Alicia Leigh Willis Makes A Return To General Hospital As Courtney Matthews Comforts Her Son Spencer!

Courtesy/ABC
On Monday’s part two of General Hospital’s Nurses Ball 2015, Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Bechtel) received a heavenly visit from his mother the late Courtney Matthews towards the end of the episode. The pick-up of the scene will occur on tomorrow’s final part of this year’s Nurses Ball.
With Courtney back for a visit, that means that GH was able to welcome back Alicia Leigh Willis in the role! Courtney’s return came about when during GH Fan February, ABC.com asked viewers who they wanted to see come back for a visit during this year’s Nurses Ball episodes? Courtney was voted the winners by 42% of the voters, and was followed by Stefan Cassadine at 30%. Now the stage is set for a mother and son chat as Spencer has been motherless throughout his childhood, since Courtney died shortly after giving birth to the little prince.
As for Willis, in On-Air On-Soaps recent interview with her, Alicia even teased that she would love to come back to work with Tyler Christopher (Nikolas) again and to see her on-screen son, if somehow that were possible. And looks like that day is here!
So, are you glad that Courtney will finally have scenes with her son Spencer who has been in an emotionally fragile state since his face was burned in the fire at Wyndemere? Share your thoughts below!
well-
It might be ok IF Courtney is not a dumb ghost or some such thing..BOO! lol
I’m ok with the Cassadines having whatever to do with keeping Courtney alive, they are very good at that 🙂
( I would rather have Spenser and Britt..
Me too…i like Spenser and Britt together!!!
Hey SUoo! Courtney meant to write “Boo!” on the steam buildup of Nikolas’s bathroom mirror but she became confused with the idea of reflection and how it reverses right from left. Nikolas became perplexed when he got out of the shower and saw “!!!OOB” written on his mirror.
I think it’s just what he needs, but it’s too bad she is only a ghost, really wish she could stay,I think it would help Nicholas out too.
I miss Alicia so much – it would be great if GH would bring her back full time. After all no one truly dies on a soap opera. It would be so much fun to watch Spencer interact with his mother on a regular basis – not as an angel!
Well, Spencer (who is in great need of child psycho therapy before he becomes a serial killer) is clearly hallucinating. Because Courtney was so stupid that her spirit would not know how to cross over from the after life back into real life. I believe that if Courtney’s spirit did try to cross over she’d end up in the frozen food isle of the local supermarket stuck on the word “concentrate” on the can of frozen orange juice.
I mean, this chick was so stupid that she would reply,”Is that a trick question?” when anyone asked her how she was doing.
I am laughing really hard-can’t say that I disagree!
There is someone on another board that says “Courtney is her all time favorite character.” Of ALL the characters, past and present, this person picks the above-mentioned airhead. I would rather see the actress that played her MOTHER back before I see Courtney.
I have a feeling this vote was rigged.
Ouch, didn’t like her either she was part of that self righteous group of Carly sonny and Jason all acted like the world owed them something. Also agree on spencer, I’m waiting to see him kill someone’s pet on the show just to confirm that he’ll end up being a future serial killer, if the shoe is trying to play him up as this adorable little brat they are failing miserably, every time he calls Cameron a towny it Erks me, he comes across so hateful.
Lol…I love Spencer and think he’s adorable….but I must say Cameron in all his innocence is getting cuter and cuter as well!
Remember when Courtney had that gorgeous golden retriever? Suddenly, the dog just disappeared and no one mentioned it (much like when The Brady Bunch’s dog Tiger suddenly disappeared ).
Courtney was so stupid that even the dog became disgusted and ran away and Courtney didn’t even notice that he as gone.
This is a woman who has White-Out all over her monitor.
I only hope these child actors aren’t scarred for life…LOL.
PLEASE! Give them a storyline befitting children. Kids just don’t think with an adult brain…c’mon, now.
No, I am not glad. The character of Courtney never fit with GH. I would have been happy never to have seen her grace my GH screen again.
I must add, that I am highly doubtful that Courtney won more votes that Stefan Cassadine. Something stinks.
I really liked Stefan too. I loved Mary Beth Evans as Katherine Bell-she was so feisty. Loved how she tangled with Lucy and most of Port Charles.
Yes, Beth. The election probably took place in Florida.
It was a PR stunt she was always coming back to help that obnoxious child of hers! Stephen Nichols is coming back for his sweetness on Days!
aha! Harry.. I’m sure it did..
Stefan should have won! now, that would have been great!
bwwahahahaha
yes I hear that “Chad” really came in first!
Christy! Good one! (“Chad” ) I wish I had thought of it and I know Jim and Timm wish the same thing.
