BREAKING NEWS: Prospect Park Suing ABC Over All My Children & One Life to Live Licensing Agreement!

The behind the scenes soap opera continues between Prospect Park and ABC!  As the story goes, ABC canceled both All My Children and One Life to Live back in 2011 and licensed the rights to Prospect Park.  Prospect Park has now readied the shows for their online premieres on April 29th amidst several issues with the licensing agreement between the two business entities,  one of which has been the issue of the usage of original Llanview characters John McBain, Starr Manning, and Todd Manning.

In an item from this afternoon, “One week before Prospect Park is set to launch online soaps All My Children and One Life To Live, the production company is filing a breach of contract lawsuit against ABC, which licensed the shows to Prospect Park, the company of Jeff Kwatinetz and former Walt Disney studios president Rich Frank, two years ago. In the complaint, which has been filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court, Prospect Park claims that ABC has been breaking the licensing agreement and sabotaging Prospect Park’s efforts to continue AMC and OLTL online.

The lawsuit won’t derail the plans for the AMC and OLTL re-launch on April 29. “These shows will go forward, and Prospect will address its right sin Court,” the suit said. “Regardless of how successful Prospect may be,the fact remains that ABC did not deliver what it promised, Prospect did not get what it paid for,and Prospect is now entitled to recover millions of dollars in damages for ABC’s egregious conduct.” The complaint seeks monetary damages of at least $25 million.

The lawsuit follows a couple of months of building up tensions and threats of legal action between Prospect Park and ABC centered on OLTL actors who had been starring on ABC’s General Hospital since the cancellation of OLTL by ABC. Prospect Park attempted to get them back, which created a standoff with ABC. The last straw came last week when ABC announced that OLTL’s Kristen Alderson, Michael Easton and Roger Howarth will return to GH on May 10, presumably as new characters. According to the lawsuit, after taking over AMC and OLTL in 2011, Prospect Park, in “a gesture of good will”, allowed ABC “to borrow seven OLTL characters to appear on a limited basis” on the network’s soap General Hospital for the actors playing them can have employment. (It is understood that, despite having the characters on a temporary basis, ABC signed the actors playing them in long-term deals, making their return to OLTL even more difficult. Howarth recently made a short-term deal with Prospect Park to do a stint on OLT before returning to GH.) Prospect Park claims that in the arrangement, they retained “approval rights over ABC’s use of the OLTL characters. But “for over a year, ABC outright failed and refused to consult with Prospect on any storylines involving these characters, rendering Prospect’s approval rights meaningless.” With that, “in the ultimate act of bad faith, ABC inexplicably killed off two OLTL characters on loan to GH by having their car forced off a cliff. ABC effectively killed another major OLTL character, who was not even licensed to ABC, by revealing that this long-standing OLTL character is in fact another character (alter ego) on GH.”

Prospect Park also claims ABC breached the two side’s licensing agreement by refusing to hand over to Prospect Park the URLs for the two soaps the company had purchased, and “These URLs are not only critical to establishing public awareness for the re-launch, but they are part of the rights paid for by Prospect. It is understood that ABC also recently declined to air ads for OLTL because it features prominently an actor who is on GH.”

Despite the fact that ABC retains some ownership in AMC and OLTL under the licensing agreement, Prospect Park argues that ABC is trying to sabotage the two show’s transition online. The complaint claims that “at least one ABC executive” involved in the decisions to how to handle OLTL actors on GH, “has openly declared his desire to see Prospect fail” and suggests that the network’s actions may be driven by “a basic fear of embarrassment if Prospect succeeds.”

On-Air On-Soaps will keep you abreast on the further developments of this breaking story!  So soap fans, do you agree that at this point, Prospect Park should sue ABC?  Do you understand where Prospect Park is coming from in their claims that ABC is sabotaging their online efforts with the two beloved shows?  Wouldn’t it be good for the soap industry in general, if these two companies could reach an agreement somehow, especially at a time when GH delivered an amazing 50th anniversary celebration and Prospect Park is about to relaunch two soaps?  Let us know your thoughts on it all!

Amazing way to promote the new shows, PP. I knew this was coming. This will be on all the news shows and websites. Perfect timing and a smart PR plan. Way to go PP. Sometimes you have to fight dirty.

I wonder how do the actors at AMC and OLTL really feel about PP’s actions as of late? Seems like PP doesn’t care about the rest of the cast. They just spend all their energy to these three actors whose already moved on. Let them go already and pay attention to those who has remained with the shows.

I’ll BET any amount of money that the CAST is FULLY behind PP! Do you really think these actors give a shit about ABC after what they did to them????
Erika S said how wonderfully they treat the CAST! Something ABC knows nothing about!! So I’m sure they have no problem with them SUING ABC!
BTW read the lawsuit because it is getting ridiculous how many ppl think this about ACTORS!

I think PP is totally justified in what they are doing. ABC are the ones fighting dirty. PP just wants what belongs to them. ABC had slowly destroyed all of the characters that have come on the show from OLTL, all PP is trying to do is save what is left of them. I agree I think all the actors are fully behind PP since it’s PP who has their best intentions at heart unlike ABC who just wanted them all to disappear.

Totally agree. PP is not exactly innocent in this and why not just wait another 2 weeks (until the shows have been airing) to sue ABC? That just doesn’t make marketing sense to have this type of negative publicity surrounding the premieres of these shows. Makes you wonder if they are in need of the $25mm.

I agree.I dislike aBC as much as anybody but they can’t tell me they had no clue what was going on with the characters and there delay for over a year made people go elsewhere for jobs.Think they need to take blame here to.I am sad we lost alot of AMC characters and alot haven’t even been ask to come on baord. They want a dtifferent AMC,But i will watch and back it.Its all we got and its better then nothing. They promise in the beginning it would be in the same format and it is not.I’m just gonna watch my soaps ad let PP and ABC throw stones at each other.Been threw enough for the last year and half from both of them..

The three OLTL characters are one thing, the trio of actors who play them is quite another. Prospect Park seems to be suffering from the illegal illusion that it can force actors to work on the rebooted OLTL when two of them — Kristen Alderson and Michael Easton — have made it clear they want no part of the Internet soap. TPTB at PP would serve themselves well to take a look at the 13th Amendment to the Constitution which not only outlawed slavery but indentured servitude as well. ABC was perfectly within their rights — and the contract agreement with the actors’ union — SAG/AFTRA — to sign the actors (Alderson, Easton and Roger Howarth) to long-term contracts. In fact, hope the union steps forward to protect its own and put Prospect Park in its place by threatening to sanction any union member who appears on any PP production.

      • nik1296

        April 20, 2013 at 9:37 pm

I have not heard any of these actors express not wanting to be apart of PP reboot of OLTL. ABC has a choke hold on all of them and I’m sure does not want any of them speaking on what they really want. If you actually read the lawsuit you would have seen and I quote “PP is also informed and believes on that basis alleges that in breach of the implied covenant, ABC entered into long- term contracts with certain actors known for their characters in OLTL thereby preventing those actors from working with PP and effectively removing any incentive for them to do so, ABC did so knowing full well that it had short-term rights to the OLTL characters and without disclosing to the actors PP right to get the characters back. PP is informed and believes and on that basis alleges that at least some of the actors moved their families to LA not knowing that their characters were on short-term loan to GH and that PP had rights to get characters back. PP is also informed and believes, and that basis alleges that ABC induced certain OLTL actors not to cooperate with PP by, among other things, casting PP in a negative light and suggesting incorrectly that PP is somehow negatively interfering with their careers. Indeed, in the middle of PP’s negotiations with certain actors, ABC went so far as to offer actors different roles on GH simply to induce them to not work with PP.” So basically what I get from this is that the actors were FORCED to stay on GH because ABC lied to them yet again. All PP is doing is fighting for what is RIGHTFULLY theirs. That’s all.

I agree! Finally, PP shows some balls. This should prove that the whole thing was ABCs ruse to kill them and shutup the fans. IMO Ron and Frank were unethical using OLTL characters and material as long as PP had paid for the rights. I read that Ron was an attorney b4 becoming a writer so he should know better.

This should prove ABC/Disney doesn’t want OLTL/AMC to succeed. PP is already doing a much better job than Disney. I am predicting that on April 29, so many people will go to Hulu the site will crash. Let’s make that happen. 😉

        April 19, 2013 at 8:18 am

Ron may have been an attorney before becoming a writer, but none of this would have been his final decision, it would have been ABC’s. Whether he “knows better” or not would have, unfortunately, been totally irrelevant; ABC has its own team of (practicing) lawyers, and they would have been the ones who were consulted and whose opinion would have counted.

