Steve Burton Announces Separation From His Wife, Sheree
Daytime favorite, Steve Burton, who will be seen in July on the Peacock streaming series, Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem, and his best-known for his long-running role as Jason Morgan on General Hospital, took to his Instagram story to share some very personal news.
Burton, who has been married to wife Sheree Gustin since 1999, and with whom he shares three children: daughters Makena and Brooklyn and son Jack, have officially separated.
The announcement came when Steve expressed: “I wanted to clear something up. Sheree and I are separated. She recently announced that she is expecting her 4th child. The child is not mine. We are still co-parenting our three beautiful kids. We would appreciate privacy at this time. Much luv, Steve.”
Look for Burton to take on his original DAYS role of Harris Michaels when you see him on the Peacock streamer this summer.

Oh my this explains a lot he has looked stressed for a while! People we should learn something from this we never know what is going on in peoples lives so we should all reserve judgement on one another.

Nancy should mind her tongue while “beloved” Steve has no problem shaming his wife and the unborn child? He basically branded the kid as a bastard to the world, and then has the gall to ask for privacy at this time. Why not just keep his mouth shut and split without dragging all this drama out in public.
Of course—I will not disagree with you, per se. Nonetheless, “things” are always exaggerated. I find it hard to believe Steve would demean himself and air his dirty laundry, nor his ex’s.
Yes, one gets the impression that Steve is an oxymoron personified. I just do not buy it. But, what I find hitting below the belt and out of line is bringing politics into every facet of life. I am sick of it. Talk about the subject at hand without subtle insults against someone else’s ideals and philosophy. I feel sorry for everyone involved but I don’t see the reason to advertise it on a site like this except for the shock value and Steve feeling so hurt and betrayed that he felt he needed his “publics” sympathy. Sorry, but he isn’t getting any from me. I’ve lived way too long to know it isn’t just one person’s fault and the only innocent one is the baby and the other kids who one day may read this article. He didn’t advertise it first, but when She did, he felt a responsibility to tell his fans the truth. Steve is a kind, generous and loving person. I don’t think he was prepared for how she announced she’s pregnant. I believe if she didn’t anounce it we wouldn’t know anything. Her Instagram regarding this was taken down immediately.
I think he just wanted a way of letting people know he is not expecting a baby. Duh!
Lighten up Violet – He probably wanted to put it all out there before people started assuming his pregnant wife’s baby was his. Remember, if his kids read this article one day, they may also read your judgmental comments too.
He probably made the announcement to avoid people crapping all over him for abandoning his wife who is pregnant with what would’ve otherwise been assumed to be his baby.
That would be my assumption, too, Julie. Otherwise I might very well agree with Violet. But given the context, I guess he had to say something, and since he did so without casting any real stones and generally wording it in a way that took the high road, I’m going to give him real credit (and I have not been his biggest fan in the last few years). What he is going through must be incredibly difficult, and he does have their three kids to think about.

Steve kept quiet until his wife posted a picture, holding her belly & announcing that she was pregnant. He kept getting flooded with congratulations. She could have held off making an announcement, at least until they were divorced.
So sorry if I offended so many of Steve’s loving fans. I have hunted and hunted for the comments made by Steve’s wife announcing the birth of her fourth child which I didnt see or knew anything about. I can’t find a thing anywhere and my comments were based on what Steve had to say, which I stand behind. There are two sides to every story and I thought he was just throwing his wife under the bus, without a word from her.

Sorry, my excuse is just being old and not knowing or remembering things, such as having sex or how babies are born, etc. So please forgive my obvious ignorance. Also, sorry for “going after Steve”, I really wasn’t aware how most of his fans seem to know him and his personal life and how dare his wife cheat on him for any reason! I have only known him from the media, he’s an actor, not a personal friend and wouldn’t make any judgements for or against him, you silly twit!!
You have nothing to be sorry for, Violet. Jason fans are a bit rabid demonstrating the kind of enthusiasm one usually sees with the MAGA crowd.

