DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Will Learns He Has A Brain Tumor; What Next For WilSon?

Courtesy/NBC

On Days of our Lives, Sonny (Freddie Smith) and Will (Chandler Massey) have been through the wringer.  Just like any power couple in “soapdom” they are constantly pulled apart by circumstances that drives distance between them, or prevents them from being happily reunited.  But then, isn’t that was soaps are all about … or, do these boys deserve a bit of peace and quiet?

On Wednesday’s episode of the NBC daytime drama series, Rex (Kyle Lowder) and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) drop the bomb on WilSon.  Sadly, Will has a small brain tumor, although believed to be benign, it is is in a section of his frontal lobe that makes it most likely inoperable.

Will asks if that explains his headaches and why he has been passing out, and Rex confirms that is the cause.  He also says the tumor is likely benign, because the larger ones are usually cancerous.  The next step is to do a biopsy.  Rex advises Will to not exercise, drive, work, and to avoid stress right now.

Later at the Kiriakis mansion, Will Google’s brain tumor’s on the internet and is emotionally overcome with what it says.  In tears and looking very sad, Sonny comes on to the scene to comfort Will, but Sonny is looking concerned himself, trying to put on a brave front for Will.  Then, Sonny and Will admit they are frightened for what’s ahead, but Sonny says they must try to stay positive.  Will cries.

These scenes were nicely played by Chandler Massey and Freddie Smith, who always bring it in their scenes.

Look for more drama ahead for the duo and their on-screen families as Will deals with this new health crisis.

So, what does Will’s tumor mean for the future of WilSon?  What do you think will happen next? Are you upset that Will has this diagnosis? Do you want the duo to finally have some down time from all the drama, especially after getting Leo Stark (Greg Rikart) out of their lives?  Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

Hell yes they been through so much hell Wilson need peace after this storyline

I know this is going to be an emotional rollercoaster for Will and Sonny who have been kept apart for months because of Leo and his blackmail of Sonny roping him into a lifeless marriage. Now that Leo is out of their lives (at least it seems like it) this new complications occurs. Why can’t these two be happy for a bit before life throws them another curveball? Anyway I know these two actors will.bring the drama and knock this out of the park just in time for another Daytime Emmy reel.

Enough of the dang brain tumours on soaps please!

Let him heal an be happy for awhile. We like happy along with insanity.

I’m heartbroken after watching Will & Sonny find out about the tumor this week. Their scenes were very well written and perfectly played by Chandler and Freddie. Their chemistry is off the charts!

I’m glad #Wilson are together at last, even if it’s under these circumstances. I hope they overcome this obstcle and get married again. We the fans deserve a #Wilson wedding and some happy time for our favorite gays ❤️

Brain Tumors are the new ‘hot’ soap stories..
All, soaps simultaneously have brain tumors and Alshimers/brain..

Brain Tumors
TJ- Y&R
Oliver- GH
Will- Days
Franco- GH
others are?

Alzheimer-
Michael- GH
Dina- Y&R

Do the soaps copy each other’s storylines- yup!
That’s quite weird- copycats lol ..

It’s why I’m kind of over American daytime soaps right now, and am shifting my focus to UK soaps, because they’re being pretty original and they’re actually entertaining to watch.

I think Pam Douglas on B&B survived a brain tumor, and said tumor’s effects on her thinking explained away her bad behavior toward Donna Logan when Donna was married the Eric.

I have tried the brain tumor excuse on my husband, family, and work colleagues ‘when I drop the ball on some things but they don’t buy it. 🙁 I am still held responsible!

Pam – B&B
JT – Y&R

Does this mean Chandler Massey will be leaving Days of Our Lives or will they find a fictional miracle cure for Will? Why does every gay story line have to end with tragedy and death? No Happy Endings in Hollywood anymore.

Why don’t they just reuse the Oscar/Joss scripts from GH, maybe the JT scenes from Y&R.

In other words, do we really yet another brain tumor?

