43rd Annual Daytime Emmy Pre-Nominations Daytime Drama Acting Categories Announced!

Courtesy/NATAS
And away we go! The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced Wednesday morning the Daytime Drama Performer Pre-Nominations for the upcoming 43rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
As for the voting process used to determine those chosen as Pre-Nominated performers, NATAS expressed: “An online judging ballot containing all entrants in each of four performer categories (Lead Actor and Actress and Supporting Actor and Actress) was sent to all registered, eligible peer judges. The ballot contained a randomized order of performers in each category, regardless of their show affiliation. Judges were required to view clips online containing the work of each performer entry before selecting their top 10 performer choices in each category.” Please note that the entrants for the Younger Actor and Actress categories proceeded directly to the Blue Ribbon Round.
The candidates below who received the highest number of votes now advance to the blue ribbon screening round, scheduled to begin on February 22, 2016, which will determine both nominees and the winner.
Soap fans circle Thursday, March 24th as the day we learn who made it into the final round when they are revealed during a special show/ segment on CBS’ afternoon series, The Talk!
Congratulations to all the Pre-Nominees, and here now are the actors who are still in the Emmy race as we go into round two!

So, what do you think about the acting Pre-Nominations? Whose name are you most happy about seeing on the list? Who do you hope becomes a final nominee? We noticed: Peter Reckell (Bo, DAYS), Karla Mosley (Maya, B&B), Rob Scott Wilson (Ben, DAYS), Freddie Smith (Sonny, DAYS, Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke, B&B), and Jason Thompson (for his role as Patrick, GH) did not make it throug. Do you deem those as glaring omissions? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Nominations: Outstanding Lead Actress Drama Series

Monday on Entertainment Tonight, the second set of nominations for the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced which included the highly-coveted Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series – Actress and Outstanding Daytime Talk Series.
ET followed suit after Extra announced the nominees, as previously reported, in the Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series – Actor and Outstanding Daytime Talk Host.
Now, five leading ladies of the soaps are vying for the gold for Lead Actress and the category marked the first-ever nominations for CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates when two actresses made the final cut. Only General Hospital is not represented among the actresses this year after Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) took home the trophy last year.

Meanwhile, Michelle Stafford had previously won 3 Emmys – 2 for Lead Actress and 1 for Supporting, but this recognition makes it her 11th overall nomination.
Heather Tom currently is tied for the most all-time Daytime Emmy wins with One Life to Live alum and General Hospital guest star, Erika Slezak. The B&B star has 19 nominations throughout her career.

so after all that neither Kelly Monaco nor Rebecca Herbst made the list…ouch!!! sorry Jasam Liason fans
LOL
ouch hurt ????
just add this year to the infamy of it all…. My Rebecca Herbst ; My Liz
fandom comes crashing down
Michael please come on tell us why Sharon Case was dissed for the 2nd to 3rd time? Nobody is more talented
Sharon case is amazing and she doesnt get half the credit she deserves! She has played so many different stories throughout the years and not once did she EVER phone it in!
It’s the horrible writing for her. I’m sorry but they make her so cartoonish.
Sharon Case should of been nominated. I again this year will not watch. I banned it last year and will again BOOOOOO
Becky carried the dam show I am so sick of this rubbing elbows etc that gets a nomination . Stop the freaking madness!!!!
SHARON CASE WE LOVE YOU PLEASE TELL HER 🙂
Oh Please really! Sharon Newman is the best and Sharon Case works her tail off. This is like The Oscars but this time its because Sharon is friends with Michael Muhney still and she was snubbed for a nomination and she is awesome
Billy Miller, Sharon Case , Jaqueline Woods and more GH and YR greats all dissed and the ones who cant act nominated
Janice – I agree about Sharon. I read an interview with Joshua Morrow where he said that he was lucky to work with Sharon since she does most of the heavy lifting.
Billy Miller has won 2 Emmy’s already, so he probably doesn’t care?
Im sick of Sharon Case -Sharon Newman taking so much heat from fans for her stories and NOT nominated. So unfair . Can you write an article praising Sharon Case’s work. She is so loved by many
Now we know why nobody wants to air The Daytime awards. I feel bad for Sharon Case and Billy Miller
Yes I am surprised that Robert (Ben) from days isn’t in this list he did an outstanding job playing a killer, and Peter and Steve (Bo and Steve) did outstanding jobs when Bo died then there are some of the teens I cant believe are in the list that don’t know why they are, these 3 really deserve the recognition for their performances but I guess they aren’t going to get it to bad
I am also very disappointed that Rebecca was overlooked. I don’t get it!!! She can play anything her heart desires; from a bitch to a witch to a most loyal friend; and, be perfect at it.
But, Kelly Monaco did not do anything spectacular to deserve a nom., in my opinion, Michael. Believe me, I try to be as fair as possible. Sam is not one of my favorites, but if she had drawn anything from me, I would have agreed with you….but, I got zilch.
Now, I can’t stand what Ava represents, but that’s a true thespian…from head to toe; comparatively speaking.
Sharon Case wow that was so upsetting she was dissed . Really now Chelsea played by MCE cant hold a candle and Sahe by Kelly S . Y&R Sharon Case is truly the BEST ACTRESS we love her
@Abigail B.
Oh, believe me, I agree. Sharon Case deserves an Emmy and then some!!
