A rep for the CBS soap opera confirmed the news with Daytime Confidential this afternoon!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

Hunter welcome back, I hope they sign her to a contract again. hunter is a great actress, but please no more plastic surgery, ok hunter. you are a beautiful woman.
I so agree. I would LOVE to see what these women look like normally! They would be BEAUTIFUL. I personally have two cousins…they are sisters…one is 47 and the other is 45…the 47 year old looks like Shania Twain and the 45 year old looks like…well I’m not sure…think Ellen Wheeler’s verison of Victoria on Another World circa 1984…..they are both HOT (yes they are my cousins)…but more importantly, neither one has had a lick of plastic surgery. They are both grandmothers as well. When I visit with them…ALL I can say is “Grammas aint what they used to be” LOL. I WISH that this industry did not make women feel like they have to mangle their faces in order to be pretty. They were pretty to begin with and they look ridiculous. It is very sad.
Taylor is a core character of B&B and it will be great to have her back on screen sharing scenes with Ridge. I’m not enjoying the Brooke-Ridge-Katie triangle. We’ve gone through too many on B&B. Over and over.
Hunter Tylo returning to B&B??? Are you kidding me??? If it’s true, then the show should romantically put Taylor with another male character on the B&B canvas. I cannot stomach watching a Brooke/Ridge/Taylor triangle rehash (or whatever). No. I think that a Bill/Taylor pairing would be very interesting!!!!! I mean…imagine the SPARKS between those two!!!!! Just an idea……….
if she needs a job…. more power to her
I don’t think she looks that bad….
never was a fan of the show…. B&B – as for Huntor Tylo… I started watching her on AMC…. and for whatever reason… she must have made an impact on me…. I always thought Tayler and big daddy hisself should be helming the Forrester Creation
even i’m over watching KKL get all the action… and Heather Tom cry for the millionth time
Please, please, please write Taylor differently than the way she was written in the last year or so! Go back to the smart, confident Doctor Taylor (flaws and all) and NOT the manipulative, pushy, kinda selfish Taylor. I was THRILLED when that Taylor left the canvas!
Hunter T. can bring it. Just give her better writing that is true to Taylor’s character! Otherwise, I rather Taylor NOT come back 🙁
So thrilled to hear that the classy gorgeous Hunter Tylo is returning best news in months finally a reason to tune in again thank you soap gods! Looking forward to her superb acting and beauty, just so happy!
And seriously PLEASE…no more Taylor and Eric. That’s gross.
Johnny…dude, I AGREE!!!!! BLECH!!!!! And, as a so-called on-screen couple, Eric and Taylor are BLAND AND BORING AS HELL!!!!! No Thank You. Next……….
I concur 100%! Ick.
Why not? Taylor and Eric were hot hot hot. Lol. I hope, Eric and Taylor have sex again.
IMHO, Taylor/Eric were disgusting!
But then MOST of the couples on this show are, so there you go!
Um…hi John McCook!
I’d love for her to stay long term, but they need to make her strong like she used to be and no more Taylor/Ridge/Brooke triangle. I had always thought Taylor and Bill would make a great couple. Don’t really care who you put her with, I just want her back.
I don’t understand why she would so vehemently deny it and then hours later, the show confirms it. That makes no sense. She actually said, “There is no truth to those Rumors, no talks are in place between Hunter and The Bold and the Beautiful.” Why say anything? I don’t even watch B and B or even like Hunter Tylo but WTF??? Does no one else think this is odd?
My guest is they were probably going back and forth, and Hunter camp probably denied it not knowing for certain. Stuff Happens!!!! Who Cares bout how you get the jog??? As longs as your there and Hunter fans are happy to see her again and will tune in just to see her on that one day.
if its Brooke Vs. Taylor round 5,899, Ill be fast forwarding her scenes.
Is she coming back for just one day? Or for long term? Happy to see her back. Bet she’ll have plenty to say to Brooke! And Quinn. Yowser!
I hope this is a short-term return. Taylor is hypocrite who, if she doesn’t get what she wants, will destroy and manipulate. I hope it’s a temporary return for a few guest episodes and then leaves again, since her exit was open-ended. I’m not here for this triangle bull anymore.
