Melissa Archer Shares Her Thoughts On Not Being Asked To Join The Cast Of GH Thus Far!

One of the biggest questions raised all the time by One Life to Live and General Hospital fans is, where is Natalie? After all, John (Michael Easton) and Natalie, and their son Liam, had just gotten together on OLTL when the series went off the air. Next, John came over to Port Charles to work on some cases and originally to get revenge on Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). While all of that was going down, John became close and attracted to Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), and from there the story continued. Now with Natalie and John on the outs, and Jason presumed “dead”, that could pave the way for a John/Sam pairing, that could then spark a fiery red head to come to town, if the powers-that-be decide to finally bring fan favorite, Melissa Archer (Natalie) to General Hospital!
Melissa Archer spoke to Soap Opera Digest in their latest issue on newsstands now about life post-Llanview, and how she initially felt not being chosen to head over to General Hospital with her long-time co-star Michael Easton, and if she would still consider coming on to the now lone ABC soap, should they come a-calling. Here are some excerpts!
Archer had this to say on why she has not been approached to join Easton and some of her former cast mates now at General Hospital citing: “I thought it was neat and made a lot of sense for the specific characters they chose to take over there to drive story. I’m not one to get offended easily over storylines and jobs; it’s about the overall good of the project. Whatever they’re doing now seems to be working and that’s awesome because that’s what the genre needs. They’re not going to bring me on just to say, “Hey, we brought Natalie on!” It wouldn’t make any sense. They have to take care of other things first. They have to utilize what they have. Michael and Kelly Monaco had amazing chemistry on Port Charles, so why not try to utilize that and go with that? If you had it once, you’re gonna have it again.”
As far as if GH should come calling to bring Natalie finally to the canvas, Archer is cautiously optimistic stating: “And you never know what the future brings. It could be a year from now and you’ll find out Natalie coming in to shake things up. I love Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital) and all the actors there, so I am always welcome to talking about things. I have faith in the people running the show that they know what they’re doing. I’m not one to close the door on anything.”

REPORT: Nicholas Chavez Not Returning to General Hospital
For those who were holding out hope that Daytime Emmy winner and fan favorite, Nicholas Chavez would be returning to General Hospital after filming his leading role in Ryan Murphy’s Monsters anthology, it looks like those hopes have been dashed.
According to a report from TV Line, although unconfirmed from General Hospital or a representative for Chavez, the actor will not reprise his role as Spencer Cassadine on the long-running ABC soap opera and continue the love story of Sprina opposite Tabyana Ali (Trina, GH).
Chavez was cast as Lyle Menendez over the the summer of 2023 for the second season of Murphy’s limited Monsters series on Netflix. In the upcoming season, the series will focus on the the case of Lyle and Erik Menendez, the two well-to-do Beverly Hills brothers accused of murdering their parents in 1989.

After word from Chavez casting was revealed, GH fans were concerned over the fate of the Sprina story, a spokesperson for GH shared, “We support Nicholas’ endeavors and look forward to having him return to General Hospital once this project is wrapped.”
In story, the series “killed off” Spencer when he went overboard with Esme to the steely waters below after being injected with a drug, thanks to Esme and falling into the Seine River in France. However, his body was never recovered, and believed to have drowned or washed away. Thus, leaving an opening for Spencer to return in the form of Chavez or be recast down the line.

TV Line shared that ‘multiple sources’ are confirming that Chavez is not returning to the ABC soap opera, which is what many had suspected might be the case once he left for this major starring role in a Ryan Murphy project. Chavez has been relatively quiet on social media for months.

The Michael Fairman Channel spoke with Nicholas Chavez for a virtual interview when he first joined the show in 2021, and spoke to him right after when he won the Daytime Emmy in 2022 – you can see those below.
No word yet on when Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story will debut on Netflix, but it is assumed later this year.

Jack Wagner Open to Making an Appearance in ‘Melrose Place’ Reboot and Shares, “You Never Really Die on a Soap”
With the Melrose Place revival the talk of the town, now Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco, GH, ex-Nick, B&B and ex-Peter Burns, MP) has weighed-in on it and if he would show up in the new series if it should find a home.
Currently, CBS Studios is developing a reboot starring Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton. But what is Dr. Peter Burns were to show up alive?
As those who saw the end of the original MP know, Peter and Amanda (Locklear) faked their deaths and then tied the knot with Peter on a beach, supposedly in a “happily ever after” scenario.

Speaking with PEOPLE, Wagner expressed, what we all know who watch the soaps, that no one is never, ever really gone for good. Jack expressed, “You never really die on a soap, right? How they unfold those two characters (Peter and Amanda), it’d be fantastic how they sort of tell that story.”
Wagner added, “That was a great finale to be included in, especially with Heather. If I’m asked to come back, I’d absolutely entertain that.”