I think Will and Sonny deserve some down time with all that has been happening in thier life’s so I pray that Will well over come all that is going on with him and they can be happy for once

I would really appreciate of all soap writers gave brain tumors a rest. Give us some real medical conditions that characters have to live with and adapt to.

Yes,why can’t Will and Sonny finally have a great life. They have had many struggles. It seems no one on Days vane be happy. These 2 deserve it.

I hope that the Writers starts making more joy on our Soap Opera, it’s supposed to be love in the Afternoon and since Ron C has been at Days it’s all doom and gloom for months on end!! Horrible Storyline that all of the Fans have made Known they are unhappy with!! Are you going to start listening to your Viewers at all!! Maybe think about a new Writing Team

ReRon can’t write for any sort of couple. Gay couples.. straight couples… doesn’t matter. If Tom & Alice Horton or Shawn & Caroline Brady were still alive, he’d find a way to mess up their relationship. Same thing he did at GH.

At least he didn’t make Will a serial killer and blame that on the tumor.

Let them be Happy and a couple from now on and raise that baby girl!

I actually thought they would find that Will was HIV positive. So much for my over-active imagination.

Yes is will go live if he takes off the neck lass of maybe he be ok to

Just wondering why 3 / 4 soaps on the air are featuring brain tumour stories. Are the writers that devoid of ideas??

I Want Will To Get Well And Heal So He And Sonny Can Finally Be Together And Get Married In A Big Wedding Ceremony And Have Fun And Exciting Storylines #WilSon ❤️❤️❤️

It’s a little bit to much, I miss the time when they were happily married and sonny use to fold Ari’s clothes…

They Should Do A Special Tribute Musical DAYS Dream Sequence Episode About Will Horton While He Is Recovering From The Brain Tumor
With Flashbacks Of His Life With Sonny , Dance Numbers , Singing And Imagining What Would Life Be Like Without Him In Salem Cause They Did One For Marlena ⏳I Bet They Secretly Filmed The Episode Last Year

I’m loving the idea of “Sonny and Will, the Musical.” Lots of tap shoes, top hats and dancing canes…

Days is my favorite show, but please leave Will and Sonny alone.I wonder if Paul will come back , the writers will make something happen with them,Well they did before. Also change of subject here, for crying out loud please let Ben be happy.

I sure hope that Wilson get better news they went through so much him and Sonny and the bottom line is that Leo had too black mail Sonny boy he needs too get a life so sorry about being nasty with the soap PIG but that is just how I feel

“Daytime television invites viewers into the private lives of characters, often bringing important issues like cancer screenings into living rooms and around water coolers. Soaps debuted the first cancer storyline in 1962 – years before the topic was discussed in the mainstream, and it left an indelible impact: a whole generation of women who scheduled a potentially life-saving Pap smear for the first time,” said Daytime Stands Up host Alan Locher. “For so many viewers, this brought the issue front and center,” added co-host Michael Fairman. “Today, it’s become almost impossible to avoid; but there is hope with cancer research, thanks to organizations like Stand Up To Cancer.”

SU2C Co-Founder Sue Schwartz, SU2C President and CEO Julian Adams, Ph.D., and SU2C Health Equity Committee Member Elizabeth Jaffee, M.D., will also participate to speak to the importance of early detection, exciting scientific breakthroughs, and the ongoing work yet to be done to make screenings and treatment equitable for all.

“This year, an estimated 2 million people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer, presenting an opportunity for the public to stand with us and rise to the occasion,” said Adams. “We’re thankful to Alan Locher, Michael Fairman and our friends from the daytime television community, who will raise critical funding to honor those we’ve lost – and to propel new scientific breakthroughs for current and future patients. Everyone has a story, and we’re grateful to all of you for sharing yours.”

For over 15 years, SU2C has leveraged its relationship with the entertainment community – which includes more than 1,100 celebrity ambassadors – to generate public donations, increase awareness and fund cutting-edge cancer research. SU2C research has contributed to the development of more than 10 scientific breakthroughs that have significantly impacted the field and provided new treatment options for breast, colorectal, lung, melanoma, pancreatic, pediatric and prostate cancers.
