49th Annual Daytime Emmy Award Nominations to be Revealed on ‘The Talk’

Will we see Emmy reels this year?
The one performer who I MOST want to see on the nominee’s list for her work in 2021 is Kirsten Storms as Maxie on General Hospital. I will be really disappointed if her name is missing (unless she didn’t submit for recognition, of course). I don’t know if she would be in lead or supporting, a case could be made for either category. Her work during the Peter August/baby switch storyline, especially the scene where she finally told Peter (“Henrik”) what she really thinks of him after the birth of her baby when they meet at the hospital was simply… Read more »
I’ll just stick to who should be the nominees from GH (based on performance in calendar year 2021)
Younger Performer (gender neutral category):
Nicholas Chavez (Spencer)
Sydney Mikayla (ex-Trina)
Guest Performer (gender neutral):
Lydia Look (Selina)
Robert Gossett (Marshall)
Supporting Actor:
James Patrick Stuart (Valentin)
Kin Shriner (Scott)
Wally Kurth (Ned)
Supporting Actress:
Amanda Setton (Brook Lynn)
Kelly Thiebaud (Britt)
Brook Kerr (Portia)
Lead Actor:
Maurice Benard (Sonny – think it’s mandatory)
Who else fits here? Jon Lindstrom (Kevin/Ryan) had an off year, Michael Easton, Roger Howarth and Dominic Zamprogna didn’t do much. Steve Burton could sneak in.
Lead Actress:
Kirsten Storms (Maxie – not supporting)
Finola Hughes (Anna)
Cynthia Watros (Nina)
An off year for Genie and Maura
Michael Easton and Josh Swickard deserve nominations for Chase’s paternity/Chase’s poisoning and then for Easton the “killing” of Peter and for Chase the being paralyzed and dealing with Willow and Michael while she was married to Chase.
Genie Francis did wonderful work in the Cyrus Renault storyline. Lisa LoCicero did Emmy worthy work all year with both the Alexis and Leo stories.
I agree with Josh Swickard. Maybe it’s just the character, but Finn always seems to have the same emotion. That said, I could see a nomination, but I think lead actor is the one category where GH gets only one nomination.
The Cyrus reveal wrapped up at the end of 2020, which is before the nomination period. Otherwise, Genie took a 5 month break (well earned).
LiLo did some good work indeed.
Next years awards are going to be tough for GH. Kinda hard for any of your contract players to get nominated when all the key parts of their storylines were played by temp hires.
That’s funny because I wanted to put Lindsay Hartley in the guest performer category. She made me pay attention to Sam for the first time in years.
I always look forward to hearing the nominees, but not enough to hear it on this awful show. I will wait to see it from Michael Fairman!!!
Deidre Hall hasn’t been an Emmy nominee since the 80’s. She certainly deserves one this year. Kimberlin Brown was nominated one in the 90’s. Let’s give these vets the recognition they deserve.