The original Melrose Place aired for seven seasons from 1992 to 1999. The story featured the residents of an apartment complex, whose lives were intertwined. Eventually Wagner and Heather Locklear dated fro 2007-2011.
As previously reported, the new Melrose Place share that some of original neighbors and friends reunite after a death. The loglines add, “The pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Brook Lynn and Chase Have Their Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties
On General Hospital, Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard) both were treated to Bachelorette and Bachelor parties to shake off any of those pre-wedding jitters. At The Savoy, the ladies have a touching and fun time with Brook Lynn.
The bride-to-be gives a speech to thank everyone for coming, while Lois lets everyone know to try the signature cocktail the “Brooklynn Chaser”, which gets everybody eventually and mostly, drunk.
When Tracy (Jane Elliot) questions Lois (Rena Sofer) as to why there is no music for the party, Lois realizes she forgot, and somehow, who does she call to the rescue? Spinelli (Bradford Anderson)! Saving the day, he winds up playing some tunes and later gets on the dance floor to ‘shake it off’ with the gals.

Lois makes a speech as the mother of the bride, and shares how proud she is of the woman Brook Lynn has become. Wedding games begin, including one of “hot potato” with a wedding bouquet.
When it’s time for the “Silly Poses” section of the party, Spinelli has now morphed from DJ to staff photographer taking memorable photos of the ladies to remember the evening by.

The best part of the event, was when Brook Lynn tries to get her grandmother Tracy out on the dance floor, which, at first, she refuses. After several of the guests bust a move, a tipsy Tracy joins the dance party after Joss mentions that if her grandmother Bobbie was here, she would dance. Tracy says “she agrees” and begins to cut a rug on the floor, much to the delight of the other women.

In the final moments, a tipsy Joss and Kristina (Kate Mansi) have a confrontation about Sonny, and Joss lets Kristina in more on Sonny’s behavior, which looks to have clued in Kristina a bit more as to how something is way off about her dad.

Across town at the Hatchett Bar, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and the men with the exception of Anna (Finola Hughes) and Jordan (Tanisha Harper), all attend Chase’s Bachelor Party where throwing hatchets into a dart board for supremacy is the order of the day. Drew (Cameron Mathison) and Ned (Wally Kurth) get into some words over ELQ, while Dante makes a toast to his police partner, Chase.

Suddenly Dex (Evan Hofer) shows up. Chase thanks Dex for coming, but Dex gets some dirty looks from other cops on the force. Dante gives Chase his present, which is a signed baseball by the Boston Red Sox.
Ned (Wally Kurth) makes a speech that although no one is good enough for his daughter, Brook Lynn, Chase has come closer than anyone has, so welcome to the family. Running in at the end is Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez), who just left Brook Lynn’s party, and she toasts her singing partner, Chase, and to the great man that he is.

Didn’t FV say that they couldn’t bring Nat until the rights came back to ABC and was one of the actors/characters that were part of the deal.

I find the question/answer portion severely vague to get any real answer, but it is what it is.
Yes, I read in another article that her Prospect Park contract wouldn’t allow her to come on GH. Makes you wonder if they’re always telling the truth….
Weird that she never had a Propect Park contract and Most of the actors who went to GH (ME,KD) did.
understanding PP has the rights to the characters until January.Which I believe is a bunch of crap cooked up between PP and ABC.How can you afford the rights and not afford to have the soaps.But it has been explained that if to much of OLTL live storyline would entitled pp the rights longer because they have showed enough of OLTL storylines to make it as if they are showing it.Sounds stupid but that is what has been said the Frank knows how far he can push the OLTL storylines before PP is credited.Another ploy to me to keep soaps away by ABC.Still and aways believe pp who are X ecec from Disney is just a way to put sopa fans off the track hpoing we would forgive and forget ABC cancelled the soaps.I’m going to continue boycotting ABC exccept GH until these lost soaps are back somewhere on Tv for all to veiw.
I think everyone now knows the ABC/Prospect Park fiasco was a total scam on the fans, advertisers, and Disney shareholders for which they should be investigated. As a long time OLTL fan, either bring OLTL back or let it die with dignity. IMO GH has become a long cruel joke. The OLTL characters are not the same and there are way too many. Nat was a week character played by an actress who had very little training. She was annoying and shrill. Please don’t make what is already a bad show (GH) worse.
I have been watching OLTL sence the 80s , I think Milissa Archer is a wonderful
Actress. I personally kept thinking she would come to GH, and hope she does. I think there is some real good material with her character. I was very dispointed
that she wasn’t moved over!!? I personally do not think these Canceled Soaps will
“NOT” do well if you do not bring them back to ABC, CBS, or any major network.
GH is my other favorit and have watched the program for years.

John has a good life now and has become an awesome character without Nat ,the best he has ever been, actually..

