Courtesy/ABC

On Monday to kick-0ff 2019, General Hospital refreshed their opening title sequence with quick images of many of the cast/key characters on the series.

Make sure to check it out and see which characters made it into this version of the new opening.

Over the years, GH has changed up their opening from their signature ambulance,  to Dave Koz “Faces of the Heart” among others.

Watch it below and let us know what you thought of it in the comment section.

Well, it’s fast…..

No!

Dizzy! A little to quick for my liking.

No I don’t like it

I still miss the opening with Dave Koz’s “Faces Of The Heart”.

I love that theme

Those were the days, right? 🙂

I really missw this theme song and think the new opening is very boring. There’s no creativity. I even miss the ambulance !

I like it, but I think they should change the first face (which you can recognize more easily) on a daily basis.

Good idea!

they have if you notice, Mo was first, yesterday was Laura. Today may be different. But I still do not like it.

Laura (as in Wright) was first and there were different characters – both contract and recurring. The one above doesn’t show Becky/Elizabeth but Tuesday’s does. Wally/Ned is also on Tuesday but not above. It’s quick but at least it does show more actors/characters. To those who miss the longer intro – I do too – but they’re gone. ABC would rather have another commercial. And if that extra commercial helps keep GH on the air, we should thank them instead of complain about the opening.

I’d prefer they shorten a scene to make time for a longer opening. They can keep the extra commercial.

You’d rather “shorten a scene” for an introduction? What would be the point in that? I could care less what the opening is (although I like this one). I’m watching for the story, not the opening or the credits.

THe longer opening in the 90’s for example, always got me pumped up and more excited to watch the show. So yeah, I’d love if they’d shorten one scene to make more room for a longer theme.

Makes no sense to me but to each his own.

It goes way to fast to see everyone….so far, whose on there is fine but get these long storylines done and move on..I have already written the next 2 months if you want any help….just wait I will let you know how right I was…

I love that! I’d love to see what you wrote are you a member on general hospital uncensored? We sometimes have people wrote in their ideas!

I’m just waiting to see if my ideas work, then I will write in….im just a tv soap watcher and i actuslly know whats going to happen next b4 it happens, thatshow how predictable this show is…….get on with the old repeated stories and get some new ideas…please dont take Joss’s sick boyfriend off the show…if he wants to leave as a soap person, then just replace him and heal him..some One deserves to be happy ……….

One of the worst title sequences I’ve ever seen in daytime AND primetime! It cheapens the show and the cast members. It’s as if the network or those in power at the show don’t even care about the show or the cast.

ABSOLUTELY. HORRIBLE!!

Michael, don’t hold back, tell us how you really feel. PS. I agree.

Hey, Harry! Long time…

I love the new opening. And, I think CNN just did something similar. Or, at least that’s what I think I saw recently…

100% agree.
I understand soaps have been hurting in terms of budget cuts for about 10 years now. But still, they can do better.

That is so ugly and cheap looking. Why did they even bother to change it

I agree with you William, I saw the new opening and it was cheap looking and way too fast. Made me dizzy lol.

I blinked and missed it…we barely got closing credits so why show either at all…a big GH just popping up on Carlys head is all they need these days

Thanks for the laugh, Jimh. I really needed that, today.

is this for contract players only?

No it features recurring as well

If that’s true where was KFC’s Colonel Sanders? I call fowl. That’s it. I’M SO DONE WITH GH NOW!!

Not a fan of this opening at all. The faces pass by too quickly, it’s dizzying. I miss the opening from 2004-2010, the music and style was great.

OMG, so amateurish. And the pace of the images doesn’t match the music at all. Laughing at this so hard.

Lousy. Makes me think they are going to drop it off the air!!!

Too fast. Might as well not have an opening.

Looks even lamer and low-budget than the last one. The skyline and skyscrapers are so obviously fake, it’s distracting. Looks like a cartoon.

I didn’t makes no sense either, because Port Charles is not a major city with millions of people.

