Billy Miller Memorial Scholarship Endowment Created at His Alma Mater to Help Others ‘Realize Their Dreams’

Two months since three-time Daytime Emmy-winning actor, Billy Miller passed away, the beloved All My Children (ex-Richie), General Hospital (ex-Jason/Drew) and The Young and the Restless (ex-Billy) star, will now have a permanent scholarship endowment in his honor at the University of Texas at Austin which was Miller’s alma mater.
Through the scholarship, it will be able to help radio/television and film undergraduate students with financial need. Billy’s family and friends have established this permanent scholarship in his memory, naming it the William Jon Miller II “Billy Miller” Memorial Scholarship. They hope the endowment will be a legacy to his life and love of acting.
Before becoming soap-famous, Billy graduated from the the university’s department of Radio-Television-Film (RTF) at the Moody College of Communication. On its official website, they shared the news of this special memorial scholarship and how Miller died at the age of 43 after surrendering his life to bipolar depression, which he struggled with his whole life.

Photo: JPI
Megan Hubbell, Billy’s sister, expressed, “We want something positive to be held in his name in perpetuity through the University he loved. He would be honored to know that even in death, he can help someone else realize their dreams.”
She added how she hoped her immensely talented brother will be remembered: “I hope BJ (as Billy was known by to his friends and family) is remembered for the kind-hearted, silly, funny, goofy, generous, beautiful soul that he was His megawatt smile, deep belly laugh and gorgeous mug were gifts on screen, but his true self was a bright light that will be carried with us forever.”

Photo: JPI
According to Miller’s family, Billy had his picks of schools and UT was his first choice. When he first came to the university, Billy started in the zoology program before switching to radio-television-film, where he felt he belonged. Miller was one of just 20 students at the time accepted into the department’s prestigious production-sequence program.
“BJ was extremely proud to be a Texas Longhorn and always remembered his time there fondly,” Hubbell said. “The time he spent at UT allowed him the space to explore who he wanted to be and what he wanted to accomplish.”

Photo: JPI
In honoring her brother’s work and strength to persevere in the often heartbreaking world of entertainment, Megan related: “I always admired the guts it took to go after a dream in Hollywood that so many people tried to discourage. He heard, ‘You’ll never make it’ more times than I care to count, but he used those comments as fuel and said, ‘Watch me.’”
Miller’s roles went far beyond those on daytime soap operas, as throughout his career he played major parts in primetime’s Suits, Ray Donovan and Castle to name but a few.

In his death, Billy’s family is encouraging people to take stock of their own mental health. “BJ would want anyone struggling with intrusive thoughts to seek professional help,” Hubbell said. “Do not suffer in silence or try to muscle through on your own. Mental health is vitally important and shouldn’t be spoken about in silos behind closed doors but rather in open forums with open arms. Shame has no place in the discussion to seek help.”

‘Live with Kelly and Mark’ Scores Touchdown in Ratings with Taylor Swift-Inspired ‘Halloween: The Eras Show’ Delivering Largest Audience In Over A Year

More great numbers for Live with Kelly and Mark. The talk shows Live’s Halloween: The Eras Show scored an impressive 2.9M total viewers on October 31, making it the most-watched Halloween episode in four years, according to the Nielsen ratings.
The episode also delivered some of the highest ratings in seven months for the morning show, particularly among women 18-49 and 25-54. Live’s Halloween: The Eras Show also pulled in a 1.92 household rating, as well as a 0.47 among women in the key 18 to 49 demo and a 0.69 among women 25 to 54. Those are up over the last two years of Halloween episodes and since Consuelos first started in the co-host chair back in April.
According to Deadline, Live’s Halloween: The Eras Show, also pulled in the largest audience numbers for a single episode in more than a year and half.