I couldnt agree with you more! Gh does not need Natalie, I couldnt stand her on OLTL, so I would not be able to tolerate her here either. John is fine without her
i am upset at not seeing natalie and liam in port charles with john. if you bring a character over that is married or involved with someone else it doesnt make sense not to bring over his family. I am just as angry if not more that Todd manning he has been brought over ONLY with Starr! that makes no sense as he has two other children jack and danielle BUT THE MOST GLARING OMISSION IN THAT CASE IS BLAIR. KASSIE Depaiva should be brought over just as Natalie should. I dont expect children to be cast first but at least Natalie and Blair should be in port charles full time. Having blair come and go is not good enough and not seeing natalie at all is horrible.

One life to live was higher rated then gh throughout 2011 but lets face it abc wants out of the soap business for cheaper to produce reality programs. what ron and frank are trying to do and obviously have been successfull in doing is making gh an ENSEMBLE cast with rotating stories and actors. I DONT SEE HOW gh is being destroyed if the ratings are the highest in years seems to me the addition of oltl cast members(lets face it their were only 3 with tea and blair recurring)has given gh a much needed BOOST. The only one destroying gh was GUZA who made gh a boring impossible to watch show that was ONLY ABOUT THE MOB. Steve Burton didnt “see the handwriting on the wall” It was HIS CHOICE to move his family to tennessee he said himself he had been thinking of the move for years. GH actors were not fired they have brought on anna, duke lavery aj quartermaine and next month we will see skye chandler, robert scorpio, ned ashton, lucy coe, scott baldwin(rumored). i dont see how this is totally destroying anything if all these people are returning. Also coming back is Alan Quartermaine. So the addition of oltl and these cast members are what is making gh such a ratings bonanza that and the hard work of the cast crew and production staff. I find the lack of Natalie within the story YET using her to make John appear sympathetic, a little half-a**ed and I borderline hated ‘Jolie’.
If she’s good enough to mention and try to drag her name through the mud, she’s good enough to be on the show. The age bracket in which she is in is lacking on GH. They could have made space for her. They certainly did with the rest of the characters they brought from OLTL to GH.
Except, she’s not there. So, she’s used as this subplot to build up John and Sam and I simply do not buy it. If John was so concerned about being a father to Liam, he would have. Instead, he’s off being some friend to Sam and saving her day. While Natalie is supposedly off doing whatever it was the writers felt like writing that day to justify John’s actions. I’m sorry but it doesn’t. He chose to chase Sam. He chose to ignore the fact that he had a son with Natalie and he missed the majority of his life and should have been trying to get to know him better. If he was doing that instead of going after someone who was married and obviously emotionally unstable to handle the situation that they had the potential to be involved in, I do not feel sorry for him nor think Natalie is the devil for taking their son elsewhere. Even now, he’s not making an effort to see Liam or making sure he’s not cut out of his life.
Also, Melissa, you are wrong. This is General Hospital; not Port Charles. The fact that this industry STILL thinks they can cross actor/actresses pairings on another show from their original is astonishing. Do they not get that the audience hasn’t brought one pairing done in this manner? Why is that? Because they try to force the issue; which is exactly what they tried to do with John and Sam. It’s the exact reason why they haven’t truly been brought among fans because no one wants to see Caleb and Olivia. We want to see how John McBain and Sam Morgan (nee. McCall) stack up. Write the story that fits the current characters; not the story that they have with their ‘chemistry’ and previous working experience with one another. As far for them stacking up as John and Sam, they do not stack up as characters to make me want to root for them and their romantic relationship. I have never seen a pairing who has chemistry but doesn’t have chemistry at the same time and yet the writers are insisting on forcing the issue. I honestly like the friendship between John and Sam; when they aren’t forcing them to be romantic and something they don’t need.
To end this long ended response, it’s nice to know that Melissa isn’t ruling an appearance on GH completely out but if you do not want to come on just to have Natalie on, I honestly do not want to see Natalie thrust into a situation where she’s coming in to be a romantic spoiler like she’s some other woman that he doesn’t have some long and complicated history when she’s not.

I wish all of you with your wishlists of OLTL characters for GH would just stop. It is getting out of control. The focus should be on GH and GH history and characters not OLTL. Please just be thankful for what you have which is a lot more than any other canceled soap got.
What I like and am thankful for is my business. It’s a TV show. I’ll watch when I find it entertaining.

