Alright fans bases, fan factions, followers on Twitter and Facebook and viewers of The Young and the Restless, One Life to Live, Days of our Lives, it’s time to mobilize and cast your vote for the hunkiest of hunks in daytime soap operas!

That’s right! We are down to the semi-finals in soaphunks.net’s annual Adonis competition where soap fans can cast their vote for who is the overall, “Hottie”! The men still in the running for the Adonis 2011 competition are:  OLTL’s David Gregory (Ford) Y&R’s, Daniel Goddard (Cane) and DAYS, James Scott (EJ).

With two weeks to go, we hear the race is close and Week 10 of the voting competition is on now through August 9th. The voting results will be announced  on soaphunks.net on August 10th.  That means, next week fans will find out which hunk was given the boot and must wear a shirt…leaving only two of your favorites to battle it out in the final round with the final results announced on August 17th!

Now when deciding who to cast your vote for here are some points of interest…so let’s review!

Daniel Goddard: Has an energized fan base that seems to be pretty active on Twitter. In the prior 7 years of Adonis, no Y&R star has ever finished better than 7th place, but now he can’t do any worse than 3rd no matter what.

David A. Gregory: His fans are gathering on the actor’s Facebook page and coordinating efforts. David won the top award (“Best Hunk”) at the site’s other big contest– the year-end Soaphunks.net Awards last year.

James Scott: Has won Adonis the past four years, so obviously has history on his side. Obviously has a large, organized fan base that drives his efforts, mostly on message boards.

In an interesting turn of events there is one actor per network left in the competition, so it is shall we say, well-rounded!

So let us know here, who should win Adonis 2011 and why and make sure to cast your vote!

A good body or a pretty face means nothing to me if there is not intelligence, humor, talent, personality, terrific faults, and depth behind the eyes of the individual. It’s a pity that , at least Gregory ( I am not familiar with the other two) seems to me to be little more than a blow-up doll. Trevor St. John, on the other hand, seems to encompass all of these things and they are visible behind his eyes. That, to me, is someone who is attractive. But then, I never claim to be part of the mainstream.

You say that David is nothing more than a blow-up doll…that he has no intelligence, personality or depth behind his eyes. I’ve known David for many years and he is one of the smartest, sweetest guys you could ever meet. You shouldn’t judge someone that you don’t know in real life….when in actuality, you only get to watch him on TV and get to see him “portray” someone that he is not…..I say, David should WIN!!!

I agree with J! I find the comment of David Gregory being a ‘blow-up-doll’ ,insulting, and in poor taste. To make such false assumptions because of someone’s looks, is not only being careless, but the statement is compeletely baseless! David is a trained actor, who has a degree in music theatre. This is not someone who was just hired because of his good looks, on the contrary, he is also a talented actor and singer. I second the motion, David should win!!

You are certainly welcome to agree with J and to have your own opinion.
I believe my point was missed, but okay. As I said, best of luck to him and to you.

I was just musing that the phrase “Blow-up doll” is being imbued with meaning I haven’t given it. I meant “blow-up doll” not in the sexualized manner (I’m guessing it was mistaken due to the nature of these awards, but I’m just guessing) but in the way of placeholder, random young, sexy everyman, pane-of-glass way. This is more of a commentary on what the writers have created as a character than it is on the individual. In fact, I am neutral on David Gregory, and I will explain. The Ford are pretty much a plot device family created to develop story for the main families in Llanview. I have not seen any depth in any of them. Inez was played by Jessica Leccia, and she has been good in what I have seen her. Nate exists to create conflict between Todd and Dani, to make Dani act moronically, and to be disturbing because the actor is way too old for Kelley. James exists as an accessory to Starr, being hot (and jealous when necessary). Ford is nothing but a stereotype who is manipulated based upon what is needed. The role was designed for <>. I am neutral on David Gregory because he has not shown me anything else but what was written on the page. In another role he may be brilliant but I have yet to see it. In my opinion, the character is meaningless and boring. However, the actor has an opportunity to make me see something else, and I haven’t yet.
For example, Téa is often used as a plot device or is a background character. (try watching “Perfect Stranger” for a prime example, and especially the courtroom scenes at the end in which she has no lines and is not a focus. She is the only reason that horrible movie is worth watching, honestly) However, no matter what crap she is given, the eye is drawn to her like no actor I have ever seen. She makes even filler worth watching.
My point is, while David Gregory may do very well in a role that is written to have depth and meaning, I have not seen anything outside of what has been written as of yet. Therefore, I have not seen anything else from him. I am not making personal commentary on whether he is a nice person or whether he is a good friend because I have not seen anything outside the script.
Please feel free to comment on my statement, me personally, or not, as you wish.