As is tradition with “Live’s Halloween” episodes, they are always filled with costume and pop culture moments and special guest surprises. Ripa and Consuelos were right in step with the biggest social media love story at the moment; that of Swift and her burgeoning romance with Kansas City Chiefs Tight End, Travis Kelce.
During Halloween week which started on Monday, October 30, Live was up up 11% versus the week prior in total viewers, and averaged 2.6 million viewers throughout the week. Year-over-year, the talk show was up that week by 15% in terms of total viewers. It looks like the former All My Children’s alum on-screen chemistry is just as palpable as it off-screen; as the two marrieds are making quite a successful run together on morning television.

Daytime Emmy Lead Actress Nominee Luncheon; The Tradition Continues
loved it…Glad that both shows are back! Missed my OLTL everyday but not no more. Thank you Prospect Park for making the soap fans dreams a reality!
I am glad the ratings are being tracked. Hoping that they break some records today.
This news just thrills me to my socks!! I have already watched both shows twice and will at least once more today!!
All I can say is yayayayay.. Trevor St. John is on the show…….yayayayay
TSJ is recurring.. he’ll be gone soon.
Some tears, some anger ,because each episode only 30 minutes. But finally I can watch both of my favorite soaps-AMC and OLTL.thank you with all my heart PP and all the actors, who went back to give us fans this joy, love you all !!!!!!
Hour shows were only 36 minutes or so. These are 27 so less than 10 mins different.
But the regular show is only 37 min long the commerical so reall it’s about the same length as tv. .
There should be no anger. Be happy we have them back at all! We worked a lot these past two years and PP heard us and worked right alongside us – even if we didn’t know it then! 🙂
I will be watching every freaking day!!
I want to send out a very special thank you to you Michael Fairman…..thank you so much for fighting the good fight along side all of the soap fans, and thank you so much for always keeping us informed with what’s going on in the land of soaps.
I agree! Today was a happy day for me where the soaps were concerned. I too want to thank Mr. Michael Fairman for supporting these shows, the fans and letting our voices-wishes and and wants be heard!
I too want to say THANK YOU for giving me back a piece of my heart. LOVE the shows. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the fight you kept to get our shows back!
I watched both but I preferred AMC. OLTL is really geared for a younger audience. I will continue to watch both for awhile to see if OLTL gets better. I am so glad to hear that both soaps are doing well. Yea!!! Now that the shows are doing so well, hopefully more of the original actors will come back.
I disagree. OLTL is geared for a…brighter audience? I can’t see a storyline involving a political scandal (Dorian) on AMC: it wouldn’t really work.
Political scandals require intelligence?
So, people who watch AMC are dumb, while people who watch OLTL are bright and intelligent. Thanks for clarifying that for this moron, who would have thought any competition between the shows would have been buried when BOTH got a chance at revival.
Fans we should all give ourselves a hand for supporting our revived soaps on hulu as well as OWN. To be honest, I enjoy both soaps equally because they are more realistic now than before. I don’t think that OLTL is geared toward a younger audience, I think that fans are expecting the soaps to be as before. Yes I miss the old cast but I enjoy how PP has revived the soaps to stay current with society now. I have a feeling we will see more of the old cast in the future when they see how well the soaps are doing. To sum it all up, I love AMC& OLTL and thank you PP,
I don’t know that I agree with OLTL being geared to a young audience. I’m already hooked into Viki and Clint’s impending marriage and the next chapter in the Viki and Dorian feud. How will Bo and Nora cope with their adult son? What mess in Todd into now? What is the meaning of that circular symbol and tattoo? Poor Tea looks for lost. And best of all, what about the man in the hoodie? What does seeing him mean for our folks? Stay tuned.
the man in the hoodie is victor, todds twin. I loved oltl, but thought amc was just ok, think it is more tuned to the younger crowd.
would be better if they would tell us what happened 5 years ago!
