Alison Sweeney Inks New Deal With Days Of Our Lives!

Great news for Sami fans of Salem! Alison Sweeney (Sami) has inked a new deal to stay with Days of our Lives after 20 years with the series!
Sweeney told Soap Opera Digest, “I am super-excited to stay, and I am so honored that they asked me to stay. The job continues to surprise and challenge me. I have already shot my 20th anniversary episode, which airs on January 6, so I had this huge milestone and it’s been such an amazing journey. I love my job, I love the people I work with and I love Sami.”
So now legions of fans are waiting for their beloved EJami duo to finally start a full-blown romance … something that has been teased, and teased, and teased for years! With so many other successful outside projects other than the NBC soap, how do you feel about the news of Sweeney staying put? ‘Brilliant Minds’ Officially Canceled After 2 Seasons at NBC; DAYS Alum Al Calderon, OLTL Alum Teddy Sears and Zachary Quinto Among the Cast
After languishing on the bubble for months, on Friday, NBC handed down the decision and canceled the medical drama Brilliant Minds after two seasons.
Brilliant Minds stars Zachary Quinto as neurology physician Oliver Wolf, who’s character and the series is inspired by the life and books of neurologist. Oliver Sacks. The series focuses on the medical mysteries of the mind, as Wolf a larger-than-life neurologist and his team of interns explore the last great frontier, the human mind, while grappling with their own relationships and mental health.
The final six episodes of what will now be the end of its second and final season were already set to air beginning on May 27, after being pulled off the network schedule in February as viewership saw a steep decline. Brilliant Minds second season became the lowest-rated drama on linear TV viewing, which didn’t bode well fo a network renewal, although it had its hard core fan base.

There are some exceptional notables in the cast along with the talented Quinto that includes Days of Our Lives alum, Al Calderon (ex-Javi Hernandez) who joined the series in its second season as Nurse Nico Silva, and One Life to Live alum, Teddy Sears (ex-Chad Bennett) who plays Wolf’s love interest and fellow physician, Dr. Josh Nichols.
The rest of the talented cast includes: Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh LaThrop, Alex MacNicoll, Aury Krebs, Spence Moore II, Donna Murphy, John Clarence Stewart, and Brian Altemus.
In an ironic twist of fate on Thursday, April 30, Days of Our Lives finally revealed the actor who was Al Calderon’s successor in the role of Javi, when they announced that actor Jacob Martinez had now stepped into the role. Since DAYS tapes ten months ahead of streaming new episode, Calderon left in the spring of 2025, but will be seen in the part for the final part this month, and then on June 20, Martinez debuts as Salem’s new Javi.
Taking to his Instagram with a sorrowful and heartfelt post on the Brilliant Minds cancellation was Teddy Sears who wrote, “Thank you, Brilliant Minds. I got the call today and I didn’t want to hear, but I knew that it would come, You have to be a particular vintage to quote Don Henley from memory, but that’s the line that came to mind earlier today after I got off the phone with our inimitable showrunner Michael Grassi who delivered the news that NBC has cancelled the series”.

Sears continued, “To say that I feel sad to be moving on from these stories, this character, and this cast and crew just doesn’t paint the entire picture. I’m sad, sure. But I’m also deeply grateful that I got hired to play this part, so proud of the stories we told, and the other actors I got to play alongside. I’m excited to see what comes next, what adventures await, and terrified to be without a professional home. A quick and heartfelt thank you to everyone, all over the globe, who found us and found themselves in us, in our characters and in our stories. We wouldn’t have been able to tell them without you. And we still have 6 fresh episodes yet to air, and I do hope you tune in enjoy the remainder of the series. They’re the best we’ve done.”
As he wrapped up his sentiments, Sears signed off with, “The more I know, the less I understand. All the things I figured out I have to learn again. I’ve been trying to get down to the heart of the matter. But everything changes…Thank you, Brilliant Minds.”
The medical drama was created and executive produced by Michael Grassi alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Lee Toland Krieger, DeMane Davis, Jasmine Russ, Henrik Bastin, Jonathan Cavendish, Andy Serkis and Shefali Malhoutra.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Sophia Seemingly Plans to End Her Life, But Not Before Setting Fire to Johnny’s Apartment With Him Trapped Inside
The final few moments of the Thursday, April 30 episode of Days of our Lives, will pave the way, to what just may be the end of Sophia Choi’s (Rachel Boyd) life, but not as you may think!
After an unhinged Sophia paid a visit to Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman), maced him in the eyes, knocked him out and then tied up to a chair, now conscious, she lets him know that she holds him responsible for all the trouble and trauma she has gone through from adopting her child, and her being sent to a mental institution.
So instead of the unregistered gun Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) gave her to finish off Johnny, Sophia sets up a plan to light candle, use nail polish remover and turn on the gas on the stove to ultimately create a mass explosion, which although Johnny pleaded to her not to that to all the innocent people inside his apartment building, she doesn’t seem to care.

