidson got a nomination, but where is the guy that played Ricky? He did a FABULOUS job in those bathroom scenes with Doug. I’m also happy Michael Muhney got nommed, but where is Sharon Case?! She did some of her BEST work in 2012! Lead actress and supporting actress, I guess won’t even matter with Flannery and Lang’s reels this year, and rightfully so, but I would like to see more people who deserve nominations be on this list.

I am hoping Kristen Alderson wins though, its a travesty that she has yet to win an Emmy with how many years she’s been on soaps and how many terrific performances she’s turned in,

ditto….

that it’ll be Flannery and Lang’s year –

along… with the upset that Michael Muhney could and deserves a win… just as much as the ubber best Jason Thompson.

i’m venting now… it’s a major upset and will be unbelievable till show time… that this has all happened.

KKL is a lead actress, what an insult!

Congrats to Ari Zucker, she definitely deserves this, hope she wins!!

Does anyone know what scenes the nominated actors and actress submitted? Has this info been released?

I agree, Ari NEEDS to win!

THIS is why the Emmys keep losing viewers BECAUSE THEY DON’T NOMINATE PEOPLE WHO DESERVE THEM.

How the hell did General Hospital not get more noms than Young and the Restless? Y&R was HORRIFIC last year and is slowly getting worse by each day! GH last year and to this day, have had compelling, emotional stories that turned out outstanding performances, especially from the ladies!! Robin Mattson, Finola Hughes, Laura Wright, and Kelly Sullivan completely deserved to be on this list. Kelly Monaco also was very powerful during the baby-switch storylines! Not to mention Maurice Bernard and Roger Howarth who were also brilliant in 2012! I’m happy to see Jason Thompson rightfully get a nom, but that doesn’t flush out the fact that 90% of these nominations read like a bad joke. I shouldn’t be surprised since this has been happening for the past few years, but I always hope that they will do better… and they never do. Pathetic.

this is an emotional tearful letdown….

no way else to explain this unnerving….. pathetic turn of events.

General Hospital’s Ladies…. are superlative…. individually and collectively…

Robbed! Pure and Simple.

I was so ready for this years show….

giving my all to GH’s….. actresses.

you know… i just read the ommissions and get tearful….

Happy for DOOL, especially Chandler and Arianne, but I find it hilarious that DOOL’s writing team wasn’t nominated! The show sucks and the ratings are low! So glad DOOL’s writing team didn’t get nominated!

HIP HIP HOORAY for….

drum role….. the fabulous Nicole and stepped up to the plate and knocks it outa the park Will…..

these two deserve the accolade…..

gotta throw in my fav…. Sonny.

He’s big timing it now.

geez! days writers….. can we PULHEASE… see… watch more Justin and Adrienne.

You make me sick and your opinions are. Offensively. To people and crew who work on the show

SO happy for Jacqueline MacInnes!!!! Good luck sweetie!!

As far as B&B for best writing team and drama. I don’t know about that one. All B&B fans know there’s been a certain triangle going on for the last three years that we’ve been begging them to end. As far as Stephanie’s death, that scene caused pandemonium with the fans. There were more people outraged about that then ever before. The B&B hotline crashed, their twitter was overrun. They really pissed off alot of fans with that like I have never, ever seen before. So I don’t know about them being the best writing team last year.

Where did you hear that??
Stephanie’s death was beautifully written and Celtic Woman performing!

Wow Y&R got more nominations than GH! I think the women of GH got snubbed.

Outstanding Drama
tie for GH & OLTL

Outstanding Younger Actress…
Kristen Alderson, GH

snubbed are Robin Mattison & Roger Howarth on GH

Outstanding Writing Team
tie for GH & OLTL

Outstanding Directing
GH

Outstanding Scenery Design
GH

imo
It is sad, but the NATAS have become nothing more than bullshit..

I would be happy if there were no phony NATAS..
Let the public vote and not have a swayed panel decide..

ditto…

there you have it…. people

i’m saying it too….. “this is bullshit”.

excuse us on occasion….

serious grievous error….

Happy for Jessica Collins! Love her. I think Sharon Case and Kelly Sullivan should have also been nominated. Shame!