This is true, CeeCee….At the very least, RH should have received a supporting actress nomination….that would have made sense given the overcrowded field of GH leading ladies vying for the honor. Of course, I’m all in for Finola to get the Emmy nod…she was simply transcendent in her role of Anna this past year….absolute perfection and a class act all the way! It’s a shame that there aren’t separate awards for special performances outside of one’s regular character, because Laura Wright definitely deserves kudos for her limited appearances as Lena Spencer…she totally stepped into another acting dimension portraying that gentle, maternal soul. It was such a welcome departure from her usual take no prisoners, bold and blunt, Carly. However, I cannot see her being rewarded over Finola for her entire year’s worth of performances….Hughes’ Anna was just so multi-faceted and diverse in her emotions that she has truly earned the title of “best actress” over not just her fellow GH nominees, but all others in her category.
@Shay.
Shay, there are only a handful of actors/actresses whom I hold close to my heart. Of course, Finola is in a league all her own; I certainly pay tribute to her. And, yes, there should be an award for the express reason of paying homage to such ladies and gents as Anna and Scorpio.
It is unfortunate you don’t watch Days, my lovely Shay, because, as charming and uniquely talented Finola is, my heart belongs to Kassie DePaiva. So far, no one has ever come close portraying the tortured heart of a grieving mother. She was so attuned to the deafening silence that had invaded her world. I can’t even imagine from whence she drew that palpable pain. Jess Walton came pretty close, I must say….but, Kassie took it all the way home, and she should take it all the way to winning the Emmy for her avant-garde performance. I have only seen that kind of enactment in movies.
As I said, Rebecca H and Sharon C are not your typical innovative thespians, but they make the storyline credible. It is a pleasure to watch them get out of the ‘norm’; get out of the box, and do the unexpected. No one else did it for me.
I am not impressed with any of the male performers except for Tony Geary, and Faison. Hey, now. Do not laugh…HaHa. I am serious. Anders Hove fascinates me…he is that good-bad.
My disappointment also lies with the writers who have given Michelle Stafford, Roger Howarth and Billy Miller disrespectful scripts and storylines not befitting these esteemed and skilled actors. It seems that they were/are castigated for some reason. To me, they are carrying the heavy cross of insufferable writing.
Holy moly, my Shaybelle….’tis the wee hours of the morn, already. Later.
SHARON CASE WE ALWAYS WILL THINK YOU DESERVED TO BE NOMINATED AND WIN WIN WIN LEAD ACTRESS 🙂
Well, CeeCeeGirl, we all have our favorites! For me, it’s Finola Hughes, for you, Kassie de Paiva….I’ve no doubt she did turn in a standout performance on DOOL given her character’s circumstances, but I’ve simply never been a fan of hers. I find her heavy drawl often detracts from her performances, since there is often no justification in her roles for such an accent, and I must admit, I was less than taken with her brief appearances with Todd on GH. Plus, whenever I see her, all I can think of is crafting, since she hosts that PBS show….LOL. As for Anders, he is a very unique sort….he definitely brings the freaky to Faison in such a fabulous manner, and when he is featured with Dr. O., it’s a perfect storm of the perverse and peculiar….I hope they shall soon be reunited in Port Charles along with their daughter, Britta! Lastly, I do agree with you on Tony Geary….he made Luke/Fluke work no matter the inconsistencies and idiocies of his storyline, and that is what being a true thespian is all about….let him have this final Emmy, he’s earned it, but that doesn’t mean I’m waiting with bated breath for his return to Port Charles….quite the opposite, in fact! Maybe someday, just not yet…it’s too soon.
@Shay.
Oh, ShayGirl, I certainly feel the same way about Geary. I respect and admire him as an actor, but, I definitely do not want him back on the show.i don’t know why but, he makes me feel anxious when he’s around.
Faison and Dr. O are the bomb together. I can’t get enough!!
As far as Kassie, I was strictly talking about her rendition of a grieving mother. I would never compare the two. Also, kassie is, I believe, Kentuckian, where the natives actually say ‘yuns’ instead of ‘you’. I don’t mind the drawl, albeit Kassie should have lost it by now. It’s very hard for some people. I mean, listen to Bernie Sanders ( and I, a New Yorker, cover my ears) ……imagine him as Commander in Chief….speechifying! Soon.
I did not notice Billy Miller for best actor.
Its crazy . No Billy Miller and No Sharon Case and No Jaqueline Woods but they have Melissa Clair Egan who cant act and Kelly Sullivan and dare I say Hunter who plays Summer . ICK
Go figure, right, Danielle. Absolutely nuts!!
I want Sharon Case to stop being dissed
I completely agree Carol!
AMEN Carol-She is an amazing actress who makes really BAD story and writing better than it actually is. The gal who plays Sage gets a nom and she doesn’t?
I dont remember ONE time on GH where Billy Miller blew me away? I like him and it might be a writing issue but his tour on GH has been forgettable!
Yup! And, that hurts, Timmm. What the….
Billy Miller seems barely awake during his scenes and totally bored by his story. No nomination was warranted. The two women in this dreadful triangle are carrying the acting burden, not the male over whom they are inexplicably fighting. It is like two women fighting to the death over a mannequin.
Completely agree. Jake has just been a bump on a log.
completely disagree with your analysis and opinions. period.
Several head scratchers here, like Tracey Bregman as lead actress. She must have been on a different Y&R than I was watching.
I think Linsey should have been in lead actress.