FIERY FACE OFF
The plan was supposed to be, after she takes care of Johnny she will toss the gun in the Salem River, then focus on payback to Holly Jonas before leaving town to start a new life.
Now, Sophia makes her exit, leaving Johnny to be a few moments away from an explosion or gas inhalation, when Chanel (Raven Bowens) comes home after awaiting the results of her mammogram. She sees Johnny tied up, as he panics and tells her to put out the flame on the candle, things go awry, and a fire has begun and everything may go up in flames with Johnny and Chanel inside.

A BROKEN SOPHIA
Back in her room, Sophia breaks down after reading the social media comments about her, she planted, and then starts writing a suicide or farewell note which says. “I’m tired of begging for forgiveness for my mistakes. All I wanted was to move forward, to be loved and understood. But it’s clear that I was never going to get that. Holly Jonas said that I was dead to her. So, as her former BFF, I’m going to make her dream a reality.”

A DEADLY TRAP
Now, the fate of Johnny, Chanel and Sophia will be revealed on tomorrow’s May 1st cliffhanger, which may be the end of Sophia when she crosses paths with Kirsten at the bridge near the river. We do know Rachel Boyd is no longer appearing in the show credits section and is now off contract with the soap.

Jacob Martinez is ‘Days of Our Lives’ New Javi Hernandez Replacing Al Calderon in the Role
Finally! The casting has been revealed as to just who would be Al Calderon’s successor in the role of Days of our Lives, Javi Hernandez. On Friday, April 30, the long-running soap opera revealed Jacob Martinez is taking on the part and he will first be seen this coming June 30th and then on all-new episodes streaming on Peacock.
As previously reported, the popular Calderon exited the soap opera last year to join the cast of the NBC primetime medical drama, Brilliant Minds as nurse Nico Silva, who in May will air the remainder of their second season. The series has been on the bubble for renewal by the network. His last episodes as Javi will also air this May on DAYS.
Since DAYS tapes ten months ahead of streaming, Martinez has been secretly ensconced in all the drama in Salem for quite some time. When viewers see the new Javi in story, we should learn what will happen in Javi’s relationship with Leo Stark played by Emmy winner, Greg Rikaart, plus his continued relationship with his relatives in the Hernandez clan. Currently, when Javi returned to Salem after taking care of his ailing father, and after the bust-up of his marriage to Leo thanks to Dimitri (Peter Porte), he claimed he had moved on with someone else while he was away from Salem.

Like Calderon before him, Martinez is a multi-talented actor and singer. Jacob’s resume is impressive having appeared in the musical In Pieces: The Musical at Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater and he was hand-picked by Joey Contreras to play the role of Grey. Other credits include: the short film, Memory Swim and the play Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage.
Martinez hails from Norfolk, Nebraska and appeared when he was very young at the Johnny Carson Theatre, and as DAYS fans know, Jacob is now working at the Days of our Lives studios, right where the “Tonight Show” is filled. In addition, Jacob Martinez is a graduate of The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA).
Taking to his Instagram on Thursday, April 30 once the news of his casting was revealed, Martinez, expressed, “Way too many people to thank in one post, so I’ll just say THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART to each and every person who continues to pour into me and encourage me to chase my dreams. I cannot even begin to express how grateful I am. I already feel beyond blessed, supported, and loved. See you all in Salem ⏳”

Sami is not bed hopping. To be honest I’m glad Sami doesn’t EVER sleep with EJ when they have their summer fling as DOOL likes to pair them in summer. Haha, Sami will never sleep with him unless it’s some kind of circumstances, LOL

AS/JS have been amazing with their love scenes. They’re different. EJ and Sami’s frst time, loving, passionate and sexy. Colleen and Samto’s first time, is how every woman’s first time should be. Grief!Sex, magnificent. Every human emotion was shown in those scenes. Unbelievable grief and anger, their emotions over riding their heads and erupting in a need that only each other could quench.
All three time were different and all three times were memorable.

A day without EJ and Sami is a day without sunshine! They are super great skilled actors that bring out the best in each others talents. We have a fan club that would like to see them have their own show. They add so much to the show and they are so chili pepper hot together. I have watched the show for 35 years and this type of talent comes along once in a life time. Thanks Alison and James for your hard work and passion for what you do for a living. It is recognized by infinite numbers of fans!

Please…. Sami and Rafe aren’t in Dante and Lulu’s league and can’t compare to what Dante and Lulu have. GH is much better at writing couples than Days of Our Lives is. Safe is not romantic, all they ever did was bang each other, they are a shallow couple. As soon a Rafe saw Carrie the sparks flew, they were romantic and sweet and didn’t have to have sex to make them a rootable couple.