On no, please, no Natalie. Todd being on GH is the only good thing that’s come out of OLTL joining GH. John is OK – and the chemistry between Michael and Kelly is writer’s GOLD. Surely they will drag their story out as long as possible. John fits in with the darker themed story lines of GH that OLTL just did not have except for Todd’s. back in the day! Kassie doesn’t bother me but she was truly out of her league in scenes when Todd first showed up in Port Charles. The actors around her made me embarrassed for her to tell you the truth, and needless to say, she wasn’t offered a contract. As for Natalie showing up to throw a monkey wrench into John and Sam… LOL! You must not know Sam! That would be ALMOST as ridiculous as OLTL’s “City of Eterna” year which was an embarrassment to soaps on every channel. The writers would have to re-write Sam and no one is going to do that for Melissa Archer.
I think its perhaps for the best that Natalie does not come over. Ron and Frank, for all their supposed OLTL love, have shown a shocking disregard for that show and its characters. Their first move was to violently kill off Cole and Hope, two characters who had already been presumed dead. Next they brought John over with no mention of the love of his life. Then they broight Todd and Blair, only to further destroy them. Then they brought Tea on only to kill her baby too. I never saw this kind of disturbing misogynistic writing at OLTL. they are just continuing the path of destruction that Guza and Phelps became known for.
Good point. But Natalie would certainly bring the drama that cyborgSam is missing. Sorry to her fans, and I vote for her DWTS, but she is dullsville. Sam and Jason made a great couple because they both display no passion.
I completely agree the character of Natalie would at least give me the satisfaction of having someone yelling at John for the disloyal ass and awful father he has been.
I think they should bring natalie on when john and sam start getting close again. I am dying to see Sam open the door see natalie and she just bitch slap Sam. I would love seeing those scenes play out. Natalie would make a good match for Johnny if he isn’t killed off by then. I think should could also be a great friend for Dante.

If MA came on GH as Natalie I would watch without a second thought because she would definitely shake things up. The show has become boring and John’s story is one big mess of badly stitched together plot points, that consists of script that would never be part of John’s vocabulary and where they can’t decide whether he’s a cheater or a dummie but three things he’s not anymore is likeable, rootable or a hero. His scenes now stink of badly recycled Jolie moments, like we wouldn’t know . At least write an original story because John and Sam suck at Jolie part 2. Nat had spunk, beauty and she was an original, a character of her nature is sorely lacking on that show. IMO,this means to me that there was no reason for OLTL fans to have tuned into GH in the first place in hopes of seeing their beloved characters go on. All FV and RC have done is slap loyal fans of GH and a cancelled OLTL in the face. They’ve run Jason off and refuse to bring Nat on all for two aging vampires from a previously low rated, cancelled soap, who’ve lost whatever appeal they once had. John and Natalie ended happily on OLTL, if they wantted to have Kemo and ME then he should have come over as another character because now I wouldn’t watch him if you paid me, he’s ffwd material now. Without Natalie and Liam John is now just a loser, a deadbeat and a coward, not to mention boring. I have no interest in a character like that.. The show took our timeslot, our characters and destroyed them especially John McBain and our happy endings. It’s definitely time to stop watching, they’ve proven they don’t care about us as their new viewers. Until MA as Natalie is bought on to kick John’s behind and show PC what Bam really is I think I will take a leave because as in the arrogant words of RC ,’This show is obviously not for me”.

IA. I don’t know this John McBain. He is boring and there is nothing rootworthy about him or him and Sam as a couple. MA would be the only reason for me to watch GH. Like you said they have destroyed everything about OL and I have no desire to watch GH. MA would be the only reason to make me watch that boring, depressing show.
The show did not take OLTL’s time slot – The Revolution took it and it’s been cancelled too. GH was pushed back to the 2pm Eastern time slot so that Katie Couric can have the 3pm slot. OLTL was cancelled., GH was not and you can’t expect GH producers to cater to OLTL fans any more than they already have. GH got the best characters from OLTL and will make them even better. No one ran Jason off, Steve Burton chose to leave the show for family reasons and the character is too good to recast.
One a different note, Natalie and Sam would make for a great argument, Sam would still come out on top. Natalie’s character just isn’t in sync with the atmosphere of GH. Starr’s character is STARTING to learn.. Todd was awesome from day one and the only saving grace of this merging.
What some people on this site fail to understand is that some of us who were OLTL fans are also fans of GH. I have been watching AMC, OLTL and GH for over 20 years. So seeing some of the characters from OLTL on GH is a bonus for me because I grew up with most of these characters. John and Nat was the it couple on OLTL. Imagine if Jason left GH and the character get hoked up with Tea on OLTL. No one want to see their favorite couple pair up with someone else. I’m all for Nat to come on GH. John’s character is being destroyed, he would never have turn his back on his family.
I don’t ever want to see Sam with McBain. Bring on MA now.
JaSam cannot be matched and there is no point trying to do this with McBain of all people who RC.FV gave most of Jason’s story to hen he came on canvass, such a waste and because of that I can’t root for McBam. Ugh!
Natalie needs to come to GH…I love her and John together. John doesn’t belong with Sam. Maybe as friends but nothing more. John and Natalie struggled for many years to find there way to one another. Bring her to General Hospital!
You bet I’m upset! I have supported ABC soaps since Kindergarten. Over 40 years. In all those years, storylines, characters, Natalie was one of my TOP faves! To me it makes perfect sense to bring her on. Sorry to GH ONLY fans, but she would be the perfect fit, especially with Steve Burton’s Jason currently out of the picture. I hope for his fan’s sake he returns down the road. Not trying to offend anyone, but I find John & Sam pairing a snooze fest and they need spitfire Natalie to liven up the storyline. JMO. Still think Melissa Archer is awesome and hope GH makes room for her as Natalie or whoever. Lovely, talented & classy. C’mon Cartini, bring it on!
I should add I’m currently watching “classic OLTL” on SOAPNet and wouldn’t be wasting my before work “me time” if I didn’t enjoy it. And, oh yeah, Natalie is heavily featured on this epi and doesn’t need McBain to make her interesting and watchable!