So when she posted an insta with her hands on her belly people were bashing him for separating from his pregnant wife. She never should have put that out there. I finally found out the original announcement made by Steve’s wife was done on Instagram, which I don’t use, and only saw Steve’s message here. I didn’t know, nor do I care about the star’s personal lives. While most fans were sending Steve their love and sympathies, I just felt that heaping all the guilt on his wife was less than chivalrous and promoting more gossip and blame. This news would have come out eventually,but he just pulled that trigger, so eager to tell everyone he was the innocent one.
For those of you who think this is a work, you must not follow soaps and its talent that closely. Soap stars are very open and often share personal events in their life. Good or bad, they are forward. They appreciate us who continue to follow them and watch their shows. Prays for you Steve and his three children!
She is a fitness instructor and she posts her workouts often on insta. She wanted to address her changing body and has a smaller following than he does. He is the one that attracted media attention by addressing it. He did it in such a vague way, he made it seem as though she cheated. We still do not know why they separated, and frankly, we are not in any place to judge.
Best advice, Over it—It’s so easy to judge until it happens to us or someone close to us. No one is privy to another’s life and issues.
Aside—I wonder if this newest character/employee of Sonny’s will turn out to be Jason’s long, lost child no one knew existed.

My only social media is MF. That’s enough for me. But I guess when you’re in the public eye for whatever reason you feel it’s an obligation to fans or a need for yourself to let it all hang out. So I can see why Steve then wanted to clear the air. My advise is to forget it. And personally I don’t want to know too much about some actors…it can interfere with the roles they play for me. Like Johnny Depp. But after reading this story I do wonder why didn’t Steve’s wife, who I know nothing about, and paramour not use birth control?

Why didn’ she use birth control? Good question. You’d think a adult woman would know better. Well, Steve’s “wife” is 47—-probably menopausal—many woman are under the false impression that they are “immune” to pregnancy, considering their monthlies are not regular—few and far between. It happens all the time. Menopausal women are still fertile—it only takes one “errant” egg (LOL) to drop at any time unbeknownst to them—a most vulnerable time. I bet that’s exactly what happened, rose.
PS–Please note that my words were meant, by any means, to put women down in any way, shape or form. It is simply a common misconception for women to fall prey into believing we cannot conceive a baby during menopause. I apologize if I sounded arrogant. Not my intention.

53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Nominations Announced: ‘The Young and the Restless’ Tops With 18, ‘Beyond the Gates’ With 15
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today announced the full list of nominees for the upcoming 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, and it was CBS daytime’s The Young and the Restless and broadcast television newest soap opera, Beyond the Gates that racked up the most nominations with 18 and 15, respectively.
General Hospital was next with 13 overall nominations, followed by Days of our Lives with 8 and The Bold and the Beautiful with 7 nods. The full reveal on Tuesday, follows the announcement of several major categories including Lead Actor and Actress on Monday via Extra and Entertainment Tonight and The View today revealing Daytime Drama Series and more.
The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmys ceremony are set to take place on Friday, October 30 at the historic Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, California. The ceremony is currently planned to stream via watch.theemmys.tv and its associated apps. For the second year in a row, both the main Emmys and the Creative Arts will be presented together in one night.

The Daytime Emmy Awards have recognized outstanding achievement in television programming and crafts since 1974, honoring work in a variety of genres, including daytime dramas, talk series, entertainment news, culinary, adventure, instructional and legal/courtroom programming. This year’s Lifetime Achievement Honoree, Gold & Silver Circle Inductees, and ceremony host will be announced at a later date.

Monday on Entertainment Tonight, the second set of nominations for the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced which included the highly-coveted Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series – Actress and Outstanding Daytime Talk Series.
ET followed suit after Extra announced the nominees, as previously reported, in the Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series – Actor and Outstanding Daytime Talk Host.
Now, five leading ladies of the soaps are vying for the gold for Lead Actress and the category marked the first-ever nominations for CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates when two actresses made the final cut. Only General Hospital is not represented among the actresses this year after Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) took home the trophy last year.