Ditto on whether Frank and Ron behaved “ethically” or not–they undoubtedly did exactly what ABC asked them to do, and it’s ABC’s ethics that are in question, not theirs. ABC’s decision was a smart one–but only if they could count on Prospect Park’s never being able to get the online OLTL off the ground (and that’s sure how it looked at the time of OLTL’s cancellation). Capitalizing on the popularity of certain characters/actors from OLTL made very good sense if OLTL was never coming back in any form. However, I guess they chose to disregard the very real possibility that they were jumping the gun–and now they’re stuck with the consequences. Legally, I would imagine Prospect Park is absolutely right here–they bought rights to the show that was leaving the airwaves as of January 2012, and what they have now is substantially different because of ABC’s actions in the meantime.

It isn’t so much the legal contracts with the three actors–I think Prospect Park is probably on much weaker legal ground with that part of the lawsuit. But the fact that ABC has not consulted with Prospect Park on what was done with the characters, if it is in fact in Prospect Park’s contract that it would have approval rights, seems pretty flagrantly to be a contract violation (assuming, again, that Prospect Park is characterizing the contract accurately).

I do think ABC has been sabotaging Prospect Park. Which is sad–but exactly what one has come to expect from ABC. (Even though it would seem logical that ABC would have a stake in the success of AMC and OLTL online, since they still have ownership rights, I think their stake in the success of General Hospital means much more to them, and if they have to undercut Prospect Park to do it, oh well. And I think it’s an appalling attitude–but it doesn’t surprise me in the least.)

I think ABC is a bully. They gave up the shows and should honor their agreement. Of course, the continuity (or lack of) on General Hospital, with the abrupt departures of central characters and the possible return of these actors in different roles is laughable. But then it is a soap! Best of luck to Prospect Park and to a new and robust future for OLTL and AMC and their terrific cast of actors.

Please, ABC, don’t become like other networks (NBC). Can’t you all just get along. Are you that money hungry? How big do you have to be? General Hospital is your last soap. Yes they should sue. Enough is enough. ABC not only cancelled the shows, totally disregarding their fan bases, but are seemingly saying “we don’t want these shows but we’ll be damned if anyone else has them either.” They want to make the money on the licensing while making sure it’s worthless.

The fact is ABC will be, and should be, embarrassed when these shows succeed far better than they did when they had them.

I doubt ABC will be embarrassed if the shows succeed far better than when they had them because the standard for a web series and a TV network is very different. PP’s lawsuit will likely be thrown out of court, not only because ABC can afford to drag it through the courts since they no doubt have more money than the PP company but also because there’s no proof of them sabotaging Prospect Park’s efforts to relaunch the show. The only thing that they did that affects OLTL is that they will be keeping RH, ME and KA as employees (the OLTL writers can easily bring Cole and Hope back from the dead) and PP will have the difficult job of successfully recasting the roles but that’s not really ABC’s fault since they can’t force RH, ME and KA to go back to OLTL.

They now want to cash in on the success GH has had since a lot of people watched it because of the OLTL characters. I for one did not watch GH until they added those characters. Now they want it to fail online so they don’t look like the fools they were to cance these 2 shows. I am glad they decided to sue. They paid for the rights the characters were on loan and they need to admit they were wrong!

No one is saying that ABC did nothing wrong but your blind alligiance to PP is not accurate either. We do not know both sides of the stories. And yes, I do have some inside information on how this went down and both sides have been a bit unethical. Bottom line is that this is a business – people are out there to make money so don’t be so quick to throw blame until you know the whole story. I find it frustrating that instead of waiting 2 weeks that PP, one week before the shows air, decides to air this dirty laundry. Makes me wonder if they need the cash. Also, of course the actors are going to say everything is great and that they are treated nicely – that’s what they were saying about ABC, and how the fans should not worry, right up to the day they announced they were being cancelled so I wouldn’t put to much stock into what the cast has to say on the subject. Hope it all works out.

It sounds to me like PP has every right to sue. ABC is bullying and needs to face consequences of it… apparently not enough that they cut AMC and OLTL from network TV, but now that PP has done the work to relaunch our shows, they (ABC) want to trip it up following their neglect in following the original agreement.

Blair’s love interest when OLTL ended (Tea’s brother- can’t remember his name now) was hinted, but not quite revealed as far as I can remember, to be Alcazar from GH. Both were played by the same actor (Ted King?) Not sure, but I’m guessing that’s who they’re referring to…

      • Craig

        April 18, 2013 at 6:01 pm

Tomas was his name, and the last this was mentioned on GH, Blair, Tea, and Skye Quartermaine were going on a road trip to track down Tomas and see if he really was Lorenzo Alcazar, as Skye and Todd believed.

      April 18, 2013 at 4:31 pm

I assume they were talking about Tomas/Alcazar. They could also sue over Tea’s dead baby I guess but from the preview video it seems like they are running with that story.

I am not a GH viewer, but from what I have read it appears to be Michael Easton’s role. It says above that “ABC effectively killed another major OLTL character”. Does not mean the character is dead. I guess that would be John McBain. Hasn’t ME been playing a character he played before on “Port Charles”?

I am guessing they are talking about Michael Easton/John/Caleb/? forgotten the other name. My guess will be heads will roll over on the set of GH FV & RC are the ones who brought them over gave them love interests and wrote story for them for three characters who were OLTL even including Tea & Blair maybe they PP did not want Tea to lose her baby you see where I am heading with this. It is going to get real nasty now they say hey we are bringing the actors back to GH as new characters when they created these roles on OLTL if I was PP I would be probably royally pissed. I mean OLTL fans can you accept other actors in these roles. Problem indeed!

    • Chuck

      April 18, 2013 at 8:06 pm

A storyline on GH around the holidays strongly suggested that a longtime GH character, Lorenzo Alcazar, was going by the alias of Tomas Delgado, the OLTL character played by Ted King (who had also played Alcazar). Heck, I was surprised Ron Carlivati and Frank Valentini even went there, considering one of the characters so wrapped up in the resemblance, Carly, is played by Laura Wright. Her character on Loving/The City, Ally, had an on-again/off-again relationship with Danny, played by … Ted King! So …. Since GH recognizes The City continuity (via the Tracy Quartermaine/Gino Soleito mob storyline), it’s interesting no one noticed the resemblance of Alcazar, Tomas and Danny Roberts. Gotta love soap casting!

In fact, I think the Pickle Lilla storyline is kind of similar. ELQ owns the rights to the relish so Tracy is just going to change the name and A.J. is going to just change the recipe. Just like P.P. has to change the actors but gets to keep the name and GH gets to keep the actors but has to change their character. Did anybody else catch that?

    April 18, 2013 at 3:59 pm

ABC was wrong to cancel the shows in the first place, but I don’t see the point in sueing them because GH killed off Cole and Hope (their bodies weren’t found) and Kristen Alderman and Michael Easton didn’t want to uproot their lives to work across the country for several months. But the dumbest thing is the connection between Thomas and Alcazar. Just say it wasn’t true.

I like both shows and think Prospect Park just needs to accept they will have to recast Starr and John and maybe Todd or just ignore the fact the OLTL characters ever moved to Port Charles much like GH is doing now with not mentioning them by name.

  10. David

    April 18, 2013 at 3:59 pm

Holy smokes! This is better than any drama on any soap currently airing! I admit I was reticent about getting behind AMC and OLTL with Prospect Park because of them dropping the ball originally and especially in the case of OLTL, the ABC version ended so perfectly. But I have since changed my tune as it looks like Prospect Park has really turned itself around and have made a herculean effort to bring these shows back in a smart way and, especially in the case of OLTL, luring back the core cast. I’m actually getting excited for the reboots and have faith that Prospect Park is now on a great course. I thought there might have been some sour grapes going on, especially when GH basically threw their hands up in the air and decided to cut all ties with the OLTL characters. I admired Ron Carlivati and Frank Valentini for keeping OLTL alive and thought that this was a boon to Propsect Park as they attempt to relaunch AMC and OLTL. But if the allegations are true about the characters being “temporarily” on loan to GH, and that characters were killed off and no attempt was made to inform Prospect Park of the story direction for these characters, then I say, “Go, Prospect Park!” And hope ABC has to pay up big time because they are the idiots who let these shows slip through their fingers in the first place.

no, I don’t think they should sue. they should be damn grateful that they are finally going to get their project off the ground, and should concentrate on making a success of it.

as far as Hope & Cole, they can, as GH has many times, find them alive and being hidden away from society by some kook — I’m thinking Allison Perkins may have a little zoo of her own started.

and the other character, is someone else on GH? is that the Caleb/McBain deal? did they even watch the show? Caleb (michael easton) was originally on another ABC soap, long before John McBain showed up in Llanview! And they were different people, as we all learned, and Caleb is dead (is he really?) and McBain went off on FBI assignment. So John McBain is still John McBain, but just won’t be in Port Charles.