Hmmm…Amelia Heinle didn’t make the prenoms.
Christopher Sean as supporting? I guess he was supporting the background. I guess he was in more story earlier, but now all his character is doing is photo shoots.
Ms. Heinle
I wanted my Amelia to continue her streak…. prove the naysayers “wrong”
in my book ; and with Jason Thompson ; she continually does credible work
I cant believe Sharon Case from Y&R they did it to her again dissed her . Lets face it all the stories some how come back to her. Sage and Chelsea wouldnt be relevant if it wasnt for the start of Sharons stories . Sharon effects the stories ahead also and Ms Case snubbed WHY!!!!!!!!!! She is so sweet both off and on screen
She will be golden with Jason Thompson and both could be winners in 2016!
Sharon Case again was dissed . Something is going on . No top actresses . Like Amelia and Sharon. But the kiss ups like Hunter King and Melissa Egan who we know are rotten to fans and of course the king of nasty Eric Bradon as Victor he is a animal to fans . MCE yells at a fan because she cant admit she has botox . Greg who Greg Rikaart yells at fans also. These actors need to behave I see it got them nominated for being children
NOT A FAN OF THE CHELSEA CHARACTER OR SUMMER ON YOUNG AND RESTLESS THEY PUT ME TO SLEEP AND IRRITATE ME SORRY
What a joke! No prenoms for KA,PR,RSW from DAYS, BH from GH or Maya & Papa Avant from B&B?
Some on the list are downright laughable.
It is nothing but a joke we are all at my house laughing on the floor
So am I!!!! Most of the ones from Y&R were barely onscreen the whole year. I think they just check the same boxes every year.
I completely agree k/kay!! Laughing on the floor -good one!
I don’t see Arianne Zucker anywhere, either. Could it be that they did not enter, at all? A few years ago, when James Scott was still there, people would wonder why he didn’t get nominations. He would say that it was because he didn’t enter the Emmy race (by submitting video clips for consideration).
she should of got pick she was amazing . I have never seen any act better then she did when Daniel died.
She is always on point. The writing sucks for her on a good day, but she brings it. She is the only actress who has made me cry.
I was looking for Arianne Zucker also. I thought may be I missed her. She consistently gives great performances, and can portray a wide range of emotions with depth and realism. She can be funny, sad, warm, human, angry, vulnerable, crazy, caring, tough, etc. – multi-dimensional. I always think she is one of the best, so she should be there.
“NO” Robert Scott Wilson !!! ?
I’m stunned; I’m shocked ; I’m over the top surprised
He carried this show… when everything new was going on with the new production behind the scenes @ DAYS
I agree he should of got pick. I thought he was really great as a crazy person. Who knows why and how they decide who gets pick.
This is nothing but a joke. No wonder they dont get the audience they expect. Hunter King good grief she’s so use to her family telling her how great she is that she thinks she should get an award for showing up. I guess its suppose she thinks we should be happy just to see her although she ruined the Chelsea 2.0 fashion show.
Hunter King was BARELY on…We ALL know JFP made this one happen….
Once again the biggest joke in all of daytime! It is nothing but a who rubs elbows with who contest disgusting.
Or who’s breasts are fondled.
You naughty, naughty man, 4ever. How did this post with the word ‘breasts’ get through the moderators? LOL.
You know, I must be really naive. My mind never looks for reasons why some actors/actresses could be teachers’s pets; …but, in reality, it is probably so true.
There is no rhyme or reason as to why Hunter King is even a character on Y&R, except for a fashion show??, for example. The Marco/Jack silly plot could have still worked without Marissa…..another superfluous character, as is that pair-shaped head of Luca with the tiny, beady eyes. Don’t get me started on Ben…HaHa!!! Byeeeee.
Im not watching. My Sharon Case – Newman dissed. Im so done with these awards . To think they used to be my Oscars. Guess both the Oscars now Daytime Emmys got fools running them …. SAD
If I know Case she probably did not submit I don’t think those things are important to her she deserves an emmy for reading her script and going oh I am getting thrown under the bus again ok. I love her always will I know the character that Bill Bell created and I go with that. Becky Herbst getting snubbed is a tragedy.
Wow, so many fantastic eligible nominees this year. My picks to win are:
Kassie DePaiva, Mary Beth Evans or Kate Mansi for lead actress;
Billy Flynn, Anthony Geary or Justin Hartley for lead actor;
Linsey Godfrey or Kelly Sullivan for supporting actress;
Jacob Young or Dominic Zamprogna for supporting actor;
Ashlyn Pearce or Brooklyn Rae Silzer for younger actress;
Bryan Craig or Casey Moss for younger actor.
I was a little surprised to see Billy Flynn and Kate Mansi submit themselves for lead actor and actress, respectively. I figured they would submit in either the supporting or younger categories. Also, where is Robert Scott Wilson?! He was unbelievably good this past year, and should definitely have submitted himself, he was a shoe-in with his portrayal of Ben. And where was Freddie Smith?!
I was also shocked to not see Karla Mosley! The transgender story of 2015, which could most definitely win B&B best drama, was outstanding and she was fantastic throughout the entire story. I was also stunned to not see Rebecca Herbst, Jason Thompson, Kelly Monaco or Billy Miller! They’ve been the driving forces behind GH’s front-burner story for a long time now.
