GENERAL HOSPITAL: Kristina Opens Up About Her Sexuality!

Courtesy/ABC

Courtesy/ABC

Last week on Friday’s General Hospital, Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) finally revealed her thoughts on where she is at with her sexuality in a frank conversation with her sister Molly (Hayley Pullos).

It begins when Molly questions Kritina as to when she was planning on telling her parents that she’s gay.  Kristina says she is actually confused and doesn’t know if she is gay, but that she is questioning her sexuality.  She even discusses her bad relationships with her past boyfriends, when it is brought up by Molly.  Kristina thinks she is bisexual, but she worries what Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Sonny (Maurice Benard) will think if they were to find out.  Later, Molly asked Kristina to tell her more about her feelings for Parker (Ashley Jones).  It was clear she is smitten with her professor!  In addition on last Thursday’s episode, Kristina had finally admitted to her parents what happened at college, and how she failed her class and then was suspended, because she came on her professor.

In tears, she says it was a stupid stupid mistake. Sonny does not left her off the hook so easily, and admits he’s disappointed in her, because of the opportunity they gave her, but that he will ensure she gets back into school in the fall.  However, Kristina doesn’t want to go back admitting she feels lost, and she doesn’t know who she, or where she’s headed.   And fast forward to Friday’s episode, Sonny had Max investigating the professor Kristina became involved with thinking it’s a man.  Sonny wants Max to send the guy a message.  He has no idea that Parker is a woman.

In the latest edition of Soap Opera Digest on newsstands now, Lexi Ainsworth related her thoughts on Kristina questioning her sexuality: “General Hospital has always been really great about touching on subjects like this, socially revelant issues, and this is a huge one. Everyone is talking right now about sexuality being fluid, and there are many people who have come out and said that they’re not just attracted to one sex: they’re attracted to who they’re attracted to, whether it be a man, woman, transgender.   It doesn’t matter: love is a universal thing.”

So, do you hope GH makes Kristina bisexual?  Do you hope she will turn out to be  gay?  Do you hope the show explores Parker and Kristina’s relationship?  What did you think of the scenes between Kristina and Molly, and Kristina and Sonny and Alexis on last week’s GH? I do not mind about Kristina opening up about her sexuality, I do mind how it is done..
There is no solid drama, no intense moments, no gripping story, it is lame.
It is a huge part of a person’s life for her/him to find their true selves and their struggle getting to that point..

The story is absent of the journey..
It is rushed, put together as a show piece and not a stable.

GH is LAME ..

the horrible breastfeeding story is an embarrassment to people’s intelligence / lame

the Caisimon story is either a very lame comedy or a complete fail at drama / lame

Dante and Lulu is a complete boring mess / lame

Duke’s son entering to do what? be Anna’s new son/whatever is uneventful, no drama, simply thrown together in a hurry with little direction / lame

Jason and Sam are just for show, no drama no intruge, no anything but a lot of talk and it is lackluster stale / lame

All the stories are a bundle of not much of anything going nowhere / lame

If GH does not get new writers that can bring life back to GH, to make it must see intriguing stories, to give us stories that make sense and grab us in, to turn GH back to GH, then GH will fall lower than it can come back from..

I agree with you 100%. Everyone couldn’t wait to get rid of Carlivati but they made a huge mistake. At least Carlivati kept it interesting and you could see that everything was headed somewhere. They should have just given him a co-writer to ground his stories a bit more, because, towards the end, they were getting a bit bizarre. But there is nothing worse in my mind, then these stories that seem to be going nowhere because the writers haven’t figured out what they want to do. There is character assassination left and right. Is Julian good or bad? We don’t know because the writers haven’t decided? Is Nathan a lyer? Well, the writers don’t know what to do with him so I guess now he is. It’s pathetic.

Hi su0000

Oh my gosh, I’m in total agreement with you on every point you made!!!! haha ha

#GHISLAME

GH is always lame. I have it playing in the background, and these days, I rarely will look up and watch it…I listen to it like it’s radio.

So many show piece events, Morgan’s bipolar, Tracey and her medical issue, Nathan and this Claudette chick, what the hell….where’s the real drama?!?! What happened to GH, you are so right, what do you call them, the Queens of Snooze? GH definitely needs fresh and younger writers, new blood, not old daytime blood. I hope GH can turn around, right now, it is sinking.

I love my DAYS OF OUR LIVES, and, yes, it does have it’s problems, however, I’m glued to the screen; I watch it!

#GOSU0000

Jeremy, can’t believe that I am in agreement with su0000 again, for the SECOND time (breathe again, Nancy!–lol) on almost all of her points.

Agreed, Jeremy…you always make good points.
I think that Claudette ( I knew before Claudette was personified), will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. She will materialize in PC and that will be he end of Nathan and Maxie. There is a little order in this chaos…LOL.
I knew since the ‘glove’ in the tux incident that Maxie and Nathan were headed downhill. TPTB do not want Nathan and Maxie together anymore.
Let’s not even talk about Morgan. Ugh!!
New blood?? Oh, boy, Jeremy…careful now. You will be called an ageist. LOL.

Then why don’t you guys post on the Days board? GH is not lame, i dont waiste time watching lame shows and if you are guys get so excited about it that you are posting on the GH board; they are doing something right.

@ CeeCee, yes, I do realize my wording wasn’t exactly what I was attempting to say. I suppose what I meant to say was that these four remaining soaps, and for me as a view, I watch DAYS and listen/watch GH, new writers to daytime should be considered, we see recycled stories over and over and over from the ‘seasoned’ daytime writers. Why not allow, any NEW writers to get in there and give us something new to talk about, new adventures, new mysteries, GH is lacking in adventure and mystery. Helena’s reading of the will, what a joke that was, mysterious in some ways, perhaps, but it’s nothing deep, it’s really not executed well. And we yearn for adventures, these “show pieces” are just that, here today…gone tomorrow. That doesn’t make me want to invest. Right now, I see more potential in DAYS OF OUR LIVES, and that’s just my personal opinion to others on this blog, not you CeeCee. Nice hearing from you again, love reading your other observations and thoughts, too.

My dearest Jeremy.
Again, my attempt at sarcasm failed miserably. LOL.
I agree with you about this, but in past posts, each time su, I or anyone else even mentioned the word, ‘ young ‘ or ‘new’, we were labeled ageists. I cannot blame the fans, i do understand thrir devotion to the vets. But, it is a vicious circle….there needs to always be room for younger actors.
Sadly, for Days, some of the youg ‘gang’ are failing ….however, they must start somewhere.
Trust me, my friend. I found nothing wrong with your writing. I enjoy reading your comments immensely.
Everyone is entitled to say whatever he/she has in mind( within borders, of course). When I disagree and give my opinion, I hope I do it civilly and not make the other poster feel less than. That is a terrible feeling.
Thank you, Jeremy, for your kind words. Nothing you said was improper or lacked decorum, of any kind.