I don’t see what the problem is… The fans of Todd, Star and John on GH are the ones put out, not PP, we get to keep the actors, but not the characters. PP can use the characters, GH can have the actors.

    so what’s the problem PP?

How you…or any OLTL fan, can side with ABC on ANYTHING is beyond me. ABC CANCELLED OLTL! PROSPECT PARK…is the ONLY company…NOT OPRAH…NOT any other CABLE station…thought it was worth the financial risk of producing OLTL (or AMC)!
Prospect Park SHOULD BE GRATEFUL!!!!???? They are a business…they spent MILLIONS of DOLLARS to get these things back on! ABC isn’t doing them a favor!!!! Grateful? For what???!!!!
And news flash…it’s a business opportunity for Prospect Park. They’re not a chairty existing to give fans back their soaps! They envision a wave of the future…whioh is more interent programming…they saw a huge fan base and outcry…and they’re savvy businessmen. They have every right to sue…they had a business deal..and I for one am in their corner all the way!
Great to see they have the chops and balls to go up against a media giant like ABC…and from last I read they already won one part of their suit…ABC gave them back the rights to the URLs and
I repeat…what is wrong with any of you that would criticize PP…
It’s because of them…ONLY because of them…that these soaps are coming back. You should be behind these guys 100%.

      • Christy

        April 19, 2013 at 10:03 pm

ooh, ouch! obviously hit a nerve with you. Sorry. I’m not siding with ABC, just thinking that a company that was struggling to get their project off the ground and is just getting started would want to concentrate on the project and not spend money on suing a huge company like ABC/Disney (more Disney than anything). Not criticizing them, just concerned about their money going against the big guns before their show has even hit the web live yet.

I’m behind the actors and crew… all the people that lost their jobsl because a few dumb a**es at ABC didn’t think anyone was watching soaps anymore. you know we had an earlier story that PP tried to work things out on sharing the characters of Todd, Star & John, but if they were actually in the start of suing ABC, I kinda wonder about that earlier report.

and yes, PP should be grateful, they should count their lucky stars every day, for their own ability to get their project off the ground after that whole year plus. The fans are grateful. I’m making purchases just to watch it’s return, I just don’t want them to get into money problems – suing is not cheap and going against that giant mouse is not going to be a picnic.

If you’ve read my comments over the past year, you’d know I was not kind with my regards to ABC for what they did to OLTL, a show I watched and loved for 43 years, so no, not siding with them, just concerned for the little guy (PP).

And you know, there must have been agreements over a year ago when PP let ABC use some OLTL chacters — just seems odd that ABC would choose to bring Cole & hope over just to kill them off… there could have been other ways to get Star to Port Charles. I mean, in some writer’s room… ‘let’s bring them in and they have an accident and the 2 fall over in the car and are killed’ ‘can we do that? we’re just borrowing the characters’ I mean didn’t anyone have in writing what characters could be used and how? And would love to know what ABC’s license to PP says about ABC’s rights to characters – they’ve retained some rights, but I don’t know what. The whole Hope & Cole deal was over a year ago and they’re just now bringing it up?

it’s just unclear about references to the characters eluded to in the top story… and as far as Star & John McBain are concerned, they’ve left Port Charles and are out there available to show up on OLTL. Todd already went back to the show for a while. And who knows what PP will do to Todd – recast or what.

but like I said earlier, since we never saw hope & cole dead, they could be elsewhere all this time. On OLTL Cole had to leave town so he wouldn’t have to go to jail. I still think it would be super if Allison Perkins had Cole & Hope & Victor!

      • Troy Turner

        April 21, 2013 at 11:15 am

I will back PP because they are airing AMC/OLTL, not their foolish behavior. They already have the characters back (which I’ve never argued). But why PP REFUSES to recast characters they have rights to mystifies me. Any judge worth his salt will throw this out in five minutes

There is two sides to every story…i really would like to hear ABCs side of this before making a fair judgment but how come PP waited this long to mention they didnt have storyline approval or say anything sooner about them killing off Cole and Hope? They couldve went to court much sooner to have the characters removed from GH if they disaproved of how the characters were written(seems like PP wasnt sure they could do the reboots then when they finally do they argue how the characters were used?)! So i blame both sides for that! By the way Disney, which owns abc, ironically has interest in hulu which carries both soaps!

So for all we know they have been and ABC would not budge which is not surprising and finally PP has to take this action…..Jim they have legally taken back the characters a long time ago…..Has an Interest IN Hulu…I fully blame ABC!

Good for PP! To me it seems like ABC/Disney has been trying to sabotage PP’s efforts. Is a shame the actors chose to remain with ABC/GH. I’ve never watched OLTL so I have no loyalties to the characters/actors that went to GH, so personally I’m glad they’ve left the canvas – their storylines were awful. AB C was trying to jam them down the throats of GH viewers even though there was no chemistry between GH and OLTL characters. I am looking forward to watching AMC and I’m glad ABC is not screwing with that show’s characters.

Also, in my heart of hearts, I believe that the reason why so many of the other regulars from both shows have been apprehensive about joining back on the cast is because they still don’t trust the whole situation. I believe that they are fully aware of the egg that’s on ABC’s face, and they realize how badly ABC wants to take down both shows, to save face, so they are holding off just until the success of the reboots are proven. I think around the 6-9 month mark, we will all see more and more people joining on….once they see that AMC & OLTL are here to stay. I think that they are afraid to jump in blindly, and I can’t blame that for that. But just know, we soap fans are not going anywhere and we are here to give our full support to the shows that ABC left out to dry….

why is pp making such a big deal about all this? if they want their 3 characters back then so be it, you have them back. theres nothing written in stone that says, they have to explain the 3 oltl characters history with GH ,in fact they don’t even have to follow up on it. They can pick up Oltl with the 3 characters where OLTL ended with them when they went off the air on abc, so star and hope, and cole can be in los angeles, john still part of Natalie and their son life and Todd out on bail after being arrested for killing victor. There you have it , take it from there and stop being a baby just cause you havent’ figure out how to play with the BIG BOYS!

I think it is very unfortunate that they can’t work out an equitable deal and co-exist together for the success of the shows and with money to be made by both parties.

The more unfortunate situation is the adverse affect on the actors that are being restricted and harmed in the process! I hope they get to work soon!

BTW… the Soapnet website is a very sad state of affairs and has missed out on the GH 50th opportunites and the opportunity to assist PP with the start of OLTL and AMC on TOLN. It’s not like it doesn’t help Sony with their soaps. What a waste of a website! Those of us who don’t have Soapnet on cable could at least get good content on but another ABCD missed opportunity!

        April 19, 2013 at 7:51 am

The lawsuit is new and hasn’t hurt them yet… but the whole war going on between ABCD and PP has hurt them in many ways! The fact that a lawsuit is added into the mix makes the situation even worse and will have repercussions with the three roles/characters and will ultimately affect the actors. Then there is the stress of this whole thing continuing on after the supposed resolution and anoucements of the 3 actors coming back and completing their contracts with ABCD. These actors have moved across country and uprooted their families lives and for what they thought would be some security for at least 13 weeks up to a year or more. Actors go through these types of risks all the time but when a soap actor like ME or KA who have been on OLTL for 15+ years makes a move across the country for what was believed to be a less risky and more secure contract role… it is unfortunate that they have to worry about this and any other legal shoe that may drop causing them to miss out on more work for weeks or months. They just lost out on at least a month of work and maybe more. The legal war between the two parties may even be affecting their abilities to get other acting gigs to fill in during the time they are on the bench waiting for these two companies to get their act together and co-exist! I feel the most emotion for the three actors and their families!!! In this economy… I want them working and hopefully having a great time doing it! These 3 have established great friendships with cast and crew at GH and it’s sad they can’t just get back to work and have some fun!

JolieFan – I’m wondering if YOU read the article and the lawsuit. Seems to me you are VERY quick to lash out at anyone who disagrees with you. I think everyone needs to hear both sides of the story before making snap decisions. So far we’ve only heard PP’s side of things. I think we all need to chill out and listen to what ABC has to say in response. I’m not saying that ABC is blameless but I, for one, would like to hear both sides and make up my own mind.

This is going to be soooo damned good to watch come down to…??????

No matter what; nobody owns the actors ..
If they have contracts they are obligated, but not owned..