Some hits, some misses…Finola, Kassie and Mary Beth-YES!…nice if Billy Flynn makes it amongst the predictable-Tony Geary will probably win again-sigh!…Sean Blackmore for GH or Christopher Sean for Days would be nice but would also be up against predictable nominations…i see the superb Camryn Grimes winning for Y&R…nice if Lauren Boles tied but it would be a joke if her replacement made it instead. not much of a choice in the younger male category-probably Max E. for Y&R will be nominated and takes home the trophy.
Jimmy, Tony Geary was great in the Fluke story and deserves the win. The Fluke STORY sucked! Max E. did nothing on Y&R in 2015. Now on “Under the Dome”, he was great!
Tony was great and will win-that’s what makes it predictable…lol
Brooklyn Rae and Nicholas all the way
No Jason Thompson
No Becky Herbst
No Kelly Monaco
No Jane Elliot
No Billy Miller
Total Joke
NO Sharon Case
No Billy Miller
No Jaqueline Woods
BOOOOO TO THE AWARDS
I agree.
Why all the upset over Billy Miller? His story is dreadful and his acting is mediocre. Not his fault. The writers clearly do not know what to do with this character. Another soap site has labeled him the worst recast in years. If the writers ever get a handle on the character, perhaps then Miller can shine.
The upset is from people who have a discerning eye and ear for good acting. Apparently you’re not among those types, Tristan. You’ve said enough negative about Miller now.
jkn, you need to moderate your tone. You have no right to tell me what my opinions can or cannot be; how or how often I may express them. What you may have in “discernment,” you certainly lack in manners.
There are a few pleasant surpises otherwise this list is disgustingly unpredictable and it’s glaringly obvious the voters don’t watch soaps daily.
Agree!!
Congrats to those nominated. But seriously there are some glaring omissions. And I can’t lie, several names that shouldn’t even be allowed on air but are up for awards. I will never understand the Emmy process. Do the people voting and appointing these names watch what we watch? Cause it doesn’t feel like it.
Not happy at all. Im not a fan of Chelsea aka Melissa C Egan and Kelly Sullivan aka Sage and most of all no to Hunter King -Summer. ,,,,,,,,, So many are missing for their nominations that should of been . What happened to Sharon Case and Billy Miller. They are super popular
Kind of a farce . Those horrible kids on Days of our Lives get nominations but no Kristian Alfonso or Robert Scott Wilson. They carried the storyline.
I agree. What the heck???
Those NEW Days kids were barely on in 2015-They were recently introduced-Looks like the Academy needs to retool like Oscars are.
I have to ask (as the rules confuse this layman!)… Do the actors make the first step to put themselves into consideration? If that is the case, it may be some of our favorites opted out of the contest this year and so, their names would not appear on this roster. I do note some absences considering the buzz certain performances and story lines received this year.
I’d like to know the answer as well.
I truly do think… the actors should have no choice… if.. the producers… are doing their job… and watching their show…. should be the one submitting…. who they think…. and if an actor wants to submit… as well.
so this way… their are more actors to choose from… and this at least gives the audience knowledge that all actors on the shows are give fair representation
ugh! argh! blech! meh!
soapbox bemoan
i’m still upset about Robert Scott Wilson; Freddie Smith; Amelia Heinle; Kristian Alfonso
i’m sure their are more
Agreed, Patrick. Lots of names I would expect to see but are not there. You noted several in your post. I am active in local theatre and I just throw my hands up with awards. They never make sense! The joy is in the art of acting and storytelling (writing and technical elements) and we as audiences appreciate more than a roster of a few nominees or trophy recipients. Someone is always robbed. But it sure gets us talking, no?
I think it’s a combined decision btw EP & the actor. For example, @ the 2015 Daytime Emmys (for performances/story arcs that took place in 2014), Donna Mills & Jane Elliott both gave interviews before the award ceremony saying Frank Valentini (EP @ GH) called them & said he was going to submit their work for Daytime Emmy pre-nomination consideration. Mills was in the Guest Star category, and Elliott was Supporting Actress IIRC. He needed their permission to do it. But, it sounded like both actresses would not have entered until their EP prodded them to. On the flip side, I don’t think an actor has a chance of making the pre-nomination list if they don’t have the support of their show. I’ve also read of shows switching their actors to different categories so their top actors don’t cancel one another out. It improves the chances of winning. So, there is definitely show input involved in the nomination process.
Thank you, KansasGuest. Good to know. I bet no matter what the process, people will be upset… if this message board is any indication! 🙂
Jason Thompson should have been nominated for his scenes with Brooklyn Rae S after his break-up with Sam, when Emma screams for her Mom.
Becky Herbst should have been nominated for selling the OOC crap she’s had to play and getting me to buy it.
Thrilled that Finola Hughes is nominated for best actress.
Pained that Tony Geary is nominated for best actor for the Fluke story.
I totally agree, Trudy.
Agree with all of it!! Jason Thompson is wonderful!
The Fluke storyline might have sucked, but Tony Geary was great, especially in the 52nd anniversary show, which I would assume is what he submitted. He deserves the nomination.
Rebecca Herbst & Jason Thompson may have submitted their work. But, it could have been passed over. The pre-nomination list is still a list that has been culled from dozens of submissions. The public isn’t given those details.