Where is Laura Wright and especially Kelly Sullivan!!!????!

what a crying shame…

Literally….

especially for my girl…. Kelly Sullivan…

i’m still reeling with this.

it’s unconscionable – this defies explanation?

So, it is true…Michelle Stafford is someone’s golden girl. Sharon Case won that lead actress nomination face and hands down this go around. Stafford , no way. Something is wrong. I thought Lang belonged in the lead actress category. I believe they are trying to force some things down our throat that just aren’t there in the cards. Oh, well…………………………..The viewers should pick the winners so it can be fair. I have a problem with this. Something’s wrong. If Michael Muhney does not win for the lead actor category, I know for a fact that it’s something fishy going on.

The awards this is bad baloney that stinks to high heaven..

I am beyond thrilled for Katherine Kelly Lang! This recognition is long overdue. Congrats, KLL.

One Life To Live was so well-done right before it left network television – I really hope their amazing achievement under horrible circumstances gets recognized!

I vehemently agree with everyone who has rightly said that GH actresses Kelly Sullivan,Kelly Monaco,Finola Hughes,Laura Wright ad Robin Mattson were completely and utterly ROBBED. Roger Howarth and Maurice Benard should have nominated,as well. I hope at least Jason Thompson wins and that GH wins Drama Series and the technical awards.

your statement alone….

means… let’s not bother watching the emmy’s….

it’s a travesty…. a lie….

Connie – Sam – Anna – Carly – Heather….. Todd and Sonny. Top of the line ACT.

what are they on? the voting panel?

what retardation planet do they reside?

it’s clear cut…. Susan Flannery, B&B
Jason Thompson, GH
Katherine Kelly Lang, B&B
Bradford Anderson, GH

——————–

I’d love to see DAYS – Ari Zuker, “Nicole” – DOOL…. WIN to acknowledge Salem’ites.

————–

Stunning to even believe or surmise that this happened.

whats to say… thankfully so many fans are more right than wrong.

And millions of GH fans agree with you ..

The awards this year are disappointing , disreputable and a farce..

((( I protest) ))!!

DAYS OF OUR LIVES!

17 nominations!

A new record!

LOL….. ok….. last year they had 16.

Salem’ites WIN something! LOL.

red carpet for GOLD.

They had 15 last year and won 4.

Days needs to have wins this year! I am hoping for Chandler and Arianne, but Freddie and Peggy did a great job as well! But why is Arianne under Supporting instead of lead? That should be where Peggy is under!

I’m still staggered by all this…

the wind has been let out of my sails…

let alone who i wanted to even be considered and should have been submitted…

the ommissions… are glaring… and can’t believe.

General Hospital…. your actresses – collectively – REAL.

Nobody is happy with the nominees ..
That is what happens when there is panel who chose and not the public..
Undoubtedly the panel is made up of Y&R lovers..

What theses awards amount to is dress-up night bullshit, a steaming pile of bull ..

I won’t be watching, it is only fair.. (eye for an eye thing lol)
that panel had upset me so eh with them not watching..
I will go on-line and to see who the loser’s were, after it over over….

GH was over the top great this year as were many of the actors, shameful there was no notice of them..

this is all like the shot heard round the world….

where do we kick some ass!

Days Of Our Lives

Wally Kurth Talks on His DAYS Daytime Emmy Nomination, His Emotional Scenes, and Remembering John Aniston

During our 2023 year-end honors at Michael Fairman TV, we named Wally Kurth as our pick for Best Overall Performance by an Actor for his double-turn as both Ned Quartermaine on General Hospital and as Justin Kiriakis on Days of our Lives. So, it was absolutely no surprise to us that Wally landed a Daytime Emmy nomination for his riveting work as a grieving Justin in the Supporting Actor category for the upcoming 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

On DAYS, Justin had been put through the emotional wringer, of first, losing his beloved Uncle Vic, played by the late John Aniston, and then finding out that Victor was the supposed biological father to Justin’s son, Alex (Rob Scott Wilson). If you didn’t reach for the hankies during some of Kurth’s work in these scenes, we don’t know what will make you do so.