Being ABC still owns the soaps and is leasing them and yet still have holdings of profit from both soaps with PP that ;eaves a big ??????
ABC has really good media law legal teams, I mean excellent, and they wrote up the contracts, so we need to wait for the hidden loop holes to come out..

What is actually in the contracts, which we probably will never know, will be the outcome..
I hope the trial will be on HSN LOL yah .
OK– the Betting Booth is open, place your bets..

To bring back Kristen, Michael & Roger to Port Charles as new characters is going to be really strange…..Kristen (as Starr) just dumped Michael Corinthos over a phone call and Michael & Roger left too… they are coming back ?? I am so totaly on PP’s side, ABC canceled them in the first place and what happened to all the characters on GH was a Horrid, totaly trashed the ending and history of multi OLTL characters and couples, this is my list, Tea’s baby killed-no permission from PP, Hope/cole killed – no permission from PP, Jolie trashed – no permission from PP, Todd’s character messed up – No permission from PP, Blair used to prop GH and OOC – no permission from PP, John made to be ridiculous dead beat and cheater – again no permission, then the talk of OLTL character like Natalie, Clint etc – no permision from PP and these are the Highlights! I am so happy that PP is suing I could do a little dance!!! I think ABC wants them to fail so they won’t have to answer to the embarasment of the original canelation – thought this before the article

I, for one, would love to see ABC embarrassed and I’m a GH fan. We know ABC/Disney does not want any of the soaps ultimately.

The complaint claims that “at least one ABC executive” involved in the decisions to how to handle OLTL actors on GH, “has openly declared his desire to see Prospect fail” and suggests that the network’s actions may be driven by “a basic fear of embarrassment if Prospect succeeds.”

Screw ABC, but in the end they are soaps. Two people who died off scene, with no funeral or anyone onscreen confirmation… in short, if Victor Lord can come back for the dead Cole and Hope certainly can. As for McBain… just write something, like he had to flee Port Charles because they people are nuts.

Actually, all of this is making me not want to watch OLTL & AMC. PP should be grateful that GH brought on there characters & gained them some new fans. They could have shared the characters, but PP got greedy. PP can recast, but nobody is going to like a recast of Todd or the others. Im a long time fan of PP, & I don’t even care that GH killed Cole. OLTL had written him off a year before anyway, so what do they really care.

    • Christy

      April 19, 2013 at 10:31 pm

i agree, but we actually did like the recast of Todd… in the one that near the end was suddenly not the real Todd. how silly was that! Well I really liked Trevor, as Todd, until that Marty fiasco… that’s when it just got weirder than weird. Todd, the real one, wouldn’t have shacked up with Marty. Taking a few bullets in the back for her boyfriend was his way of trying to make up for what he did to her… he wouldn’t have played house with her.

but I’m going to watch – both GH and OLTL. GH has been skirting the issues (characters) by not naming them “Michael’s girlfriend left town and broke up with him over the phone” was about as close as we got this week.

If PP is going to ignore GH storylines, yeah, what is the big deal, just write your own story and have any character you want in Llanview just be there.

Thank you! excellent read, now I wish everyone else here would read it before they assume to know everything about what characters, actors, abc & pp want/do/are and so on.
For those of you who insist that PP “dragged their feet” well, money just doesn’t grow on trees, sorry. Sometimes the comments on here are just ridiculous. The OLTL characters had almost become unrecognizable shoe horned and short cutted into GH as they were. Starr was Starr in name only. Her introduction into GH via the deaths of Cole and Hope, and her subsequent behavior for months was completely alien as to how she was written on OLTL. John McBain’s character suffered equally, illogically staying in town for a hitherto unknown sister, and moping after Sam and baby Daniel – while not really lifting a finger to fight for Natalie and Liam. And then there’s Todd. Darkly nuanced Todd became almost embarrassingly emasculated and clownish to the point of caricature. It was weird. It wasn’t “them.” Many OLTL fans were dismayed to see their characters behaving so unusually. The GH fans who hadn’t ever really watched OLTL before initially rejected the OLTL3, but then they became strangely possessive of them once the 3 were fitted into romance arcs with major GH characters.

If the OLTL3 were on loan, or leased or whatever the arrangement was between PP and GH/ABC I can well understand PP wanting to retain some story approval. Some creative control so that when they eventually got their characters back they wouldn’t be unrecognizable, or worse. It seems that didn’t happen. In fact it seems as if GH/ABC tried to take the characters and run, and then tried to Inhibit PP in any way they could. One sided slants were fed to Soap mags, sweetheart deals were said to be offered to actors to coax them away from returning to OLTL. URLs were withheld….And not a single kind word from Frank or Ron for their former show, that, more than anything spoke volumes.

I am happy to see the actors make whatever deal is best for themselves and their career on whichever show they choose, but in regards to the characters – I am happy and relieved to see them away from GH and back to OLTL before any more damage was done.

Hoping that this doesn’t have any ill effects on GH, and IF the information given above is true, I hope PP sues the H out of ABC. I watched all 4 ABC soaps including Ryan’s Hope. It is a shame that AMC & OLTL were cancelled. Sad that daytime was always the dirt on the bottom of the networks shoe. However, while I believe that John and Natalie belong together and that Todd & Blair should always be there to taunt each other as well as Starr having her mother. You have to think about the actors in this. They were lucky enough to be offered paying jobs and contracts at a time when the internet ‘prospect’ had been decided against. The actors deserve to be a part of GH now after all this time. After all, several characters got to keep their monikers & personna’s when they moved from one soap to another, think Skye & Rae.

I don’t know where you live, but where I live you have to PAY to watch TV. ya know, cable, directv, etc. Channels like ABC, NBC & CBS are part of that package – they don’t come free anymore with the cute little antenna on your roof. Paying for hulu, is no different then subscribing to showtime or hbo. But if you get all your TV channels for free… then I understand why you wont pay the 7.99

      • David

        April 19, 2013 at 4:28 am

If you have an antenna and a newer digital TV, you actually can get MORE channels over the airwaves than you would if you had cable. Granted, if you live in an area like the Lehigh Valley, PA, the birthplace of cable, you are probably stuck because there are only 2 local TV channels and Philadelphia and Scranton channels are blocked by a big mountain.

I think they should sue and I believe they should win their suit. ABC didn’t care about all of the fans that have watched both of these shows since the beginning, so why should the fans care if they have to give up the actors that were on loan? I don’t watch GH and never will, as a matter of fact I don’t watch ABC at all anymore, and haven’t since they cancelled these soaps. Of course all of us fans would love to see all of the normal actors and actresses playing their roles as they always have on our shows. It’s not fair for PP to have to hire new ones to replace the regulars. Disney did the worst thing they could of done by moving these shows and then cancelling them, so I have nothing nice to say about them either. I am so excited that these shows were picked up by PP and I can’t wait for them to start!!

It is interesting, as GH benefits from not having OLTL or AMC airing. Supporting and promoting three shows was fatal to their daytime programs – not a coincidence that when they killed two, the one that remained flourished, with focus and support. Now, with the prospect of the other two shows starting up again, even within new media, those OLTL/AMC fans that GH gained are at risk.

And didn’t they kill a fourth character? Tea/Victor’s baby?

I believe Prospect Park has the right to sue ABC. ABC made a big mistake when they decided to cancel “All My Children” and “One Life to Live”. In my opinion, they trying to make things impossible for Prospect Park. I really don’t think they had the right to kill off anybody. There was no reason to kill off Cole and the baby. They disappointed fans all over by taking off the programs and then killing off the characters. I, for one, can’t wait for the start of AMC and OLTL. They even tried to make Tomas Delgado into Lorenzo Alcazar, thus trying to ruin another storyline for Prospect Park. Just let us watch our soaps and then you can regret the mistake you made ABC.

    April 18, 2013 at 8:01 pm

Michael, I’m sure you’re in touch with the PTB at Prospect Park. I just read that it was totally ABC’s decision to kill off Hope and Cole. Therefore, PP can bring them back. it’s a different show on a different network. It was like MaSH and Trapper John MD. The same character had a totally different personality. Let them bring the characters back. I guess they’ll have to replace Kristen, but they can bring back Hope. I don’t care about Cole one way or the other, but if OLTL wants him back, why not bring him back? Certainly makes more sense than everyone watching 3 actors play different characters.

    • Tali (not Smith)

      April 18, 2013 at 8:47 pm

Lin, if only it were so simple. Cole and Hope can come back from the dead, but Starr has been compromised. I didn’t dislike Starr on GH, but I used to love her on OLTL. PP will now have to work twice as hard to undue the mess that was created by ABCs decision to off her family, and maybe three times as hard to resell her to her home audience. The character of Starr didn’t shine on GH, it may be she even lost fans because of it.