I think they need more females on this show, maybe they could bring back Carrie. Both Lucas and Rafe liked her, that could be interesting.
I’d love for Carrie to return without Austin in tow … I think Christie Clark is as valuable to the show as Hope, Jen and Sami – she’s a part of Salem history and she needs to return. What would Rafe do when he catches a glimpse of her again? Maybe Austin got caught in an avalanche in the Swiss Alps 😀
I agree that they should bring Carrie back. Thought she and Rafe were better suited and had better chemistry than Safe. And then maybe Lucas could get into the mix with them. For some reason this last time with Austin on the show I just wasn’t feeling his character or relationship with Carrie.
I agree. Muldoon had more chemistry with Kate Mansi, and he just looked old and leathery in comparison to Christie. Carrie had fantastic chemistry with Rafe, and I loved how she had a budding friendship with Nicole. I think they should bring her back, have her reunite with Rafe, and her and Nicole can bring down Sami. Then, reunite Lumi and EJole.

I will NEVER take Egagme seriously!!! I didn’t watch for 10 months while Sami and EJ courted and flirted and SAFE was not together and I WILL NOT watch this farce that is Egagme!! So long, Days after 30 yrs viewing!!!

I agree. Someone said all Safe do is have sex. I think EJami is just full or near-kisses and loud breathing, or lusty thoughts. Sami and Rafe are in love and have a family together. EJ needs to be in a relationship with a woman that loves him, like Nicole. He did love her. I think he once did love Sami, but now all I’m seeing is him being obsessed with her.

Im thrilled to know that Sami (and Ali) remains a big part of the fabric of Days. Im just so sick of the Sami and Jr connection. Grownup Sami needs to scheme while interacting with others and I tune in for her Love in the Afternoon with Rafe. Ali and Galen heat up my screen and I can’t get enough of SAFE! I appreciate how the writers have emphasized the depth of their relationship thus far.

I’m really glad Ali is remaining a part of the fabric of Days too. I love her character. I would be more excited about this upcoming story if we knew we’d have a scheming Sami back instead of one who is just going to cave to a man who has been so heartless and abusive to her. Days wrote Ej villainous and asked me as a viewer to invest in the story they created. I’ve been watching and rooting for a Smart Sami to get the upper hand only to be disappointed by her continual gullibility. It’s just annoying anymore. Give them an exciting adversarial relationship that pits them against each other in devious ways. The children should be used to keep them from going to extreme dark depths. I think this type of relationship has more potential and is way more interesting. Passing Sami around so everyone has a turn just ruins the character.
Safe and their chemistry is just as exciting for me as others feel for their pairing of choice. The Safe story in particular has kept me tuning in because I’m a sucker for romance and they deliver. I’d like the writers to keep the emotional stakes going for them because their performances are so riveting. They just capture my heart.
I think that the writers have ruined Sami’s character by having her go from Lucas, to EJ, to Rafe, and maybe back to EJ within the span of a few months. It’s ridiculous and not believable to me. I agree that the writers have written EJ as villainous, but he is such a good actor that something about his portrayal makes me root for him (and apparently I am not the only one who feels this way). But I think that Sami has also done villanous things over the past 20 years, things just as bad as EJ and I hate how they try to whitewash her history to try to make her into Carrie type character. I want them both to be devious, but would like to see them together kind of like Scarlett O’Hara & Rhett Butler. I think we will just have to agree to disagree about the chemistry thing. Different people like to watch different things for entertainment on their tv shows.

The greatest thing about watching Sami and EJ is that while there’s always a sexual undercurrent, their relationship is about so much more than sex.
And Sami never has to use sex as a tool to make up for something she didn’t do, ahem, shower sex because Rafe was totally wrong and made Sami feel like she was.

I want Sami to be with either Lucas or Rafe. EJami is only about sex and loud-breathing, not to mention torturing each other. Sami has never loved or trusted EJ either, and I doubt she ever will. EJ needs to get his balls back and go after Nicole instead of being a wuss and groveling to Sami.
Ummm…Nicole is NO match for EJ. All she does is cower and enable him. She doesn’t challenge him like Sami does. EJ and Sami are equals, they give as good as they get. EJ wants to be his own man, and Sami inspires that in him.
Even if Sami doesn’t love EJ or never will love him, as you say, it still doesn’t change the fact that EJ will never truly love Nicole. It never went deep. It was more of a a friends with benefits kind of love.
Oh, and in case you don’t realize it, EJole is an abusive (emotionally and physically) relationship too. So if EJami shouldn’t be together because of their horrendous history, then neither should EJole.
And finally-I find it laughable that you say EJami is all about sex…I think you’re confusing them with EJole. ‘Cause what did they do, except talk about Sami? Yep, have sex 24/7. Like Safe, they have no substance. And unbelievably shallow and duller than dirt.
EJami, on the other hand, have only had sex 3 times in 6 years-twice were under duress. And they do share a connection, they have a bond that keeps them circling around each other. It’s safe to say that they’re definitely more than sex if they keep coming back to each other after everything they’ve put each other through.
And that’s all I have to say on this subject.
Lol, EJ has proven this past go-around that he does truly love Nicole. Yes they have sex often, but they also always cuddle and flirt and they have that sexual undercurrent. Same with Sami and Rafe, both are romantic couples. EJ and Nicole have hit each other, but hello, Nicole kidnapped his baby, and EJ cheated on her, not that these are excuses, but how would you react? Plus, not as much abuse as Sami and him have done. You cannot compare a slap to a shot in the head, or a bit of shoving to a rape. Also, Nicole does not cower, she is on EJ’s level, he even said she is cut from the same cloth as him. If he blackmails her, well, she blackmails him right back. She challenges him in this way, while Sami just runs away with another man and continues her loud-breathing when a guy gets close to her. Sami has made it clear to EJ over the years that he is never going to be her first choice, and a true EJ fan would want him to be with a woman he has loved, and a woman who loves him. That woman is Nicole, heck he even said to Nicole the other day, “We loved each other”. If he didn’t love Nicole, he wouldn’t have said this. EJ also always tells Nicole she is the only woman who accepts him for who he is, and he accepts her for who she is. She is truly the best DiMera wife because she doesn’t get in EJ’s way. Oh, and speaking of love, both James Scott and Ali Sweeney have said that what EJami feel for each other is not love.