Michael Easton as John McBain on OLTL = boring. He was so soft spoken. Now Nathanial Marsten (too bad for the law troubles) was the kind of actor that got your attention when he was on as does Roger Howarth.
When Easton was with Kelly Monaco on Port Charles as Caleb Morley, he commanded the screen. They were so HOT together it was insane. They are HOT as Sam and John. If you can’t see it, just go back to the July 4th episodes – the way he grabbed her after they stood up on the docks. They just have something together that cannot be denied.
It:s one thing to bring a OLTL character over to GH for a potential paring with an established GH character, such as Michael/Starr, Carly/Todd, or Sam/John. It’s a whole different thing to expect
GH fans to be excepting of established OLTL couples stealing air-time from beloved GH characters who have been back-burned to accommodate the squishing of FV’s prefered soap opera. Personally, I was campaigning to get Roger Howarth as Todd in ANY convoluted soapy way possible. I kind of saw a bit of a fit with John McBain with the PCPD,although FV has certainly pushed my buttons on that front with his ” John Mcbain comes to the Port Charles” by inserting him in a s/l.early on that sacrificed great story potential JUST to establish him as Sam’s new savior in a story that Sam had no logical business being involved in either. And GH needed a young female to pair with Michael as portrayed by the hugely talented Chad Duell, so Starr gained tolerance soon after arriving. IF FV makes the mistake of bringing Natalie into the PC ” love arena”, this > 40 year GH fan’s tolerance level could very well implode.

OMG! Do not even get me started on this subject! Sam and John are a contrived bunch of crap! You have two long term couples with huge fan bases that have been mutalated for them that is alot of biter fans….alot of Jolie fans have tuned out especially after they had John Cheating on Natalie its like one episode he is calling her “I love you” the next he is Kissing Sam “with no regrets” then goes home to “his family” then the Letter from Natalie WTH? Natalie would never keep Liam from John nor would she find someone else and the last one on Monday “Money and john’s job” really she gave her trust fund away years ago she didnt care about money and she always worked with John on his job!! Then there is Jason/sam they had the baby they waited years for and TPTB brought John in and Had him Deliver the baby and Had Sam “have feelings for him” with absolutely no real story for them I mean all John/Sam talked about was their significant others! Then the episode that made them look like rebounds OMG! The only way the story COULD have worked was to bring Natalie on first then have her presumed dead or something that is the only way John could have moved on with out looking like a total sleeze and male slut or deadbeat dad……….I am joining the Jolie and Jasam fans in tuning out if they do John/Sam I can’t watch them I already don’t give their episodes ratings I cant stomach them I have to FF…watching them makes me feel like i’ve lost TWO soaps instead of just OLTL…all I wanted was for John/nat to have their HEA when the show was canceled and RC/FV have ruined that……biter is a understatment! Chem alone does not make a couple all the history of john/natalie and Sam/Jason does

What Ms. Archer conveniently didn’t mention is that she has been under contract to Prospect Park and UNABLE to go to GH. At this point, I really don’t want to see her in Port Charles. John and Sam have so much chemistry together…much more than I ever saw between John and Natalie…so I’m really hoping that McBam–Jam–McSam (whatever squish name they use) is the way the show is going.

So let’s play Devil’s Advocate here. You get your precious Natalie (I was a fan of OLTL too so I can put it this way), but then you need Liam. Well you can’t just stop there. You will want Jessica (and her boyfriend and children) because she is Natalie’s sister; then Viki because she is their mother; oh then you need Clint because he is her father. Let’s not stop with Kevin and Joey (and Kelly) – they are her brothers. Then you will want Roxie because she raised Natalie. Oh, but don’t forget Rex and Gigi and their son. Well if you get Roxie you will have to have Niles.
Then the really greedy of you will want Bo and Nora because Bo is Clint’s brother. Oh we can’t leave Nora without her family so we will need Matthew and his child and his girlfriend. Why not throw in RJ and Rachel and everyone else that has ever been on the show and connected to the Gannons like Lindsay?!
For those of you SCREAMING for Blair. You won’t stop there. You will want that brat son of her’s, Jack, and then Sam. You are still clamoring for Victor and then Tea and Danni. Why don’t we bring back Marty Saybrooke and Patrick Thornhart while we are at it?
This is just silly. The point is the majority of you OLTL worshipers will NEVER be happy until GH is destroyed and has become OLTL in Port Charles. It is not fair to the show that is GENERAL HOSPITAL. A show RICH with iconic characters like Luke & Laura, Holly & Robert, Robin & Patrick, Anna & Duke; not to mention their own kooky characters like Spinelli and Alice. Their own antics of the Quartermaines having pizza for Thanksgiving.
I get the points that the GH faithful are making. On the one hand, adding OLTL characters brought viewers to GH, but on the other hand, it is driving away faithful GH fans. It can’t be both ways. I think just enough has been added for both parties to let a little of Llanview live on while those residents are living in Port Charles.
Please, for the love of Pete, please stop asking for more! I watched OLTL too. I also watch GH and many other shows that were canceled. Stop acting like spoiled brats and just be happy with what you have which is a lot more than the other canceled soaps received.
It would really surprise me if any of the contracts that people had with Prospect Park are still in force at this late date. I’m trying to imagine some kind of legally enforceable clause in the contract that says in essence “we’re not paying you but you can’t work elsewhere, either.” (For a short period perhaps, but not for this long.) I suppose it’s possible that ABC has agreed, formally or informally, with Prospect Park not to use the actors, however. Clearly she’s legally able to pursue work, because she just had a movie; whatever arrangement there is must only cover other soaps, or other ABC soaps.