One more thing, Beth. I would rather the sweet, ethical and brilliant Georgie come back instead of the useless Courtney who is the very reason WHY dumb blonde jokes were invented. Georgie should never ever had been killed off. Adding to the list which should proceed Cornnuts–Alan Q, his son AJ, and yes, Stefan.
Heck, I’d even rather see Port Charles’ answer to Marcia Brady (Emily) come back than to see this clueless wonder blunder back into the show.
Id be happy if they’d just show Monica more…here we have Jakeson’s story front and center and she isnt even around…they show Sappy doing skits ect. at the nurses ball and she was fired from the hospital yet Monica isnt even in the audience…thats b.s.! and no Mac and Felicia!…double..b.s.b.s.,…Mac shouldve debuted with his Mr.Marbles replacement…that big dummy Ron Carlivati!!!
George I love her I didn’t like Courtney if they going to bring back some one Emily was great I love her what about Liz son Jake they shouldn’t kill him off maybe that what Liz needs courtesy didn’t have a roll of on G.H not really so is Courtney back for good are issued she a ghost
Hi Harry,…This is a reply to comments further down this section. ” Hatred” of Sabrina and Courtney is a pretty strong word. I just said “negatives.” And if they instil such dislike, they are doing their job right. I just hope some of the strong dislike doesn’t spill over into their personal feelings. They are human after all.
And Courtney isn’t the only one to switch partners for whatever reason. Look at Elizabeth. I’ve said more about this in a further scroll down the page.
Oh no, Rose, it’s okay. I really do hate Courtney and Sabrina. I don’t hate the actresses who play them, mind you.
I figure it’s good therapy to hate fictional actors because we can get our angst out. That way we don’t engage in driver’s rage or shopping rage. I don’t want to be that person who starts screaming that the woman in front of me has gone over the 9 item limit in the Express lane and that it’s an outage, an outrage, I tell ya!
Tyler Christopher has the ballot box in his dressing room!
I agree. No way do I believe this vote ended up with Courtney over Stefan.
How Wonderful is this!! Can’t wait..
Its ok but predictable…imo
she could come back everyone does. Helena you know
She looks so beautiful in her return and I miss Alicia on my screen. Spencer need someone with strong morals to help him combat all of that Cassasdine DNA. I am shocked how weak Nicholas’s parenting has been. Spencer is headed towards a dark future, as an entitled, narcissist with wealth and power to make him future villain in Port Charles. I wish there was a way to bring Alicia Leigh Willis back as maybe Courtney’s twin or cousin to help Spencer.
Strong morals? Wasn’t she originally a stripper. I guess she had a heart of gold, though.
Courtney was a twit, plain and simple. She actually had some potential with Jax, but that was squandered.
Sometimes even “strippers” out grow their past. She obviously needed some better parenting, too. Especially if Sonny is her half-brother. Some of his first “businesses” were strip clubs so he could give her a job. She wasn’t the only character caught up in his world. And look at Bobbie Spenser. After she was saved from her father Tim, she and Luke went to live with Aunt Ruby who owned a “house of ill repute.” So before nursing, Bobbie had another trade.
No, never liked her. Britts coming back, was more powerful. Spencer needed Britt, more then he needed his mother, that he never knew.
I totally agree… especially… if Hayden is still in the mix… and these two have at it… for Nikolas affections…
I was so hoping… for a strong twosome… in Brit and Nina… with “Dr. O” for this threesome… plus Nathan…to forefront
throw in Franco… and these characters would have escalated to the top tier
it’s been so long now… since Michelle Stafford acted her ass off… with her own mind… yes, I’m thinking MS’ Phyllis character…
NIna and Franco need to step on it… and GO…. move themselves onward and upward
let’s find a way for NIna and Aunt Leisl to shake things up : bond : forge a relationship and command
yes im glad but that scene was way too short! It was like a tease. I actually enjoyed Britt’s scene with Spencer more
I liked her and they look great as a family. I dont like killing off characters in general because these visions or ghost setups are limited. A perfect example is John Abbott on Y&R. Jack’s talks with him are great but to still have John alive and available would be 100 times better for the show. Same with Courtney, Emily, Alan Q, ect.
She won a vote ..
They had to do something with her that she could disappear quickly after her appearance..
I knew if she won it would be a snore lol
If, Stefan had won it would at the least have stirred the pot/been exciting..
(ever notice people whining= ”the cast it too large.. the cast is bloated…
yet.. we want more bring them all back keep them all ! ..aha!
I’m glad Stephan didnt win because I want that character to be brought back, long term. I would LOVE to see him act with Spencer. Nicholas is front and center so they would have a great story to tell especially since I could see Stephan wanting ELQ. Lastly, Stephan would happily take Laura off Fluke’s hands!