I’m surprised to see Tyler was nominated. The only one who I think was robbed on GH was JT. I have the unpopular opinion that Herbst wasn’t “killing’ this story. Though looks like it wasn’t that unpopular of an opinion after all huh? Kemo didn’t have the material this year other than the amazing, amazing Samtrick break up which both she and JT should have been nominated for. Other than that the stories of all involved were a total fail and they didn’t have much material to work with. Herbst being the sole exception, she had the material but the performance was flat and wildly overrated by GH fans, IMO. I have seen people express more emotion when their lost iPhones were returned than she did over her son being alive.
Honestly, I hated how they writed Jake’s return, but considering Liz is horribly written OOC, it didn’t surprise me that the writers didn’t have her focus on Jake. It was a badly written storyl ine for Luke fans. When Jake died it was all about Luke and Lucky, when he returned it certainly wasn’t focused on Liz either and was completely OOC.
Sharon Case sorry we love you. I will boycott for you. They did it to you again. I say give Sharon her own award show
Karla Mosley did some good work this year no nomination even if I can’t stand the storyline she did some good work.
yeah Karla brings it on B&B but I can’t stand the character since they made her transgender.
TOTALLY AGREE!
Love her work, She carried a lot in 2015-SHAME they didn’t see that.
No Karla Mosley absolutely disappointed
Hi I from Polnad. In my country B&B is very popular show. Why KKL (Brooke) dont have pre nom. Its so unfair! I love her and she is very talentet actoriess and she play her part for 28 years. Karla Mosley have relly good in 2015. Its joke (sorry for my english) 🙂
I have been anxiously awaiting today’s list of nominees. This is a great group of actors and congratulations to each of them. This has been a year of so many great performances that I wish the Daytime Emmy Awards would expand the list of nominees in Lead Actor and Actress and to a minimum of seven.
It is strange not to see so many names that most soap fans have been talking about most of the year on the list. I know there are only so many slots, but when one show dominates a category (Lead Actor list – Y&R has five), it really cuts back on actors from other shows. Does Y&R really have that many more good actors than “GH,” “B&B” and “DOOL?” I would have liked to have seen Don Diamont, Stephen Nichols and Peter Reckell in the Lead Actor spot.
DOOL has had some great performances this year. It was a nice surprise to see Mary Beth Evans in Lead Actress. I hope she submitted the scenes with her finding out about Bo’s medical condition.
I am VERY disappointed not to have seen Kristian Alfonso, Karla Mosley and Rebecca Herbst in the Lead Actress category. Those three names (along with Laura Wright) were the performances that had the fans talking most this year.
Other disappointments include not having Freddie Smith, Robert Scott Wilson or Bryan Datillo in the Supporting Actor list. I actually thought RSW would win it. His portrayal of psycho Ben was mesmerizing. It is slightly a slap in the face to see Judi Evans’ (Adrienne) name on the list and not see Bryan (Lucas). Bryan’s scenes in October in the aftermath of Will’s death were fantastic. It is disappointing that Bryan has been MIA since those great scenes.
The Supporting Actress category has a few surprises. I love Melissa Reeves and am glad to see her name on the list. Her scenes with Kassie after finding out that Eve was having an affair with JJ was her best work. In this category, I think Suzanne Rogers, Lauren Koslow or Ari Zucker should have made the cut.
I hate to be critical, but most of the younger actors from DOOL did not appear on the show until October/November. These actors are VERY green and it has not been an interesting ride so far. James Lastovic (Joey) is the most promising. I would love to see young Lauren Boles (ex-Ciera) win Younger Actress.
My (hopeful) predictions:
Best Actor: Laura Wright
Best Actor: Justin Hartley or Billy Flynn
Supporting Actor: Jacob Young or Steve Burton
Supporting Actress: Peggy McCay or Melissa Reeves
Young Actress: Alyvia Alyn Lind
Young Actor: Casey Moss
A few corrections:
My (hopeful) predictions:
Best Actress: Laura Wright or Finola Hughes
Best Actor: Justin Hartley or Billy Flynn
Supporting Actor: Jacob Young or Steve Burton
Supporting Actress: Peggy McCay or Melissa Reeves
Young Actress: Alyvia Alyn Lind or Lauren Boles
Young Actor: Casey Moss
Mary Beth Evans…. Ta-da ! the lady who lights up my telee
Judi Evans … Ta-da ! another lady love….. I will grandstand and bow to the serial heavens
Kayla and Adrienne ! beaming here
ie: I agree totally that it’s a complete diss that Bryan Datillo’ Lucas, is not on this list… he completed Adrienne.
woah ! add in the best of the best: Kassie DePaiva
giddy mode is going
I agree with you about the actors from Days who got snubbed. I was the most shocked by Kristian Alfonso being left off for Lead Actress. I always felt she was an extremely underrated actress. Especially for how long she’s been on the show. I was also very surprised by Robert Scott Wilson’s snub as well. He was so good during the necktie storyline, and deserved a Supporting Actor nomination. Bryan Datilo is like Kristian in regards to being underrated and doesn’t get enough credit from critics or peers I guess. Not surprised by Stephen Nichols and Peter Reckell being left off really. Bo wasn’ back very long at all. I do think both men are underrated just like most of the actors on Days, but it wasn’t enough. I actually would’ve liked to have seen Deidre Hall be put in for Supporting Actress. She was involved in a few key storylines last year and would have some material to choose from. Nobody’s mentioned her, so I thought I might..
he “Y & R” nominations are laughable at best!!
Kelly Sullivan as Sage?!?