You go, girl, SuzieQ. Love your post.
What TPTB are doing is beating around the bush. Make her gay, already!!!! I think Kristina is old enough to know herself….this vacillation is not doing it for me. I think she just worries about how her parents will handle the fact that she is gay; or what her friends will think, and/or eill they drop her as a friend. I do not like the lingering of “she MAY be gay”.
I could be wrong, I do not know. But, two of my very best friends are gay. These guys have known how they felt since they were tweens. They just knew. It was scary for them; but they were young kids. I was even bashed as a girl, being their friend, as we got older. I remember kids, jokingly calling me a fag-hag. Very hurtful and not so funny, for my friends.
Perhaps i am generalizing….i don’t know; everyone is difference. I duppise what’s good for one person, but not the other.
I do agree with you, though….this storyline is choppy…..no beginning. I don’t know what would be better….to delve into her past for clues; or be done and just give her a gay storyline. I would enjoy that more than this, is she or is she not?
As I said elsewhere…iI agree again; all the stories are MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING.
GH is a patchwork of dis-jointed stories, right now.

Wow: should read, will, different, suppose….

Suzy, your description is spot on BUT it sounds a lot like RC’s work. He would write in Tweets. Seriously, he would drop a bomb with no warning and no follow-up and thats what your accusing the women writers of doing with Kristina. I think that story and Anna’s are the two best right now.

I, like;

1. Kristina is gay
2. Tracy and her mind over matter
3. Anna started with so much celebrate… and argh! it’s still Finola Hughes

intriguing;

Griffin Munro… since the writing is so discombobulated… GH can make Griffin Anna’s son and/or Nephew

I still want to know ; who’s Claudette ????

how long is Kiki going to rehabilitate… a stronger woman without the Corinthos

YES! Curtis is helping investigate (Julian) and the saboteur of Crimson

wish listing

Carlos and Sabrina return with child… happy and ready to REEL

Brad and Lucas – are seen out and about as a happy couple

once Liz returns from her “haitus” FULL STEAM AHEAD with ; Franco

Nina gets caught up in Julian web.. and he in hers…

Mayor Lomas has some chutzpa… an air of intrigue and natural … STORY

Monday 3/21, EP

LOL… have to prop Michelle Stafford…. as she’s ripping her top off in court… and looking so sexy I that black bra…. and YES showing remnants of “Phyllis” that Nina is taking on… YES YES and MORE finesse smarts ooh la la take charge and lotsa SPARKS….. Nina is walking the red carpet

PS : I still like Mayor Lomax… hope she’s back more often

ITA Su, I haven’t watched in over a month, and I haven’t read anything about #GH that makes me want to come back.

You haven’t missed much..
GH is like a quickly tossed salad- all mixed up but with only the lettuce ..

There is no main/solid anything it’s just a mess of go nowhere stories..

((I fear for GH if this continues ))

It’s like Su000 through the looking glass.
I agree with her now about GH but disagreed with her when she was the pom pom girl for Ron and GH.
I agree with Tom’s point.

@su0000.
Oh, Lord, you crack me up. This visual is your best one, yet….a tossed salad with only lettuce. Good one….great way of describing boring.
I must say, though….GH is not boring me too much, yet. I am looking forward to a few plots.

I agree. The Crimson story and the breastfeeding kind of idiotic- I don’t care if Kristina is gay bi or straight. I miss Ron Carlivati’s writing and when they canned him they said he was doing other projects- what projects- Ron, where are you and when can we hear from you? Why is there no money in budgets so we can’t have on-location and regulars get bumped to recurring- I mean, hello, the number of commercials has steadily increased over the years. I would pay for Netflix of Hulu or whatever if they could come up with a good soap. If I spoke spanish I would start watching the telenovellas I think as they look pretty interesting.

@su….”A tossed salad with only lettuce?” You just described Roxy’s meal of choice!

Her sexuality is probably fluid because ABC wants to test the waters, get a sense how viewers are going to react– if positive, Kristina will be gay; if negative she will figure out she is straight after all. Making the character sexuality fluid sounds progressive on the surface of it, but in the end they might be just covering their butts in case there is a homophobic backlash at making a legacy character homosexual– making her fluid gives them a way out that doesn’t involving killing the character off like Days did when they lost their nerve to support a legacy character being gay long term.

Love this reasoning, Mary….very sound. Is Kristina gay, mstraight, or bi….dense on the viewers’ reception. So en pointe.
I believe the same thing will happen to Paul on Days. Considering how Will Horton’s gay character went ‘down’ (pun intended), TPTB do not want the same backlash from fans. So, they will ‘straighten’ Paul out. Bunch of hypocrites, Mary.
Smart post, Mary.

Exactly, Liz. We know they exist; but will the network be ok with it, as you stated.
I do believe it is exactly as you describe it.
I know that Mary SF would not make such a statement without thought. She knows exactly what she’s talking about. And, we are in agreement.

Brad and Lucas kiss. That didnt cause any stir.

And it was just a cardboard kiss–no drama, no real story–the state of GH, unfortunately. We don’t care about any of these characters because we don’t “know” them.

Your theory doesn’t hold any water. GH already has 3 openly gay characters, 1 of which is a legacy character (Lucas). Sure, they only get a fraction of the screentime as other characters, but they still exist!

Having token gay characters two of which are merely recurring and not woven into the fabric of the history of the show is not the same thing as making a legacy character from a major family openly gay and having that story front burner and permanent.

Yes Lucas is a legacy character and is gay, but after his coming out story he was written off the show and only came back recently and right now he might as well be a priest because after Ron left any or all realistic depictions of a gay sex life went out the window. The three gay characters on right now are so sanitized to be PC and PG they cannot offend anyone because their sexuality isn’t being shown at all, and when it was there a back lash.

Having gay characters exist on a soap but not showing every aspect of their gay experience including their sex life while claiming they support the gay community is like a KKK member saying he is not a racist because there is a black family in town. But yes, like you, I do credit GH for acknowledging the existence of homosexuality and other forms of sexuality, which is more than Y&R does, but I still see Kristina being fluid is not a sign of modern thinking but merely network brass playing it safe.

I can’t “see” them!

Mary’s theory is very sound, Gh 1000.
We are talking about a completely different person here, different gender, different personality.
Kristina as gay, or bi is a new concept for fans….having known her forever as being into boys/men.
We are not in THE MIDDLE AGES here…we are aware they exist. However, as Mary, i do believe TPTB have their BIG BROTHER eye opened wide. ‘They’ do want to test the waters….’they’ do want to see if the fans will conform or condone.
It never is as cut and dry as you think. And, do not ever ridicule/underestimate another’s post. State your premise without being rude, thank you.
Enough with the biting, sarcastic remarks by some of these posters.