The Prospect Park situation has nothing to do with the actors. The actors are free to work wherever they want. Allegedly, Prospect Park bought/leased the rights to the characters, such as Natalie, Bo, Nora, etc. So, allegedly, ABC is unable to use those characters until Prospect Park’s rights to them expire. So, if FVRC were really hot to have Melissa Archer on the show, they could bring her on as a brand new character Gertrude Finklemeyer. They just couldn’t name her character Natalie Buchanan and use her backstory.
I know I don’t have enough history with either OLTL or GH to completely understand the character dynamics, but at the end of OLTL, it seemed that “Natalie” and “John” would be happy for a long time to come. That’s why the kiss between “John” and “Sam” seemed so forced and now this “stay away from me and Liam, you terrible man” sotry line seems contrived as well. I can’t help but wonder if it isn’t “Clint” pulling one of his schemes and acting as “Natalie”. That would make more sense to me.
As for the talented Melissa coming over to GH, I think it would make for some powerful scenes betwen her, Michael and Kelly; just later on. The canvas is so full right now.
I’m not a fan of the wedding spoilers ~ scorned lovers, returned from the dead spouses, etc. ~ so I hope they play this out in some other fashion down the road.
I haven’t been a fan of MA’s (just never cared one way or another), though I have heard glowing things about her through her castmates at OLTL.
This response however has made me a fan of her’s personally.
I can just imagine at least a dozen soap “divas” being insulted and disparage their former boss over a choice like this. They would see themselves as so invaluable, how dare any show not kiss their feet to come back on!?!?

This will take her very far in life, being this positive and upbeat. I’ve heard the great things her former co-workers have said about her also. A class act!

I loved One Life to Live i miss everyone from there my #1 soap . I wish they would bring Natalie and Liam so John could see them they were so close for so long its weird how they broke up over a nasty jerk like Todd . I always wanted them to get back together they were such a cute couple . I miss Natalie and i miss her sister Jessica it would be nice if they would add David Gregory and his brothers too. There are not that many families on Gh they need new blood to keep it exciting since they lost their Best man Jason i always liked him . I think hes awesome too. I was lucky i knew that Oltl was going to be off so i taped about 6 months of it on dvd.:-)
I was never a caleb and livvie fan so McBam would actually succeed in getting me to tune out. John belongs with Nat what they r writing is out of char. for both John & Nat. I know I’m not the only fan that feels this way! U can’t always catch the magic in a bottle twice John & Sam r different characters so destroying existing characters just to try to capture lightening in a bottle again will have the oppoaite effect. like is said it will turn me off!

When the contracts are released by Prospect Park I am hoping that we will see Natalie. I really think the contract is the holdup and MA is playing the part!
I would love MA to come to GH as Natalie but I agree is not time. Although interaction with Sam has diluted my love for John McBain. I wonder if TPTB are aware that we do not swallow every pairing they shove down our throats. It also took away from the credibility of the JASAM happy ending they rushed through. Damage is usually done to the woman characters on GH and this time is no different = Sam looks less like a woman who is madly in love with Jason and more like a woman who does not have the courage to be alone.
Melissa Archer as Natalie would add a lot to Port Charles. She’s Starr’s aunt, Todd’s niece, Clint’s daughter, the mother of John’s son, a forensic expert and a fiery redhead. She’s also Allison Perkin’s arch-enemy, and Allison was seen holding Todd’s twin brother Victor in One Life to Live’s last scene. My guess is that Allison kidnapped Natalie and is holding her with Victor. “No cops!,” she said to Clint who went on to bamboozle McBain in an attempt to ensure her safety. We’ll see. Whatever happens, FV and RC will make sure it’s a great ride.
All this Prospect Park bs doesn’t make sense. First of all, Michael
Easton agreed to join the online version pending AFTRA approval, so did Florencia and they both have been on GH; Easton even has a contract. So how can PP be holding up anything? And how can people like Melissa be under contract to somethng that doesn’t even exist? Is she being paid while being held hostage by PP? I doubt it. And what about Erica Slezak – she was the first to sign on to PP. Is she prevented from doing anything? No matter how you look at it, this whole PP excuse doesn’t make sense. If ABC wanted more OLTL stars on GH those stars would be on GH. And I’ve also heard that ABC will bring back OLTL after the rights are relinquished by PP. Not buying any of it.