I’m so glad to hear this news. Alison has always been a favorite of mine, and Sami as well. Hopefully the writers will give her the storyline she deserves, and let Sami and EJ have a chance to be together. It’s their time now. All other couples had their turn, and now it’s our turn. Hopefully we get the storyline we all deserve.
I’m thrilled that Ali has resigned. I really am but sadly I won’t be a part of this days journey of pairing Ejami together. It’s sick and twisted and its sends a bad message to all that its ok for rape victims to fall in love with their rapist and call it a fairytale romance. Just wrong. – “the baddies” plant chips in “the goodies” heads and then by using a remote controle of some sort to change them ito a different person and to control them for their own malevolent ends;
-memories can be wiped out and put on a cd;
-people can die and come back to life multiple times;
-events that happened during the Melaswen sl;
-how Rex and Cassie came to be and that whole sl;
-Marlena being “possessed”;
-there’s a highly incompetent “police force” consisting of max 4 cops (all belonging to the same sanctimonious family) and a few extras…LOL;

I understand that many fans do not like EJami because of their history. I do. But to try and to pontificate that them being together sends the “message” that it’s okay for victims to fall in love with their rapist or that abusive relationships is acceptable is blatant hypocritical drivel.
EJole-where EJ tried to kill Nicole, tried to strangle her a few times, was verbally abusive, cheated on her multiple times, including with her own sister-is also an abusive relationship. But of course there’s no outrage there, on the contrary they can’t extoll the virtues of that pairing enough. So EJole being together apparently does NOT send the “message” that women should remain with their abuser. Uh hmm…yeah right. Hypocrites!
IF female viewers (only the retarded imo) get any “messages” from Days about abusive relationships being okay, wouldn’t it be MORE LIKELY that it would be from seeing Safe and EJole front and center? Those type of relationships DO actually exist in the real world. How many times have I not heard of battered women staying with their partners either because a) they are too scared to leave or b) because they “love” each other. And men talking down to and being emotionally distant to their insecure girlfriends/wives, who beg for the former’s affection are also quite common in real life. Relationships like EJami’s, on the other hand, I have yet to hear of. There’s NO WAY in hell that couples like that exist in the world. I know of rape victims being forced to marry their rapist but that is very very rare and only happens in an Islamic culture. But a victim falling in love with her rapist? Nope, doesn’t happen. Not even remotely possible.
Some of these comments on here are so stupid. Nobody watches soaps for moral direction, but nobody watches soaps for S&M (EJami) either. If you want that, read 50 Shades of Grey. We watch soaps for romance, an EJami just aren’t it. After the horrible things they’ve done to each other, coupled with the fact that Sami just doesn’t love EJ and chooses other men over him all the time, I’d much rather see couples like Lumi, Safe and EJole, who, despite their problems, always come back together and work their relationship out. EJami never really come back together. They start to, then Sami has doubts and wants another man, then EJ makes her new man suffer, she finds out and yells at him.

But regarding your reply to me, I never called what Sami and EJ have as love, I like good storyline and whatever storyline works I will watch. As for EJ being an accessory to rape by not stopping Rafe 2 from having sex with Sami, my question is would you consider Stephano guilty of the same thing because how many times has he introduced look- a- likes to take the place of characters and they ended up having sex with unsuspecting spouses? Was Marlena being raped when she slept with the Pawn thinking it was her husband Roman? Was Bo being raped when Princess Gina posed as Hope. Or was Hope being raped by John when she thought she was Princess Gina and he thought he was someone else? The rape that fits the classic definition was when Jack raped Kayla, yet they redeemed him and no one mentioned it again.
Personally as a viewer I’m not a fan of using sexaul assault lightly in soaps and using your definition about what is sexual assault then Days has done that over and over. Okay, maybe I watched one too many soaps in my day that storylines blur together, but when did EJ raped Sami? I remember Lucas being in a life and death situation and Sami needed EJ’s help to save him, but he wouldn’t help her unless she slept with him. It was sleazy and sick of him to use Lucas life as means to get what he wanted, but was it rape if she argeed with his terms? Or was there another incident that I missed or is my definition of rape too narrow?