Prior to this skyline, there was a much better treatment of the city, with recognizable locations such as the piers and the hospital and the harbor

They did’nt show Liz,Franco,Finn,Anna and a few others

Oscars there he lives

Word is there are multiple versions. For the first time, all key recurring performers that aired in Monday’s episode were included in that day’s opening.

While the photos move very fast, it is rather stimulating and better than the versiontheyve been using for the last 5 years.

Nothing will top “Faces of the Heart”, but the show can’t spare all that additional time for an opening.

What??????

Places of the Heart was the theme song for many years

I agree, that was the best. They should take a long at YR the top rated SOAP and see how classy and timeless they open is and the same song they have had all along. There is the hospital in the backdrop??

It goes by too quickly

Clearly a mostly Caucasian cast… Wish there were more actors of color on the show.

Then go watch “The Haves & Have Nots”.

Nothing I dislike more than a shit-pot stirrer – and that would be you!!

PAlease! Jordan, Curtis, TJ, Stella, Epiphany Johnson, Felix DuBois, Yvonne, her husband, Brick, Valerie Spencer, Daisy, Brad and Transgender Terry Rudolph! TV is evolving, quit trying to stir the pot!

I had to laugh. Sometimes we complain that our favorites aren’t in the opening credits. Well, it LOOKS like all the contract players should be on the two versions I’ve seen so far. I say “LOOKS” because they go by so fast it’s hard to tell. Gotta love it. I won’t complain, I guess. LOL!

Not overly impressed same crappy music and images of actors go by to fast

Why are Elizabeth and Franco not in the new beginning for GH?

Maybe it’s my eyes or my brain but I think it moves a bit too fast. Could certainly slow it down by a few seconds.

I detest this. I thought the PREV opening was too seizure-inducing. This is so much worse.

to fast for me……..i miss the one with the ambulance going by the front of the hospital

That’s the one! I am not interested in seeing cast photos. Plus, it gave time to listen to a beautiful theme song.

Don’t like. Cool but too fast and does not depict the heart of gh. Key people not seen.

A little too fast for my liking. I always watch from the DVR so I don’t see the opening anyway.

I loved it! I hope they continue to shake it up every now and then.

Thank you! It looks like we’re the only ones who do! I think it’s gorgeous and modern. Love it!

This is way too fast and it looks so cheap. The openings of our favorite shows is something that we all remember. Why can’t they take 30 seconds and have a decent opening that honors the cast and the history of the show? It’s one of the things I always remember about my favorite soaps growing up – but this is something that definitely is not memorable. Change it please!

Let me guess… an even shorter opening so they can add another minute of commercials??

Even before this opening “update” this so called “hour” show was clocking in at right around 36 minutes of actual content.

I didn’t watch any of the helliday rerun episodes, but I would be surprised if they actually ran the whole episode, and didn’t somehow re-edit them, or else there would be a very noticeable difference in the run time of a 1997 episode vs 2019.

This (as well as the all too common “news interruptions” for the most trivial dragonshit, like some senile orange moron babbling on about nothing in particular) is why it’s pointless to watch this show “live” anymore. And why it should be illegal for a BROADCAST network such as ABC to demand you pay a cable company $666/month in order to be able to watch this show on their website and/or Hulu without an 8 day delay.

I watch on Hulu. I work during the day so when I get home in the evening the new episode is there waiting for me commercial free and no risk of Don the con interrupting my show.

They need to change it immediately…like someone else said, it’s the worst opening I have ever seen for any show…The ambulance might as well be back…

Yep it really cheapens GH looks like money ran out and your shutting it down. What are you thinking anyway??

I’m not loving the new opening it’s way too fast I watched twice and it didn’t give me vertigo but it wasn’t pleasant!

GOSH NO!

I still like the old one when they showed the old hospital General Hospital and the music that was the best

Put MONICA BACK IN THERE, then Laura. Jason Sonny.

Not so much! Too fast!

Nope, WAY too fast!

Its gotta go!!! It’s too fast and put everyone in. I feel like I’m going to have a seizure watching that.

