Betty White, Multi-Emmy Winner, Sitcom Star, and B&B Alum, Dies at 99
Just heartbreaking news to end 2021. The beloved Betty White has passed away at the age of 99, just weeks before what would have been her 100th birthday.
White, died Friday morning peacefully at her home, according to TMZ and a statement from her longtime agent, Jeff Witjas. He also shared: “Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever. I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much. I don’t think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden. She believed she would be with him again.”
Betty was best-known for her roles on The Golden Girls as Rose Nyland and The Mary Tyler Moore Show, where she played the happy homemaker Sue Ann Nivens. With Betty’s passing all of the cast members of The Mary Tyler Moore Show are gone.
More recently in her career, Betty appeared on the sitcom Hot in Cleveland for a five-year run as Elka Ostrovsky, and hosted and executive-produced Betty White’s Off Their Rockers.
Betty won five Primetime Emmy Awards: two for ‘Mary Tyler Moore,’ one for “Golden Girls” and one for her 1975 ‘SNL’ appearance. She was also honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Daytime Emmys in 2015.

In 2006, she came to the The Bold and the Beautiful and played Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) and Pam Douglas’ (Alley Mills) mother, Ann. She played the role in appearances through 2009, when Ann died in emotional scenes featuring Flannery, Mills and White.
Betty was widely-known for her being an animal activist.
Share your thoughts and remembrances of Betty White in the comment section below. But first, watch some moments from her performances as Sue Ann Nivens, and then Ann’s death on The Bold and the Beautiful ,and her being honored at the Daytime Emmys.
So sad for the rest of us who so enjoyed her in life. I hope her husband Allen had his hand out waiting to bring Betty with him.
Betty’s win for SNL was for 2010 (Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series) when she hosted the show. As the oldest SNL host ever (at 88), she was also one of the best hosts (in my opinion). Of course, I loved her other work as well.
When I found out about this I felt so sad inside.SHe was a great lady.May you rest in peace Betty. You will be missed.
Also, all of The “Golden Girls” are gone. Not just the MTMS cast…
Oh my No…… Rest in peace dear lady.
A truly sad day for me but one in which I’m also profoundly grateful. Grateful for the many great memories of mirth, pathos, and inspiration that BETTY WHITE gave to all of us. I grew up with (and still watch) THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW and, later, THE GOLDEN GIRLS — the only sitcoms I have the entire series of. Betty was an underrated dramatic actress as well as a brilliant comedienne. And she had those rare qualities that today’s fly-by-night stars don’t possess: humility and gratitude. She will be missed by millions.
I thought this was fake news, but it seems not.
When you’re 99.99999 years old, you might as well be 100.
Peace be with you.
I am heartbroken at the loss of Betty White. My first memories of her are on Life with Elizabeth back in the 50s. I was a small child at the time and thought she was hilarious. I followed her through her various daytime talk shows and animal shows, Password, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Golden Girls and Hot in Cleveland. I so loved her many visits to The Carol Burnett Show to play Eunice’s snooty sister, Ellen. She was always glorious in whatever she did.
Thank you Betty White for sharing your beautiful soul with us for all these years. You are finally reunited with your beloved Allen. May you rest in peace.
I felt so sad hearing the news but if there was any suffering, glad that you are now at peace. Iam not really sure if there is a here after but if there is, Iam sure Alan was waiting for you. Dear Betty, you gave millions of us so much joy and happiness and ” thank you for being a friend” to us all.
Lovely career to bad she was a hateful liberal you call my friend a bitch in the view abs you do not even know her! Ugh
Kay
If you call Betty White a hateful liberal, I bet you are a hateful CONTROL FREAK.
Betty was essentially in every sense of the words, One of a kind. She felt like a family member, a Best Friend, a teacher, a doting wife and beloved animal whisperer. She was every single piece of jewels and so much more that made up a national treasure, one that we should all cherish each and every day, and one we can all learn from. She will forever be missed, and She will forever be Loved. #RIPBettyWhite
Betty White is NOT in Hell… but we would have loved to have her here. With air conditioning, of course!
How many people in the acting business can say that they were on two hit shows and outlived the entire casts of both of them (MTM & Golden Girls)
I once briefly met Betty walking by her table at a charity event. I said “God Bless You, Betty White” to which she quickly replied “why, I didn’t sneeze”.
Betty won a daytime Emmy for hosting “Just Men” in the early 80s. Check out the clip on YouTube.
Before Ed Asner died earlier last year he poignantly noted that he and Betty were the only ones left from the old Mary Tyler Moore gang and he would be joining the others soon. It so striking Mrs. White died on the last day of 2021. They are all together now.
Love you, Betty—-you will always be alive in my heart—your goodness, altruiism and sincere love for others, will be forever remembered. I will continue to enjoy your presence by watching reruns of your sitcoms, Match Game and Password. May your sweet repose be peaceful. ❤️

In a moment that brought joy to those in attendance, A and Marcy both expressed a sincere hope and desire that one day they can work together again. I know we both want to do it.” Marcy simply nodded and responded “Amen.”