My definition of rape was not defined in my previous post but rather the aired broadcasts of the episodes in which the characters themselves established it. It was not aired that Stefano was an accessory to Sami’s continually rape of Rafe 2 but I believe the GA can use common sense to assume that he was. Notwithstanding your question of whether Ej raped Sami if she agreed w/his terms in my opinion is YES. Why? Because Sami was exploited in light of her desperate attempt to save Lucas. Who in their right soapy mind would allow their loved one to die but that life is totally dependent on whether a creep can help you based upon whether he can “get off” on you. This comment on James Scott acting is ridiculous. He is the best actor they have on the show. His character is very volatile and emotional, so he has to portray that range of emotions. His scenes with Chandler Massey were wonderful and the character of Will was never so interesting as when he was paired with EJ as his employee/protege. The writers made a huge mistake stopping that storyline. Oh and I think he was nominated for a couple of Emmys in recent years, so apparently someone disagrees with your assessment. Don’t remember any other men from the show besides Chandler getting nominated recently.
I completely agree with you. When I read the comment about James Scott and his acting ability I was speechless. Anyone with a pulse can see that the man can act. As a matter of fact sometimes I believe the show actually limits him. He is so powerful I dont think the writers can match his skills with good material. I also believe Eric Martsolf is a great actor but the writers have got to write just as consistently for him as they do James Scott.
I think JS is a good actor, but EJ belongs with Nicole. I would rather Sami be with Rafe or Lucas. That’s good romance right there!
Exit stage left for this viewer. EJami has had many chances to bring up the ratings and they fail everytime. It’s because all the other fanbases make their exit till the show is entertaining again. Only EJami’s find them exciting, no one else.
Really? They failed? Grief sex last year had very good ratings and so did the weeks after the cliffhanger and EJami were a huge focus, so I wll have to wholeheartedly disagree. I don’t think the pairing of Safe has ever done anything for the ratings because they are as dull as dirt.

The two times the ratings spiked it was because EJ and Sami were front and center. Once in November when they thought Johnny was dead and the last time right before the Olympics when it looked like they were FINALLY going to get together.
Both times the ratings went up and both times the writers went backwards and the ratings dropped again.
As MF said in his OP, the writers TEASE the fans with EJami but never follow thru, they’ve never actually gotten them together.
Amen to that….6 long years and as JS said…they have never really written a love story, a couples story for Ejami.
They are LONG over due and I love the gray but romantic element they bring to Days. The show has enough straight laced “good” pairings its time for one that has some gray in the middle. Sami and EJ are both ant-hero/heroine characters and they are at their best when they are true to character and not trying to become too pure or too dark.
Their chemistry is unmatched….and they have never been official yet! They are going to knock the GA’s socks off!! GO EJAMI!! 😀

Wow, now I feel old, because I remember her first show and I can’t believe it has been 20 years. Personally I was rooting for Sami to end up with Austin, and when he came back to town last year, I had my hopes up, but now it looks like that ship has sailed for good. Right now, given her history with both EJ and Rafe I don’t understand why either one of them would want her and vice versa. Perhaps it is time for Sami to get a new love interest.
I think if she can’t be with Rafe, she should be with Lucas.

How was Alison able to sign this deal when the future of DOOL is still very much in question? I believe that Sony’s contract with NBC to air DOOL expires in September 2013, with an option for 2013-14. The ratings for the show are dismal, especially in the key young female demos.
The fact that DOOL shoots so far in advance (3-4 months ahead, I think) is a major negative for the show, IMO. If stories clearly aren’t working and registering with viewers, it takes at least as long as that for any writing revisions to be seen on the screen, assuming they’re done right away. Heck, about a month ago DOOL shot its 12,000th episode, which won’t air until January! Most soaps, even the ones recently cancelled, tape(d) only about 5-6 weeks ahead.
Given this production schedule, it stands to reason that NBC would probably have to announce their renewal decision by February or March, at the latest. DOOL’s numbers during this November sweeps are going to be critical, and these latest fall ratings can’t bode too well for its future. In the event that NBC does decide to cancel DOOL, I’d hope they give the writers and producers enough time to pen a proper and satisfying ending.
The Days writers blew it after the Olympic cliffhanger. They had brought in well over 400,000 viewers with that set up, and EJami was front and center. Then suddenly the stories got flipped, and Rafe was thrown into EJami’s story and ratings soon took a dive. Overall, the writers don’t know how to keep the viewers they gain. They do a bunch of stunts to wheel fans in, but they don’t build on story.
Also, 3 month filming ahead is going to effect them a lot. If stories aren’t working you can’t see any change for 3 months. I know it saves them money, but to what end.
They pull Sami and EJ out when they need folks to tune in, they need their ratings up during sweeps and then side line them & fans tune back out.
If they do the bait and switch eventually, fans will keep biting.

There is a segment of the audience who want fare that’s more adult oriented. Sons of Anarchy, American Horror Story, Dexter, etc. Why shouldn’t DAYS appeal to a broader audience and give couples everyone can love. Sugary sweet couples and hot and spicy couples? Something for everyone. If anyone can’t handle hot and spicy or don’t like sugary sweet, that’s what the remotes for.