Sofia Pernas as Marisa?!?
Two horribly conceived and un-necessary characters played by so-called actresses???
UGH!!!
AMEN TO THAT..
That woman who plays Marisa isn’t even a core character….Again, JFP makes her influence known.
Isn’t that the truth. Marisa & Hunter King YUCK. Why are they even on? There should be an award for the most annoying. Marissa,Summer, & Kyle from Y & R would win for sure.
Well .. this should be then called the Peoples Choice… There are some there should not be on here and def missing some.. I guess.. everyone gets an award mentality is finally reaching the adults who grew up with always getting a trophy.. Not everyone is always a winner and should be nominated.. Not everyone is a good actor… dang…
I can’t believe that Rebecca Herbst and Jane Elliott didn’t make the list. Both of them had great years and some powerhouse moments. It’s interesting that in the Younger Actress and Actor categories there are 2 actors for the same roles from DAYS due to the aging of Ciara and Chase.
Agree!! They are perfection!!
Yeah I hope the original actors of Ciara and Chase make the final nominations and not the new ones.
Jane Elliott has declined for many years to submit her work for Emmy consideration. She made an exception in 2015.
The days kids r nominated? ?? Some have only been on a short time and most have a long way to go(with lots of acting lessons ) to earn even a nomination
Yeah that confused me also, the new teens on Days were only on for a couple of months before the deadline for nominations, crazy since like you said they have a long way to go.
Did not yall not read the article above about all younger actor who submit go straight through to the blue ribbon round.
When is it . When does it come on the tv
Usually April-May
Tell me why on earth does the Academy make children compete with adults in the “Younger” category? Personally they should either make anyone under 16 ineligible to compete or they should give those under 16 a separate category. These poor children gave great performances but don’t stand a chance against their older counterparts. So Academy either give these kids a fair shot or take them out of the running– but this BS of lumping them in with adults is beyond silly.
As for the rest of it—the proof will be in the pudding, meaning the final list of noms will say a lot — the Oscars are trying to figure out how to be fairer and more diverse, perhaps the television end of things needs to take the hint.
THIS LUMPING OF THE GREAT CHILD ACTORS WITH THE ADULTS HAS BEEN GONG ON SINCE I CAN REMEMBER FOR YEARS AND AS STUPID AS IT COMES. SOME OF THE OLDER PEOPLE IN THIS CATEGORY SHOULD NEVER MAKE THE CUT…ITS NOT YOUR ACTING BUT WHO YOU KNOW…..
I disagree. The more categories in an award ceremony, the more ridiculous it becomes, especially if one considers that the number of actors under age 16 on daytime soaps in general is very small. Categories are supposed to represent levels of character importance. If a child actor knocks it out of the park & shows such talent that they steal scenes from the more seasoned, older lead actors, I say give them the Emmy! Sarah Michelle Gellar did it to Susan Lucci when her character Kendall drove ratings upward on AMC for nearly 2 years, and she was only 16-17 years old at the time.
Not every category has to be part of the televised show, so if there was another category specifically for child actors it wouldn’t be ridiculous, just fair.
A sixteen year old Sarah Michelle Gellar may have raisesd ratings but she never had to compete with Susan Lucci in the same category for the same Emmy, while she was under age. The Academy realized those under a certain age, (and it is age, not their character importance, determines who competes in the category) do not have the experienced to compete against older and seasoned actors, which why they have a Younger Category to begin with. So if a sixteen year old doesn’t have to compete with those who are ten or more years older than them for the same Emmy, why does a ten year old child have to compete with a twenty year old for the same Emmy? It makes no sense.
As for there only being a small number children that would be eligible for this new category that doesn’t matter. There are only four soaps left, but they still give out an Outstanding Drama Series Emmy- the limited number doesn’t prevent them giving out the award. In the end we are talking about fairness, and because of their age and the limited type of material a show will write for a child, it should be a separate category or those under 16 should not be allowed to compete at all.
karla mosley missing? i’m really not one to play the homophobia card, but the only thing i can think of is that voters felt uncomfortable with the material. there is no other explanation.
If the voters are comfortable nominatinating the Christopher Sean from DOOL for his story (a gay man (Paul) sleeping with a married gay man (Will) while in love with another gay man (Sonny) , who is the other mans husband), then they should have been comfortable nominating KM for the transgender storyline. Maybe her scenes weren’t as good as the scenes the nominated actresses submitted
Can anyone tell me when it comes on were I can see it
I do not watch daytime tv, so I don’t care ..lol
I watch 2 soaps, at night.
It will be announced here by Michael who won in the soaps, that’s all I need ..
((no need to waste my time watching that stuff 🙂
I personally think Billy Flynn and Kate Mansi are very deserving of lead actor and lead actress. I do however think Kassie Depaiva belongs in the supporting actress category and I am very surprised that Kyler Pettis was snubbed in the Outstanding Younger Actor category. He is doing a phenomenal job playing Theo.
Hi Lora,
Kyler Pettis may have not submitted himself. If so, the voters could have failed to realize Theo is autistic which would have led them to believe the actor and not the character was lost in thought.
I like him too!
Biggest disgrace: no Carla Mosley! Though I am rooting for the amazing Finola Hughes, it is very hard for me to take the Best Actress category at all seriously without Mosley in it. She at least deserved the recognition of a pre-nom. Performance of the year in the storyline of the year!!!!!!!! Another disgrace: no Obba Babbatunde!