I like it, But it goes way to fast, maybe slow it down

Too darn fast! Makes me dizzy!

Does anyone ever leave positive messags here, not just on the opening title sequence subject but of anything GH, everyone is always so negative. Again as I’ve said before GH is GH again and a few years ago it was unrecognizable,. As a long time fan, if over 30 years easy, GH was terrible between 2012 and 2015, it was almost ruined, thank soap maker of the year Ron c. For that. Big stories bloated cast, lack of heart and dialogue, ” the writer” as he was at that time was at the helm the only years I ever did not recognize GH. I couldn’t stand tuning in to every charcter constantly repeating what was going on , as if to explain to the audience how complex everything was. It seemed a soap of a soap, not GH. GH has always been best when it’s balanced it’s “soapiness” with real life sh*t!while centering around the hospital. The 2 writers that took overfor Ron c. Were all but torched, though they actually helped regroup the show and bring it back to what it was, 1 if those writers survived and now heads the show with Chris van Etten, who gets not enough praise, though uses history, sentiment, real sh*t, and yes soapiness. I’m in love with GH, again, and am in constant disgust that no one ever seems to take the time and praise the show or acknowledge what is good. If your not a real fan go watch Days it may be your speed, and depth, that’s what it is.GH is better then it’s been in along while, sincerely a longtime fan, who appreciates things like Sam not sitting on Jason’s face as soon as he came back, because there’s more drama in life then in the soap u watched in the 80s .

We all have our opinions, GH sucks right now, let’s get this soap cancelled by next year. Bring back OLTL.

you can dream, anything is possible, but OLTL is dead, its not coming back no matter how awful you try to spin that GH is.

The point of this thread was the opening credits and, based on the reaction, most really do not like it…myself included. It may sound silly but I actually have always loved watching the different openings on the soaps — the ones used by GH in past couple of years have been less than memorable. The music and the graphics set the tone for the show…so I really don’t appreciate these 15 sec whirlwind openings.

That said, I agree with you about the quality of the show itself and also feel like people trash it way too easily. There was a brief period when I liked Ron‘s writing but each scene was super short, the show was choppy and some of the worst storylines ever were written by him (Pickle Lila…ugh). In the end, for me, he was not a good fit for GH. There are a lot of positive things going on right now — not the least of which is seeing Genie Francis again and watching Ava and Ryan light up our screens. And yes it is balanced. So here’s to GH! (But it needs a better opening!).

I forgot my biggest beef with Ron — he absolutely ruined Heather Webber….he wrote her as a cartoon character. I will never forgive him for that travesty. Previously she had been one of the best soap villains in the history of soaps. I still miss her (from the earlier days).

People are NEVER happy! If the old ambulance opening still ran people would bitch about GH being behind the times! And who really watches the opening regularly? Dont we all DVR? I couldnt stand watching it live with Finn ruining Anna, Anything Lulu, that wussy Valentin and Oscar reading off cue cards!

people complain to just complaint, its out of habit they want the past back, the good old days, ect, but you know what?over the holidays gh aired episodes from the past, and current gh actually held up, yes, there were some faces I missed from the past but there was Also a lot of characters I saw in those episodes I didn’t miss. GH does a few things to fix, but over all its a great show to watch, and the new opening is a little to fast but I kind of like seeing contract and recurring actors in the opening.

I noticed several non-contract actors in the opening: Jon Lindstrom, Kin Shriner, James Patrick Stuart, Cassandra James, etc. Has GH decided to put contract and recurring players in the opening now, or have these actors been put on contract?

The former.

That looks horrible! I’m happy DAYS’ hourglass has withstood the test of “time”…slowly but surely and simple, yet elegant!

Wow, I guess the opening is in a race…sheesh

super fast!!slowly is better!!

BOOOOO BOOOO STINKO !!
AWFUL, CHEAP, BLAND,
HORRIBLE !!
It is bad it is worse than bad, it is trashy cheap.

Why change it, huh? why?
I want the reasoning behind the terrible downgrade opening, who did it?
who do I blame for the horrible deed?