I meant condemn, not condone.

Just because they exist doesn’t mean that ABC is 100% on board. I bet every time there’s a gay kiss, wedding or whatever the comment line goes nuts. Everything they’ve been doing lately is pandering to the few vocal viewers so I don’t doubt the testing the waters theory.

ABC, across the board and compared to NBC and CBS, is very progressive when it comes to LGBT visibility. There is LGBT talent on the news and the talk shows, there are LGBT characters on GH and in their primetime programming. Why would the execs at ABC hestitate to show a bisexual character?

Is that why Days killed off Will?….because the soap is so progressive? The only gay character left is Paul, whom I believe, will be ‘ungayed’.
At least, GH has an on-going romance between Brad and Lucas. How long this lasts remains to be seen. They could break up as any other couple.
Days completely disintegrated all gay characters. Paul only showed up, recently. It was ‘assumed’ he was around.
Besides, you said the theory of Mary’s ‘testing the waters’, held no water. But, now you agree. I am glad you see this now.
I do agree with you about the bisexuality storyline. You are right; it does seem that TPTB are hesitating….afraid to touch it.

Meh…

they are playing it so safe… on all outlets

student/teacher crush

Love “is” a universal thing

Fluid : never heard this term before… used to describe something that can change easily or that changes often

so.. this certainly let’s Lexie and the production “value” off the hook… should an uproar.. commotion rally

I DO, however, do not mind… Love is a universal thing… which I appreciate coming from the younger generations… “Thank You” which is simply putting any and all sexual attraction… together.. and… whatever floats your boat…

YES ! I laud this… because the (older) MEN in office are having to yield and recognize the younger generations MINDSET…. YES ! I love that they are responding vocally and with enthusiasm… that sexuality is just that… stimulation in all it’s form be acknowledged

the thing that makes me LAUGH ! what do I care what Sonny thinks ????

will this be done to prop his character… and bring him in to the 21st century… as being “cool” relevant… and sensitive ?

barf on any thing Alexis might wanna echelon her stance

nevertheless… I commend ABC / Disney / GH for traversing this arena… that exploring sexuality… is a lot more commonplace

I SO hope… even if she never couples with; Kristina… that Ashley Jones… is given more material… to feature her talents… she’s a sublime actress… and has a natural screen presence to mine… DAYS !!!! here’s your new Sami

it would be a good thing for Kristina.. to experience her feelings right here… in Port Charles… ????

I know when I left home… to go to college.. is where I came out… even to this day… would I dare traverse openly … in my home town ??? !

Lexie Ainsworth … do a bang up job… take no prisoners… be accountable… for the VALUE of character

Great post, Patrick. As a gay man, yourself, I do appreciate your input. Beside the point that each is an individual.

My point is that this storyline just got started. It’s too early to make judgements on how well the story is going to play out. Maybe they are testing the waters out, Kristina’s character has never been fleshed out anyway (semi-spoiled mob princess isn’t very deep). Why not take a breath and see if the the scripts, the acting, and the chemistry can create a good story?

I really like that they are exploring Kristina’s gender fluidity. I just wish it were with a peer and not a professor. They are introducing a power dynamic that is sometimes abused on college campuses. Plus Parker is a married women which makes Kristina a potential home wrecker on top of everything else. I would have liked it better if Kristina found herself attracted to someone in PC closer to her age. Valerie perhaps?

Excellent noticing the power dynamic that is abused on college campuses, workplace, politics, you name it!!!

This is a good point. Valerie could have a fluid sexualty too, hec im starting to feel fluid haha

And in what was otherwise a good storyline, there was the preposterous idea that Max could get from PC to Middletown and immediately dig up info on Molly all within what must have been an hour! Kristina saw Sonny should not have confronted Kristina until the next day at least. It’s just bad storytelling.

Meant to say Kristina not Molly!

And speaking of Molly, why did she have to sleep with her boyfriend–in such an “off-hand” way, off-camera (!)–a big “meh”!

@ Nancy, maybe Molly didn’t sleep with TJ, maybe she said she did because of the conversation with Kristina beforehand, maybe Molly mislead everyone, to conform and be like everyone – which would be out of character for Molly to do, but hey, it’s possible, if we didn’t SEE that scene happen, it’s a possibility that Molly and TJ didn’t go all the way. If Molly & TJ did have sex, I believe after the few years dating and being together, the show would have shown bits and pieces to show the maturity levels of both characters and the evolution of their history, the making love scene could have been done tastefully and been a great tribute to these characters who took their time until it felt right. But, I’m not convinced, Molly in some ways, is her father’s daughter, she could still be a virgin!

I agree she only did it to show a point that she was not gay but it did not work at all beacuse we did not get to see them do it at all but when they tired to do it before at the hotel room and mom find out and stop it from going on at all. so I think her idea was not to tall any one, but the way the sisters find out should have not been a surprise at all the fact that molly tired to help Kristina and Kristina sad no to her the first time should have been a sign that Molly was med and that she did not like her stepfather at all she did warm to the house he brought for their mom OK but it did not help that her sister was med at her for looking at her diry to begin with and reading it with out her say so at all but T J was not around much so maybe you could be right and they told her to say they did it on camera and have mom finely cry and have mom finely say Molly is not my baby any more OK thats just what I think

Its the Bewitched syndrome!

Lol Timmmbo. Too funny.
@nancy dillingham. Well, nancy…don’t you know? Molly wanted to gift her mother on her wedding day…” Oh, mommy. I lost my virginity…fresh apple off your tree”.
Well, at least it wasn’t in the back seat of a car for Molly….or was it?

I have no problem if she is straight, gay or bi…my problem with GH is these stories are not well connected to other stories or characters…it seems the writers have trouble connecting dots and they fall all over the place…instead of connecting Kristina to a current cast member like Kiki they just add another character to the show like Parker-their little affair is off camera…thats how they seem to write much of this show…instead of working in the characters they have they just add someone new to move their story…like Maxie and Nathan-instead of having maybe Valerie as his ex we now learn its someone named Claudette so it looks like a newbie will be introduced to move this story along while other character like Scotty get nuttin-his daughter Serena couldve been the teacher involved with Kristina and thats what they should had done…tied Kristina to a legacy character and gave kin Shriner more story involvement.

I totally forgot about her and now vaguely remember a pretty blonde little girl from years ago – who was her mother and where did she go? What about Kevin Collins is he 86’d as well? I would be very much in favor of a Dallas inspired it was all a dream and revive AJ Quatermaine, Connie Falconari- love love her and not as the perennial victim Sage- also Alan Qartermaine, Helena, Tony and bring back Johnny from prison and way more Kathleen Gatti -fire her from the hospital and turn her back into pure evil genius.