Michael Fairman TV caught up with Wally to get his reaction to his fourth Daytime Emmy nomination in the last six years. Kurth was nominated in the Supporting category in 2018, 2020 and now 2024 and Lead Actor in 2021.

In addition, Wally shares what scenes were on his nominated reel, how John Aniston impacted his work, how he has changed as an actor over the years with a new outlook, and being the only actor out there with two long-running roles on two long-running soaps, and much more. Here’s what Wally had to share below.

Congratulations on your well-deserved nomination. You decided to submit yourself this year for Emmy contention in both Lead Actor for GH and Supporting Actor at DAYS, correct?

WALLY: I did. I thought the DAYS reel was a little more dramatic, much more emotional. I had thought with the way the judging goes that it might be a little bit more, winnable, if you will. I enjoyed and was proud of my work at General Hospital, so it’s all good. I’m thrilled. It’s always nice to be nominated.

What scenes did you ultimately choose for your Supporting Actor reel?

WALLY: I started chronologically, as always, trying to tell a little bit of a story. I actually started with a scene where Justin has to tell Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) that Victor’s (the late John Aniston) plane went down and it was not found. Then, the scene with Bonnie (Judi Evans) where I sort of have to let it all out, and grieve the loss of this man who was practically Justin’s father, but it was his Uncle Vic. We have a little scene talking about Victor, and then there is a short snippet at the funeral where Justin eulogizes Victor. Next, we jump to scene where Justin discovers the letter where Angelica admits that indeed Victor is Alex’s father (Rob Scott Wilson). So then, Justin has to tell Alex, and then I also sort of grieve the fact that I’m no longer his father. Justin basically lost his son. It was very dramatic and very emotional. I was guessing the judges would be like, “Hey! Enough with the crying! Stop, you big baby!” But, they didn’t. They must have thought that it was convincing enough that it felt really truthful at how Justin was upset about these two unfortunate realizations.

Photo: JPI

You bring up a really good point. I talk to actors all the time about crying on Emmy reels. Sometimes, many feel it might put voters off. But obviously, this time it worked well for you!

WALLY:  What I liked about the crying scenes was that, like in real life, you’re not crying all the time when something bad is happening, right? I think crying happens and it takes you off guard. It happens without you realizing it. These were all moments when Justin was alone, really. Bonnie comes in the room where Justin is just kind of like dealing with it. And then her coming in, opens up Justin and she is there to hold him. I think that often happens in real life. I thought that was correct for the writers to do that, you know, that Justin would break down when he was alone.

Photo: JPI

Did you feel the pressure of wanting to get these scenes when Victor died and at his memorial, just right due to the enormity to it, and to do justice for John Aniston?

WALLY: I allowed myself to use my heartbreak over John Aniston. I loved him. I just sort of allowed his presence for me in the scenes. It was sweet. It was good for me. I’m just thinking about it now and I feel teary-eyed. John was such a sweet man. He led by example, and he really did teach me how to be a professional actor, and he was a mentor. He never told me anything specific, but he was just John, and in the scenes, this was the time for me tell him how I feel.

Photo: JPI

Then, you had the heartbreaking scenes with Rob Scott Wilson where Justin tells Alex he is not his father!

WALLY:  I thought that was just really challenging material. As I get older, I just trust the material, and don’t get ahead of myself. I trust myself with the emotion. Just let it happen if it happens. When I first read it, I kind of imagined what it could look like and then you just let it unfold from there.

You’ve got Robert Gossett (Marshall, GH), A Martinez (Nardo, The Bay), Mike Manning (Caleb, The Bay), and Bryton James (Devon, Y&R) all in your category. Robert has won two Daytime Emmys in a row, last year for Supporting Actor and the year before for Guest Performer.

WALLY:  l love Robert. I worked with the character Marshall on General Hospital, and we had so much fun. He’s a great guy and a really good actor. A Martinez is the best guy ever. I have such admiration for him. Whenever I see him, we always really connect and to be in included with him is great. Bryton James, I don’t know, but I know he beat me in this category in 2020. Mike Manning, I didn’t get the opportunity to know when he was at DAYS as he weren’t in scenes together, but I hear good things about him, too.

