This week on all-new episodes of Beyond the Gates, after Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) learns from a dying Peaches (Arle Michel) that her birth mother is actually the late Barbara from The Articulettes, and that she can inherit a lot of money if she plays her cards right, Leslie wastes no time and hightails it over to the Duprees.

Once there, look for fireworks and a bitch-slap as whatever Leslie says, riles up Anita (Tamara Tunie) enough that the Dupree matriarch wants her out of her house as Vernon (Clifton Davis) looks on. Viewers are also questioning whether it might be revealed that Vernon is actually Dana-Leslie Thomas’ biological father? Stay tuned.

Meanwhile, according to the latest promo, the fallout continues after June (Jasmine Burke) introduced herself as Samantha (Najah Jackson) and Tyrell’s (Jaden Lucas Miller) birth mother and disrupts the family unit created by Smitty (Mike Manning) and Martin (Brandon Claybon). Later, as Kat (Colby Muhammed) and Chelsea (RhonniRoseMantilla) are set to launch their line, someone comes out of the shadows and chloroforms one of the young women.

Someone smack the character of Leslie right off the show . I’m surprised by these talented writers who have written a villainous with no redeeming qualities Unlike many before her from Iris on another world even to Phylis on yand r heck even Roger Thorpe on the light or EJ on days we root for them because they are all written with an Achilles heel that makes us feel sorry for them Leslie may be funny with her one liners but in know way am I rooting for her. In only months it’s become tedious and this recast Ted is written like a wet noodle There is so much to like on beyond the gates but so far bored of Leslie

Leslie seems like the typical ReRon created character – mostly a cartoon character, and possibly with DID, given her 666 different wigs, and a different name to go with each wig.

Another ReRon gimmick is to take his cartoon characters and try to “humanize” them by giving them a backstory that ties them to a core character or core family. Well, this one is a little different. Because BTG being a new show really doesn’t have a big history. The Duprees are the only “real” core family at the moment, and Loony Leslie’s not exactly related to them. But given her original affair with Ted, and now her “surprise” connection to the dead member of the Supremes er, Articulettes puts her right back in the Dupree radar, as she will no doubt be blaiming Anita for her mama’s sad life.

ReRon has since left the show, but you can bet your soul that a lot of this writing was his work. Now the question is, can they take it to somewhere that makes a little more sense?

I love Leslie; she cracks me up every time she’s on the screen, and Trisha Mann-Grant is a real talent. That said, I agree with your assessment that she has no redeeming qualities whatsoever: she is rotten to the core, and she’s shown time and time again that there’s pretty much nothing she won’t do and no low so low that she won’t stoop to it. This latest twist gives her another reason to stick around and another tie to the central family, but I do wonder if someone who is so thoroughly and relentlessly cruel and evil can stay on the show for much longer. She has “Victim in Big Murder Mystery Storyline” written all over her.

I think that’s actually the key difference between a character like Leslie and those like Iris and Roger: the villains that stick around do tend to have something that makes us root for them. Villains like Leslie tend to have a fairly short shelf life. I guess we’ll see. I think the actress is definitely up to playing something more complex, but I fear it’s too late to redeem a character who has been so relentlessly rotten.

I do suspect Leslie has picked the wrong person to mess with in Anita. That is one woman you do NOT want to get on the bad side of.

It’s a daily show, that is not even year old, you have to give it time to build, she will have redeeming qualities and all, but even if she doesn’t…Bring Back Evil Villains. Hell, They exist in real life, social media is crawling with them. One of them was just taken out, and his followers are upset that people are using his own horrible words against him.

All I got to say is I just love the show.Smack away.

Ashley Jones is the newest addition of CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates.  The veteran soap actress has posted some teasey Instagran stories revealing the intel; especially her latest wearing a Beyond the Gates emblazoned robe while in her dressing room.

As to who Jones is playing that is still hush-hush. Ashley follows other former daytime notables to Fairmont Crest which have included Greg Vaughan (ex-DAYS, Y&R, GH) and Jordi Vilasuso (ex-Y&R, AMC, DAYS and GL).

A spokesperson for Beyond the Gates confirmed the news to Soap Opera Digest expressing, “We can confirm Ashley Jones will be appearing in Beyond the Gates.” It should be noted: Beyond the Gates does tape four months ahead of air.

Soap fans first met Ashley when she played Megan Dennison on The Young and the Restless (1997-2000). She then went on to The Bold and the Beautiful to play Bridget Forrester in her initial run from 2004-2010 and since then making recurring appearances throughout the next 15 years. In addition, Jones appeared on General Hospital in the role of Parker Forsyth from 2016-17.

Earlier this week, Beyond the Gates was renewed for two more consecutive seasons its 3 and 4th by CBS, giving the youngest soap on the air, a big confidence boost. The series debuted back on February 24, 2025 as the first hour-long Black-led soap opera, and which tapes in Atlanta, Georgia instead of Los Angeles, California.

CBS Renews ‘Beyond the Gates’ for Seasons 3 and 4

Published

Congratulations are in order for daytime’s newest drama series, Beyond the Gates. Today on April 15, the soap opera was officially renewed by CBS for two more seasons, its 3 and 4th.

The network revealed the renewal pick-up at a press briefing led by CBS Entertainment President, Amy Reisenbach. That show of faith takes the soap through the 2027-2028 television and streaming season, while the soap currently continues to air its second season.

Beyond the Gates creator, head writer and executive producer, Michele Val Jean took to X following the news of the pick-up and expressed her gratitude, sharing, “So this happened. Thank you to everyone involved, from the network to the crew, for the support, belief, hard work and dedication everyone has poured into this show. Beyond grateful.”

Photo: CBS

While Deadline was the first to break the news of the young soap opera’s latest accomplishment, Val Jean clarified that Tracey Thomson who is listed at the bottom of the article as one of the series executive producers along with Sheila Ducksworth, Julie Carruthers, Leon W. Russell, Derrick Johnson, Anna Saalfeld and Lela Coffey, is more than that.

Val Jean explained Thomson’s full involvement with Beyond the Gates, noting, “A credit egregiously missing on this article is Tracey Thomson’s. She’s been by my side cranking out these shows since episode 150. We just did 400. She’s my partner, my co-head writer and an executive producer and she deserves all the credit.”

Beyond the Gates is set in a leafy Maryland suburb just outside of Washington, DC, in one the most affluent African American counties in the United States; a posh gated community with winding tree-lined streets and luxurious mansions to call home. At the center of this community are the Duprees, a powerful and prestigious multi-generational family that is the very definition of Black royalty. But behind these pristine walls and lush, manicured gardens are juicy secrets and scandals waiting to be uncovered. And those who live outside these gates are watching closely. These are the places where our characters live, love, work and play. Those who have “made it” and those who haven’t are all trying to navigate life … and some with more grace than others.

The cast is led by the Duprees played by Tamara Tunie, Clifton Davis, Karla Mosley, and Daphnee Duplaix along with Brandon Claybon, Mike Manning, Trisha Mann-Grant, Ambyr Michelle, Colby Nixon, Arielle Prepetit, Sean Freeman, Timon Kyle Durrett, RhonniRose Mantilla, Keith D. Robinson. Jon Lindstrom, and more round out the cast.

So, excited to hear Beyond the Gates is keeping on keepin’ on with two more seasons coming your way after the completion of its current season? Let us know via the comment section. But first, check out our recent conversation on the Michael Fairman Channel with series stars Tamara Tunie, Sean Freeman, Clifton Davis and EP Sheila Ducksworth via the comment section below .