      • Lin

        April 18, 2013 at 9:22 pm

Many people who watch gH who didn’t even watch GH liked Starr. and there are people who watch OLTL who do not watch GH, I doubt there would be anyone who watched OLTL who will not watch due to not liking the way Starr was portrayed on GH. I don’t think the home audience will care how she was portrayed on GH. Now she would be back home. I twould be difficult to forget that her family was killed off on GH- but hey! Bobby was in the shower after a year- undead! on Dallas. I don’t know if Prospect Park has considered bringing her family back- so I hope they consider it. I think it was obscene when GH killed of Hope.

They never said that Tomas was Alacazar. There was question about it but never revealed one way or the other.

If Prospect Park filed this law suit 6 months ago I would have no issue with it. That was when the whole Tomas thing was gonig on.

If they filed out a year ago well again no issue. Cole and Hope were killed off over a year ago, yet just now you want to file suit. This will get thrown out of court so fast. Go over to deadline and click on where they have the link to the legal document Prospect Park filed. Those lawyers comments in it were quite funny. The law suit is frivilous. Prospect Park doesn’t stand a chance of it even getting to court.

They don’t want the shows yet they are willing to still earn $8.5 million dollar off the shows by licensing them to PP. Of course, they can’t allow PP to succeed. Success would once again highlight the foolishness of canceling the shows in the first place. I don’t understand the need for legal action. ABC is creating 3 new characters so OLTL still can use Starr, Todd and John and since it’s a soap they can have Hope and the jerk Starr used to love. They are using this to get free publicity for their shows. But I do agree this could backfire.

I believe this is about the three OLTL actors and characters that transitioned permanently to GH. They were integral characters on OLTL and Prospect Park wants them back, no surprise there. I believe ABC, Cartini, and the actors themselves never really believed Prospect Park would ever get either of the cancelled soaps up and running so they fully integrated into General Hospital. Now they are all faced with a quandary and no one wants to give in or compromise. The actors know they have a better chance of success on a prime channel and Cartini want to keep there old employees, no surprise there either. Only problem is it will be difficult to recast those characters on OLTL as well as create new characters for the actors on GH when all three are too well established as Starr, Todd & McBain.

right either way someone has to loose

  94. Paula Bianchi

    April 18, 2013 at 10:09 pm

Seems to me that ABC was secretly hoping PP wouldn’t succeed so the rights to the shows would revert back to them. Point of fact is nothing has been placed in the 2:00 time slot (following GH). Call me crazy, but I think they wanted to put OLTL back on because it was getting way higher ratings than the program they replaced it with.

Bottom line: PP should sue ABC for screwing around with “their” characters. I hope they recast Starr, Todd, and McBain. They’re so much a part of OLTL.

    • heidi

      April 19, 2013 at 9:36 am

I think you are right Paula! I remember hearing or reading something FV said awhile back that led me to believe he was trying to do something with both GH and OLTL together on ABCD and he and RC would be working on both. I can’t remember exactly what he said… but I got the distinct feeling he was thinking towards that goal.

  95. Dan

    April 18, 2013 at 10:16 pm

When the Prospect Park relaunch fell apart last year, of course the actors signed contracts with ABC to be on General Hospital. What else were they supposed to do, sit around and hope that one day PP would get their act together and bring back One Life to Live? That’s ridiculous. They had a right to make a living. So I personally don’t see the merit in Prospect Park’s lawsuit.

They may own the characters of Todd, John and Starr, but they don’t own Roger Howarth, Michael Easton or Kristen Alderson.

Ideally, I’d like to see some people at both ABC and Prospect Park that know how to act like adults, and see a deal reached that would allow the characters of Todd, John and Starr to be able to appear on both GH and OLTL. I believe that would satisfy both sides, as well as fans of both shows. But that doesn’t seem like a possibility at this point. It’s really a shame it had to come to this.

Regardless of what happens, I’m a loyal GH fan first and foremost, and the show has been on fire. I enjoyed having the characters of Todd, John McBain and Starr on the show. But as we’ve seen recently, the show is doing just fine without them. Ratings are higher than they’ve been in several years. So if a deal can’t be worked out, there was a General Hospital long before Todd, John and Starr, and there will be one long after.

Finally, someone makes sense! I agree! I know everyone is hating on ABC right now, but truth is they do only own the rights to the characters, not the actors. When the deal fell through these actors did the smart thing and signed with GH. It is a tough world out there so turning down a job and hoping that the deal went through would not have been wise. No bodies were found and Star went to California for some major news that Landon had. Maybe Hope and Cole are alive after all. After all these are soap operas, people come back from the dead all of the time. Are the new writers of OLTL really that bad that they cannot weave a plot like that? I don’t think so! The Thomas situation, though a bit odd could nearly have been explained on GH. It was never confirmed that he was Alcazar. Ted King never signed with either GH or Prospect Park for that matter. Can they really blame GH for trying here? How was anyone to know that Prospect Park would suddenly have the money to make a deal that we were all told was “dead-end of story?” We were all pretty shocked when Prospect Park finally was able to secure a deal. Now, just as they are about to launch Prospect Park decides to sue ABC? Honestly, I smell something rotten here. Either they cannot afford something or they are trying to secure more money for something! Not sure what it is, but they are cooking something.

      • rebecca

        April 19, 2013 at 11:11 am

how can I put this…you’re wrong Phil. ABC knew that Prospect Park wasn’t dead…they had, I think…one year to get their network up and running. PP did not have to allow GH to use OLTL characters…we’re not talking about actors who didn’t sign on with PP…we’re tallking about fictional characters…Starr, John, Todd…
And their suit is not just about the characters..and…PP was willing for the fictional characters to go back and forth between OLTL and GH.
PP has been more than accomodating…not wanting to alienate the soap fan base…they expected ABC to live up to the agreement when they were ready to launch.
        Again…power to Prospect!

      • kim

        April 19, 2013 at 1:00 pm

Prospect Park didnt even have a storyline outlined yet for the reboot…did they expect gh to sit around and wait for them to say what their plans were for those characters…Prospect Park couldve reacted the moment the characters of Hope and Cole were killed of and filed a court order back then to stop gh from using those characters but they wait until gh fully incorporates them into the gh stories then suddenly cries foul! ABC is at some fault here but Prospect Park isnt totally innocent as well! Sounds like they tried to sabatage the show and get dirty publicity for their reboots as if they dont have confidence in them!

GH is not even mentioning the characters whatsoever. So for all intent and purpose, pp and oltl don’t even have to go along with what abc and GH did to the oltl transplant. they can ignore it all and start the show off where it ended when it last air on abc. just go about recasting the characters they so desperately want and move on. they had no guarantee that they could get the characters cast with the same actors, in fact, many of the current characters on the show have already been recast, like destiny, and others havent even been added, like hello where is Jessica? i don’t recall her leaving town. PP is trying to milk this, ABC is not innocent in all this either they are both probably doing it for publicity, and theres no real lost here. GH has plenty of characters that are far more interesting then these 3, so please spare us the melodrama oltl fans, just be glad your getting your show back, and hope it last.

I am sad it came to this. ABC has been obstructing the reboot of OLTL. They deserve the law suit. The law is the law. I don’t understand why they are doing this? Haven’t the done enough to the fans of OLTL? Why didn’t ABC fight for these shows when they were airing? I am positive that PP was pushed to this.

ABC finally released the domains that PP bought. Will they now air the ad’s that PP bought?
Boycott is correct. No daytime or prime time viewing in my household. Also will be contacting share holders, my local affiliate as well

      April 19, 2013 at 4:33 pm

I think the local affiliates are the key. If enough people across the US contact local affiliates and voice their disgust with the alphabet network and commit to boycotting all programming, it would bring the alphabet network and the mouse to their knees. That won’t work in areas (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Houston, Raleigh-Durham, and Fresno) where the local station is owned and operated by the alphabet network. Other than these 8 cities, other broadcast companies own the local television stations across the US. Those companies want their businesses to succeed and to earn profits for their shareholders. Those companies may be hesitant to maintain a relationship with a company that has alienated millions of people across the country.

Boycott talk shows that replaced the two soaps, and continue to support GH…if you are a TRUE soap fan! Just because its on ABC would you really want to see another soap cancelled? Cbs cancelled two of its soaps and replaced them with a talk show and a game show but no one goes on about cbs and says theyll boycott them. Maybe two can play the same game…YOU BOYCOTT GH THEN MAYBE SOME OF US WILL BOYCOTT PP AND YOUR SHOWS! But just because pp and abc are split on this us soap fans shouldnt be…support all soaps…including gh on abc…just over a year ago we were all crying and complaining we were loosing our soaps but its not entirely the networks fault…its the fans who abandon them for whatever reasons they claim!