Scott…dude, I AGREE!!!!!
Agreed!! She acts innocent but is just as bad!
I think this is good news for BB and if keep her in long term and irritating Brooke and supporting Katie & Ridge….could be groovy time to watch.
If she is staying long term the only way her character would be interesting to me at this point of time is if they hook her up with Quinn because I have seen her with almost every man on the show — to go down that route again would be pointless.
If she is staying for a short stint, to hold Ridge’s hand and tell him that his feelings for Katie are right and that he should pursue a relationship with her and not Brooke– I’ll pass because everyone already knows at some point Ridge and Katie will be together.
There is another actress with the same name that starred on DAYS years ago. With a little cosmetic surgery, she could look like her.
If she is not bringing Steffy with her or Thomas-I say don’t bother. I am getting sick of the merry go around at B&B with the characters all sleeping with each other. Switch out the entire cast with new characters and bring them back every 6 months just to see what’s going on. Either the cast needs to grow or the whole gang should be killed off and start over with new families or families we haven’t seen in awhile.
LONG TERM!
Maybe finally I can resume watching this show!
My last epi was Taylor’s last epi. There is no way on God’s
green earth that I would ever watch this show again without
the CLASS, ELEGANCE and BEAUTY that Taylor brings
to the screen!!
It’s about time someone smartened the hell up in those backrooms!
Great news! I hope they write a storyline for her involving Ally! That would be exciting to watch! I would love to see Hunter bring the drama and excitement back this show, long with bringing her fans back with her, who left the building when she did.
I wish Hunter would be staying on as Taylor permanently because she is one of the core actress that contributed to b&b history. Her character is missed and her fans wants her back.
It was also SF request when she was leaving for HT character to be utilized more on the show. Its time for bell to wake up and smell the coffee.
Taylor characters either love or hated bring a much needed balance to the show cus non Logan viewers are truly disgusted by the whore and mini whore show.
This is great news for b&b considering there rating are in the crapper and General Hospital is moving one up on them in all major demographics. God know Bell needs to do something fast viewers are losing interest in watching whose gonna get to screw the crying & winning town bike next, after 27yrs of the dame old same old.
I wish Bell would stop catering to one desperate actress to remain front burner and start utilizing all the good actress he actually has on the show and write some s/l with some common sense!!
Hunter Tylo is a breath of fresh air on b&b. Wish she was staying on b&b permanently and Bell would put the Tridge family back together, the way his father (God rest his soul) intended it to be. I’m sure TK and HT would be able to pull of a TRIDGE reunion effortlessly since personal circumstance prevented RM from having a proper Tridge s/l and KKL doesn’t want to be paired with another nu Ridge.
The show needs a new direction cus the way the show has been going, its utterly disgusting and nasty.
Good to see Hunter coming back, hope they put her with TK and bring back Stuffy & Thomas as a family permanently. So sick and fed up watching an elderly woman pretend she in her teens & wanting to sleep with everyone else’s man.
She needs to chill out with plastic surgery. Please don’t bring her back patethtic vying for Ridge. She was unbearable to watch the last year.
I am glad that hunter is back on the show. I am a faithful fan of the bold and the beautiful. i would like her to get her family back with the new ridge and the kids thomas and steffy permanently
Loved Hunter on B&B. But this whole rumor-ville has been bizarre. Didn’t they just confirm a few days ago that she wasn’t coming back…? Oh well, excited to see her again. Can’t wait to see her with Thorston Kaye
Glad to hear Hunter Tylo will be back on B&B. Hope it turns out to be long term. Been a fan of the show for many years and miss Taylor, so we will be looking forward to seeing her in action again. Hope she gets a love interest and kicks Brooke around a little. 🙂
I hope she will become a regular again. The show is not the same without Taylor!!
Am so happy to hear that the stunning Hunter Tylo will be returning to B&B she has always been my favorite character on this show! what really gets me is people who rubbish her and constantly bag her looks. this poor woman has lost her only son to drowning and her daughter lost an eye to cancer if the plastic surgery makes her feel better about herself then more power to you Hunter! will definitely be tuning back in when she returns.
