ABC issued their official press releases for tune-in for their top daytime and primetime shows during the key November Sweeps ratings period!  Here is what the alphabet network had to say about what is to come in Port Charles!

“November is about family on ABC’s General Hospital, with family secrets that will change what everyone thought to be true, and includes a bittersweet goodbye. The Quartermaine, Scorpio and Corinthos families are shocked as loved ones return in body and in spirit. The truth is revealed about the mysterious Duke Lavery, while Patrick tries to move on with his life. The Quartermaines’ Thanksgiving tradition continues as they give thanks for all that is involved in being a family – the good, the bad and everything in between…the circle of life. The November storylines coincide with the surprising return of fan favorite Sean Kanan. General Hospital airs Monday through Friday (2:00-3:00 p.m., ET).”

So soapers, what are you most excited to see come November on GH? Let us know!

The return of Sean Kanan is no secret. There is no talk in the release about a farewell to Edward Quartermaine/John Ingle.

Is it me or doesn’t the press release state a “bittersweet goodbye”?

It mentions “a bittersweet goodbye” which is obviously the farewell to Edward.

So of course you will bring Ryan Lavery from All My Children in to meet his “Uncle”? Cameron Mathison would be a shoe in.

Oh dear God I hope not. Of all the characters they could bring on Ryan Lavery is at the bottom of my list. Sorry. Now David Hayward I could get into.

I so agree! Ryan Lavery is not even ON my list. The show isn’t big enough for him. 🙂 Half the cast would have to go, to make room for RYAN. I pray that thought will never enter their minds. His arrival just might ruin the show for good.

The only way I would want to see Ryass Lavery on General Hospital would be pieces, as an organ donor. Not that anyone would want his brain – unless some zombie-snacking was in order.

There has never been a worse, show-eating character anywhere, and that’s saying something when you think of Sonny Corinthos, Jason Morgan, Phyllis Newman, or Victor Newman. Lavery is still the King of the Douche.

LOL! ITA!

This show is so good, that I think Gloria Monty must be smiling down from heaven. The writing is amazing and the actors bring it all to life so wonderfully. It is quite literally the Best show on Daytime.

I respectfully disagree wholeheartedly. Gloria Monty ran a show where the bad guys paid for their crimes, and were not the reigning heroes of the show. Under her watch, villains and murderers were not made into the misunderstood good guys. The moral compass of GH has been missing since Claire Labine left the building. How I long for the heart and humanity she wrote the show with!!

So basically what you are saying is the mob members should all get what they have coming to them. Given the Mob is basically seen as being the bad guys. So Jason deserved to die, as did Joe Jr, and likewise Sonny and Duke as well.

I don’t really care how they leave the show…as long as they do. They could ride off on the back of a coffee truck with a mariachi band, they could fall off the docks, they could go in a yellow Submarine for all I care. For all of us fans who have waited for the REAL GH to come back, I would say we have been more than patient. It has been SIXTEEN long, agonizing, shoot-out filled, bullet riddled, blood drenched misogynistic years of the Sonny and Jason Show. Those of you who have liked or enjoyed that….I say youve had it for more than long enough. Now it’s time to move on, and restore the show before its 50th anniversary and hopefully well beyond!

I hope to see more Liz she is my fav… & if I don’t see her then I don’t watch!!! I hope something good 4 her to come…

I watch, but I agree…I want more Liz! I want a strong story line for her, and a strong man in her life now that Jason and Lucky are gone!

You don’t see the lying slut and then you don’t watch. Who cares. Obviously you are not a soap fan.

Lying sluts are a soap staple. I like Liz a lot. Is she perfect? No, but that’s why I watch. Do I watch when she’s not on? Of course. Not one character does a show make. Heaven forbid we go back to the days of 3 characters as a constant presence on our screens. I hope Liz finds herself a good man.

The return of A J and maybe Jason and Robin.

Jason recast!!!

please recast for character Jason and I agree with M.B. here!!!!