I think Llanviewer was trying to be kind and not spoil the surprise of who the hooded man was for those who may not have seen the episode yet.
As for AMC…they will tell us what happened in time. We are here for the story….
Disappointing I can’t watch Hulu on the IPad as it doesn’t support Flash player which is required.
Photon app is one time fee of 1.99 & is a flash browser 🙂 Works Great!
I watched them on my iPad with my morning coffee on the patio today. Which version of iPad do you have?
The newest one.
I have the newest version also…just bought my iPad mini a couple months ago…and it would not let me watch it either. I am, at the moment satisfied watching it at hulu.com. I can watch it on my laptop anywhere. 🙂
HULU on the ipad or iphone can be watched with a paid subscription to Hulu Plus for $7.99 a month. Totally worth it! But if you want to watch for free you can watch it on a regular computer at hulu.com
I agree with Kathy, AMC seemed better than OLTL. They have changed the characters and it will be interesting to see how it unfolds. Glad they are both back!
I disagree, OLTL was way better than AMC. It was current and the story easy to follow. So glad both shows are back!!
oltl much better than amc. But hoping amc gets better.
I love both, but I liking the more laid back quality of AMC…so far OLTL has been too loud…I guess I am just too old for the bar scene and music! LOL
I loved them and love watching on-line. Can watch when I want to and pause when I need to. Hopefully OLTL will be online for another 40 yrs. Woo Hooo!!!!!!!!!
Watched both shows and loved them. And the best part is being able to see them at our convenience! This is going to change everything: the internet IS the new TV. 🙂
OMG Both shows were awesome! It was great seeing Jesse and Angie still so much in love! It was wonderful to see the kids all grown up on AMC and how they unfold the mystery behind the shooting is going to be awesome! Whoever it was it changed Pine Valley and A LOT of the residents including Brooke!
OLTL was beyond my expectations, Loved every second of it epically that ending!! I LOVE BEING RIGHT IT FEELS SO GOOD!!!! Viki and Clint, Bo and Nora, Shelter, and that ending was just beyond!
I have NO complaints at all, Except I don’t like seeing my Girl Nat so missing John! Bring him home!!
We must have some angst! lol
I loved both episodes of AMC and OLTL today, and I will watch them everyday from here on out! So happy to see the veteran characters, and intrigued by some of the new ones. Many thanks to PP, the casts and crews, all my fellow soap fans, and you, Michael, for all the hard work that got us to this point! Our soaps are back!!!!!
I am glad we are being tracked! Lots of us weren’t being tracked on ABC since we were the “wrong” demographic!
So agree!
I purchased Hulu Plus just to be able to watch One Life on my Ipad. Eight bucks a month is a small price to pay to watch a show I have invested the last 25 years. No brainer for me.
And Hulu+ opens a whole lot of doors to a whole lot of other great viewing!
This is so true! I purchased Hulu Plus a month ago in advance of the soap launch and find myself using it to watch other shows nearly every day! It’s very rich in content.
Prospect Park, is VERY SMART. I thank them for listening to the FANS!!!
Loved both shows. This was what both shows needed. They aired them out and brought them up to date. Excellent job and Thank you PP!
I bit the bullet and decided to go with Hulu plus for right now since I spend much more time on my IPad then my computer.. I just finished watching both shows … And all I can say is…. I am so insanely happy they are BACK! I hope the audience will build and build, once they discover how easy all of this is to access!
watched the beginning of OLTL this morning…so good to see it.
Enjoyed both premiere episodes today, and look forward to more. Soooo happy to see Trevor St. John on OLTL!!!! Much good luck and success to both AMC and OLTL.
The biggest problem with Prospect Park having both shows just on the internet like on Hulu and iTunes is that a lot of older people either don’t have a computer or internet access so they can watch All My Children and One Life To Live.Just today I was talking to 6 people that live in my apartment complex who are older then I am and they knew both shows were coming back today but they didn’t know that you needed internet access to watch All My Children and One Life To Live.