A couple weeks back on this website there were over 100 posts supporting EJ and Sami being together. I guess these are the people you refer to as bullies. I seriously doubt the writers are influenced by public opinion, if they were the show would be a mess. Wait a minute– maybe that explains it, instead of writing for ratings they should just write a good storyline for a change, for that is what is killing this show, not because Sami isn’t with Rafe.
Reading these comments I see a lot of anti EJ and Sami spammers who have nothing better to do than spew crap all over the comment section. It’s so obvious the agenda going on.
Yes, Sami and Rafe had several years being catered to with the writing and suddenly the “bullies” have “won”. If only this were true EJami would have happened years ago.
NBC/SONY doesn’t respond to “bullying”. They respond to the ratings & what will bring eyes to the commercials.
Obviously, Safe isn’t bringing enough eyes, but during the CH and GriefSex, eyes were brought to NBC and that isn’t bullying, that’s the bottomline all businesses pay attention to.
I think people have misunderstood what I was trying to say or else they are responding to the wrong comment. My point was a good storyline is at the heart and soul of any soap opera. When writers are driven by who likes who and they keep changing course based soley on ratings — the storyline suffers. I still maintain a good well written storyline will bring in viewers regardless of who is with who. If Days tanks it won’t because Sami was with EJ or with Rafe. It tanked because the storylines and characters were all over the place and boring.
As for Sami- people forget she is not a heroine. She is the bad girl who kidnapped her baby sister, tricked Austin into believing she slept with him, decieved him about Will being his father, shot a man in the head, etc etc etc and on soaps bad girls never get their man. Carrie was a heroine she got the guy. Jennifier was a heroine she got her guy. Hope is a heroine she got her guy. Sami is lumped in with the Nicole Walkers and the Kate Roberts of the soap world and those women will have relationships, but in the end they never get to live happily ever after no matter who they are with.
I don’t see how I’m a bully since I very rarely post anywhere but whatever. I guess if I’m not a fan of Sami and Rafe that automatically makes me a bully. I hope the writers will bring back Carrie for Rafe, they were a much better match and CC and GG have a ton of chemistry. I will never forget the way Rafe couldn’t keep his eyes off of her when she was rubbing ice all over herself, they were so sexy and romantic. Cafe Forever and Always.
I thought the best thing about Carrie and Rafe was that Carrie was still allowed to be Carrie. She didn’t have to pretend to be someone she wasn’t, she was perfect for him just like she was.
Yes Cafe forever! Safe is good too, but I think Sami is destined to end up with Lucas.

True, EJami fans can be vocal, but in general they’ve always respectful. Anti-EJami fans are just as loud (if not more so) and they’re often quite NASTY-even going personally attacking people who like EJami as “sick”.

Very happy for Ali….but cannot support the EJ/Sami storyline. Mr. Scott may refer to their everending story as a “fairy tale,” but I totally disagree. When you love someone, you don’t put a psychotic felon in her bed to have sex with her, thinking it’s her husband….that’s called rape. I don’t see much love there, not to mention all his manipulations just so she can be seduced by him. If this is what Ken Corday is investing his “lock, stock and barrell” in, I’m afraid he blew it! I’ve watched Days since day one…. sure, we had storylines of rape and other soapy situations…but this s/l, at this time and place for women does not apply. Sami is supposed to be capable of running a company and yet is so stupid and be so gullible to all of EJ’s little tricks and charms… please! Days insults every woman capable of thinking! If EJ has to work so hard to get Sami to love him, you’d think he’d realize it just ain’t there! Days going with Ejami is a huge mistake……. sometimes sex is just sex, and a bad situation is just that. With so many avenues to take EJ, maybe with another female love interest… and Sami, with her mischievous schemes, and so totally in love with Rafe…let it play out. I’m so disappointed with the two week Rafe & Sami romance build up, only to be dashed into nothing. Days never really tells a story any more, all it does it tease us for fan interest…. unfortunately for Days, there aren’t too many Samis out there….

Sami was young then…not a mother of four. She has had years of experiences and maturing. Can we all say that we would repeat our past mistakes knowing the pain they caused. A soap isn’t like real life, but it should be realistic to a point… Sami’s bouncing from man to man as a mother of four has turned her into a morally low character…this past year she has been written OOC and it’s disappointing to see. She admits to Rafe just last week how she now realizes all EJ has done and what a fool she was to believe him….but soon we’ll see her written as falling under his spell again! This is just repetitive and truly bad writing with absolutely no imagination. I’m will be so saddened if this truly happens….there could be so much written in a positive light for Sami, but as long as they continue to attach her to EJ, she will continue to lose the admiration of the many who have always stood by her.
She won’t lose me as a fan if they go with EJami, and I’m sure there’s many who feel the same way I do. EJ apologized for what happened that night and even Sami herself said it wasn’t like that. She was hurt because of the way he treated her after. Sami has moved on and so have majority of the viewers IMO. Agenda driven posters mean nothing, and it’s obvious that’s all it is with people screaming Rape whenever EJami are close to getting together again.
Sami has been written OOC with Rafe. She becomes Carrie 2.0 and lose her fire. Ali herself have said she prefers a grey Sami instead of the goody goody she tries to be with Rafe. Majority of Sami fans have been her fans from the start when she was the bad and bitchy girl. We weren’t rooting for that Carrie wanna be we saw these last couple of years.
Karen, then I think Sami should be put with Lucad. They are the gray couple of the soap. I hate to see EJ become the boring goody two shoes he is now because Sami insists he avoid the DiMeras and “change”. You EJamis claim you want the gray couple, but you just get a sappy boring relationship. You cannot have your cake and eat it too.