I am kind of at a loss on this one. Mosley’s on-screen husband and sister just scored pre-noms and she didn’t, and she was the one who actually drove their story.
Ok, I am very happy about Brooklyn Rae Selzer! Lauralee Bell is rarely on the show. What’s up with that? And, I can’t believe with the all the great actresses on GH no was nominated for supporting actress! Been loving my GH for over 50 years!
AGAIN ITS NOT THE ACTING BUT WHO YOU KNOW!!!!!
She carrys weight because of her last name.
i question some of the nominees. so many people who are more deserving should of gotten pre-noms. what a joke that Karla Mosley didn’t get a pre-nom. I certainly hope that Jill Farren Phelps doesn’t win again
for the love of God

right the wrong… Lauren Boles ( ex-Days; Ciara)
The accolade is so deserving of the most missed character : Ciera Alice Brady
“Outstanding Younger Actress In A Drama Series”
Anyone for Days I’m for I don’t like any other daytime soaps
DAYS has the WEAKEST pre-nominations! Some of the nominees like Kristian Alfonso, Peter Reckell, Ari Zuker and Robert Scott Wilson are missing from the list!
Go Y&R with all those pre-nominations but some of them on the list left me scratching my head! Where is Peter Bergman, Melody Thomas Scott and Mishael Morgan?
B&B…………..where is Scott Clifton and Karla Mosley?
Theres nothing we can do about the list and quite frankly its too long right now so I’ll wait until THE list comes out and comment on the noms.
Big mistake for DAYS’ Billy Flynn and Kate Mansi entering in lead actor/actress!
They should have entered in supporting actor/actress, they would had a better chance!
I’m surprised Robert Scott Wilson didn’t get a supporting actor pre-nomination?!
I have a feeling that this year’s Daytime Emmys would be just another drag! 🙁
I totally agree with what you said.
I’m not surprised that RSW didn’t get a nod. You have to remember who Academy Members are and how much they try to avoid controversy. RSW character was responsible for murdering Will, a legacy character that was gay. If RSW got a nod or in this case a pre nom, that touchy subject will be raise yet again in the press. No one in the Academy will want an Emmy clip of Ben choking the life out of a gay character to be shown on the Emmy show– it is the same reason the actress who played a transgender character didn’t get a pre nom. It is sad but true fact that these awards are not so much about rewarding outstanding work but rewarding work that portrays the image the Academy wants to be associated with.
OK…out of all of the nominees, here are the ones that are impressing me the most…
Ashleigh Brewer, B&B
Darin Brooks, B&B
Sean Carrigan, Y&R
Doug Davidson, Y&R
Kassie DePaiva, DOOL
Reign Edwards, B&B
Melissa Claire Egan, Y&R
Billy Flynn, DOOL
Camryn Grimes, Y&R
Justin Hartley, Y&R
Casey Moss, DOOL
Greg Rikaart, Y&R
Christopher Sean, DOOL
Kristoff St. John, Y&R
Gina Tognoni, Y&R
Jacob Young, B&B
As for the rest of the nominees, well…never mind.
Peace.
I can’t believe that Becky Hearst and Sharon Case were not nominated after carrying these story lines.
see how that works lol
Not 1 for GH , that has excellent actors on your list……
Same with judges it’s whom they personally like, what floats their boat as being good..
Now, can’t blame favorites were not chosen, everyone’s personal favorites are not chosen by fans either..
Tony/Luke will bring home his 9th emmy as best male actor/ black & white episode.
I see Laura/Carly bringing one home, too
Also, Bryan Craig/Morgan ..
and Bernice Benard/Sonny..
Not every fan will be happy, that is for sure,
Tony will likely win if that episode is submitted-NOTHING the other men will put in will compare to it. Sorry but it wont.
Very nice list, jaybird369! I wish you were one of the judges!
Thanks, bro!!!!! Oh, how I W-I-S-H that both you and I were two of the judges!!!!! Yep.
Peace, Brother.
I would think Linsey Goffery would be in the leading lady category!!
Thought Daniel Cosgrove, Kristian Alfonso and Robert Scott Wilson would get a guernsey for sure. All three knocked it out of the park last year. I hope that they chose not to participate rather than being overlooked.
I agree with you, they all got snubbed along with Peter Reckell.
Other than a few cursory GH and B&B nominees, I thought this was the pre nom list for Y&R and Days! So many shockers!! So many talented people left out, most of which have all been mentioned above!
Just please tell me Trainwreck Tyra is not hosting this thing again this year! Last year was just an extended infomercial for her show which crashed and burned. The name of it I can’t even recall, LOL!
Lauralee Bell??? Was she even on 5 episodes this year??? Why would she nominate herself when you have actresses who are on contract and on their shows every week. Sorry Cricket, your boat sailed a long time ago.
She was on a lot when Christine was pregnant and then lost the baby. She was also on a lot when Dylan was discovered to be Paul’s son. But I agree with you.
No kidding!
I MUST SAY AGAIN…..IT IS NOT THE ACTING BUT A POPULARITY CONTEST AND WHO YOU KNOW!!
Her last name is Bell need we say more?
The fact that Jason Thompson is not on this list and Tequan Richmond is (is he ever on the show?) makes it a farce for me. Same old names.
Good point.
