So, what did you think of the winners of the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards? Share your reactions via the comment section below.
WTH! Michelle Stafford won Lead Actress … ??? Unbelievable! I was positive that this was Cynthia or Fiona’s year. Tamara Braun for me was the underdog, I would have been happier for her than Michelle winning. A lot of the lead and supporting categories were mixed bags, in my opinion.
Wish Maura West was submitted for Supporting Actress.
Exactly Stafford didn’t deserve it all, she’s boring as hell, Cynthia and Fiona were robbed
Sad, every this show gets worse, it should be canceled.
Michelle has made the choice to be in your face acting I got tired of watching it and quit she use to be a totally different actress . Obviously some voters like that style their choice .
I agree Stafford played Nina on GH but Cynthia has really done an excellent job making Nina such a great actor & making GH better with Nina she deserves the award
I was stunned that GH won for the 4th consecutive year, and not only that but swept Writing and Directing, as well, in what was, I think it’s fair to say, an overall down year for the show in 2023. I figured the voters would go in another direction this year. But it’s all about the episodes that each show chooses to submit, and Frank and company have become experts at submitting shows that get the votes. From the clips they were showing, it appeared they chose Epiphany’s memorial service.
Was rooting for Finola to take home Lead Actress, disappointed she didn’t win. Honestly thought this was her year with the material she had. The lack of wins for GH women in that category year after year is baffling. Maura in 2015, Laura W in 2011, Finola in 1991, and that’s it for the entire run of the show.
Congrats to Robert Gossett, once again. Dick Van Dyke winning was a wonderful moment, regardless of what show you’re a fan of. God bless him for still being so mentally sharp at 98 years old.
This show gets worse each year. How in the world John McCook did not win is beyond me. I don’t think Thorston Kaye did anything worth winning last year and Michelle Stafford really? I think it’s a clicky business. Seems like the same people win over and over.
Exactly, I agree with you 100% They cannot even give one to Eric Braeden who so so deserved it.
Yea, really? Would have killed them to give him one last award?
I agree. I think John McCoowk should have won also, I don’t think the others did anything worthwhile. I would have preferred Sean Kanan/Deacon, even Tanner Novlan/ Finn for just putting up with his bitch of a wife.
Mixed feelings: on the plus side GH winning hte trifecta was great. It has now won 17 times for Drama Series – it has won 50% in the category, 17 for 34. It has won a historic 4th time in a row. It had been 15 years since it had won for Writing and I was especially happy that Chris and Dan won an Emmy for their time with the show. 5 years in a row for Directing.
I didn’t see Dick Van Dyke’s performances on Days but I love him and was happy for him.
I felt that Michelle Stafford was inevitable with her reel but I really really really wanted cynthia Watros to win (her reel was too short imo).
I knew that Courtney HOpe would win with her excellent reel.
My two least favorite wins were the repeat wins from last year: Thorsten Kaye and Robert Gossett. Kaye’s gravelly voice irritates me and I don’t find him to a particularly strong actor – I thought John McCook would win. But I was especially angry by Robert Gossett’s win – why? He adds nothing to the show, is dull, I often just skip his scenes they are so boring. I can’t believe he has two Emmys. I wanted Mike Manning to win for his extraordinary work on The Bay but I guess they still won’t give an of the shows other than the four network (used to be network in the case of Days) shows. Robert Gossett shouldn’t even have been nominated – I hope they are done with him and will move on to better choices now.
I predicted 6 of 8 correct this year, which is much higher than usual for me. I didn’t get my two moments I most wanted: Cynthia and Mike. Disappointed.
I so agree with the Robert Gossett award and it isn’t just him, the whole damn family is boring as hell and they’ve drawn poor Curtis in to it as well. I used to find him sexy, attractive and interesting with his other female friendships, Laura, etc. Sorry, I got on a tangent!
Really an embarrassing watch the hosts were once again horrible This constant repeat of gh winning takes every bit of interest out of it. The supporting actor repeat as well as best actor repeat were both a joke the opening number was cringeworthy The talk really sealed there fate after that wow I guess i didn’t like it I do want to as do all soap fans but every year it is a head scratcher congrats to dick van dyke and Courtney hope and love the controversial moment that stafford won over the gh crew because the gh fans expect 64 wins every year and now they will complain it’s been 100 years since a gh actress won Remember the greatest soap actress ever Beverly McKinsey from another world and Guilding light never won so that tells you a great deal
Richard: Bravo to you for your comments!
I find myself in agreement with your every point!
Cheers!
Exactly 100% Every year I keep saying this whole show is rigid
Stafford? Really? If that clip was from her reel, how was she even nominated?