Happy for Ali but I’m so disappointed in the possible pairing of Sami n EJ. I will not be watching if they pair EJ and Sami together! SAFE is all I care to watch! I guess I will have to start watching GH TOO!

So i’m going back to my penthouse and tune back to GH which was my favorite soap back in the day. DOOL has broken promise after promise. First we were told there would be more vets, 1/2 of them are gone. Then we were told we’d be getting more romance and adventure. Where is the romance and where is the adventure??

Glad to hear that Alison is continuing. Sami may make you crazy and you want to shake her at times because she does things that you just can’t believe, but she keeps the show hopping, lively, and entertaining.
I suppose this is not going to be popular in this venue, but I would not mind seeing an Ej/Sami romance for real. I know they have a terrible past ( I was not watching when the worst happened many years ago, so maybe I do not know or feel the impact as much eventhough I can understand how people feel), but Ej and Sami (JS and AS) can also be very good together and have quite a chemistry and dynamic. They can be funny together, fiery, sexy, passionate, angry, etc. so it makes for dramatic, emotional viewing. With that said, whether they should be together ‘forever’ or for a very long term, not sure, but I would not mind that they finally have a ‘real’ relationship for awhile, and we see how it goes, ratings, etc., – if it works, they should continue, if not, they can separate. I do not dislike Rafe and Sami, but I am getting tired of the Ej/Sami/Rafe triangle.
Your opinion isn’t unpopular at all. Many fans Love EJami and want the romance. Otherwise they still wouldn’t be an option on Days and still be in each others stories the way they are. The comments sound agenda driven, and I’m pretty sure a person is probably spamming up a storm to drown out the EJami support before theiir fans come to comment. I guess it’s that serious for some.

EJ and Sami have a lot of potential and I would like a different story written for them, instead of the complete garbage that’s been written for them in the past.

So happy to hear about Ali, and I’m even more excited to finally see Days give EJami a real shot. I’ve been watching Days with my mom for years, and it’s great to know one of my favorite character will still be around. Ali and James have amazing chemistry, and make EJ and Sami one of the hottest pairings I’ve seen on Soaps.
So glad that Alison will be staying on Days. The character of Sami has become one of the most iconic on the show and it wouldn’t be,the same without her. Besides, if there’s no Sami, then there can’t be an Ejami pairing, and the possibility of EJami is what brought me back to the show in 2009, and is what has kept me watching through some pretty dark times for EJ and Sami. I’m excited by the preview that Days is putting “lock, stock, and barrel” behind them. What an exciting, dynamic, passionate couple they can be with good writing!

Ali delighted your staying with Days can’t wait for our Ejami reunion loved KC what he said about our couple in SOD its time to end Safe they are a ratings failure when ever Ejami got together the Demos have gone grief sex proved this last year and when they were together in August ratings were good they going went down when Rafe came back into Sami’s life. Rafe needs to move like Lucas has done he will never belong with Sami EJ is only man that loves and understands her even Sami said was herself with EJ. Ejami fans outnumber Safes by a mile i think NBC and Sony know that so many have left because of Safe and i think your see them all coming back to watch again. EJ has been destroyed because this Rafe character and the fans sick of it James Scott is much better than GG by a mile in my opinion and that nothing against GG i just think James is the better actor and EJ chemistry with Sami is mind blowing.

Ejami fans never had Ejami in the way we want them and that is Sami loving him over Rafe and Lucas its our turn now and i still say and i believe our fan base is much bigger than yours by a mile, I don’t want to get into a row with you anyway this is about Ali and her staying with Days i am delighted to see her stay another year.

Last 6 years we seen Sami lust after Lucas and Rafe while she was with EJ you think Ejami fans want to watch that crap the sux summer of 2010 was all Safe and we had Ejami together while she was thinking of Rafe your couple is the one that tanked the ratings when they had Sami shoot him and Safe reunion ratings were something like 1.7 i think Ken Corday finally realises who was tanking the ratings and it wasn’t Ejami it was Safe because no ones like that Rafe except for a few fans EJ is a much more popular than Rafe will ever be. Rafe is a phony he prends to be a good guy when he nothing but a bent cop who breaks the rules when suits at least EJ doesn’t pretend to be someone he is not that is why the GA love him so much he is a bad biy with a heart as well.