Agreed, Helena. It’s all about politics, yes? Especially after the Oscars ‘boycott’. If Tequan has any talent, it is not in acting, in my opinion.
@Vicki.
Tony Geary is not one of my faves. But, that’s neither here nor here. The fact is that regardless of what I, or others think of him and the character(s) he played, he is the most polarizing thespian in the world of soaps. My instincts always tried to shy away from Fluke, but Luke the private battle. Tony Geary did that….he turned me around with his stellar performance. His transformations on the set, from Luke to Fluke, from loving father to predator just sent me….he did that in a New York minute….at will; albeit, he repulsed me to no end! The actor fulfilled every concept; every aspect of what makes an exceptional performer; more than any other actor of Daytime.
So, I agree with you. Tony deserves the Emmy and then, some. Personal feelings should not interfere with admitting or choosing the best.
Pre-nominations are silly. Why not wait until the list of nominees for the Daytime Emmy’s and then everyone can get in a lather over that? This is just a bloated list of MOST of daytime. Why not nominate everyone then?
Pre/Nominations is a looooot of unnecessary dribble.
Nominate, vote and win.
There is so much right and wrong with these prenoms that I feel overwhelmed!
It’s great to see Lauren Boles nominated, I hope she gets in and wins! Her replacement and the other new teen set actors should not be included, especially since they were brand new when the time ended! Glad the actors playing Paul and JJ are nominted though, they deserve it.
I’m glad to see Kassie DePavia, Kate Mansi and Billy Flynn nominated but I think all three should be in the supporting actor categories. And how the hell was Robert Scott Wilson not in the pre noms???? He definitely deserved it!!! And no Ari Zucker either?
And for Y&R why is Lauren in best actress? she’s not on much latey she would be best in supporting. And I’m glad to see Gina Tognoni nominated, she should win for sure!
Kassie was supporting this year but Billy Flynn and Kate Mando would both leads no doubt. I watch the show everday. They were most episodes from this past year and lead story.
I am completely floored…Gina Tognoni made it and Sharon Case did not? Tequan Richmond made it and Rob Scott Wilson did not? Odd and WOW!! Something is rotten in the state of Soapland.
heeeeey Ceecee,,
She probably didn’t get one because;
Brady Bunch- TV Series 1969–1974
Sharon still has the same hairstyle as Marcia ..ahaaa!
very very dated… she tries to look like she’s still 20 LOL
(who tries to looks like Marcia Brady when they’re pushing 50..
really, it is a hinderance, way I see it.. she is being judged in a role of an older woman and they see Marcia… ahaa!
Hi Su000, she’s only 44 years old and Beautiful….
I will agree with you, on her hair it’s out there. LOL
You make my day, Suzie Q.
I get what you’re saying…it is funny. ( M A R C I A; M A R C I A; M A R C I A) HaHa!! However, on a more serious note, I doubt it has anything to do with hairstyle, but, rather , one’s acting skill. After what Sharon has endured ( for years-on-end) …..up and down; thrown around; bouncing off the walls……insane, sane, loving, evil….my gosh, this character has done it all. She is sooo ‘durable’. Lol. I’d say she deserves a modicum of recognition, no? Later, babes.
I wont be tuning in again this year. Sharon Case should be up there instead it’s the butt kissers and the bosses favorites. Like Hunter King again? For what being the most annoying or the least liked by the fans?
hi Nikki..
perhaps Sharon didn’t submit a clip?
Hi Suoooo You could be right. She may be fed-up with being overlooked and treated like dirt for so long as well but I get so annoyed seeing idiots throwing their name in the hat for nothing like Hunter King who figures showing up for work is a good reason to win. I haven’t watched it since the 2.0 show. What a mess that was only Lily & Abby knew how to model. Marissa looked like a deer caught in headlights and bummer was the last straw. The first Chelsea showing was great (with Chloe) Why didn’t get people like Lauren/Sharon/Mariah along with Lily & Abby. As I said you can see the bosses & their butt kissers behind it all.
Right, Nikki. I can’t think of one thing about this girl (Hunter) that I can laud or that wowed me. All she did was sit in the restaurant, eat and have stupid conversations with the other likewise annoying person, Kyle, what’s his name. I can’t even see where Summer fits….she has no visible relationship with either Nick or Phyllis( who , until now, all she did was hang on Jack’s arm)…..weird people. Some parents!! Golly, Mr. Bossman needs to put some parental instincts/love in the equation.
And Jill has yet to see her son…..holy moly, she’s Billy’s mother…..her butt ought to be glued to that bedside chair!!!!!
Your right CeeCee for all the tears in the hospital where is the talent gone now? Bring back Jill & while your at it didn’t Traci say she’d never forgiver herself for being an absent sister? Bring her back we want the talent and enough with the boring fill-ins like Marissa/Bummer & Bile.
Stop the Press!! Daytime Emmys are racist against General Hospital. How rude! Lol
They got more than B&B. And in the past Days could have played that card 28th justification.
With justification. Days was shut out .
You have Got to be kidding me- those two talentless idiots- otherwise known as New Ciara and Bew Chase?? Who was on the talent judging committee-Guy Wilson and his acting coach?? Listening to Vivian is like listening to nails on a chalkboard. She is the worst ‘actress! I’ve ever seen. Ever.
You are so right about these young actors on DAYS. They’re awful, especially the girl playing Ciara, who HAS to know someone at NBC. She’s worthless.
I’m in your corner, Michael.