Well said jimh!!! I support the best soap… GH!!! I will continue to support Y&R and DOOL… had to give up on B&B. I loved OLTL and will gladly support it on PP. Was never an AMC fan… but will give it a chance and see what they have done with it over at PP. Of course… I am livid about OLTL and AMC being cancelled for crap like the Spew and the Revulsion and Katie! They made huge mistakes… but I would like the soap genre to win here and we keep and grow the genre and if ABCD will continue to support GH… they will have my support for GH! If PP succeeds with OLTL and AMC and maybe ventures further with others and/or develops a whole network of the genre… I will applaud them and they will have my support! I also hope that the actors that want and or have contracts with whatever entity… get to work and have some fun!!! This is becoming too mean and all about hate and I am sad to see fellow soap genre supporters losing site of the real cause and that is to keep the soaps we currently have and ultimately find ways to change and grow the genre by any all means!!!

Free publicity for prospect park in my opinion for the cost of filing some legal papers. I think soap fans are ridiculously overconfident that the online format will succeed. And if it does work the format is on a much lower scale than as a network show. I think abc was justified in canceling all my children due to low ratings. They were a little premature with one life as it was on the upswing. I do not think abc regrets either decision , people watch the chew and it is more profitable than a soap.

It does seem like ABC wants to sabotage OLTL. They cancelled OLTL, then hired the producer, head writers and all of the other writers, and then moved GH to OLTL’s time slot. Then they sent 3 front burner characters to GH. Then ABC promotes GH, and the ratings go up. It sounds like they realized that OLTL should never have been cancelled. PP paid a lot of money for the 2 cancelled soaps. It took them a while to get the financing, and to get the project off the ground. They should have all of the characters. It seems unbelievable that ABC would want to go to all of the trouble to keep the 3 actors on GH. Is KA really worth all of this effort? Well I do not think she is a good actress, and I don’t know how many GH fans really care about her. Todd is an OLTL character. If ABC lied to these actors, and did not tell them that they could be sent to OLTL if it got off the ground, then these actors should sue ABC. ABC cannot believe that fans have not embraced the replacement shows. They underestimated the loyalty of soap fans. I still watch nothing on ABC. I have tried to watch GH, but I just cannot get into it. I personally think that OLTL will do just fine without these actors. Starr and John were air hogs, and they are one dimensional actors. I would recast Starr with an actress with more maturity and acting talent. Todd will be missed, but it seems like RH is the most flexible of the three. If Todd did occasional visits, that would be great for the fans.

Ya know I thought the same thing about them lying to the actors to get them to sign them contracts? I also wonder if the Breach of Contract could null and Void the actors contracts with ABC…..

John was FAR from a One dimensional character, he is so complex and has so many layers. The John McBain character is a great character.

If ABC/D isn’t embarassed by now, they’re fools. But I guess we already knew they were fools when they cancelled OLTL and AMC. There is absolutely no reason why PP and ABC can’t share the 3 characters. It’s clear that this was ABC’s fault as soon as we realized they couldn’t make a deal. How ridiculous! I hope PP gets a lot of publicity from this lawsuit and then a big settlement.

I’m on prospect park’s side. ABC is wrong in this and every single thing PP said was true. I’m just hoping its not like the little kid at school (prospect park) is getting bullied by the big kid ( abc ) sure the bully will probably have to sit out from recess for a day or 2 but when the bully comes back he’s going to make the nerds life miserable. If PP loses they are screwed so hopefully they win and put the money into advertising OLTL.

PP will win at the end and I am totally on the side of PP. They did destroy the character of Todd Manning and he became so despicable that I tuned out of GH, when I had only tuned in to the show to watch him in the first place. I am glad that they will make Todd Manning who he truly is on OLTL once again. ABC went to far and FV is a dictator who will not get what he wants at the end. I know the characters of OLTL and have watched Todd from the first time he came to Llanview, so nobody is going to tell me that I do not know the character of Todd Manning. Go PP and show ABC that you mean business.

ABC acted in good faith. In fact, when OLTL and AMC were taken off the air and the Prospect Park deal initially fell through, the GH writers and producers were willing to breathe new life into a few OLTL characters, to their credit. No one could predict that, somehow, Prospect Park would be able to start production after all. And who knows whether this new venture will even work out. GH should be applauded, not sued.

    • Tali

Interesting… I do think these gentlemen have done an incredible job with GH. I had given up on it because I was so tired of Sonny and the endless Mob storylines and darkness. With the 50th anniversary looming, FV and RC lured back former stars and truly respected the history of the show, something former producer Jill Farren Phelps couldn’t be bothered to do. So, with or without the original OLTL actors, GH has become a much better show. And I never thought I could say that…

I do agree that it was wrong of GH to kill of OLTL characters, since they were on loan and if PP didn’t agree. Of course, PP can resurrect them. Granted, PP has a harder problem with not getting the three actors on their show, but those actors are entitled to look for work elsewhere. They aren’t the only recasts. I would say it was a mistake for PP to loan the characters to ABC, unless they were getting paid for the loan. It is wrong that ABC won’t release the URLs. I do think some at ABC do want the shows to fail. Based on just what I’ve read here, I would say I’m on PP’s side.

Rather than a continuation of the AMC and OLTL, why not just consider it all a re-boot. Those characters who were leased to GH and their actions and consequences have nothing to do with the rebooted OLTL. Has everyone forgotten Bobby Ewing and the famous shower scene?

It seems to me PP wants to do risk-free business. If viewers refuse to pay to watch the trimmed down shows online, then PP has someone other than themselves to blame. What PP needs are some imaginative writers who can write them out of this hole they are digging themselves into with such asinine actions. PP is getting their precious characters back. That should be enough.

Borrowed? The networks knew that using the most popular characters from the “extinct” soaps would boost ratings on the remaining network soap. Fortunately, Prospect Park can bring back the dead just like the network soaps have always done, but the popular actors have been “stolen: in my book. Its obvious that the networks are in the wrong. from PP’s action, looks like Todd/Star/John is OLTL. Without them three, OLTL would be dead in the water. Hence they’re fighting tooth and nail to get them back. but PP is the rightful owner of the 3 characters so I think it is fair that the 3 characters should be back and are back in landview. One would have thought THAT would be the end of the battle, not. Desperate PP, I’d say.

  124. Dana

    April 19, 2013 at 6:25 pm

Well, if the contract leasing the Llanview 3 to ABC clearly states PP should be consulted and has creative control and final approval, that is a huge grievance. If PP has the receipts for these claims, they have already won the case, imho.

That said, most of the remaining grievances come off as petty foot stomping because the actors who portray the Llanview 3 don’t wish to sign on to PP. I mean, it is impossible for Todd Manning to return to Llanview because he moved to GH? Come on, now! Furthermore, there was a question mark placed about the identity of Tomas Delgado. It wasn’t conclusive and PP should know the difference if they are going to be in this genre’s game. Having Roger Howarth air at the so-called “same time” as OLTL? One, unless I am missing something in the contract, RH/ABC, et. al., owe PP nothing if he is portraying non-OLTL characters. They don’t need PP’s permission to create a role and there was never a guarantee that RH would sign on full-time. Second, this whole “airing at the same time” thing is ridiculous as PP’s show is an online/on-demand type format and there is no “airing”. Even if there were, the last time I checked, the time the show would be available looked like it would be around 12’ish, not 2’ish.

The timing of the lawsuit is also curious, being that these so called “egregious” violations have been going on for a year and PP choose launch time, after Disney extended their launch deadline, and after the Llanview 3 actors declined to join PP’s OLTL, to file suit. Why wait an entire year to file an injunction when your brand is actively being damaged beyond repair in your words?

I believe PP has a real grievance, but they laced this lawsuit with such b.s. that I am forced to give them side-eye because their intentions look suspect as well.

Sandra M.-Thank you for posting the link to The Hollywood Reporter’s publication of the actual complaint. Without taking sides or giving my opinions, I’ll simply say this: Reading a lawsuit filing that mentions some of my favorite OLTL/GH characters was a very surreal experience. The part about Tomas Delgado and Lorenzo Alcazar was hysterical! I don’t envy the judge who gets THIS case. However, knowing how much Hollywood hates having its dirty laundry aired in public, I’m pretty sure the two sides will settle this before it reaches a trial.

I feel bad for the GH fans who have grown to like the OLTL characters. It has been a long year and half since OLTL has gone off the air. Jayne, I bet the Judge tells them the same thing you just posted. They can easily ignore everything that happened on GH. Soaps are constantly bringing back people from the dead or making (Dallas) a whole year a dream. PP can do the same this lawsuit is a joke.

