Our antenna went up just a tad, when we saw this bit of casting news which could clearly give some meaty story to Andrew Trischitta of One Life to Live, who as Jack Manning definatily has some anger management issues, family issues, and after all he is a “Manning”.

TOLN announced that they have cast actress Alice Callahan to play the role of Kate, who is the summer school teacher for Jack Manning!  Callahan has appeared in several television shows.  Fans will recognize her as ‘Jessica Leitenberg’ from The CW’s teen series  Gossip Girl. Other credits TV include Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Callahan has appeared in several motion pictures including Almost Perfect and  Morning Glory.

So is One Life to Live about to embark on another contemporary social topic that has been in the news over the last few years?  Is Alice tied in to anyone else on the canvas?  We have our thoughts!  What are yours?

SOD says she takes an interest in Jack so it looks like a teacher/student relationship is a possibility.

I could vomit just thinking about this storyline. I hope they don’t go there. It seems to me that they’re just going down a list of social issues in the news, without any regard for staying true to the characters. I’ll keep watching OLTL, but I hate how it’s all sex, partying and drugs. Give me back the show I loved, please, because this isn’t it.

The characters are internet characters now, they no longer belong to ABC, and that is good thing..
I love what the PP writers have done with characters, now they are alive and real. 🙂
they have done an awesome job bring the soaps and characters into the new era of internet 21st century media.. ((applause!!..

Sounds like a storyline I had hoped for Matthew, but with a female college professor. Oh well, it could still happen!

‘This Is Us’ Guest Star Ron Cephas Jones & Jasmine Cephas Jones Become First Father-Daughter Winners In Emmy History

On Saturday night, Ron Cephas Jones took home his second Emmy for his guest-star turn on the hit NBC drama, This Is Us.   Jones, plays the biological father, William Hill to Sterling K. Brown’s Randall Pearson.  Jones took home the gold during the final night of the Creative Arts Emmys leading into Sunday’s night’s major ceremony on the 72nd annual Primetime Emmys on ABC. (8 p.m. EST/5 p. m. PST).

But what made last night all the more special for Ron is that with this win, he, along with his daughter actress Jasmine Cephas Jones, became the first father-daughter duo in Academy history to win Emmys.  Jasmine won on Thursday night’s Creative Arts Awards for her work on Quibi’s #FreeRayshawn.   Ron won in the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama series, while Jasmine took home the gold in the Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series category.

In the virtual press room following his win, Ron expressed: “As a parent that’s the most fulfilling that I could ever feel at the moment. Winning another Emmy is the icing on the cake, but to see my daughter progress and move into this place where she’s earned an Emmy is beyond words and I tear up every time I think about it to be honest with you. To see my daughter become healthy and happy, that’s a parent’s dream.  I’ve always focused on the work ever since she was a little girl, and coming from the theater it’s always been about trying to do good work…when you do what you want to do and you’re happy and you’re healthy that’s the win in itself… When we found out she was nominated, I was expressing to her that’s the win in itself when your work gets acknowledged and the win itself is the icing on the cake that keeps you humble and keeps you hungry.”

However, Ron’s win did not go off without hitch!  The broadcast announced The Outsider‘s Jason Bateman as the winner, and then suddenly cut to a commercial.  After the break, a title card acknowledged the mistake and confirmed that the This Is Us star was the actual winner.  In the virtual press room an announcement to all was made that: “They announced the right winner and the right slate, but the voiceover was incorrect.”

So what do you think about Ron Cephas Jones second Emmy win for This Is Us, and his daughter winning an Emmy the same Emmy season? Comment below.