Oops, the Fords should be plural and my bracket content disappeared: Young, sexy man with a good body.

The role of Ford is much more than a supportive 2-dimensional character. I would put him in the same class as that of Rex. He is a complex character that has much more depth than some of the other on the show. His transformation over the last 2 years is incredible, and Ron Carlivati has done a phenomenal job developing this character. With the hint of foreshadowing, Ford’s journery has led him to Jessica. It is not an accident that these 2 characters have been placed together. David Gregory has made Ford his own, and this is a credit to him as an actor.

Alexa,

With what you are saying….that David “hasn’t shown you anything else besides what he is given on the page” is because you don’t know him and/or seen him do anything else besides Ford, so how can he show you himself when he is playing someone else? Another good point that Di pointed out…the character of Ford was only created about 2 years ago…so in the entertainment business side of it…they could have gotten rid of his character easily and no one would had been upset by this, if he wasn’t a good actor. BUT, due to the fact that David took the role and made something out of it…they based other story lines and characters around his….he must be doing something right as an actor…wouldn’t you say?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I respect that. I merely just think that you (alexa) were attacking David Gregory as a person and actor…instead of the character “Ford” (which I feel he does a great job at).

Thanks

Daniel Goddard’s fans are many (almost 20,000) on his Facebook fan page and have been promoting the Adonis contest all along. Just like his fans were successful in getting him back into Y & R, they will succeed in getting him voted Adonis #1!!!
GODDARD FAMILY OF FANS (GFF) rule!!!!

Daniel Goddard is the whole package. He is drop dead gorgeous, an exceptionally good actor,, his fans love him because he shares his life with them and is very interactive with them. He is a very down to earth family man who absolutely adores his wife Rachael and two boys, Ford and Sebastian. He tries so very hard to give his boys a normal life and is very hands on raising them. He is very appreciative of everything his fans do for him. He just quite simply has it all.

you are so so very right daniel goddard is the whole package all wrapped up into one and then some a very great actor !!!! DANIEL does share his life with us on his pg he always shares something and then more everyday and he loves his family life as well and he always is interactive with his fans!! he does charity for childrens hospital’s!! i could go on on but all i can say he deserves to win!!!

Daniel Goddard is the ULTIMATE ADONIS!!!
GFF’s ROCK!!!

Alexa,

You say that David is nothing more than a blow-up doll…that he has no intelligence, personality or depth behind his eyes. I’ve known David for many years and he is one of the smartest, sweetest guys you could ever meet. You shouldn’t judge someone that you don’t know in real life….when in actuality, you only get to watch him on TV and get to see him “portray” someone that he is not…..I say, David should WIN!!!

I believe I characterized my response with “seems.” I am sure he is a lovely person; I am merely pointing out what he has made visible to me, nothing else. I wish him well, as I wish you well despite the fact that you just judged me.

David Gregory is much more than a pretty face, a great smile and a gorgeous body. He can play charming bad boy and sweet dad/brother/friend on OLTL. He is one of the main reasons I tune in. He’s also very fan-friendly, down to earth and a wonderful ambassador for the show. Best of the bunch. Deserves the Adonis this year – hands down.

#1 daniel goddard
#2 daniel goddard
#3 daniel goddard
and always will be

Daniel Goddard will bring that trophy home to the NUMBER ONE RATED SOAP OPERA

where it belongs. Sorry I pressed enter before I was done. lol

James Scott, James Scott, James Scott, James Scott, James Scott, James Scott, etc.

He has the looks, the talent, and that swoon-worthy accent!!! I’m melting just thinking about it.

i totally agree with leslie how can you not look away from james scott and his body face and accent too he’s a real pretty boy

Totally Daniel Goddard, if us GFF’s have anything to do with it.

I know he’s not in the running but Michael E. Knight will always be the hunkiest daytime actor to me!

It’s Daniel Goddard’s year to win. He deserves it. He not only is easy on the eyes, he has an amazing love and compassion for his family and fans that emanates through his interaction with his fan page. Nothing makes a man sexier than intelligence and genuine concern for other people. Thanks DG for loving all of us so much. This year is for you if the GFFs have anything to say about it!

James Scott for the win!