I want names !!!
Give me names, Michael- please.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You sound just like me haha!!!

Wait, there are other people on the show besides Sonny, Carly, Jason, and Sam…?

Shocker, isn’t it? I couldn’t believe it, myself.

This is beyond ridiculous and nauseatingly fast.

Right Randi. It was so fast I almost expected a voice over to ask,”Would you like fries with that?” McGeneral Hospital.

It reminded me of one of those old antique viewers things when you moved the pictures rapidly to give it movement like a movie-lol

Perfect description.

Way to fast!

“Daytime television invites viewers into the private lives of characters, often bringing important issues like cancer screenings into living rooms and around water coolers. Soaps debuted the first cancer storyline in 1962 – years before the topic was discussed in the mainstream, and it left an indelible impact: a whole generation of women who scheduled a potentially life-saving Pap smear for the first time,” said Daytime Stands Up host Alan Locher. “For so many viewers, this brought the issue front and center,” added co-host Michael Fairman. “Today, it’s become almost impossible to avoid; but there is hope with cancer research, thanks to organizations like Stand Up To Cancer.”

Everyone has a story, and we’re grateful to all of you for sharing yours.”

For over 15 years, SU2C has leveraged its relationship with the entertainment community – which includes more than 1,100 celebrity ambassadors – to generate public donations, increase awareness and fund cutting-edge cancer research. SU2C research has contributed to the development of more than 10 scientific breakthroughs that have significantly impacted the field and provided new treatment options for breast, colorectal, lung, melanoma, pancreatic, pediatric and prostate cancers.

Haley Pullos Receives 90-Day Jail Sentence Following DUI Charge And Wrong-Way Car Crash

Former General Hospital actress, Haley Pullos (ex-Molly Lansing-Davis) is going to be doing time in jail, exactly one-year after her arrest from a hit and run wrong-way car collision.

The crash resulted in bodily harm and damages to the other driver, and now Pullos who pleaded “no contest” to the charges and will serve 90 days in jail. She was taken in custody on Monday, April 29th, after the ruling.

According to Haley’s attorney, Mark Daniel Melnick, the 25-year-old actress struck a plea deal and after her three months in jail will be sentenced on July 29th. As part of that sentencing, she must serve five years probation, 200 hours of community service and pay $8,260 in restitution to Courteney Wilder, the other driver in the crash and her driver’s license is revoked for a year.

Courtesy/ABC

According to TMZ, the plea deal for Pullos has the “no contest” to one DUI, while the judge dropped the felony DUI causing bodily injury and misdemeanor hit and run charges.

Melnick said in a statement to PEOPLE, “Haley is very grateful to the court for a minimum sentence and for recognizing her remorse and the strides she has made in her sobriety.”

Pullos had played the daughter of Alexis Davis (played by Nancy Lee Grahn) on the ABC soap opera since 2009, but after her car crash and DUI she was replaced by three different actresses until the show finally settled on the current Molly, Kristen Vaganos.

Back in April 29 of 2023, and at the scene of the crash, the police found edibles and mini-bottles of tequila in Pullos’ vehicle and that she was intoxicated. As it turned out, this was to be the second hit and run in the evening for Pullos who had an earlier collision with another car.

The courts decision follows a year-long legal battle with Haley’s pleas changing throughout it, ranging from “not guilty” to “no contest”. She sought treatment for her drinking at a rehab following the crash.

Nancy Lee Grahn, who portrayed Pullos’ on-screen mom took to X on Monday night, April 29th and shared on the sentence and the specific jail, Haley will be serving time: “As Haley’s TV mom I can tell some truths about her as I’ve loved her since she was little girl. She made a HUGE mistake, knows it, owns it & has spent the last yr doing EVERYTHING imaginable to take responsibility 4 it. It’s not that I oppose jail. It’s that I oppose this jail.” The jail in question by Grahn is the L.A. county jail.

So, what do you think about Haley Pullos serving a 90-days jail sentence, and the other rulings that will be part of her sentencing? Comment below.