Those are the people I try to help. You can offer to host a viewing party…or go over their options. Luckily, many “older” people DO have computers and/or internet, know how to use them and/or have people around them willing to help.
My mom is 80 and watched it with no problem.
I’ve watched both episodes twice today and plan to watch them again this evening with my husband! Totally AWESOME! Can’t wait until tomorrow’s episodes.
I hope the momentum keeps up. Top 5 and AMC & OLTL just keeps getting popular & popular. Then PP will show’em (2 face ABC) how it’s done!!:) The tracking of viewership seems to be more accurate. Yay!! Thank you PP:)
I watched both shows starting at 5:30 this morning and both were great!! GO PP.
Loved both and will absolutely continue to watch. Best part is that you can watch anytime…
What does it translate into # of views? In the NY Times article today it said that the numbers have to be at least 500,000 every day for PP to break even. If they don’t hit those #s consistantly, these shows aren’t going to last. Pretty much all the actors have signed a 1 year contract. PP has 1 year to make this work.
I’d like to know the exact numbers also. I will do my part and watch them every day…
How many times must I watch OLTL to see it move up in the ratings? LOL! Already watched it twice today.
The internet and HuLu do not go by ratings.. they do not have a rating system..
It goes by what is Buzzing, mostly..
Web and network tv work differently..
Views are counted once a day. So if you watch it on the same device in the same day it will only ‘count’ once.
So awesome to finally get to see AMC again. Watching it on FX Canada.
Thank you to all the supporters for making this happen….
So happy you can watch on cable! 🙂
not cable,satellite.
Either way! Happy for you….
Wished I lived in Canada so I could watch too! So many loyal viewers can’t get it here without the internet. Not everyone has it!
We’re still fighting for those who don’t lipstickcat! PP knows…they are trying…
I liked OLTL the best…didnt care for its Cosby Show type opening…shouldve been more like AMCs opening but OLTL is far more interesting. I plan to watch more to see if they can keep my interest up. The ratings sounds good so far but that can always change for better or worse…im sure some new viewers tuned in to see what the fuss was all about but will they stay and will fans stay with it in the months ahead…only time will tell.
I was so happy to watch All My Children and One Life to Live. The story line on both were great. I will be watching all the time.
so are the 30 minutes per episode all soap opera, or are there commercials within that time? (or any commercials)
I’ve been watching old OLTL episodes from 2008 and they’re all about 33minutes (no commercials), so if it’s all soap for 30 minutes that is ok with me.
how much is iTunes selling the episodes for?
I figure I’ll buy the ones I really like after I watch them on hulu.
Christy I received an email from Prospect Park in which it .99 per episode on iTunes or $9.99 per month for a multi pass which allows you to watch all the episodes
I believe it figures out to be about 27 minutes of content…
OLTL Outstanding!!!! AMC Great! The only way they could be better is with more original characters, but I’m thrilled with what I saw today. I’m loving what one life had to show today – keep on bringing it on!!!
Great news!!! I hope PP knows how much you… Michael Fairman helped them get to those incredible numbers!!! Will continue to support them both! Michael do you know if Hulu can capture time stamps on their numbers and will they be able to report the “anytime” hours watched vs the “daytime”.
Ground- breaking day! I loved watching OLTL today! I can’t wait for tomorrow!!
As thrilled as I was to see my favorite actors back on screen on OLTL, they got me going even more with the ending. I did not expect that at all. I’m going to bed early so tomorrow’s show comes that much sooner…..
I;m surprised that OLTL isn’t #1, it is the better of the two..
and I’m a lifer AMC fan..
Maybe it because the name of the soap isn’t as grabbing for a look-see as AMC.. lol
(both dramas are awesome..
All My Children
One Life To Live
someone looking in would think which the better one by its title?
I AM OVER THE MOON! WATCHED THEM BOTH TWICE ALREADY, THEY BOTH WERE INCREDIBLE, CAN’T WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!
PP should sell these shows to another cable channel, one month behing original episodes. TBS, TNT,lifetime. Are u listening.