True, jimh, but that is the nature of this soap, none more so than when Ron C. was in charge of the stories. I had hoped that there would be a tendency away from that habit with a new writing team, but there is still too much heresay, off-camera action going on. Having said that, am I the only one who thinks that Parker’s main squeeze should have been Lomax? What a delicious dilemma that would have created with the animosity already stirred by Alexis and her legal posturings against the mayor. Can you just imagine how furious she would be to discover her woman was stepping out on her with the daughter of her latest nemesis? Oooh, that would just be toooo good!!!

Parker and Lomax…i would have loved that…you should be a story consultant for GH.

I do love the way you think, Shay!!!! Your table is set, Shay, abounding with mouthwatering delicacies….just a matter of choosing the juiciest pickings.

Thank you, CeeCeeGirl! There’s always a bountiful banquet just waiting to be served in my mind….it’s the preparation and presentation that provides the problems when it comes to making the cut on the MF menu!!!! LOL….

Parker would have had to have been blind! And speaking of the lovely mayor of PC, where in the hell would a mayor behave like that especially to another women! The story sucks breast milk! [Sorry!]

I no some times they are all over the place I like haw things are changing to the point that we could see a story that we could not see before but do not forget we could not see them at all on till now the laws have changed and gay pepole could have a wedding now but the days of our lives gay story that took place about coming out and being a father was really nice and that will and sonny the first gay wedding to happen and now brad and Lucas wedding and look at how fast the wedding was and the fact that will and sonny from days of our lives were together for three yours before they had their wedding. and look what will and sonny sad sonny sad I just witch to be like every body else and will sad could not have a wedding with out family it wood not be right at all and he also wanted to say we thank you for coming today and taking time out of your lives to come ok

Personally, I found the scene with Kristina talking to Lucas and Brad about what is like for them coming out gay a more poignant scene.

Hard to develop a story when they only cover it 1x every 3 weeks! If you are going to do a story like this then dive in (no pun) or don’t do it at all. It is very frustrsting @ GH when they write half-assed stories while other characters are seen almost daily; Sam/Jason/Liz overstayed its welcome! I would love to see this storyline front snd center or at least give It more airtime.

I applaud our GH writers for writing a story, one that doesnt get told everyday. I like how Kristina openly admits she is confused about how she feels and her younger sister is there to reason with her. I like how this story is being treated as a social issue where one could and does ask him or herself, am I gay or was it a passing faze? Often times the debate is, are we born gay or is it a lifestyle you adapt to. I dont know that answer. Some people who are gay know it VERY early on and only struggle to find a way to let the rest of the world know. Kristina dated boys before Parker but did she do that because that is the written “Rule” or has she changed her preference? I hope this story stays true and isnt turned into a joke. Sonny will not be mad, Alexis is a women who believes women make their own choices and do what is best for them! I agree, no one should be inspired by peer pressure! Sonny has bigger fish to fry in Morgan and Kristina’s issues are low in comparison.

Great post, Timmm. Your points do give the viewer pause….think about Kristina’s possible motives of not having come out sooner.
I tried touching upon it. But, you make so much more sense, Timmmy.

No way would I want to see Kristina written as bisexual—that will only send out the message to viewers that she doesn’t really know what she wants and that is unhealthy. If they make her out to be gay, that’s great. If they choose to go in another direction, I will be fine with that too but not exploring bisexuality. That one I wouldn’t buy.

Pardon the pun.

I don’t see why being bisexual or not or whatever a person is has anything to do with soap drama..
It is so commonplace that nobody is shocked by it..
The younger generation has no problems with any of it, it is of their world..
Older people my see a story about it as being sensational, but really much to do about nothing in this 21st century..

there are many urgent happenings in our world to take preference over someone’s sexual preference, that even bringing upfront is totally oldfashioned lame.

furthermore–
I liked the way RC portrayed Brad, Felix, Lucas as normal everyday guys living their lives having fun romping in bed or shower, watching the Golden Girls, having love problems, and simply living their lives as all of do.. No big hoopla made of made it.

So far, I find the story rather boring, but it is creating an interesting convo here

I agree to some point but in real life pepole do not talk about it much I do not no way there are pepole getting bulled and look how the laws have changed there are weddings for gay pepole now and their is a lot of topics we do not talk about that we should talk about but that we do not here about at all but it is good to see a gay story and now we should talk more about transgenders they’er now coming in to soaps and it was a good idea and we should talk more about beacuse it is a really nice change so you should have a look at other soaps not just general hospital OK

People don’t identify as bisexual because they “don’t know” or “can’t decide” what they want. Bisexuals aren’t indecisive, they’re attracted to both sexes!

Bisexuality isn’t “unhealthy”

Whatever the outcome of this story, Lexi has made me a believer in how well she is playing Kristina. I wasn’t overly impressed when she came back to PC, but she has risen to the occasion in this emotional role.

The whole story line is not going to work mainly because the actress is not capable of the acting chops it requires. I know a lot of people like Lexie, and I’m certain she’s a very nice person, but I have never been a fan of her as an actress capable of a meaty story line.

In just this episode and the one before it, she stepped on another actors lines 3 times ( if you’re paying attention you can tell because they were still finishing their sentence while she was already talking, so it was very noticeable and distracting), forgot her lines twice ( again, if you’re paying attention, she repeated herself back to back making no sense) and her fake crying went on for a bit before tears actually started so it just came across as immature whining.

Until she becomes a better actress, and not just a nice person, she’s never going to be able to sell the story line no matter how good or bad the writing is. I can’t become invested in a story if the acting is a distraction. Because the story line involves other heavy hitting actors, even Molly is doing a great job, it is even more noticeable that her skill is not up to par.

Oh, thank you, clh! I totally agree with your assertions…..I was one of those not at all enthused to see this actress back in the role of Kristina! In addition to her shortcomings in the drama department, I just don’t find her one bit likeable in the role….the character comes across as mean, nasty, self-absorbed and hostile, often almost evil. There is nothing admirable or endearing about her to create any sort of feeling of interest or empathy where her situation is concerned, unlike say, with the previous example set with the beloved Lucas. Personally, I just want this character to go away, and I don’t care if it is with man, woman, animal, vegetable or mineral. Just go now….please!

Yes, we discussed this before, Shaybelle.
We both agreed early on, you and I, the other actress was so much more affable. I loved ‘that’ Kristina.
Presently, this one has BRF. Her attitude gives off negative vibes; arrogant; snarling!!

The guilt trip Sonny laid on Kristina was laughable. I wanted Kristina to tell her father to get off his high horse and ask if “everything he’d done to make sure she went to a good school” included murdering AJ Quartermaine.