Daniel Goddard is the ultimate Adonis! He is absolutely gorgeous, has a rock-hard body and a very sexy accent, not to mention that he is the sweetest guy to his fans. This is his year to WIN if the GFFs have anything to do with it!

James Scott gets my vote, though I think all three finalists are deserving of the title. 🙂

I have voted every single day for Daniel Goddard and I will vote for him until he wins this contest. Daniel Goddard is a down-to-Earth, sweet, and fun guy. Not only handsome, he is a great actor, both in tragic and funny departments. He is a great Dad and Husband to his family and he loves his fans who love him back very much. We will make Daniel win the Adonis.

Hope this is Daiel’s year. What a find the Adonis site has been hehe…

Daniel Goddard definitely! Daniel is the epitome of sexy! He’s kind hearted, generous, smart, sexy, funny, loyal, and a wonderful father and terrific husband. To me, he’s at his sexiest when he interacts with his fans and shares stories and pictures with us about his children.

David A Gregory for sure! He has such a freaking smoking hot body, and he’s not shirtless enough on OLTL!

Always James Scott I love this man sexy, hot, handsome bad boy so my vote is James Scott!!!!!!!!

i was hoping that nic robuck would be a finalist, but i also like david gregory

Bryan Dattilo/Lucas Horton ex Days, but his name is not here,to bad

James Scott will always be the #1 Adonis to me!

James Scott is always my pick and favorite for any “face” contest. The title of Adonis fits him to a tee.

James Scott is by far so deserving of the Adonis award…He has a terrific body, he is GORGEOUS, and he is a very talented actor. The other two are good looking also, but James outshines them all in every way…the WHOLE PACKAGE!!!!!! <3

David of course! I’ve been able to “talk” with him via his facebook and he is just such an easy going guy not letting any of this go to his head at all! He knows he’s got a great body but he does not rely on that!

Go David Go!

James Scott IS and always will be Adonis.

James Scott has my vote. He is sexy, a great actor and intelligent.

james scott is totally overall hottie in this contest he has it all in this bag

I’m a huge fan of James Scott, not just his looks, but the man.

He’s private person but invests a lot of his personal time with charities.

His accent doesn’t hurt, either.

James Scott gets my vote. James = Adonis.

all the guys are good looking but I prefer James Scott, his looks are amazing as well as his charm, intelligence, wit, kindness, respect for other actors and his fans. on top of all this he is so talented, every move he makes is awesome, he can change emotion with his eyes or body language. When he smiles its like a million lights go on and brighten up the room so for me he is Adonis.

Oh, James Scott has it all going on! The other two are nice looking men, but James Scott is Adonis.

If you go to the Adonis website you can click on each hunk. I’ve clicked on and saw that James was never a bottom 3 or 2. The other two guys are. I am sure James shall win his 5th “Adonis”.

“Daytime television invites viewers into the private lives of characters, often bringing important issues like cancer screenings into living rooms and around water coolers. Soaps debuted the first cancer storyline in 1962 – years before the topic was discussed in the mainstream, and it left an indelible impact: a whole generation of women who scheduled a potentially life-saving Pap smear for the first time,” said Daytime Stands Up host Alan Locher. “For so many viewers, this brought the issue front and center,” added co-host Michael Fairman. “Today, it’s become almost impossible to avoid; but there is hope with cancer research, thanks to organizations like Stand Up To Cancer.”

SU2C Co-Founder Sue Schwartz, SU2C President and CEO Julian Adams, Ph.D., and SU2C Health Equity Committee Member Elizabeth Jaffee, M.D., will also participate to speak to the importance of early detection, exciting scientific breakthroughs, and the ongoing work yet to be done to make screenings and treatment equitable for all.

“This year, an estimated 2 million people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer, presenting an opportunity for the public to stand with us and rise to the occasion,” said Adams. “We’re thankful to Alan Locher, Michael Fairman and our friends from the daytime television community, who will raise critical funding to honor those we’ve lost – and to propel new scientific breakthroughs for current and future patients. Everyone has a story, and we’re grateful to all of you for sharing yours.”

For over 15 years, SU2C has leveraged its relationship with the entertainment community – which includes more than 1,100 celebrity ambassadors – to generate public donations, increase awareness and fund cutting-edge cancer research. SU2C research has contributed to the development of more than 10 scientific breakthroughs that have significantly impacted the field and provided new treatment options for breast, colorectal, lung, melanoma, pancreatic, pediatric and prostate cancers.
