Congrats, Donna you deserve this win 🙂

Hard to believe this was Donna Mills first Emmy, but well-deserved. Congrats.

Congrats to the winners….

But…Days wins set design, and GH makeup? Hmmmmm.

Sunday will be interesting.

DAYS winning set design was a SHOCK!!!!

Congratulations to Donna Mills! Hope we can look forward to a return engagement for “Magda/Madeline!” By the way, she looked absolutely stunning!

Im really glad Donna won too…liked her on LIAMST soap back in the late 60s and in tv movie, ‘Live Again, Die Again,’ and in theatrical movie, ‘Play Misty For Me’ and of course ‘Knots Landing’…i thought Ilene Kristen shouldve also been nominated for guest appearance too…i hope KG…our favorite Mutter…is nominated for a supporting emmy next year!!!

Yes, jimh, you are so right, Ilene also deserved a nomination, as did Constance Towers! Both were awesome in their own inimitable fashion. And Thaao Penghlis, too! I think the academy needs to separate the Emmy category for guest appearances into male and female categories….there were so many deserving individuals with limited roles this past year and most were on GH! As for Mutter, OMG, yes! Kathleen Gati most definitely should win for best supporting actress….she is utterly superb! I certainly hope she has another stunning musical number (or two…) at the upcoming Nurses’ Ball!

I’m hoping right along with you, jimh….about K Gati winning next year, that is.
Congrats to Ms Mills…love her.

Yes, ilike that idea of seperate male and female guest appearance emmy nomination…maybe next year!!!

B&B has always had strong production values so there no surprise they would get the majority of these awards. Surprise there was a three way tie for guest spot, but I’m glad Ms Mills finally got an Emmy for something. The only one I was confused by is Days getting an award for set decoration, scenic design and art direction– but I suppose trying to make the same set look like 5 or more other sets, does take some talent and pushing some plastic tulips into foam, does make the fake park look very spring like– LOL– I’m glad they won but not sure why

The park really improved since it got rid of that stairway to nowhere and that white couch that never got dirty…i guess birds only like to poop on benches and the back of my dang head!!!…lol

Perhaps they won for alternative/creative set design ideas on a shoe string budget? HA! I forgot about the couch. I still don’t know-is the square outside-the couch confused me. I assumed it was outside with people running throught the square into the “park” and “woods.” It must have a dome for inclement weather, haha!

They didn’t get rid of the white couch, some kids for Salem U must of have stolen it because it is now in their lobby on campus– LOL

Lol, jimh. That infamous staircase served its purpose, no? Sadly the purpose was for Nicole to tumble from it, losing her unborn baby; which I detest when soaps do that. And, of course, that staircase landed Jenny in jail….I was glad for that, though….LOL.

Im so bored with JJ and Paige right now i didnt even notice that couch in Salem U…i guess if they can recycle sets they can recycle that couch too…now what happened to the former Dimera drawing room?????

Has anyone ever seen a WHITE couch on campus? What University would do that?……especially in the students’s lounge. Idiotic, I say!

I dont think B&B will take home drama series, but they are serious contender for directing team and supporting actor.

Sharon Case should of been nominated. Her work on The Young and The Restless has been outstanding for the past several years 🙂

I agree, Kim. Sharon Case is the only credible character, in my opinion.
Every challenging role she is given, she makes her own and excels in it.
We are given front row seats for her front-burner performances, yet she is kept in obscurity…know what I mean?

I feel Sharon Case playing the great talented Sharon Newman YR is being dissed like Susan Lucci was on AMC all those years. Please give Sharon Case her own award she deserves it

I’m pretty sure she has an Emmy…..:/

I remember Sharon Case won an Emmy in 1999. I was thirteen at the time. But, she deserved to have been, at least, nominated this year….she was outstanding.

DAYS won for Art Direction/Set Decoration? LMAO — is this a JOKE???

DAYS has the WORST sets in daytime HISTORY. This award alone proves what a complete joke the Daytime Emmys are.

I couldn’t agree more!!!! Everyone running into each other at that friggin park is nuts.

I wouldn’t want to be relaxing with glass of wine having lunch watching Daniel or Jennifer in their workout gear running through the square-into the park-into the woods. HA!

I was shock as well , but they did not submitt the park , they submitted the college set design. They use to have
Great sets about 15 yrs ago, but we do not select the winners.

Right? Each one of those characters thinks out loud…or have secret meetings that aren’t so secret. If that park could only talk….!!!!!!!! LOL.

Scratch last replied it was the river set were nick drown.

I think it was TERRIFIC Donna Mills won her 1st Emmy Award! Ms. Mills has ALWAYS been a great classy actress! Who can forget Abby on Knots Landing? Congratulations! Few actress of todays generation can do what she does!

LOL

OK fans….. ante up

DAYS won for best set decoration

ROFLMAO

where do we go from here ?

best serial still

Days won set direction? Really?! I guess the fact that they can re-dress one office set for everyone makes them winners….Sorry, but the fact that there are so few sets these days Is not outstanding in my opinion.

Days for set design? I guess I missed a few episodes.

3 way tie on the first stars? At least Donna got her award – she deserved it! They should have aired that one Sunday with all the name actors competing for it.

Congrats to all the shows and ask the winners!

How did DAYS win for set design?!?!

The river set where it was believed that Nick drowned.