Photo: JPI

When you are judging Emmy reels, what do you look for when you’re voting on a performance?

WALLY: That’s a really great question. And because let’s face it, there’s just a lot of terrific talent in daytime. This year, I judged two categories. I don’t just go with, “Okay, who’s crying the most.” I really try to go with the one who’s touches me the most, who surprises me and moves me. And so, if you go with that, you’re probably going in the right direction. I also think that upfront you do need to kind of give them something in the first couple minutes that shows you know what you’re doing and don’t make it too repetitive.

Who did you first tell you were nominated?

WALLY: My manager, Michael Bruno called me. I was in Chicago with my daughters having a late breakfast and I knew the nominations were going to happen around 11 am Chicago time. I didn’t tell my daughters about what was happening, just in case, I didn’t get nominated. So, when Michael called, I went, “Oh, boy!” I told my daughters who were sitting at the table with me. So, they were the first two people that I could tell, and that was really nice.  We had champagne which was really funny because I bought three little glasses of champagne, and as soon as I bought it, we toasted. They said, “We don’t really like champagne.” So, I ended up drinking all three glasses. (Laughs)

Photo: JPI

What do you think of Eric Martsolf (Brady), your Day Players Band member, and DAYS co-star getting a Lead Actor nomination?

WALLY: I remember, I was like talking to him and I was like, “Eric, are you going to submit yourself?” And he is like, “I don’t know. I don’t really have anything …” And the next thing you know, he’s nominated. I’m like, “Wow! I guess he found something!” (Laughs) I love Eric. I have such respect for him and his gift, and he works really hard. So, I was very happy for him. I’m glad we weren’t in the same category, however.

How many years now have you been playing Justin on DAYS?

WALLY: I started here 37 years ago in 1987. I was there for four years and then I left. Then, 18 years later, Ken Corday (EP, DAYS) invited me back in 2009 and I’ve been on the show now for 15 years. So, I guess a total of 20 years on and off over the last 37 years. Everyone remembers 1987-1991 … those were big, big years for Justin and Adrienne who back then were a supercouple.

Photo: JPI

Have you determined who you would thank in your acceptance speech if you win this year’s Supporting Actor Daytime Emmy?

WALLY: I feel like this year I kind of have an idea of what I would say. I think I can remember all of that without writing it down. If I had gotten nominated for both shows, I was definitely going to point out and thank the powers-that-be for giving me dual citizenship and how much I appreciate that. I do think that being on both soaps, I will go to my grave believing that it’s made me a better actor. In fact, since I’ve been doing both shows, I’ve been nominated for Daytime Emmys. I’ve become a better actor. I feel like maybe it’s just that I’ve gotten older and wiser, but I feel as though when I go in there to work, I’m really focused and I’m really prepared. I know I pretty much get one shot to get it. We’re in the business of “one takes” now in the soaps.

People are so lucky to even have one enduring role in their careers, but you’ve been able to have two, and they’re completely separate characters on two legacy shows; one which just turned 61, General Hospital, and the other Days of our Lives which will soon celebrate 60 years, as well.

WALLY: I didn’t plan on it. I must have done something right. Back in 2009, Ken called me up and invited me back to DAYS. I really jumped in. I’d been out of work for four or five years. I went back with a whole new attitude about the work, about the genre.  In 2004, when I left General Hospital, I was kind of burnt out. Looking back on it, I didn’t have a good attitude and I was just done. I was kind of tired. New writers come in and sometimes, when you have new writers that look at your character differently, it can be very difficult, because you just know that their passion is not with your character. However, in this case, I’m like, “I’m going to take whatever the writers give me and do the best I can and do my job. Let the writers do their job.” I think the writers also know that I really respect them and I’m not going to complain. I’m not going to tell them what to do and I’m going to stay out of it. They have enough to work out. They have enough to do. I’m going to be the problem solver, not the problem creator. There are enough problem creators. Believe me when I tell you that every time I leave those sets, I’m like, “Thank you. I love it.  See you the next time I see you.” I know how lucky I am to do both shows and to have this opportunity to act at my age and still be sent scripts. I love the art of acting. I’d do it for free. The fact that they’re paying me and I am able to do this and work with these great, wonderful, talented actors every day, it’s kind of mind-blowing.

