All My Children Alum Kim Delaney Joins The Cast of CHICAGO FIRE!

Pine Valley’s Jenny Gardner, who is all grown up and had a successful career in primetime television and films, has landed a primo role on NBC’s hit drama, Chicago Fire!

Casting news has revealed that Kim Delaney is joining the show in Season 6 where she will play the role of Jennifer Sheridan, the mother of Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney).

According to Deadline, Kim’s new role as Jennifer Sheridan is described as “warm, scripture-quoting and church-going. At one point she may have partied like it was 1979, but now it looks like she’s on the path of the straight and narrow. If you ask her, she’s moved on from the past, namely her messy divorce from her ex-husband Benny (Treat Williams), but old habits die very hard.”

Chicago Fire is currently on hiatus until after the Winter Olympics, when it begins again on March 1st.  As viewers know, in the last episode prior to the break, Kelly and Casey (Jesse Spenver) were seen jumping off a roof of a building while it was in flames in an exciting cliffhanger.

So, glad to know Kim is back on TV in a primetime role, following her last regular series gig on Army Wives? Comment below!

Oh, how I loved, loved, loved Jenny and Greg from All My Children. I was only a toddler-plus when I used to watch the show with my mother, but I thought Jenny Gardner was the most beautiful girl on television! My childish heart was devastated when she died in the jet ski accident. I always wished that she would return as a regular to the daytime series. I just adored Jenny! What memories!!

Loved Kim on AMC — her 3 year story arc was one of the show’s all time best. Jenny and Greg, Jenny and Jesse running away to New York, Jenny getting mixed up with pornographer Jackie Diamond which inadvertently led to Greg’s paralysis when the doctored tape was shown at the student union, and Jenny’s modeling career forced me to buy my first VCR so I wouldn’t miss a minute. Every time I hear “Just You and I” I think of Greg and Jenny.

She was also a standout on NYPD BLUE paired with Jimmy Smits.

What great memories of what daytime television used to be-recording it everyday on VHS, character development, relationships (friendships and love stories), true life stories that people could relate to, social issues, cliff-hanger Fridays, etc. I loved Jenny and Greg, too. They were the first super couple that I loved to watch, followed by Frisco and Felicia on General Hospital. What great memories.

Doesn’t seem likely that she’s old enough to be Severide’s mom. Yeah, he probably looks older than he is with the prematurely gray hair and all, but I’m having a hard time picturing those two as mother & son.

I don’t watch Chicago Fire. But…since I’ve been such a big fan of Kim Delaney ever since her All My Children days, I’ll give it a look.

Later.

Over the next several days in New York, some very familiar faces to daytime soap fans are busy filming episodes of a new series entitled Melange, which stars Morgan Fairchild (most recently ex-Angelica, DAYS).

One Life to Live & All My Children Reunion Event Photo Gallery

Over the weekend, actors who appeared on two beloved legacy soap operas: All My Children and One Life to Live took part in a reunion event held over GH Fan Club Weekend.  And while the fans in attendance were excited to see some of their favorites, it was the former cast members themselves getting to see their former co-stars for the first time in years which made the event all the more touching.

Then, in big surprise to the attendees, none other than former One Life to Live star, Nathan Fillion showed up to give hugs to his former castmates including: Erin Torpey (Ex-Jessica), and James (Ex-Max) and Kassie DePaiva (Ex-Blair), among others.  Fillion, who has gone on to primetime success with his show Castle, and his upcoming new series on ABC, The Rookie, has never forgotten his beginnings in show business as Joe Buchanan!  Who can forget his on-screen affair with Robin Strasser’s Dorian, which sent Viki (Erika Slezak) into orbit!

Kassie DePaiva (now Eve on DAYS) told Michael Fairman TV on Fillion’s appearance that she had reached out to him to let him know about the event: “I knew the fans would love it.  He is very proud of his roots.”

When asked about seeing the original Blair, Mia Korf, at the same event whom she had never met, Kassie said, “I went, ‘There’s the real Blair,” but it was really nice meeting her.  You know with One Life to Live actors, even if you didn’t work with somebody there is such a camaraderie, which makes this show so special.”

All My Children fans were thrilled to see appearances by Rebecca Budig (Ex-Greenlee), Vincent Irizarry (Ex-David), Jordi Vilasuso, who will soon be seen in his new role on Y&R, and played Dr, Griffin Castillo in Pine Valley, and many more.

Check out our photo gallery of some of the past cast from both AMC and OLTL who showed up to say “hello again” to each other and the fans below.  Then, let us know if it makes you miss Pine Valley and Llanview all the more in the comment section, and which photo you liked the most!

Cameron Mathison Named New Co-Host Of Home & Family!

Home & Family has found their new co-host following the exit of Mark Steines naming Cameron Mathison as his replacement.

The former All My Children star, where he played Ryan Lavery, and more recently Entertainment Tonight correspondent, has previous experience with the Hallmark Channel morning talk show.

According to Deadline who broke the news: “Mathison had been an occasional guest co-host on Home & Family since 2013 and has became a frequent substitute in the two months since Steines’ exit. He will continue to guest host for the rest of the summer, switching to full-time co-hosting duties alongside Debbie Matenopoulos when the new seventh season of Home & Family launches in September.”

Mathison is a great fit for the series which airs Monday through Friday at 10AM, given that he also frequently stars in Hallmark movies.  As for Steines, the longtime host, was abruptly let-go back in May after five and a half years with the series.
