What a surprise and a treat for Days of our Lives fans to have Blake Berris back at his old stomping grounds, but this time in a completely new role.

Berris. who was killed-off when his original Salem character of Nick Fallon was murdered in 2014, had made a few return appearances from ‘the grave’, if you will in 2021, and earlier in 2023. Fast-forward to October 30th, and Berris made his debut in the newly-minted role of Everett Lynch. As it turns out, Everett is actually Blake’s middle name.

Viewers of the Peacock streaming soap opera are watching to see just what’s up with Everett, and his past with both Stephanie (Abigail Klein) and Jada (Elia Kantu), and if there will be some kind of juicy story twist.

In addition, DAYS has made Berris’ new character Jewish; as discussed on their recent Christmas episodes. That makes Berris’ Everett, only the second Jewish main cast character in DAYS history, the other being Dr. Robin Jacobs (Derya Ruggles), the orthodox Jewish doctor involved with Dr. Mike Horton (Michael T. Weiss).

Michael Fairman TV caught up with Blake last week during the 50th annual Daytime Emmy celebrations to get his quick take on his new alter-ego and return to Salem.

Blake shared just how it came about that he was brought back to the long-running soap. “I had done that return with Gabi from the grave, and I’d done the hell/Satan material. I was getting calls from the DAYS casting director, Marnie Saitta, periodically, but this sort of came out of nowhere and has been so much fun. I’m so glad they wiped the slate clean with Nick.”

There was a moment for DAYS viewers that they thought, did the writers pull another fast one and Nick Fallon is actually alive? Blake shared he wasn’t to sure of it himself at the beginning, expressing, “I didn’t know for a while, too. It’s not. He’s complicated, but he’s not Nick.”

Days of our Lives viewers are so used to seeing Blake as the creepy, obsessed bad guy. However, Everett appears to be a reversal of that, or is he?  Blake weighed-in on if he likes playing this seemingly good guy this time out. “I do, yeah. I do like it,” Berris reflected. “I feel the character is really going to give people a lot of the stuff that they always wanted with Nick, but in a different way and without all of that baggage.”

But let’s be real for one second! Fans know that if you’re going to bring an actor the caliber of Blake Berris back to the show, you would give him some meaty stuff to play. Blake confirmed, “They did. They really did.”

Now, Blake has what appears to be two leading ladies in Abigail Klein and Elia Kantu. When sharing his thoughts on working with Klein, Berris could not be more complimentary. “She’s a dream. She’s so beautiful. We have such great chemistry,” he enthused. “I feel like we are really tender with each other, and we feel really protective over Everett and Stephanie’s relationship. There’s something really beautiful I think there. I’m excited for people to see it. Elia is also so amazing. Such a firecracker, and we have great stuff too. It’s a little more contentious, but because of that I’m working with Galen Gering (Rafe), who I love, and also a lot with Billy Flynn (Chad), and Deidre Hall (Marlena) and I have amazing stuff coming up. It’s great.”

While Blake was away as a series regular from Days of our Lives, he has become a dad of three! Blake revealed, “I have three boys now! I have two, two-and-a half-year olds, and a 4-year-old. Fatherhood can be very difficult, but it’s amazing.”

So, how are you liking Everett Lynch thus far on Days of our Lives? Happy to have Blake Berris back on the soap? Any thoughts on what you think will be revealed about Everett in the weeks and months to come? Let us know in the comment section below.

Love my days of our lives but not enjoying Everett whatsoever

I’m shocked that one of the soaps is FINALLY having a Jewish character, but if he’s not Jewish in real life it’s not “representation.” And we, like all other minorities, need that. And to ward off any nasty comments about Jewish people playing non Jewish roles, that’s not the point. The point is there is a not of antisemitism (understatement), always has been. And the stereotypes are rampant. Matt Cohen should have played a Jewish doctor on GH; not a priest. Instead, the stereotypical Bernie the accountant was the second Jewish character on the show other than Jake Myers years ago. We don’t need stereotypes or Jewish actors that fit the stereotype. Matt Cohen, Tamara Braun, Stuart Damon, Amanda Setton, Rena Sofar, Brandon Barash, Sean Kanan, etc. All Jewish; none played a Jewish character on GH; Tamara on Days, Rena or Sean on B&B. Don Diamont on B&B. And that’s who should be playing Jewish characters to represent Jewish people…

Don’t 4get Arianne (Ari) Zucker (Nichole) & Both Vivians, (I’m sure there are more.

Mostly interested in Everett scenes with Rafe and jada other than that I’m not really interested in more of Stephanie and Everett stuff

There’s a reason Everett keeps showing up at the Horton house. No he’s not Nick, because I know exactly where Nick is… he’s on the payroll down here in Hell. But who’s to say that Jessica Fallon didn’t have twins and put one up for adoption?

I like Everett’s and Stephanie story heck with jada

But they don’t play Jewish characters.

ARE SOAP MORE RELEVANT IN 2026?

With the daytime soaps being mentioned in the mainstream of late, including a recent New York Times essay, Ryan Gosling’s high praise of Days of Our Lives icon Deidre Hall (Marlena), Late night host, John Oliver asking to be cast on a soap after doing a bit on his show, it seems daytime drama may be culturally relevant again, or is it really?

During the chat not only will we get Sheri’s takes on all the series she wrote for, but also ask, “Why soaps? Why now?” Why are audiences rediscovering/missing emotionally-connected storytelling? What did our genre provide viewers emotionally? And what has current programming gained technically but lost emotionally?

Join us with your comments and questions for Sheri in the live chat, as we talk the pros and cons of today’s daytime soap opera and daytime television landscape and delve into Sheri’s soap writing history and the characters she created or had a penchant for and learn about her new endeavors and outside projects.