Because people want the good old days back, but that ship has sailed, unfortunately.
Chyrstie, who said anything about the good old days?
Timm, love your mental image of Stefan talking to Spencer.
Yes, that would be really fabulous. That would work for me.
Love the actress, and that she has a brief return. But the character of Courtney was ill-conceived at best, and pointless at worst. The difference in regimes is going to be jarring…especially with the campy, outrageous, over the top way Spencer is written, and the more serious, morose character that Courtney always was. Should be interesting though. And hopefully brief.
Never thought much of the Courtney character and the kid is written as a spoiled, self-important brat – don’t care at all.
Spencer is a spoiled brat that all
I LOVE IT!!!!! I just wish it could be for longer but ill take it
Would have preferred Stefan. He, too, could have bonded with Spencer. He and Nicolas were very close and he raised him well…
0oohh yes!
the awesome Stefan ! He would have indeed brought us excitement!
I really wanted want Stefan back, even if for a day it would have been much stronger and intriguing scenes..
imagine’ Nik, Spencer and Stefan together .. wow!
(Courtney yawn in comparison lol )
Is Stephen Nichols retired? He is wanted on three different soaps and it doesnt seem as if he is interested.
Don’t know…isn’t he back on Days?
Timm, Stephen returned to DAYS as Patch from 2006-2009, then moved on
to Y&R as Tucker from February 2009-2013. Recently made an appearance
on DAYS again for their 50th Anniversary.
And from what I’ve heard he WILL be seen on GH soon, regardless of
Courtney’s walkthrough.
Hmmm- Tucker McCall.. Patch .. but best of all was Stefan ..
He was at the Emmy’s.. had his pic taken with past cast mates.. one with Christian LeBlanc
March/April he was back to DOOL for the anniversary.
Awesome!!! 🙂 Nice to see her again.
Alicia Leigh Willis is as beautiful as ever, and I really enjoyed the scenes. It would be nice if Courtney were back as more than just a ghost. The Cassadines have everyone else in their freezer apparently, why not Courtney, lol?
What would be the point? RC likes bringing them back from the dead only to kill them off agian, first A J and now it looks like Duke is gonna ” die”
Aria, you are wrong..
Courtney was brought back for a day.. it was a one time thing, she knew that..
and-
”AJ” he left GH.. He left on his own..
Also– who has RC brought back from the dead to kill them??
Some actors are short stay and not meant to be a cast member and the actors know that when they take the job..
Actors do leave 🙂
Actors do leave by their choice..
ALL soaps have their dead.. however- nobody really dies on soap they are known to be resurrected at anytime ..
I was responding to Dan who said he wish the Courtney character was returning back for more than just a ghost I said what would be the point if later down the road he RC would most likely kill the charater offl like he did with A J. And will soon be doing to another character he resurrected only to kill off agian that other character is duke whom is being rumored to be killed off.
I voted for Sonny’s father to come back. I knew Courtney could only come back for mere moments seeing how she is dead… and would rather Emily come back for more visits instead.
and I know it’s been done before, but really wish Spencer would get knocked in the head and wake like normal behaving, normal speaking child. He really irritates me.
I’m with you on spencer he’s beyond a bratt, it looked like Patrick wanted to smack him after that stunt he pulled at the nurses ball . Looks like Emma had the good sense to stay clear of this little psychotic cassadine prince..
Here, here , Aria, and I’d really love for someone to just come out and say, “Pssst….Hey, Spence! Not only was yo mama a ‘townie,” but she was also a stripper!” That should permanently push that pompous little pipsqueak of a princeling back in his proper place!
I wanted Sonny’s father to come back too…would have loved seeing him in scenes with Ava’s mother Delia…he played her husband Roger on Ryans Hope…wouldve been hilarious if they had run into each other and Dee mistakens Sonny’s father for her husband Roger!!!
I wish they would have bought back Emily are Liz son jake
He sunk to a new low with his imitation of the Phantom of the Opera. He could have killed those kids.
He needs a good spanking. The actor is great, though.
Although I can see how Courtney was annoying to many (including myself), I actually started liking her once she inherited the money to start the foundation for underprivileged children; however, I indirectly blame her for taking in Diego since he got subsequently got rid of Georgie. Yet, I liked her at that point because she separated herself from Sonny and Jason and I enjoyed her standing up to them. I liked her with Jax and I liked her brief time with Nicholas. Sometimes soap writing does things that catch me off guard and takes a character in such a different direction such as Courtney getting pregnant with Nik’s child. She had been on the show for quite some time and was wrapped up in AJ, Jason, and Sonny/Carly world for so long that you would think she would be remembered for that, but since she’s been dead, I associate her as being Spencer’s mother.