Do I hope Kristina is gay or straight? That she has a relationship with Professor Parker? Does it matter? The gay characters they already have barely get any airtime the way it is so unless Kristina hooks up with a lesbian mobster she ain’t get any more screentime than Lucas and Brad. As for GENERAL HOSPITAL touching on relevant topics — touching on topics is about all they do because then they have to get back to focusing on Saint Sonny and the mob.

I don’t trust this writing team to do this story any justice based on Thursday’s episode alone: Franco leaving Leo in a laundry cart and walking away to take a phone call was beyond ridiculous and how dumb do they think viewers are to believe that a printer would print each page of a magazine separately instead of in tabloid format for binding? I’m assuming CRIMSON is along the lines of VOGUE so its page count is probably around 100 pages without ads so if we assume each box contains 500 pages and the number of issues printed was 100,000 that means the printer would’ve had twenty thousand boxes of single pages and never once called to confirm something like that. Sure. And what about the issues for subscribers? We’re supposed to believe that the printer thought each page would be mailed out separately? The only thing missing from this mess was Carlos and Sabrina rushing back to Port Charles and collecting pages so they could start a college fund for baby Rivera…-

Kudos, Alan….well said.

Today’s breastfeeding scene was absolutely asinine.
Nina, Maxie, Carly, Alexis and Olivia all strip down to their bras tit flashing, really? that is more than lame.
It is also stupidly embarrassing for intelligent viewers to witness that tity display, sheesh
I’d bet we will never see the men flashing their dicks !! .

It wasn’t cute, not funny, not sexy, just embarrassingly stupid, sigh ..

It has to be one of the top five classless things I’ve ever witnessed on a soap!

hey Timmm..
I know!
what on earth is wrong with them/writers..
It was more than belittling to women, it was written for show, a titty flashing WTH!? gezz for stupid degrading stuff..

((trust me when I say– it was absolutely not even close to an RC ”WOW’ moment..

I am lost; having not a clue as to what in heck they were thing to write that lame stuff..

I hear you, Timmm, and considering all the tasteless things we endured during the Ron C. regime, that is saying SO much!

Way more cool and interesting and dramatic to have Monica dip in the ladypond. Meredith Baxter did and by the way she would be Excellent as Monica’s new galpal and I miss her on Y&R and still hoping she returns after nursing Kelly back to health. Perhaps part of the reason this story is so slow is the woman who plays the professor was given time off to have a baby and Valenti agreed??

Wow, Peggy……the fact that Kelly is alive did cross my mind. But, her mother taking care of her did not. I like the premise.

I would love it, and thought they opened the door when they said nobody on the ship died. Now that Phyllis and Billy and cozying up, Kelly couldn’t show up at a better time- although this all will delay until May sweeps I suppose. I am not buying Victor’s attorney determined to throw the case against him- I guess it is certainly feasible, I thought he was more principled and this makes him just another sleazy attorney so perhaps… Since Y&R is casting a female prison nurse I am guessing Victor is convicted and then he and the nurse carry on- and I do like that idea. It was nice to see Monica but her face appears so swollen and round I am guessing she and Bobby Spencer have the same dermatalogist?

I don’t see ABC as having a problem with gay stories or characters. Sam Champion, Robin Roberts, Modern Family, The Real O’Neals, they fired the Grey’s Anatomy actor for homophobic slurs- I think they are way ok with diversity and that is great. Now sink some more cash into the soap’s budget, return at least one more soap please, and we are good.

I would love that too, Peggy. No one on the ship died. Now, I remember. Jack also, does not have any memory of what happened. He just assumed he killed Kelly. Good one, Peggy.
I like all your observations.
Something really weird Phyllis said made me snicker. After macking out with Billy, hot and heavy, she said…” We need to stop, this is not us”. Really? That is exactly who they are!! Yuck!! As I said so many times before, I do not recognize this Phyllis, nor this Billy. Ahhhh, well !!
I, too, am glad to see more of Monica. I would have liked to see her more in scenes with Jason ( who, in my opiniom, has become Sam’s patsy), but, it is what it is. Sam says, “jump”, jason says, “how high”.
Lol, Peggy. I refrained from saying anything about Monica’s ‘transformation’. I do hope the swelling goes down. Alas, I think this is a permanent look. A few wrinkles add character and tell a life story.
Speaking of Bobby, where is she? With Luke? Lol.

The effects of carbonic snow on the faces of female residents of a certain age in Port Charles? Is this another Cassadine curse? Let me just say that I hate Shawn, the pregnant girl on Y&R and I do not understand budget concerns take actors off contract then two days later they announce a new actress coming on board. Paul on Y&R has no Cassadine facial freeze and his colorist is excellent.

@Peggy.
LOL.
I know this is a GH site….but, Shawn is there for a reason. She may be INTO Nick, or she’s after money. Whatever it is, she is the to break up Sage and Nick, somehow.
Pal looks good…has been wearing a hair piece/ transplant for years.
The GH ladies; Finola, Genie, Michelle, Nancy, Laura, Jane, Kathleen…..they all look beautiful, naturally.

Paul, not Pal….there, not the….
GH (I forgot Lisa and Carolyn…beautiful ladies).
Lisa is gorgeous ….

Kristina has been offscreen for three years. Nobody really knows what she has been doing ever since she left. There is plenty of room in that long time span for the writing team to make this a beleivable twist. A lot of girls in her age range tend to go through sexual fluidity and just cause you thought you only liked boys in your teens doesn’t always mean you will feel the same when you become an adult.

She could have been experimenting with her sexuality while she was away for these three years and finally felt something strong in her interaction with Parker. It would be coming out of nowhere if it was Carly, Liz, or Sam who were suddenly having romantic feelings for the opposite sex cause we’ve seen them every day for the last three years but again Kristina is still young and her onscreen history with boys is a small sample size and she’s been away long enough for a change to be realistic.

Kristina’s romantic history doesn’t amount to very much with the opposite sex and in two cases ended in tragic deaths so she’s never had a good healthy relationship like her sisters have had. Keifer didn’t just physically beat her up more than once but left her with some deep emotional scars in the way he spoke to her. Kristina had an obsessive crush on Ethan but he never returned the feelings so that was child’s play to me. Trey married Kristina under false pretenses and that was another unhealthy relationship/crush that was very short lived. She demanded that the marriage be annulled when she learned about his misdeeds. Joe Scully asked his son try to help him get revenge on Sonny by using Kristina so Trey ended that reality show and told her he wanted to be with her. Joe Scully even kidnapped her at some point when he realized his plan didn’t work out so more trauma for Kristina.