I for one don’t see any chemistry between John and Sam. Not only is there no chemistry, the characters being romantically involved is a joke. They make no sense! Never did and never will!
I think Frank and Ron are fools for not bringing Melissa onto the show, in spite of the PP contract issues. They paid extra to bring Tea and Blair. They could have done it for Natalie especially since John and Natalie are so hugely popular as a soap couple. Frankly, they could have saved money by not bringing Starr over, who I never had any use for.
Moving forward, I hope they bring Natalie over ASAP when her PP contract is no longer an excuse – Michael and Melissa have serious chemistry and it’s time that Natalie join John with Liam. The damage that Ron is doing to John’s character could be irreparable if Natalie doesn’t come soon and John doesn’t start acting like the real John- someone who loves Natalie and Liam passionately and won’t give them up this easily.
I agree with all those who love John&Natalie and are INCENSED at the way their beautiful love story, their beautiful family, has been TRASHED on GH, all to create an “instant connection” between John&Sam, how contrived and insulting! John LOVES Natalie, he always has, and the way he’s been acting around Sam makes NO SENSE AT ALL! Stop it, GH, just STOP IT! Reunite John and Natalie.
Although I feel that bringing Melissa Archer over to GH would be fantastic, I have to admit that the John and Sam pairing brings alot of heat! Like Melissa said, the two were great together on Port Charles, so why not use that chemistry again. However, I have a feeling that somewhere down the road, Melissa will be asked to stir things up on GH once John and Sam become an official couple…you just know that is where the storyline is going!

I am really enjoying the chemistry between Michael Easton and Kelly Monaco. This is coming from someone who never watched Port Charles. As a GH fan I wanted to dislike McBain because I was a longtime Sonny and Jason fan. His character was going up against them so I naturally was on their side. After seeing how wonderfully John interacted with Sam, how he helped her through the consequences of her supposed “rape” by Franco, how he quietly supported her and made her smile, I couldn’t help but warm up to the possibility of a John/Sam romance as well as begin to like the character of John McBain.
While I understand that John and Natalie have a long history and a family, John & Sam are what I look forward to seeing most on GH. I do not really mind the messy way in which their romance began because it’s a soap and messy beginnings to great stories are a part of the genre. I was also never a Jason and Sam fan so I didn’t resent John coming between them. Jason and Sam had been on the show as an on/off couple for 9 years. I welcomed the change and found watching John and Sam quite refreshing. I still do.
As for Melissa Archer’s comments, I think she is a classy woman and it’s nice to see her not being resentful about her OLTL pairing coming to an end (for now, at least). I think she knows that this is a soap and the same pairings cannot stay together forever. Change is a part of the soap genre and I’m glad to see that she understands this. I wish more of her fans did.

I LOVE Melissa Archer, and love Natalie. I have always had an affection for Natalie ever since she came on to OLTL in 2001. She was a dynamo then, and she will be on GH as well. I really feel John is nothing without Natalie, and Natalie’s fire and energy is exactly what Port Charles needs. So bring her on already, and adorable Liam too! I can’t stand that I’m not able to watch him grow bigger and hear him do baby talk!

As of now, his character has abandoned fatherhood for months because he needed justice for his sister. He spent most of that time, helping Sam instead of seeking justice. Finds out that Joe Jr killed her, and then nothing. Joe Jr practically ran around Port Charles having sexy time with Tracy, kidnapping the children and bank rolling Trey’s projects/marriage. He was even an acquaintance of Jerry Jax.
Add that john cheats on Natalie, goes home to her and makes no mention of it. Todd tells Natalie, and he goes to attack Todd for his role in ending his relationship? Did Todd hold a gun to his head and make him a cheater?
Then he was going to “fight for his Family” which involved staying far from llanview in Port Charles, hiring the mother of the woman he cheated with, ranting that Natalie has no right to take his son which he ignored for months, pity seeking and of course, spending time with the woman he cheated with. Yes, This is EXACTLY how one goes about building a family.
And since I have no interest in Sam, John the scumbag with Sam is the worse part of GH for me. I not so secretly wish Duke would have killed John instead or has him somewhere being electrocuted with Robin.
GH fans complain about OL characters coming to their show. Well you got our EP ,our writers our directors our time slot and our HEA…it is just right that our characters should continue to come over and Natalie should be next. This Natalie MA fan though would love for her to mix it up with a GH guy..she doesn’t have to be with John just interact with him because of Liam. She could hook up with any GH guy and make it work. Put her with Sonny for a while cuz what he has going on now….well …enough said. Seriously though she sounds like such a nice person and is oh so professional..love her.