ABC obviously sees that they BLEW IT by axing AMC & OLTL!!!!! ABC is terrified that we true-fans of these shows will FLOCK to P.P. to watch the programs that they couldn’t wait to kill off and get us to watch those awful, reality crap shows they put on in their places!!! And it’s SWEET to have been able to watch those worthless shows crash and burn on ABC!!!! Couldn’t pay me to watch them and haven’t, and never will!!!! THANK YOU TO PROSPECT PARK FOR GIVING ME BACK MY SHOWS!!!!

I hope PP wins the lawsuit. Do I think that PP timed the lawsuit for the publicity? Yes. Having a common enemy(ABC) brings people together. So, all the people complaining about how our soaps have been changed will watch just to get back at ABC. It was a brilliant move by PP. The only real loss to OLTL was Todd. The other two are replaceable.

It was a boneheaded move that will do absolutely no good for Prospect Park long-term, let alone short term.

        April 22, 2013 at 12:31 pm

agreed. IF, big if, PP wins this case, I’ll bet Disney will jack up the price when its time for the 2 shows renewal, to recoupe the lost and also for the punitive damage. If I were Disney, I would have rather spent all 25 millions on this case,,, I’m sure PP doesn’t have that kind of money to spend. At the end of the day PP lose,,,, and Disney has the last laughs. I feel sorry for the cast, the crew, and the fans of both shows. The idiots in charge at PP are killing their hopes, dreams, and their jobs before the shows even start to air. Good luck folks!

I agree, Pen. IF, big if, Disney lost this law suit, they will surely add this 25 Million to the price when renewal time comes for OLTL & AMC. At the end of the day, Disney has the last laugh.

You do know BF got AMC and OLTL cancelled on ABC because PP put him up to it and when ABC found out PP tricks they decided to sabotage OLTL by ruining the characters of John, Starr and Todd! They didnt have to sabatage AMC because that show sucked anyway before it even left ABC. lol

  137. jimh

    April 22, 2013 at 12:56 pm

Why would ABC lisences these shows, making money of it, to PP, then sabotage PP efforts to succeed with the reboots? How would they sabatoge AMC by using just characters from OLTL that really have nothing to do with AMC? Maybe if some AMC characters were used on GH like Erica, Jackson, and Kendall, and Kendal got pregnant by a GH character and Erica shot and killed Jackson thinking he’s the babys father then id agree about the sabotage part but i dont believe it because they used only OLTL characters! So how can they claim ABC is trying to hurt them when this really doesnt involve characters on AMC? Ghs use of OLTL characters doesnt interupt any story possibilities for AMC Why wouldnt ABC want them to succeed if they stand to make money off them?

From the looks of OLTLs previews, it doesnt look sabotaged to me!

If PP thinks it needs John, Starr and Todd to survive and cant rewrite what GH wrote from them, then PP is in trouble!

And so what if John was with ghs Sam…Natalie is now with Cutter! Plus all they have to say is Hope and Cole survived the crash. Didnt Todd fake Coles death before to keep him from returning to prison? So if he did show up in Llanview again would he have to go back to prison?

It amazes me how many GH fans are so uninformed epically with at least 2 different links for the Lawsuit on this topic! and they can read it for themselves BUT NO they run their mouths like they have something of substance to say! All you GH fans do is cry whine and Bitch, and then turn around spew a bunch of nonsense blaming PP for what ABC did! MOST GH fans go off on OLTL fans saying that if we don’t support GH then we are not True soap fans but then turn around and say “Well I’m not going to watch because PP is suing (( and rightfully so)) ABC” Hypocrite much? What does that make you??
See the AMC and OLTL fans know what is instore but you’s are so “taken and blinded” By FV and RC that you can not and for some WON’T see the writing on the wall! Now I’m not saying ALL GH fans don’t see it, but I can say MOST if NOT all GH fans on here Don’t
BTW ABC is the one that Renews the shows and PAYS them NOT Disney, Speaking of Renewal funny you have not heard anything about them Renewing GH, They renewed GH for one Year on April 12 2012 we are almost at the end of April and yet NO word on whether or not they are going to renew a show that Sits Consistently in 3rd place out of 4 shows, Remember all ABC cares about is Ratings and money and when they see what PP was able to do and for a hell of a lot cheaper they will drop GH like a Hot potato because they care nothing about the GH fans just like they did not care about the AMC and OLTL fans…..

Abc is a snake!!!!!!!!! They made the wrong move canceling the shows. They have egg on their face, the fans rebelled, back, “the revolution” need I say more? They will never admi in print or in words that they were wrong…….as far as. GH….anyone everyone could see the loan of characters from Oltlive was to boost their show……..the writers. ……was this clever on their part??? TODD was the only worthy character, who mattered.Starr Manning. ………maybe….but John Mcbane………………I kept thinking why isn’t he with Natalie???????? ABC destroyed them to stick it to the new show……….alas…now. they are in free fall….with GH bringing back same actors in new roles????????They think we are fools????????puppet’s. It will not work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!shame on them for taking us for lap dogs!!!!!!!!!!!

If everything in this article is true, I don’t blame Prospect Park even though I, as a GH fan and HUGE fan of Todd and McBain, have this to say:

We, as the fans, did not know this was a temporary arrangement. We are the ones you serve, yet we are the ones you completely screwed over here. We are the ones who lose. Everyone else will eventually either get what they want, or get compensated for losing it. But we lose. Period. And IT SUCKS.

i think that abc and pp should be thinking more about the fans i really didnt watch GH that much until i heard that some of my favorite OLTL characters was making appearances now i cant seem to turn away personally i think bring those 3 actors back as different characters is stupid what’s the big deal just share the damn characters and increase ratings for both GH and OLTL

I hope that pp wins this lawsuit. I also hope that pp recast’s the 3 characters that they had lost to abc/gh. I think oltl fans deserve that much.

  146. Prudence

    May 5, 2013 at 3:11 pm

I think what a lot of people are forgetting is how long those three characters were tied up at GH and how much it actually costs to produce these shows, build the new set, and pay for materials, props, actors and crew. This may not be entirely for greed. Maybe partially but I think it is about time that someone put ABC in their place. I think that’s also another principle behind it. I supported the charters on GH with no idea that they were cause Prospect Park to lose profit in the crew and cast that were already hired while they waited for the characters they were promised and denied. Should Prospect Park have moved on without them? Quite possibly, but they were entitled what they were promised and they were very practical about it in my opinion. I like how it appears that they respect and trust each other in the cast and crew because otherwise it would be like working with ABC all over again and those actors and producers have been through enough. So in the sake of good will and respect for the actors, leave them alone and let them work. For all the Prospect Park haters, are you really going to stop watching because of a completely justified lawsuit when you obviously waited almost two years for the relaunch? Be practical and logical about it.

Since the rebirth of both AMC & OLTL, these show’s have recieved good reviews on iTunes & Hulu. OWN even got in on the action, and the numbers prove that the audience is still there both online & by way of the traditional television. I hope the legal issues can be resolved, favorably for everyone.

‘Strahan, Sara and Keke’ Canceled by ABC; Show Aired In Timeslot That Once Housed ‘All My Children’

No matter a network tries to do, replacing All My Children, which ran for 41 years on ABC has remained as everyone that follows the world of daytime drama knows, problematic.  Now come word via Page Six that Strahan, Sara and Keke has been canceled.

The show hosted by Michael Strahan, Sara Haines and Keke Palmer if you recall, replaced the foodie show, The Chew which ran for seven seasons and was the first show to air in the timeslot that belonged for over four decades to All My Children.

Back in March of this year, Strahan, Sara and Keke took a break to make way for ABC’s News  Pandemic: What You Need to Know, a daily coronavirus report anchored by Amy Robach, Dr. Jen Ashton and sometimes TJ Holmes.

However, because the show did well in that two-week experimental run it morphed into GMA 3: What You Need to Know.  The new version of the show also talked about hot topics in the current news cycle, as well.

ABC’s Catherine McKenzie began producing the “GMA3” show four months ago and the network officially announced her as Executive Producer of the program on Thursday.

While ABC has yet to officially announce Strahan, Sara and Keke is over, a spokesperson told Page Six: “We’re proud of our teams at ‘SSK’ and ‘GMA3’ and how quickly they transitioned to producing a daily show to give people the news and information they need during an unprecedented pandemic, and conversations continue about how the show will evolve in the months ahead.”

It appears that Strahan, Sara and Keke won’t be returning; the future as many of their staff have transitioned over to ‘GMA 3’ with producers from ABC News Live, (the streaming division), helmed by McKenzie.