So different from the days when there were a dozen or more soaps.

I had a good laugh over this one;

Outstanding Hairstyling for a Drama Series
The Young and the Restless (CBS)

Most, not all, wear wigs or have a 10000 hair extions, their hair is rarely natural..
ohh well, lol ..

GH.. All seem to have their own natural hair.
(dont know about B&B and DOOL hair)

guess the award is for best wigs and extensions.. aha!

I agree, Su. Y&R has the worst hairstyles/hairstylists of the remaining soaps. Abby and Lauren sport the worst….passe’ and artificial. Phyllis and Chelsea wear the most natural hairdos.

Congratulations Donna Mills you are one of the greatest soap stars of all time! You will always be the scheming Abby to me though love Knots Landing so much!

As she has appeared on television on daytime serials, night time series, and made-for-television movies for 45 years, I’m am very surprised that this was Donna Mills’ first Emmy award.

I’ve enjoyed watching Miss Mills for decades on the various television shows/movies in which she has appeared. Frequently, it appeared to me that Mills was carrying a LOT of this programming “on her back.” One could make the argument that she single handedly “saved” an early “Knots Landing” from cancellation by the way Mills, formerly known as a “good girl” TV actress, nailed the role of vixen Abby Fairgate.

It SHOCKS me that this is the first win by this woman. I don’t think that, over her career, Mills has gotten the industry recognition that she has repeatedly has deserved.

Also, I’m a little unimpressed that, given the current, less than stellar state of daytime serials, one of these shows is not clamoring to get Mills to bring her very popular presence to their show on a more permanent basis. Mills implicitly shows an willingness to return to her daytime roots by her recent “cameo” appearances on General Hospital. Why doesn’t someone like Brad Bell try to land her under a regular contract? Mills would be a PERFECT (and much needed) addition to Bold & Beautiful — playing a sorely needed, appropriate love interest for Eric Forester.

is it possible to watch the emmy’s in canada ?? —–thanks brian

What a joke, a three way tie! Who’s ever heard of such a thing!?! What kind of honour does that make? Like Oprah- YOU GET AN AWARD! YOU GET AN AWARD! EVERYBODY GETS AN AWARD!

Except for you Meredith Baxter– a three way tie and she still didn’t make the cut– talk about a blow to the ego.

I agree Jules and Mary SF-sort of ridiculous; athough, I am thrilled that Donna Mills was recognized for her talents. With only four soaps left, there really isn’t a reason for a tie in any category-IMO.

Congrats B&B on a whopping 7 wins, Y&R on 3 wins and DAYS on 2 wins!

I would’ve prefer Meredith Baxter over Fred Willard for Guest Performer!

Well put

I am completely shocked this was Donna Mills first. nomination and win. She was the best on knots Landing ! She almost carried the show alone.. I didn’t see much of her on GH. I really can’t watch the mess this show has turned into. Congrats to Donna and Ray also. I remember him on soaps before.

Glad Donna Mills won her first emmy after all these years. Was not surprised Ray Wise and Fred Willard also won. I think B&B may have become the frontrunner to win drama series, because they dominated the creative arts emmys, and sometimes this is a sign of what’s to come. I think it is a tossup over who will win Drama Series, because none of them really stand. I thought their were much better episodes for the shows to choose from, but my pick is DAYS because of the gay wedding. It was an historic first for daytime, and the day in age we now live in. The problem with B&B’s reel,it focused more on location than story. GH only submitted one good episode. The nurses ball episode may have too much comedy in it to win. Y&R selected the same story 2 years in a row. It may turn off the voters Y&R selected the same thing again, but this is Jill Farren Phelps your talking about, the academy sure seems to love her. I think she’s won more emmys than any other producer in history. She usually picks an emotional impact episode, what I think the voters look for.

Donna Mills is very deserving of this award. She lights up the screen every time that she’s on, which isn’t nearly often enough, in my opinion. Come back soon, Donna! Congratulations on your 1st Emmy!

Congrats to Donna Mills! Loved her as Madeline on GH. Hoping we haven’t seen the last of her in Port Charles.

Congratulations to all! However, I must admit I’m confused by how DAYS could win for best sets. They look like a bad high school production, just cheap. The other three soaps easily have better looking sets.

DOOL wins Emmy for Art Direction/Set Decoration/Scenic Design?!?! Are you kidding me?!?! They won for those omnipresent gawd-awful trees?!?! This win alone tells you all you need to know about the validity of the Daytime Emmys…

Too funny !!!!

The other shows have a whole hell more money to throw around , especially B&B. So back off Days.

There you go again, code. You back off!……and allow other posters to opine.

I’m just started Cee Cee , giving a opinion is one thing but bashing a show that is struggling is low and disrespectful. So days won the award. When all gives opinions till were blue in the face , it will not change Days won the award.

Was hoping Meredith would win, but congratulations to fellow Delta Gamma Donna Mills.

Y&R should not have won for hair.

I agree

Happy for all winners, but really REALLY felt that Meredith Baxter was the strongest performer in that category. She was riveting to watch and she mixed it up with series regulars like she had been doing it for years.

As for Lloyd, he will portray, reclusive writer Larry Arbuckle, who is to have had a rather famous grandfather. In the episode, Hall and Lloyd’s character intersect, which leads to onscreen sparks.