‘Days of Our Lives’ Officially Confirms Ryan Quan Returning as Co-Head Writer Beginning in July

There is definitely a shake-up going down at the writing team at Peacock’s Days of Our Lives. Now, the long-running soap opera has confirmed, what has been previously reported, that current General Hospital breakdown writer, Ryan Quan is heading back to his old stomping grounds in Salem. This time as the series co-head writer.
The appointment of Quan comes with the official news that current co-head writer, Paula Cwikly, who was previously rumored to be departing the series, is not. She is staying with the soap opera and transitioning to a consultant role with the show. Now, Quan will join current co-head writer, Jeanne Marie Ford to steer the ship for the characters on the canvas.
On Wednesday, TV Insider, reported the official confirmation and that Quan will return to DAYS next month in July. In a statement to the outlet, executive producer, Ken Corday expressed, ‘We are lucky to have Ryan back in the fold. There are very few people who have such a deep knowledge and understanding of our show’s history. Stay tuned!”

THE FUTURE OF DAYS OF OUR LIVES
Since Days of our Lives unusual production schedule tapes ten-months ahead of air, the new creative team’s vision led by Quan and Jeanne Marie Ford are not expected to stream on Peacock until mid-2027.
Days of Our Lives is currently renewed through its 63rd season. The former NBC soap opera which transitioned to Peacock in September of 2022, celebrate its 60th anniversary in November of 2025.
The writing regime change comes after NBCUniversal Media Chairman Matt Strauss revealed that Peacock is expected to turn a profit for the first time in the current quarter, punctuating their investment with the enduring soap opera on its platform.
As for Quan, his knowledge of Salem is tremendous. Ryan joined Days of Our Lives as a writer’s assistant in 2007 after some time over at Passions. He then spent two decades and held every position on the writing team where he previously served as co-head writer from 2016-17 alongside Dena Higley.
Later, when Ron Carlivati took over as head writer for 7 years in 2017, Quan became his right-hand man and main story consultant for his deep knowledge of the history and the legacy of the show. After Carlivati exited the show in 2024, General Hospital hired Quan in 2025.
So, what do you think about DAYS making it official with Ryan Quan as the new co-head writer of the series alongside Jeanne Marie Ford. What do you think about the fact we won’t see the changes on-screen till 2027? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

ABC Announces ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Texas Spin-Off Gets Straight-to-Series Order

In a surprise move, coming a week after ABC unveiled its 2026-2027 fall television schedule, Grey’s Anatomy is getting a new spinoff co-created by the original series’ creator/executive producer Shonda Rhimes.
The new untitled medical drama will be written and executive produced by Rhimes and Grey’s Anatomy showrunner/executive producer Meg Marinis under the Shondaland and 20th Television umbrella. In addition, long-running ‘Grey’s’ star Ellen Pompeo will also serve as an EP of the spinoff.
The upcoming new series will debut midseason in 2027. This will be the first of Grey’s franchise not set in urban city or West Coast locale. According to Deadline, the new “edgy drama is about a team at a rural West Texas medical center — the last chance for care before miles of nowhere.”

Photo: ABC
In a statement, Marinis shared, “I am incredibly excited to expand the Grey’s Anatomy universe. This opportunity will bring new characters and stories to life that will embody the same heart, emotion and connection audiences have loved from Grey’s for more than two decades — all set in my home state of Texas. I am so grateful to Shonda Rhimes for creating this dynamic world and feel so fortunate that I get to be a part of it.”
A NEW GROUP OF DOCTORS IN RURAL TEXAS
The Texas spinoff will feature a a new group of doctors, but there will be some connection to the OG Grey’s Anatomy and possibly to Debbie Allen’s character of Catherine Fox. The amount of episodes in the series order has not yet been determined. Previous Grey’s Anatomy spinoffs were the defunct Station 19 and Private Practice.
Previously, Grey’s Anatomy was renewed for its upcoming 23rd season while the amount of episodes is unclear. The last two seasons the series produced 18 episodes.
It should also be noted, Grey’s Anatomy and the Texas spinoff would likely share a time period, which requires limited-run orders for both with Grey’s premiering in the fall, followed by the spinoff on the midseason programming block.
So, what do you think about a Texas spinoff of Grey’s Anatomy coming in 2027? Who would you like to see from daytime or primetime as some of the featured roles as new doctors? Put on your casting directors hat and let us know via the comment section below.