Robin’s return just in time for Thanksgiving would be so awesome!!! I miss her and Patrick being together!!! I already miss Jason too even though I know he won’t be back for a little while I hope sooner than later…Another Thanksgiving blessing would be some great news and or happiness for LuLu & Dante as well as for Ms. Elizabeth!!! You all are doing an awesome job keep up the great work with the other story lines!!!

I agree with you,Ta’she.. I miss Jason when I watched him and vanished once more time after that I’ve tears from my eyes when Steve Burton left there. that reminded me miss my real life dad gone in 2005 🙁

Please let Alan come back before Edward’s funeral.

Alan is sure to make an appearance “in spirit” for Edward’s funeral. (I hope!)

But if they want ratings: Bring Trevor St. John on as Victor!!

Agree on both counts!

I agree please bring Trevor St John as Victor to GH. That handsome man is so missed on my screen that it is painful sometime not seeing him as Todd. I have accepted that Roger’s version of Todd is who the TPTB wanted. But I myself loved Trevor and accepted him as Todd and was grateful for the years of entertainment he gave as an actor in his role of Todd. What I loved the most was he did not play him as a cartoon character that I personally see Todd as today.

oh my god momma gloria must be smiling from heaven, g.h. rocks bring back laura , lucky and ethen, nick. spencer baby jake. thank you ron, frank and annie for saving our soap.

The show is fantastic, the writing is suberb. I like that Jason’s body was not found so that is being left open; either for recast or Steve to return at a later date. Something needs to be adcded about John Ingles passing; a Memorial written in or something. To just go on without saying or doing something out of respect and honor for his part in GH is not right at all! And please no pairing of Sam and John. OMGosh no way. His place and heart should stay with Natalie and their child. Get rid of Duke Lavery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Debbie,

We all have to remember that these are human beings behind the writers/characters, and they had to go through their own grief process when John died. I’m not sure what GH’s write-to-tape ratio is, but I’d be willing to bet that it’s already been taped-and when we DO see it, it will be something that does John/Edward proud…

The return of Kimberly McCallaugh ( Robin)

That would be awesome the return of robin ….
That’s a nice thanksgiving to be thankful for …….

so back when Luke ran over little Jake it was hinted that all was not as it seemed … since i believe AJ is the force behind all the Duke and Jerry evil … i wonder if AJ is behind that too .. he never forgave Jason for taking Michael away …

those are good points to ponder !

Don’t know why ABC and GH think fans are happy with the return of Sean Kanan. I AM NOT

I have to agree. I never liked his character

Omg !!!in not happy either imagine he comes back as jason …..I totally agree with you …

karen i agree who cares about the return of sean kanan

he or no one could ever replace steve burton as jason

i say to ABC GET RID OF DUKE LAVERY ASAP!!! the sooner the better
he is stiff, boring, creepy and he killed off one of a favorites jason or did he?
no matter he needs to go i say go no and do not return

Is there any chance Elizabeth, Patrick or Maxie will have a story for November?

hope so. I love all 3.

There are only two Quartermaines left, how can they do Thanksgiving??

There are three left after Edward’s passing– Monica, Tracy and Michael. Plus, one more wee one will be revealed, and another one is returning (AJ). Also, Ned may not be on the show–at least not YET–but he is a Q too (Brooklyn also, but I am not so sure we’ll see her), as is Skye, via adoption. And perhaps, the ghost of another?
–based on what I read at generalhospitalhappenings

I’m just thrilled Monica & Tracy are finally getting some airtime and storylines! Love those two no matter who they share scenes with, but especially when they share scenes together. The Quartermaines are GH and it sounfs like we’ll be treated to more Q time.

I am most excited to see Quartermaine family and friends return for appearances on GH – probably for “Edward Q” played by the late “John Ingle’s” funeral. It will be a very sad episode or episodes, since John Ingle just passed away recently, but we know he is at peace in Heaven with his real beautiful wife. We should see Skye, Ned, AJ and dear Alan in “spirit”!!!!! Perhaps even Brooklyn will make an appearance, her mother Lois – and some other actors who are related to Mr. Q by marriage. Should be a very exciting, although somewhat sad, time for Port Charles.