I really like this storyline and feel like the writing’s been good. Jean Passanante wrote two very popular and award winning gay storylines on AMC/ATWT so I have full confidence in her getting this right. They have got the right actress and the right character in this position with Kristina being a legacy character with tons of connections in town. It wouldn’t impact the canvas if it was some newbie with no ties in town.

The decision to make her bisexual/lesbian woman makes for great soapy drama and lots of angsty conflict and it’s something fresh and new. The remaining four soaps don’t have any gay female characters as it’s only been gay male characters. I don’t remember GH ever telling this type of story with a female so again it’s something we haven’t seen before. I am thrilled they brought Lexi back for this story and are giving her very meaty material to play out cause she’s got the acting chops to pull it off.

Jay,agree with you!All My Children broke that ground with BAM!I think it will be a good story. Two really good actors!

Love to see where the Kristina and Parker storyline goes. These two could be another super couple of daytime, but might need to change to an older actress for Kristina. Lexi Ainsworth seems way too young for the professor. Where are the Otalia fans? Tired of only seeing the male gay storylines.

they should have fired the teacher or brought kristina mom and dad and told them what was going on not send a email throw the computer I think. but in real life it is been shown that teachers and school kids are like friends they are easy to talk to and say what is on your mined and when something bad happend you could till them it is just the age is not right but if they do bring Parker back I would not mined at all bye sabera

You writers are obviously not aware of this, but many of us would simply like to be able to watch a tv show and enjoy love relationships as they were naturally intended to be. Why do you think we want to see men kissing men, women kissing women. There are many people who feel that a person has the right to live as he chooses – however – that doesn’t mean that it has to continually be blast into our faces or into our homes. Come on- give me a break!

I might be in the minority but I thought two people in love was the way “love relationships were naturally intended to be.” I’m a gay man who has known he was gay since his teens so that is natural to me — Your argument that the GH gay relationships are “continually blasted into our faces” doesn’t really hold much water: Lucas and Brad are rarely on together and are basically celibate at this point and the current Kristina/Parker “story” has barely been featured until the past week.

I can’t speak for other viewers but as far as I am concerned I would much rather see stories about love regardless of gender than witness more mob violence and shootings.

No I hope she isn’t gay!!!!!!

I think molly should have stayed out of it and let Kristina do it her self I do not think it was molly place to say anything at all. I do like molly tj together she still should have stayed out of it and let Kristina dell with it her self I no molly was trying to help but if they do not want your help stay out of it and when they are ready thay will come to you I no she was doing the sister thing and then to have molly be told to stay out of it from her mom and uncle sonny witch was nice but I think it was a little much but I think they wear trying to get the point a cross that when you tall a lie it comes back to bit you witch it did and a lie gets you no wear at all but it is not nice when you have a mob boss as a dad anything could happen and look what happened when you do not tall the hole truth to your mom and dad and I hope when and if she comes out that she go’s to Sam first and her mom and dad not molly beacuse of the way she was pushing her was not nice but if she do’s that it is OK too but if she is Bisexual it wood be great for the soap would it dos not have one at all I do not think I been watching soaps for a long time they are great to watch when I am home and now that I can get it on my computer I am really happy so I do not miss anything at all so bye for now

I think it was in very poor taste to have her in an affair with her PROFESSOR….NO THAT WAS NOT OK

General Hospital

(INTERVIEW) Adam Huss Talks on His Latest GH Return, Maura West, Nicholas Chavez, and Being a Swiftie

This week, General Hospital fans were in for a surprise appearance when Adam Huss reappeared as Nikolas Cassadine while serving jail time in Pentonville. He also had a very intriguing visitor, his ex, Ava Jerome (Maura West)!

In the key scenes, Ava seemingly tells Nikolas, who can do nothing about the situation, how she is getting closer to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and within his inner-sanctum, much to Nikolas’ chagrin. For Huss, those scenes were difficult to shoot, because in real-life he has just lost his beloved grandmother, but he soldiered through and delivered an effective performance.

Adam has had quite the adventure as GH’s dark prince of the Cassadine clan. Having first subbed for former Nikolas, Marcus Coloma, a few times and over a few years time, then taking over the role and being instrumental in moving story forward, but yet not always physically on the canvas. Since taking over the role, Huss has put his own spin on Nikolas, while delivering some top-notch performances. Look no further than in scenes with the exited Nicholas Chavez (Spencer), the aforementioned West, GH icon Genie Francis (Laura), or the twins that the play Baby Ace (Joey Clay, who shares the role with twin brother Jay) to name but a few.

Michael Fairman TV chatted with Adam to get his thoughts on: Nikolas’ emotional state now, where he thinks the storyline may head in the future, his co-stars, reflecting on what the late Tyler Christopher (ex-Nikolas) brought to the role, and yes, some banter with us about Taylor Swift!  Check out what Adam had to say below.

Nikolas is kind of the gift that keeps on giving, as you keep popping back up on GH. Just when you think the show literally has written him off, he makes a return. Look no further than on Monday’s April 29th episode when he gets a visit from Ava while in prison.

ADAM: Listen, I’ve really fallen in love with playing the character. I’ve stated that I’m super passionate about it. I really like that the more I delve into his backstory, I learn about the layers of who he is. Watching Tyler Christopher’s (ex-Nikolas) work, because he really originated that character, I become even more enthusiastic about it. I have so much respect for this medium as it is. I’m a fan of TV and film. I am coming in to the story sometimes not knowing where Nikolas may be mentally. So, it’s been nice to be guided once you’re on set. You can’t come in with just your ideas and you have to be open to the collaboration. It’s been a challenge, but a lot of fun.

In the scenes that just aired opposite Maura West, it seemed you could tell that Nikolas still cared for Ava.

ADAM: I thought that was a happy surprise. I am so fond of Maura as a person. I could say that we’ve mutually grown closer each time I come in and play the part. I don’t think Ava knew what she was going to really get when she came to see Nikolas. When he saw her, I think he was just taken with her. It was interesting. There was one moment when she’s talking about Sonny. I felt as if Nikolas didn’t want to hear this, but I was advised by our director, Allison Reames Smith and Frank Valentini (EP, GH), “Remember, Nikolas hasn’t seen her in months and this is really exciting for him to be sitting across from her. ” So that really fed the motivation.

Nikolas gets an earful from Ava, and he is left with her secret, which is the dose of medication in Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) pills are causing him to act erratic. Ava kind of admitted to Nikolas what was going on and what she was planning.

ADAM: She did, and you’re right. I think she told him because it was safe, and in her mind he’s not going anywhere.

However, Nikolas isn’t always on the up and up, either.