I hope this is the final straw that will break the fatcat idiots backs at ABC when they realize they made one of biggest mistakes in broadcast history by cancelling these two great shows!
they will never see it as a mistake, and they are still making big money off of both the soaps.. jingle in their pockets for doing nothing lol whatta deal!!
and ABC still owns the soaps, for whatever that counts, they are still theirs..
ABC looks foolish in every news article over the last month. Variety, NY Times, EW are all reporting on the fan backlash. It hurts them plenty.
ABC dose not look foolish, they are taking care of business like all the mega power media Co’s.
ABC decided to fight not settle with PP, that is all, nothing more..
ABC has more millions of viewers than one could count, a handful of soap fans is nothing significant in their realm . 🙂
ABC is doing very well without us… sorry, but it is the facts ..
I’d love to see PP take them but it will never happen, sorry again..
Most all ABC prime time shows, and that is huge number of shows, get 6-9 million viewers and soap fans of soaps were 2+ million..
But!! PP is doing very well!!! so, can’t count them out.. 🙂
ABC does not own AMC and OLTL anymore, they sold the rights to PP. They made money in selling them but their profit days of the shows are over.
Even if they don’t realize it…we know. 🙂
Kay… ABC did not sell the 2 soaps they ”leased” them out to PP, ABC owns the soaps PP is leasing them from ABC ..
Thank you Prospect Park you didn’t disappoint.
tickled silly to have them back 🙂
LOVED AMC! Not a OLTL fan, but I will favorite both on HuluiTunes and will turn on/download OLTL to have it ‘counted’. IMO, the shows have a better change of survival if they BOTH do well. Way to go, PP! (Take THAT, ABC).
I loved OLTL, I am so happy we have both Roger Howarth and Trevor St John both back. Made my day.
All My Children was AWESOME today! I’m so happy to have it back. I’m watching on Hulu.
Watched AMC and LOVED IT!!! Can’t wait for tomorrw.Thank You for bringing my T.V. FAMILY BACK!
Great to see those familiar faces once again. Opening songs are wonderful. The excitement is back in Pine Valley and Llanview! Just wonderful to see them again. Two year fight paid off. Thank you PP!
Loved OLTL! It’s smart, hip and yet it felt like our favorite characters were exactly how we knew them. Thumbs up PP.
” Where’s my shit?” Came out of Daniela’s month today and Todd’s eldest son.
” Baby Momma.” Came out of Mathew the losers mouth looking like he didn’t give damn about he’s own kid or her.
They disappointed me how they think it’s cool to want young people to catch
this garbage. Natalie went from mother to tramp in seconds.
Sorry I’m afraid Vicki might become a stripper next. Not joking either.
Who’s running from who? If they think I’m catching it again no way.
So there’s no one here but me thought this? wow….
“Young people” here A LOT worse in their everyday lives, in school especially.
Dani saying that was perfect for the story line. Matthew is a young man – and they say that!
I don’t think PP is trying to make this ‘cool’, they are reflecting today’s youth.
Why is Natalie a tramp for dressing sexily and dancing sexily? She did not look trashy to me.
Viki will not be a stripper! Please, don’t be ridiculous. The show is edgier and more realistic – not trashy. Erika Slezak herself said it’s not like Viki will start dropping Fbombs.
I was very happy with both shows.
I was SO EXCITED to watch AMC today, and y’all didn’t disappoint! I actually had to go back and watch the last AMC episode and get re acquainted! Today’s new episode was a bit more riske’ but GREAT! I loved it!
I also think that AMC was the better of the two today, more classic and true to itself. Loved right away seeing the love and playfulness of angie and jesse. Dr,. Evil ready for more, and the next chapter for Miranda and AJ and Petey. Thought I do not like the AJ and Pete character. Opal does not quite seem like the Opal I remember.
OLTL is geared for the younger set, sexing it up with Natalie, Dani, Destiny. Also was too loud hope this night club is not on alot or if it is maybe when it is closed. I did like the end thought tht was a nice surprise.
I’m with you on the nightclub scene! My first reaction was that I must have aged too much but still reserving judgment…like you, hoping not to see too much of that noisy nightclub! 🙂
Love, love, love both shows!! Thank you Prospect Park and Hulu, you are heroes!!!!