It makes me sad how hateful this board can be. It was great to see an “old” face…Insctually liked Courtney when she was on. She made AJ human, and I always thought it was a shame (and utterly predictable) that she ended up with Jason instead. Wish she could come back and bring Spencer down a notch. He really needs a permanent mother figure in his life!! Speaking of which…anyone know if Hayden is finished? I will miss seeing RB on screen as well. Love my legacy characters/actors! Love love love that soaps feel like family <3
Also don’t like some negatives about Sabrina. There have been others as well that get almost personal toward the actors. You can express yourself about how you feel, but sometimes comments could be more sensitive and carefully worded.
Hope Hayden/Rebecca stays. I think there’s a lot they can do with her character, and it looks like she needs a home. Like to see a Rick stay as well. Like Scottie, we always need a couple of morally questionable characters who also have redeeming qualities.
Courtney and Sparkle Pony are fictional characters The hatred you see here is not about the actresses, it’s about the characters they play.
I did like Courtney with AJ, but like his family, she saw the sun and moon in Jason’s eyes and threw AJ over for the chosen one.
Harry 🙂
not one person has said a bad word about the actress Alicia, not one…
I don’t recall reading even anything bad said about the Courtney character, just mention of what happened in stories..
What was said– some wanted Stefan Cassadine back not Courteney, and that is not hatred, that is a ‘like’ opinion..
where do people come up with hate junk, sigh ..
It’s a scary world when su000 and I are on the same page.
For the record–I am sure Alicia is really intelligent in real life–she is certainly beautiful.
I just saw Courtney acting rather stupid time and time again. I can never erase the image of Courtney pawing the air while laughing to herself.
Or did I dream that?
sooo wish Sefan will be back and helena to casue good trouble in gh!!
I wasn’t watching GH when she was originally on, but I thought the scenes were sweet.
Courtney grew up. She was great. If anyone has ever lost a parent and wishes they could speak to them one more time and ask for their wisdom, strength or support, would get Court and Spencer’s scene. Who else but dear old mom can tell you its okay to take off your mask and accept the hand thats been dealt to you. I loved it and will always remember that scene.
Just an observation. Courtney’s history isn’t unlike Elizabeth’s when it comes to men…AJ, Jason, and Nickolas. Add Jax into the mix for Courtney, and Lucky, Rick and Jake for Liz. And yet both are considered the “nice” kind of girls on GH. Sometimes it seems the more “un-nice” girls are more monogamous. But then soaps would get boring after a while if they didn’t stir the pot.
Did like Courtney with Spencer. Not unlike Alan Q and Emily coming back occasionally as a “moral” compasses, though not enough, and they shouldn’t have let them die. So now Spencer has two mother figures…Courtney and Britt, who also is warm and caring for him, if not misguided sometimes.
I actually really liked Courtney when she first arrived in Port Charles and before they ruined her character.
I do have a memory of that slime ball Sonny checking her out before he knew she was his sister.
Harry…what would we do it we didn’t have such a variety of comments. It would be really dull. And su0000…as the champion to anything GH, she certainly adds color to what we all have to say. Plus, she and I both like sci-fi. Pretend a smiley face here.w
She always was a throwaway character
As long as this was a one-off appearance for Courtney, I found no harm in it Her motherly visitation with Spencer certainly wasn’t the “sappiest” of all the hokey nonsense we were subjected to over these last few days, that’s for sure! Quite frankly, if there were an opportunity to make a heavenly trade of Sparkle Pony for Courtney, I would jump at it in a New York minute and consider it to be an absolute bargain! (Let’s make a deal!)

‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up about the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing, during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).
On last week’s episodes of GH, Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door, he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned.
Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT
Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where Dante and Elizabeth previously, recalling, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, ‘Well, so much for that!'”
Fast-forward to early 2025 and as Zamprogna remembered it, “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said, ‘We’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth,’ My internal monologue is going, ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is … or not.”
Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprogna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric … and a big fan base with with Jason … and you know, you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

Photo: ABC
DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES
In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is 100% down for. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.”
Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit, The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”
You can check out Dominic’s visit to That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford below.
Now weigh-in: Are you rooting for Dante and Liz, or Dante and Ric at this juncture of the story, or neither guy for Elizabeth? Let us know your thoughts and picks via the comment section.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.
However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.
Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG
Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!
Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”
MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).
Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY
Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”
It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”
A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”
He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”
Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.”
So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.
Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.
Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

Photo: ABC
WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON
Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”
Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Courtesy/ABC
Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”
When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

MEMORABLE MICHAEL STORYLINES
One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”
“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good. I was working with Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.
A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?
As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”
Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.