They will probably have two funerals for Edward and Jason ….
Meanwhile monica makes a call someone comes back I think its AJ UNLESS THEY RECAST HIM AS JASON ….TIME WILL TELL ….WAIT AND SEE …

So far Jason is presumed dead but I think he is still alive. The Q’s may have a memorial service for Jason since they have not found his body. A J comes back as himself – as we now know – and wants to get to know his son – Michael better. If they decide to recast Jason, I wonder who it will be. Steve Burton plans to come back to Pt Charles on some occasions – the future of Jason and GH should prove to be very interesting!!!!!!

I certainly would not mind a Jason recast. Hopefully with someone who has chemistry with Kelly because despite the love scenes that had some fans in raptures over, Steve and Kelly were a big dud. Character-wise, Jason had lots more chemistry with Brenda than with Sam.

I will be glad to see the end/back of Duke Lavery. He is creepy and totally lacking in credibility. I am really surprised Luke isn’t already using his contacts in Europe to find out about Duke’s activities in recent years.

I am not looking forward to a return of Jerry Jax, especially as a bad boy love interest for Alexis who deserves better than Jerry. I’d much prefer to see Ned come back and sweep her off her feet. Or how about a return visit from Rick. Recast that role with someone delicious and see what happens. Too bad they used Richard Steinmetz as Joe Jr. because he would have been a credible recast of Rick. I hate it that RS is off the show. He had incredibly hot chemistry with Tracy/Jane.

OK. When is Lucy Coe coming to town to take over Crimson?

Do we really have to revisit the Franco crap? That was the most awful character ever conceived for the show. I can’t even bear to watch the actor any more because of that repulsive degenerate character.

I will be glad to see that back of NuKristina. If we are getting a Starr-Trey pairing I can buy into that because there is chemistry there.

How soon will Connie be put in a straight jacket? Maybe she can share a room with Heather.

Duke is a douche I think the writers waiting to see ratings then they will see if he stays ….I don’t like duke @ all.
I don’t think dam willl have Chemistry with Sean (AJ) as jason …she has more Chemistry with John then anyone .they were together on port Charles ….
they have insane chemistry ….LOL LOL LMFAO ABOUT STRAIGHT JACKET YOU ARE FUNNY ….RIGHT ABOUT STARR AND TREY I AGREE …..

I hope both Robin and Jason come back. I really miss Robin and Patrick together.Jason needs to come back and be with sam and his son and fight off AJ

Jason is alive in Europe getting the dirt on Duke Lavery. He will come back and save the day. Sam will discover hes alive & help him

How can Jason be alive? He was dead long before he got shot at the docks. I swear I haven’t seen that man act “alive” in years.

And Jason has Duke beat for murders and all along bad guy behavior. And at least Duke doesn’t wear the same teeshirt and jeans for years on end. PEEE UUUU…..

there was a scene between Tracy & Luke where they said noone ever dies in Port Charles.Jason is too important a character to kill off. These writers are not stupid

Glad they’ll have something for John Ingle’s passing. I’m sure there will be lots of flashbacks and people coming back (in reality or spiritually) for it which will be nice. Also happy about the Q Thanksgiving tradition. It’s nice to see some things come back. Not sure I really care about SK, aka AJ, coming back AGAIN, but it is what it is and we’ll just have to see who knew he was alive and what he’s been up to. I certainly hope there is LESS Sam now. I’m sick and tired of her, eventhough I do like her with McBain. Actually, I’m sick of all the Davis girls. I’m also glad Jason fell into the harbor. Hopefully IF he comes back/is found alive, he’ll actually have his brain back and maybe even Jake with him. I’m certain Robin won’t be back until Patrick has finally moved on or gotten comfortable with dating – it is a soap after all. I want Elizabeth to have a good story possibly with her father coming to town. Luke can leave town and stay gone with Lucky. Duke can have Anna because I always loved them together but this time she can stay police commissioner and have to deal with her love for him and his being the real mob boss. You know – good girl, bad boy – classic love story for soaps! Loved Anna-Duke; Loved Liz-Jason. Tha’s what I’d like – you asked. LOL

bring back Jason!! Or replace him. General hospital is not the same without him!!!! I’m going to stop watching unless you bring him back.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

Patrick J. Gibbons

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.