THE FIVE LEADING LADIES OF THE SOAPS ARE …
The 2026 Lead Actress nominees are: Stacy Haiduk (Kristen DiMera), Days of Our Lives, Karla Mosley (Dani Dupree), Beyond the Gates, Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers), The Young and the Restless, Heather Tom (Katie Logan), The Bold and the Beautiful, and Tamara Tunie (Anita Dupree), Beyond the Gates.
This marks the first Daytime Emmy nominations for Karla Mosley and Tamara Tunie. In addition, this marks the first-time in her career that Stacy Haiduk had received a Lead Actress nod after two Supporting Actress nominations.
Meanwhile, Michelle Stafford had previously won 3 Emmys – 2 for Lead Actress and 1 for Supporting, but this recognition makes it her 11th overall nomination.
Heather Tom currently is tied for the most all-time Daytime Emmy wins with One Life to Live alum and General Hospital guest star, Erika Slezak. The B&B star has 19 nominations throughout her career.

In the Outstanding Daytime Talk Series category, the nominees are: 3rd Hour of Today, The Drew Barrymore Show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Live with Kelly and Mark, Today with Jenna and Friends and The View.
“We’re proud to honor the extraordinary talent and creative teams whose work continues to define and elevate daytime television,” NATAS president and CEO Adam Sharp said in a statement on the nominations. “As the Daytime landscape evolves and new forms of storytelling emerge, we remain committed to recognizing the innovation happening across the industry.”
The rest of the nominations will be revealed tomorrow on Tuesday July 14 starting on The View and then the full list of nominees in both the main and creative arts will be released by NATAS. The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards are slated for October 30th in Hollywood, California.

Monday afternoon, Extra kicked-off the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy nominations with the reveal of two major categories. First, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and second, Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host.
Previous Emmy winners all, the men who will be vying for daytime’s most coveted prize are: Eric Braeden (Victor Newman), The Young and the Restless, Steve Burton (Jason Morgan), General Hospital, Scott Clifton (Liam Spencer), The Bold and the Beautiful, Thorsten Kaye (Ridge Forrester), The Bold and the Beautiful, and Christian Jules Le Blanc (Michael Baldwin), The Young and the Restless.
Let’s take a look at the actors Emmy resumes: Eric Braeden has been nominated nine times for Lead Actor and won once in 1998. Steve Burton is a two-time Daytime Emmy winner, both in the Outstanding Supporting Actor category for GH as Jason Morgan and Y&R as Dylan McAvoy. Today’s nomination makes it his 10th overall, and his third time in the the Lead Actor category.

Scott Clifton has won three times previously in 2011, 2013 and 2017 and has the distinction of being the only actor to win in Younger Actor, Supporting and Lead. This is his 8th nomination.
Thorsten Kaye is a two-time Lead Actor winner in 2023 and 2024. Christian LeBlanc has also won three times as Lead Actor in 2005, 2007 and 2009 and this is his first nod in over a decade.

TALK SHOW HOSTS
In the Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host, the nominees are: Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and Ana Navarro, The View, Kelly Clarkson, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Tamron Hall, Tamron Hall, Jennifer Hudson, The Jennifer Hudson Show, and Sherri Shepherd, Sherri.
Both The Kelly Clarkson Show and Sherri have come to their conclusions as Sherri was canceled after 4 seasons and Kelly Clarkson decided to end her talk show after 7 seasons.
The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards are set to be handed out in a ceremony on October 30 in Hollywood with more details forthcoming. The complete list of 2026 Daytime Emmy nominations will be revealed tomorrow on July 14 beginning at 12pm ET/9am PT via The Emmys.TV social channels and website.