ADAM:  No, and he’ll do whatever it takes to get what he wants. This is all speculation, but maybe to get her away from Sonny he uses the information she shared. I think Nikolas is thinking that he doesn’t want to see her get hurt, and, “I cannot lose another person right now. I lost my newborn son,” in that, he is not going to raise him. And even bigger, he lost his son Spencer who he believes is gone. So, imagine then losing the love of his life. Their last interactions around New Year’s Eve showed that he still had feelings for her.

So, when you first met Maura, what was your reaction to this daytime dynamo?

ADAM: From day one, she was so lovely to me. I tested with her. I got to know her in that moment. She was just so welcoming and wanted me to succeed. Then, when I did fill in for Marcus Coloma, the first time, she and Ken Shriner (Scott) were super lovely. It was like, “You’re my scene partner today. You are Nikolas today. Let’s have fun.” Each time I came in to work, I got the same thing, if not more – more trust, more openness and kindness. Then, as you’re aware, my grandma passed right before these most recent scenes. Maura was so lovely about it. We were running lines, but she just wanted to stop and talk about it for a second. I almost didn’t want to come to work. I just wanted to get home. Maura really got me focused. It was something you wanted to get off your chest with somebody. Then we filmed, and she called me after, and just made sure I was doing alright. I said to Maura, “You are a class act, you know that. Thank you so much.”  I am so glad I didn’t have to miss the funeral and I still got to film at General Hospital, which my grandma loved to watch me on.

Now. did you have any context when you started that your on-screen mother was Genie Francis (Laura)?

ADAM: I did. In the nineties, when I was on Long Island in college and working as a DJ in the summers, I just remember seeing soap opera magazine covers. I’d see that triangle between Nikolas, Lucky and Elizabeth. So, I very much knew of the world that those people were part of. I knew how big the Luke (Tony Geary) and Laura wedding was and all of that. I definitely knew the legacy I was coming into. When I read these sides for the role, I was like, “I think this is Nikolas Cassadine!” Later, when I was on the show, and doing scenes with Genie, where Laura was warning Nikolas about making up with Spencer, she said, “You’re doing wonderful work.” To hear that from her was a big sigh of relief for me. I love connecting with actors in the eyes. I know when things are cooking when you almost feel like magnets in your eyes with another actor, because you’re drawing that emotion through them. The eyes are the windows of the soul, right? I felt that with Genie, Maura and Nicholas Chavez, too. You feel that magnet pull and it’s so beautiful.

I’m going over your gut-wrenching scenes in my head. There was obviously when Spencer hands baby Ace  to Nikolas, and then the baby is so taken with you, and the scenes where Spencer tells Nikolas how much he loved him as a young boy and vice-versa.

ADAM: The three scenes you just mentioned are highlights for me in shooting the show thus far. Those moments felt so authentic to me. As soon as Spencer got Ace in my arms, I just would melt, and it made me emotional just to hold him. And then, he really took to me. His mom was like,”I think you kind of remind him of his father,” because there is a similar energy. He’s just a great little actor and a great little empath. The moment with him laying his head on my chest was so emotional. In the one scene with Nicholas Chavez, he’s supposed to not hand me Ace till the end, but as soon as we started the scene, the baby reached out to me with this smile. Nick is like, “OK, here you go.” We sort of had to improv around it a little bit, but it was amazing.

However, then there is the scene where Spencer cries about how Nikolas meant everything to him, too.

ADAM: I think Nikolas went to Spencer with the intention of like, “I’m taking this baby no matter what. And if I have to get through my son, I’m going, too.” There was so much power in the words that those writers chose especially when Spencer goes, “You were my whole world” as a child. Nikolas was saying how I loved him fiercely as a kid. I was watching a lot of those scenes between Nicolas Bechtel (ex-Spencer) and Tyler Christopher. That kid was such a dynamo, too, and he was so cute. Their bond stuck with me.

You are one busy actor. I check in on your Instagram and you are either in one town or the other shooting a horror film or other projects.

ADAM: Not just horror films, there’s a mix of Hallmark, too. I’m super excited about an indie film I did called Pieces of Lilo. It’s about an estranged father and son. In it, my father gets sick and I get stuck basically taking care of him. And then he passes and when I’m burying him, all these memories start flooding back. It’s this sort of flashback of basically trauma and how this trauma affected, my character, Jerry, in the present day. I fought for this part and I got it. We just wrapped in March. I’m excited about that. Next week, I am off to Long Island to do a rom-com called The Wedding Bell.

Don’t you also have a role in an upcoming Melrose Place-type streaming soap?

ADAM: Oh yes. I wish it was the Melrose Place reboot! I did work with Daphne Zuniga on a Lifetime movie, though. She was awesome, and we’re friends, so who knows? It’s called The BLVD and I’ve taped it already. There’s supposedly five more episodes they’re going to shoot soon. So, we finished the pilot and I play one of the one of the clients of the PR firm. It’s all about  cutthroat PR in Hollywood.

I know the fans really enjoy you in the part of Nikolas. However, the worst thing in soaps, I think, for any actor is having to replace a very well-known actor in a part; whether they’re good, bad, or indifferent. People just don’t like change. As a recast, you have to kind of go through that difficult part of waiting to be accepted by the audience. They often say how they don’t like the actor and then somewhere along the way, they are like “Oh! I love him in the part.” How has it been for you to ride that wave of, you’re not Tyler Christopher, you’re not Marcus Coloma, but now it’s you playing Nikolas?

ADAM: I get it. You want your original person to be the person, and sometimes they just can’t, and in soap operas, it’s more common. I also know it’s always polarizing. There were days in the beginning where I was like, “Oh, my God! Look at all these wonderful comments.”  Then it’s, “Oh, my God.” and as you’re scrolling, you see “I’m a hideous monster” to these people. I think you just have to have a very healthy perspective. Thankfully, I do have tools in my life to secure my foundation of who I am. And sure, on those vulnerable days or those ambiguous days where you don’t know your future at work, it could weigh on you. You could think of every, “Oh, my God! Everybody hates me.” I am so glad and grateful that people have come around. You’re not going to please everybody. It’s just the nature of what we live in now. I will say, the warm embrace and the acceptance, and people who have really come around, has moved me and then they’re feeling the same way about my performances. When I say I’m humbled by it, I’m blown away, it’s true.  I used to get annoyed at Taylor Swift when she would always say that. I’m like, “All right, honey, you’re selling millions of copies. Accept it.” But it is humbling, because you know how critical people can be, and for it to really start to change overtime, helps me every time I hear it.

Photo: DisneyPlus

Speaking of Taylor Swift, are you a Swiftie?

ADAM: I am a Swiftie, sure. I didn’t go to Taylor’s concert. I wanted to. But then, when my friend showed me The Eras Tour on Disney Plus, I was like, “That was amazing. That was like the best time.” I’d have a smile on my face for three and a half hours if I was at her concert. So, yes.