The crossovers now have new lives in Port Charles and are not carrying their OL baggage with them into their futures on GH.
There should never be a Natalie and John in GH, Port Charles is a new start for the crossovers.
I understand how much the OL fans miss their soap but expecting RC and FV to continue on OL in GH is crazy..

That is the problem…they are talked about, pictures shown, and not just Natalies either….And if RC/FV wanted brand new starts he should have brought the actors over with new characters i would have followed them and been better ingaged in new pairings…but you CAN NOT have John so in love with natalie and happy to be with her a single tear rolls down his face…then six weeks later going to GH hanging around Sam etc…..makes no since… they should have left John/Natalies HEA alone and brought ME as a new character or brought both and had Natalie presumed dead with the rest of them then it would have made since for John to move on but to have him all of sudden wanting to be with someone else is just ridiculous he loved her even when he wasnt with her all the time he was on OLTL 9yrs doesnt make since to those of us that watched both soaps
GH should do whatever makes the most sense in terms of telling stories that will bring in viewers. Given that at the time of OLTL’s cancellation, its ratings were considerably better than GH’s, ABC would be fools not to take advantage of whatever can be salvaged from OLTL. The key issue is balance, and I have to say I think they’ve done a good job with that so far. I do think they need to be careful about any further additions, but I think adding Blair and Natalie would both make sense and could be done in an integrated way.
GH needs Natalie! I think it’s ridiculous that Natalie hasn’t been on yet! The chemistry between John and Natalie is amazing, much better than between John and Sam. But, now that something has started with Sam, Natalie showing up to Port Charles would be electric!! John’s character really needs Natalie to be fully developed. Please bring her on soon.
I love MA & loved her as Natalie. However, it’s getting really old when “Natalie” is continually being used as a “plot point” for John on GH. If Valentini/Carlivati want their dream of “Calivia – Part II”, they should have had John come on as already being single, with a custody agreement already agreed on ( then when ME took time off, it could be explained he was spending time with Liam) OR they should have brought him on as a new character. Plus, they should realize that neither John nor Sam are anything like their PC characters – but instead character assasination has taken place (imo) with everyone involved simply because Valentini/Carlivati are living in the past & want to recreate the past. Regarding MA – yes, I would watch if she came on GH BUT if all her story would be was a “spoiler” for the great “McBam” romance – then no thanks (and I hope that’s what she says IF offered).
I think John and Natalie belong together. I have always thought that. They just click together. Maybe if Natalie shows up at GH, Sam could pair up with AJ when he returns. Of course, I really am going to miss Jason. In my opinion, he was the best of GH.
I love Natalie and hope she comes to GH. Not into Sam and John. Sam doesn’t even believe Jason is dead yet and then she needs time to grieve for her husband and get to know Danny. Not a good time for a Sam/John hookup if you ask me.
Wow. So many haters against us who have liked the OLTL actors. You all should be more appreciative ! They have saved general hospital from cancellation along with Frank. Like it or not…. The more OLTL actors, the stronger GH will be. Bring more back! Lets get rid of Maxiie, Kristina, Molly, Alexis, Dante, Felicia, Mac, and Elizabeth. Keep Milo only if he is shirtless. This would allow for more OLTL actors to come to Port Charles!

Now now nowww., GH is only around due to oLTL actors. We will keep half of the GH actors that are interesting and bring back the good OLTL actors. This way…… Finally a soap will be able to beat out CBS young and restless. Finally! It is a brilliant idea. Some casualties, but abc wins in the end….

I’m joking… but it seems not what, no one is happy with the ABC lone soap, no matter how hard it tries to please everyone. ABC should just turn back time, then OLTL would still be on the air and GH would not… OLTL had higher ratings.

The majority do not want MA /Natalie in GH.
It is the OL fans that want her in GH and still not all of them, many who did watch OL did like the couple of John and Nat especially they did not like Nat..
yah have to let OL go.. it done over, don’t bring the bodies to GH ..
Down the line, Nat does need to come to GH or get rid of John. ‘If’ he has to be paired with someone, Elizabeth makes more sense. Sam needs to be ALONE for a decent mourning period as does Patrick. He is dating TOO soon imo!
GH Fans, if it had been cancelled INSTEAD of OLTL, I’m quite sure you wouldn’t have minded GH characters showing up in Lanview….so please stop whining.
You are expecting FV and RC to carry OLTL on in GH, they can not do that.
They have tried to let the OL fans down gently but it has to stop, RC can not be catering to fans of a dead soap..
It is time to move on and GH is not a shelter for homeless OL characters.

Only reason why GH ratings are up is because of the OLTL actors. Time to appreciate the OLTL actors for saving GH!
GH is up due to great writing and riveting stories and the bringing back of the GH vets..
Bringing back the GH vets was a great boost to GH, not 3 from OL..
The long time favorites from/of GH coming back is what has rejuvenated GH ..