However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.

Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG

Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!

Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”

MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL

Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).

Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY

Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”

It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”

A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

Photo: PGibbons

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS

As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”

He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”

Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.

So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Published

on

By

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.

Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.

Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

Chad Duell

WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON

Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”

Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Courtesy/ABC

Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”

When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

MEMORABLE MICHAEL STORYLINES

One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”

“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good.  I was working with Dominic  Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.

A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?

As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”

Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.

You can check out the full conversation with Chad Duell below.

Now let us know: what show would you like to see Chad cast on down the line? BTG, DAYS, B&B, Y&R, or a new role on GH? What did you think of his thoughts on the casting switch while he was away in the role of Michael? What was your favorite Michael storyline during Chad’s 15-year run on the ABC soap opera? GENERAL HOSPITAL: Ric’s History of Jealousy Where Elizabeth is Concerned Has Come Back Around

Published

on

By

Ric

On General Hospital, Ric Lansing (Rick Heart) is about to fall back into dangerous old patterns by the foreshadowing during the Wednesday, August 19 episode. After first coming to see his brother, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and telling him of his plan to propose to Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) his longtime love tonight, Sonny has concerned.

Next, Sonny reminds his brother of what has happened in the past, when things have gone south with Elizabeth and wonders if it’s too soon for him to propose to her. What Ric did not tell Sonny is that he has seen the developing closeness between Sonny’s son, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Elizabeth, which is propelling his urgent need to propose.

Meanwhile, Dante ran into Elizabeth at the park during a break from their mutual team softball games. She needs help with a bookcase after the game at her house. Dante wants to put it together for her. Later, Dante arrived at Elizabeth’s house, limping after injuring his knee during the game. Head nurse Liz wanted to check out the injury as much as Dante protested, which required him to take off his pants.

RIC BEGINS TO UNRAVEL

Outside Elizabeth’s widow, Ric arrives with a bouquet of roses and the engagement ring. When he leers through the widow he is shocked to see Elizabeth rubbing Dante’s leg while Dante is in his boxer/shorts. He storm troops into the house, demanding to know what is going on here? Both Elizabeth and Dante look surprised by his reaction. In the pick-up of today’s Thursday, August 20 episode (see GH video teaser below), viewers will learn the upshot for all three characters.

A VENGEFUL PAST

As longtime GH fans know, Ric has done some horrible, vengeful things in regards to Elizabeth starting back in 2003 after she lost her baby after Ric’s ex, Faith Rosco pushed her down a flight of stairs. Ric accused Sonny for the accident and to get revenge, Ric kidnapped Carly (who was married to Sonny at the time), and stashed her in a panic room below the house where he was living with Liz.

On top of that, Ric fed his wife Elizabeth birth control pills to keep her from getting pregnant so that they could raise Carly’s baby together after it was born. Eventually, Elizabeth found Carly in the panic room but ended up having a pulmonary embolism. When she woke up in the hospital, Elizabeth was all confused by what happened, and Ric convinced her that her vision of  Carly was just a bad dream. Eventually, Elizabeth learned the horrifying truth and divorced Ric.

Years later, Ric noticed the connection between Elizabeth and “Jake Doe” who eventually turned out to be Drew (Billy Miller) A jealous Ric hired Hayden Barnes to show up and claim to be “Jake’s” wife. Elizabeth stepped aside, and when Ric planned to propose to Elizabeth at the 2015 Nurses Ball, Carly exposed his manipulations, and Elizabeth dumped him yet again. And those are just two examples of the lengths Ric will go to for Elizabeth!

So, we ask you, given the history of Elizabeth and Ric, how do you see this playing out with Dante in the picture? How will Ric derail their growing bond? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