Gossett? again? In a year when Wally was prominently featured on both shows, it really should’ve went to him.
Frank must not like speaking in public. Using the phone as a reminder is okay, but maybe show some excitement. When Kelly Clarkson mentions your show twice in her speech, capitalize on it!
An unnominated Maura West sitting at the GH table should put an end to the rumors she’s leaving the show. Her reaction when Cameron unbuttoned his shirt was priceless.
The only thing that saved the Emmy telecast was Dick Van Dyke. They choose the ET hosts for the added publicity, but they should stick to their syndicated show. Lots of filler.
100% so true
I agree with your MAURA WEST reaction to Cameron unbuttoning his shirt , her best performance of the year!
Yay Michelle Stafford love you! The rest I could care less!
COULDN’T care less is what you mean. If you could care less, that means you care at least a little.
I’m getting the popcorn ready for the comments.
Finola Hughes was robbed again, she should have won this year, Stafford was boring and didn’t deserve it at all. What a waste!
Michelle winning was a huge surprise. I remember those scenes she had with Susan Walters (Diane) were IMO were her just chewing scenery. And the mention of crying in Josh Griffiths office is very controversial. Thorsten winning…I’m okay with that. I would’ve preferred that Scott Clifton (Liam) had won. Those scenes in the cabin with Annika Noelle (Hope)were so well done. But back to Thorsten, he did really good work toward the end of last year when Ridge was in Eric’s hospital room. So, so happy for Courtney Hope (Sally) on #YR for her heartbreaking performance when she learns of Ava not making it. She was definitely the favorite to win last night. Absolutely thrilled for Dick Van Dyke. So well deserved.
Still not happy with the Academy’s controversial decision to get rid of the Younger category.
Lastly, I am tired of GH winning every goddamn year. It’s getting old & I feel like folks at GH have probably made behind the scenes by buying votes to win in certain categories. Sorry, but I hate GH. What’s even worse is that EP Frank Valentini refuses to do the post win media blitz. Apparently this isn’t the 1st time he’s done this.
Michelle Stafford just lost her father and maybe that’s why she was crying in his office. Frank Valentini doesn’t have to pander to people, which is why he works behind the scenes. It’s amazing how people get so worked up over an awards show.
At the end of her acceptance speech, wonder who she was referring to as she reverently looked upwards and said ” thank you Joe”.
Oh Michelle, I’m so sorry for your loss, there are no words I could say that would help, other than I know what you must be going through and I understand your grief. I’m praying for you and your family.
I totally agree with you and honestly these repeated wins for gh cause the dislike for the show in general no pun intended share the wealth and will the gh fans stop with the non win for actress and speaking against the other nominees who most of you honestly don’t watch
Grow up and quit whining. These awards are peer voted, and they are what they are. I don’t watch Y&R, so I don’t know what Michelle submitted, I do wish Finola had won.
If I were you, or any other of the whiners on this site, I’d just be damn glad we still HAVE soaps to watch!! In the Daytime (and Nighttime Emmys) your opinion doesn’t count.
The people bitching and whining about GH winning ever year, talking about them “buying votes” and how everything is “rigged” are sounding like a certain 34 time convicted felon former President.
GH wins so often because they know how to pick episodes to submit that are going to get the Emmy votes. And you can do that when the shows have to submit two episodes out of the 250+ that they produce every year. That’s the way the voting works. You can call it “Emmy bat”, you call it whatever you want. If the other shows want to win, pick better episodes to submit, simple as that.
Agreed 100%
If it was bold or days winning you’d be singing a different tune!not saying it’s rigged it’s annoying when others deserve the kudos as well
Do you know which episodes GH submitted?
And thanks for the explanation.
From what I understand, they submitted the Epiphany funeral episode, and the final episode of the Greenland story arc when Victor was trying to release the virus, Valentin got injected with the virus and hallucinated seeing Helena, Laura, Holly and everybody stopped Victor, and Victor got killed (allegedly) when the WSB blew up the Haunted Star.

Love Days
Would have loved to see Findlay Hughes or brook from bold and the beautiful have won
I am so disappointed. Any of the ladies on General Hospital should have won. The guys too!!! How can General Hospital win
best drama but the ones that made the show the best drama series awesome.didn’t win nothing… don’t make no sense. Congrats Robert..
I’m so happy for Dick Van Dyke winning his Emmy, I had a feeling he would win, of course he deserves all his flowers, you just can’t compete with a national treasure like him.
I don’t think he completed with anyone. He won for Outstanding Guest Performer.