I’m glad Ali is sticking around. Sami is one of my favorite characters so this news is great to hear. As for ejami… I’m super excited! I’m ready for the writers to go all in with this couple. No more teasing! I’ve never felt a better match for Sami than EJ, though Brandon did come close. EJ loves every facet of her completely and never tries to change her. It’s intriguing and I would love to see Sami admit she loves him (because we all know she does), let go of her fears and be with him.
I’m so happy that Ali is staying with Days for another year. What an accomplishment for her to reach her 20th anniversary with Days when she’s only in her 30’s. But then, this is a woman who’s quite adept at accomplishing a number of things, from actress to TV show hostess to spokesperson for a variety of causes. This is a woman who sets goals for herself and then achieves them. A quick look at Ali Sweeney’s life makes the rest of us look like giant slackers.
I’ve loved me some Sami Brady since Ali first brought us this rebel who was willing to go to extremes and who could come up with the most convoluted plots, all to get what she wanted. With her desperate need for love and acceptance, Sami quickly won over my heart. She’s been my favorite character to root for over the years, and I love her in spite of scheming she might do that leaves me shaking my head and muttering ‘Sami, Sami, Sami’.
I am so looking forward to seeing this new relationship that appears to be developing between Sami and EJ. It’s the right time for it to happen for my girl Sami. After spending years trying to be good enough for her family to accept her, it looks as if Sami’s finally going to come to terms with the fact that what’s right for her and what her family thinks is right for her are two different things, and she’ll finally follow her heart. Besides, I love the fact that Sami and EJ are both going to have the family they’ve always wanted and that Johnny and Sydney are finally going to have their two parents united. It’s a win-win situation for everyone. And, truly, I can’t wait to see what Sami and EJ can accomplish together, rather than being at odds.
My hat’s off to Ali. She’s incredible. I wish her many more years on the show.
The question is “how do we feel about the news of Sweeney staying put”? I’m loving it! I’ve loved her work on Days over the years and even though there are times the viewers want to spank Sami for being bad, the fact that the character invokes so much emotion tells that Ms. Sweeney is doing her job and quite well, I might add! I do hope that for 20 years of loyal service to the show, Days does something special for her!
I’m grateful that even though she has other projects outside of Days, including first and foremost her family, the show is quite important to her enough to stay a bit longer. Can’t wait to see what Sami has in store for everyone, including herself!

I am thrilled that AS has re-signed and that Corday has finally realized that his attempts to ruin EJ and Sami have failed and that many fans simply love them together, and yes, they have had many romantic moments, among the bad.
I’m tired of being teased and had walked away from DAYS soon after the CH ended and Rafe transported back into Sami’s life. Watching Sami grovel to a man who constantly puts her down and disapproves of her isn’t romantic at all. At least when EJ and Sami fight, it’s as equals. He treats her as an adult, who loves her unconditionally and more importantly respects her, something Rafe has proven he does not.
Regarding the “rapist and his victim” this isn’t new ground. DAYS broke that taboo with Bill and Laura Horton. General Hospital rode that wave and produced the #1 Supercouple of all time, they were smart enough not to cut their noses off to spite their faces and I don’t know, but I don’t think there was a rash of women falling in love with their rapists after that, then again, some women have a low opinion of other women if they really believe we’re so gullible that we can’t separate a soap opera from our real lives. It’s kind of ironic that many of those same fans have absolutely no issue with a woman being with a rapist, as long as it isn’t ‘his victim’ which doesn’t make an ounce of sense. Why don’t they have a problem with EJ being with anyone, or Sami for that same reason?
All I know is what I want from a daytime drama, and watching Sami pretending to be someone she isn’t for a man isn’t entertaining AND if women are taking lessons from a soap on how to behave, that would be more harmful, more likely to happen, then anything between Sami and EJ.
It’s past time for the writers to finally see what so many of us see, the chemistry that puts the 4th of July fireworks to shame.

1. They have a problem with EJami because EJ raped Sami-which I can understand. But then they turn around and want this “rapist” with another woman (Nicole)-who he’s abused emotionally and physically. Wha…?!
2. This soap is just too absurd to take it seriously…Speaking for myself, I find it IMPOSSIBLE to apply real life logic and values to this soap in particular. Often I find myself saying “Man this soap is so dumb.” It also looks incredibly fake, has no soul and is so outdated with it’s black/white storytelling. It’s not how the real world works. Compare it to any british soap and you know that the latter are vastly superior. Furthermore, despite liking EJami (btw I HATED what happened between them on 12/29) I have absolutely no intention of falling in love with my rapist. Lmao…Come on people. I highly doubt that is even remotely possible in the real world.
Also I feel really sorry for those that think DOOL is sending “messages”….Wha…?!
DAYS isn’t sending any messages. If it were why aren’t their cries of outrage over the way the SPD is portrayed. The medical staff wouldn’t know a HIPPA violation if it bit them in the backside.
I understand that there are fans who don’t like EJami. That’s fine. I don’t like Safe or Jarlena, but getting on their high horse and trying to preach from some moral superiority or question MY morals speaks more about them than it does about me.
I do know the difference between real life and reel life something I’m not sure some do.