Did you listen to Taylor’s new album, Tortured Poets Department yet?

ADAM: Yes. I’ve been bouncing around in there. There are a lot of songs.

It’s a lot of songs. It took me a little bit to warm up to it. And now, just like in true Taylor Swift fashion, I’m like, “You know what? This track or that track is really good.”

ADAM: Yeah, at first they all sound the same for a minute.

So I wonder, how does Taylor Swift manage to suck us in all the time?

ADAM: I know. I think it works whenever someone’s just raw and honest. Taylor gets a lot of flak for talking about her exes and stuff in her songs, but that’s her life experience. We feel that and we resonate with that, especially younger girls, or anyone really, can relate to these like breakups and this heartache. I think that’s where she gets you.

Courtesy/ABC

Hopefully soon, it’d be nice to see Nikolas not in prison orange. So, he gets out of jail and where does he go then?

ADAM: I don’t want him on the run because that’s the whole reason he came to prison, you know, to reform himself. So, for me, that was a nice sign of like, “Hey, maybe the reformation comes and you finally get to be free.” Maybe Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) gets her law degree back and then she’ll help him get out. Wyndemere’s gone. It’s out of his hands. I think it’s a good time for him to start a different life and for us to see Nikolas in different stories. Let’s see a different person trying to put his family back together and falling in love again. If it’s Ava, wonderful, would love that. I’d love to see a really great, big epic love story like he had in the past. I try to infuse that when Nikolas is sitting across from Ava. The last thing I want to say is, I wish I was there at GH more, too. However, I really trust in the process and the writers, and the way things unfold. So, I’m hoping that it all leads to a beautiful place.

What did you think about the scenes this week on GH between Ava and Nikolas? Do you hope Adam Huss is back on-screen sooner than later? What are some of your favorite scenes with him thus far? Comment below, but ICYMI, below are the touching scenes between Spencer, Ace and Nikolas that GH fans are still buzzing about.

Nicholas Chavez Confirms Exit From General Hospital

On Friday May 3rd, it was confirmed by Nicholas Chavez that he has indeed left his role as Spencer Cassadine on General Hospital.

Taking to his account on X, Chavez shared some heartfelt goodbyes to the cast, the creatives and the fans of the ABC daytime drama series. This comes after months of speculation and reports that Chavez is not returning to his Daytime Emmy-winning role.

Chavez left the soap to go film his leading role in Ryan Murphy’s Netflix limited series, Monsters: The The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, and in story on GH, Spencer went overboard on a boat, when he was drugged by Esme (Avery Pohl) on the Seine River in France. His body and Esme’s thus far have never been found.

Photo: ABC

In his heartfelt message on X, Nicholas expressed, “I’m so appreciative of the opportunity that GH gave me, and I wouldn’t be as busy as I am professionally if it weren’t for the talented producers, writers, directors and fellow actors. Frank Valentini is a mentor and a friend, and we’ve had some pretty extensive conversations about my future on the show.”

Photo: ABC

Sharing his thoughts on if the would ever come back to GH, Chavez added, “While there are no current plans for me to return, we are still talking very openly about future possibilities for Spencer in Port Charles.”

Finally, Nicholas shared,”Beyond the people I’ve already mentioned, I want to take some time to thank and honor the GH fan base… especially the Sprina fans… who must be THE most loyal and kind fan base in the universe of entertainment. Words fail to show the depth of my gratitude, thank you, I love you all very, very much.”

Nicholas took over the role of Spencer previously played by Nicolas Bechtel, in July of 2021, and his last episode aired on January 31st, 2024.  In April, reports surfaced that the actor was not returning to GH after all.

Richard Simmons Recalls His Time On General Hospital and Meeting Tony Geary, Genie Francis, Rick Springfield and More

Fitness Guru, Richard Simmons has been recently sharing many stories about his time in Hollywood and his career on his X account as he reflects on his life and prepares his biopic.

In a string of posts, containing moments from his time on General Hospital, and meeting many of who would be his co-stars in Port Charles, Simmons opened up about how he landed on the soap in its hey day.

Simmons began by explaining that after an appearing on an ABC local morning show with Regis Philbin, he got a call two days later about GH, and things took off from there.

Photo: JPI

Richard expressed, “I met with the most powerful woman in daytime television. Gloria Monty. I also met with the head writer Pat Falken Smith. These ladies were very smart. They told me their idea. I would teach exercise classes in a disco for all the ladies on the show.” He added, “A week before taping the show the studio asked me if I could drive over and do some promotional photos. In my car I brought with me six jogging suits….My make up…some towels and five pound weights. I still could not believe I was going to be on a soap. lol.”

When he got to GH’s studio, Simmons shared, “The first person that I met was Genie Francis (Laura). Her father was Ivor Francis an actor who had been on Broadway and many TV shows. Genie was so young and innocent looking. I clicked immediately with her.

Photo: ABC

“The second person I was introduced to was Anthony Geary (Luke),” recalled Richard. “Some people called him Tony. ..but I did not. He was an actor’s actor. Mr G had curly hair like me. When he was not acting he was sitting in his dressing room learning all of his lines.  His door was always closed. One day when it was open. I asked if I could come in and sit and talk. This man won 8 daytime Emmys for playing Luke.”

“Now what can I say about Jane Elliot (Tracy)? She had an aristocratic face,” says Simmons. “One moment her character was very nice then she was the queen of mean. She allowed me to come into her room and chat while she was putting on makeup.”

Photo: JPI

Then, Richard recalled the late, great Stuart Damon (ex-Alan) and Jackie Zeman (ex-Bobbie). “I then met Prince Charming. Stuart Damon. He had been in a lot of TV shows and played Prince Charming on a special about Cinderella. Jackie Zeman was so cute. She had a pixie face.”

Simmons recalled when Rick Springfield joined the cast as Noah Drake, sharing, “While he was on the show his father passed away in Australia. I went to the news stand and bought him a bunch of magazines to read on the plane. How many times have you sung Jessie’s Girl and Don’t Talk to Strangers? When he came back from Australia he resumed his role.”

Noting his humble beginnings on GH running the aerobic classes at the Campus Disco, Richard recalled, “My first scene was in Luke’s Disco. All the nurses and other actresses were there dancing with me. I had never memorized lines before. So much was going on in my head. At the end of my scene, I heard the sound of heels clicking on the floor and everyone froze. It was Ms Monty and she was talking to me. ‘Richard the television is this big . You are talking like you are on a screen in a movie theater…bring your voice down.’ So I did.”

What do you think about the sentiments shared by Richard Simmons on his reflections on his time on General Hospital? Check out this OG GH scene with Richard leading the exercise class at the Campus Disco with some beloved Port Charles notables. Then, comment below.