So, will you be rooting for Wally to take home the gold in this year’s Outstanding Supporting Actor in Daytime Drama Series at the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards on June 7th live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+? Lisa Rinna Would Be Down to Reprise Her Role of Taylor McBride in ‘Melrose Place’ Reboot

When Lisa Rinna departed her popular role of Billie Reed on Days of our Lives back in 1995, her next major role would be a jump to primetime and the soapy Melrose Place.

In 1996, Lisa was introduced as new character Taylor McBride and stayed with the Fox young adult sudser for three seasons. Now in 2024, with the recent reveal that a Melrose Place revival is the works with Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton all on board to reprise their signature roles, would Rinna board the project should it come to fruition?

Speaking with PEOPLE, Rinna expressed, “Well, gosh, I’ve heard about it. I haven’t been approached or anything, but I would love to see what Taylor McBride is up to 25 years later. Wouldn’t that be something?”

Photo: FOX

OG Melrose Place fans know that in story, Taylor moved to the Melrose Place apartment building with her husband Kyle played by Rob Estes. However, Taylor had her eye on Dr. Peter Burns played by former GH star Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco). But, by the time she had moved to the apartment complex, Peter had married tough as nails ad executive, Amanda Woodward, played by Heather Locklear.

Recalling her time on Melrose Place, Rinna added that it, “was one of my greatest and most fun acting experiences, playing Taylor and working with Heather and the whole crew.”  Rinna also noted, “So if they need a Taylor McBride appearance, they know who to call. I’m around.”

Photo: JPI

The new Melrose Place is in development at CBS Studios. In the premise of the reboot, the Melrose Place residents reunite after the death of one of their friends, “but the pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”

So, would you want to see Lisa Rinna reprise her Melrose Place role as Taylor McBride? Comment below.

Kristian Alfonso Returns to Days of our Lives for Tribute to The Late Bill Hayes

After a few weeks of Days of our Lives fans being upset that Kristian Alfonso (Hope Williams) was not on the first list of initial returns for Doug Williams’ funeral and episodes honoring his portrayer, the late Bill Hayes, comes word that the popular star is back and taping scenes.

Kristian reported to work on the Peacock streaming soap opera on Monday, April 22nd. She shared how important it is for her to be back for this particular return to the show that made her a household name.

“My return is very bittersweet,” Alfonso told TV Insider,  “because it is the end of an era with Bill gone. So to return to Days is very sad. I am appreciative that they came to me to include me in their series of shows honoring Doug and I’m very happy to see everyone, but I’m entering the studio with a heavy heart.”

Photo: JPI

It was back in 1983 that Kristian first debuted as Doug’s daughter, and now 41 years later looking back at it, and her time with Bill Hayes is very emotional for her.

“I remember my first scenes with him/ He was very loving, very welcoming. That he was very talented and an incredible actor and an icon, that all goes without saying, but my personal relationship and my working relationship with Bill, it was home,” expressed Alfonso. “Doing the scenes with Bill, I felt like I was with my dad because there was so much warmth and reality.”

Photo: JPI

Alfonso did express some deep regret, in that she had wanted to work with Bill Hayes during her last appearance on the soap back in 2023, but according to the iconic actress, there was something in the works but it never materialized.  “I’m sad that I did not get the opportunity to do the storyline that Ron (Carlivati, head writer) had planned/ It was great; we returned to Salem to reunite with our families and I would have had father/daughter scenes with Billy. What Ron had written was beautiful and emotional and it was a fantastic story. I was 100 percent for it and the fans would have loved it.”

Photo: JPI

As for if Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope will be back on-screen together anytime soon, Kristian would only say, “What I will say is don’t give up hope.” Doug’s passing and memorial episodes will stream later this year come late November into December.

So, are you happy to learn that Kristian Alfonso is back taping episodes surrounding Doug’s memorial episodes? Comment below.