As for the futures of Strahan, Haines and Palmer; Strahan will continues to host Good Morning America, and they are all actively under contract with the network.

So, what do you think of  ‘Strahan, Sara and Kek’e being replaced by ‘GMA 3: What You  Need to Know’?  How long do you think that show will last in the timeslot once taken up by residents of Pine Valley? Comment below.

Eva LaRue Talks On Her Daytime Emmy Nomination, And Opens Up About The Loss Of John Callahan

For Eva LaRue, the past two months have been some of the most emotionally gut-wrenching and challenging of her life, following the passing of her ex-husband, father of her child, and dearest friend, John Callahan (Ex-Edmund, All My Children). The outpouring of support she has received not only from her former AMC cast mates, but the soap world in general illustrates just how dear Eva is to all of us, and how many people had special memories of their time with John.

While mourning the loss of Callahan along with their daughter, Kaya, there was some heartwarming and re-affirming news that any actress would love to hear. Eva was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in the Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series for her work as Celeste Rosales on CBS’ The Young and the Restless, and she is great company as her former AMC co-star Michael E. Knight (Ex-Tad) is also nominated along with her for his work on General Hospital.

The coronavirus pandemic has hit our country and world hard, but through it All My Children virtual reunions emerged as fans were engaged by the content, transported to happier times that brought them back to familiar faces in Pine Valley in which Eva participated along with her good friends, Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos and so many more, thanks to the EW. com weeklong event which concluded on Friday.

Michael Fairman TV talked with Eva in this very candid, at times heartbreaking, and open conversation where she shares details into the final days of her beloved John, her last moments with him, and how she tried to plan a memorial in his honor during the COVID-19 pandemic.

For so many of us, 2020 has certainly seen more lows then highs, but in the end for Eva, to receive a nomination now (an award she was last nominated for back in 1997 as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her work as Dr Maria Santos on All My Children) couldn’t have come at a better time. Here now is our conversation with Eva.

I’ve been thinking so much about you.  I’m glad we could do this, and in the midst of the tragedy of losing John Callahan, and then receiving a Daytime Emmy nomination.  What was your reaction when you learned you were nominated in a category with none other than your former AMC castmate and good friend, Michael E. Knight (Ex-Tad, AMC, now Martin, GH)?

EVA:  Oh, I know!  He’s the first person I texted!  I was like, “Congratulations, Michael!  Did you ever in a million years think that you and I would be in the same category of anything?”  Then I said, “And when you win this, can I just borrow it for the weekend just to dress it up and take pictures with it… just want to borrow it, just babysit the trophy for a weekend, please?” (Laughs)

Photo: JPI

What did you end up submitting that landed you the nomination for your role as Celeste on Y&R?

EVA: I submitted a scene with Peter Bergman (Jack, Y&R), who I have been friends for 30 years, if not more, and in all that time we had never worked together.  I met him when I was married to John O’Hurley (Ex- Dr. James Grainger) because John was over at The Young and the Restless at the time.  I went to a Christmas party with John to Peter and Mariellen’s house, and do you know who else was there?  Lisa Rinna (Ex-Billie, Days), and it was before she had gotten Days of Our Lives. She was dating Peter Barton (Ex-Scott Grainger, Y&R) at the time. We both ended up on soaps at the same time.  So, I submitted a scene with Peter, who is amazing, warm and open and such a great actor. Then I submitted a scene with my on-screen daughter Sasha Calle (Lola, Y&R) – I love that girl, and another one with Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, Y&R) who has also been my great friend for a couple of decades. The other scene I put on my reel was with me and Jordi Vilasuso (Rey, Y&R) who I also adore.  He is awesome and such a sweetheart.  I only had two months worth of material to draw upon.  So, I just submitted the scenes that I liked the best, and they all were within story, and all made sense.

Where is Celeste supposed to be now?

EVA:  She went back to Florida, and that was that. I would never say never to anything, but it was always supposed to be a short stint, and it was great.

So not only is it you and Michael E. Knight, but Jeffery Vincent Parise, Chrishell Stause, and Elissa Kapneck. This Guest Performer category is loaded!

EVA:  I know! I know and love, Chrishell (Ex-Amanda) because we worked together on All My Children, too, right before I left, and she is a doll.  She just might be the sweetest, kindest, girl on the planet.  She literally might be the sweetest person who ever lived!  I don’t know the other two nominees personally.  So, I’m excited for them too.  It’s such a diverse category.  It’s just really fun to be nominated with all of them.

Photo: Hallmark Channel

You were nominated before, though, for your work as Maria on All My Chldren during the emotional baby switch storyline; working opposite Susan Lucci (Ex-Erica) for a lot in it.

EVA:  Yes.  I was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for All My Children, and I was nominated for Best Original Song.  I wrote a song when Maria came ‘back from the dead’ to All My Children, with a producer friend of mine from Miami Sound Machine.

Photo: Live with Kelly Ryan

So, you’ve been doing all of these All My Children virtual reunions, which is so interesting that in this pandemic, people are looking for content, and they dip back into these beloved shows.  Was it fun doing the Santos Family reunion with everybody?

EVA:  Oh yeah, it was really, really fun.  I only saw in the big picture everybody else’s photo who was a part of it, and the people who I actually do hang out with the most, and see the most, and talk to the most, are Kelly Ripa (Ex-Hayley), Mark Consuelos (Ex-Mateo), and Sydney Penny (Ex-Julia).  I don’t see Sydney as much, but I do see her probably once every two years at least, but Sarah Michelle Geller (ExKendall) I see all the time and talk to all the time.  Kelly, Mark, and Sarah are the ones who walked me through that first week when John Callahan passed.  They literally were on the phone with me, the three of them, almost every day, but I got beautiful outreach, from what seemed like everyone.  This is when no matter how many years have passed since you have been in daytime, that the daytime family as a group – there used to be fifteen shows, now there are four – and people have bounced around and they are on other shows- – but the entire soap opera community reached out,   I cannot even tell you how much that meant to me.  It was overwhelming, and it was really, spectacularly beautiful.

Photo: JPI

I hope it was some solace to you knowing how much people loved John, and also that they love and care so deeply for you.

EVA:  I mean, people who did not even work with John reached out.  Every soap was represented by getting a hold of me, sending a text or a phone call, or if they didn’t have my personal information, they tweeted, or whatever it was… literally from every reach of soapdom.  It was amazing.

And your relationship with John was amazing with all of the ups and downs you went through; that you remained such dear friends.

EVA:  We remained really great friends all the way.

Photo: JPI

I so remember when the two of you first got together and it was this storybook real life soap couple romance.  John was always so sweet to me.  I was so, so sad, and you know, my heart just broke for you.

EVA:  I think it was just such a shock.  I don’t think anybody, and even Kaya were talking about it, because she graduated this week, and her dad is not here.  We’re not having a graduation, because of COVID-19, which sucks on top of it, but we were just kind of talking through the feelings of it.  She said, “You know what’s weird?  I guess I never pictured dad getting old, and I always wondered why, and now I know.”  When I would get on John about his heart or his health, he used to always say, ‘Oh, don’t worry Evala, (he always called me “Evala”).  I’m going to be here.  I’m going to be here a long time.  I’m fine.  I’m going to be here to walk Kaya down the aisle and see her kids and all that.  Stop worrying,” Every time he said it to me, something in my gut said, “I don’t think he is.  I don’t think he is,” but I always just dismissed that.  But never in my wildest dreams did I think John wouldn’t make it to her high school graduation.  He was only 66.

Photo: JPI

I had heard you ended up running to Palm Springs to be near John.  I can’t even imagine what that must have been like.

EVA:  The only good thing about this pandemic is that we had been shut down for only two weeks at that point.  Kaya and I got in the car.  John had some heart procedures the day before, on a Thursday.  I called him in the morning before he went in for the procedure.  I said, “Call me as soon as you get out of there.  Call me as soon as you come-to again, and you’re good,” and he said, “Okay, I will.”  I said, “I’m going to send Kaya out to you on Friday for the weekend, just so you have somebody to hang out and watch you, and I might come out too,” And then, I said, “Maybe, I’ll come down too in case you are feeling weak, just to watch out for you for the weekend.”   So, he called me after the procedure.   I said, “I cannot believe they sent you home! You just had some major heart stuff done.”  He said, “Oh no, they said I’m fine.  It was just run-of-the-mill heart stuff, angiogram…”  I was like, “Are you sure?”  He said, “Yeah, I’m fine.  I’m just tired.  I’m going to go to sleep.”  I said, “Do you want me to send Kaya out tonight?” and he was like, “No, no, no.  Send her tomorrow.”  So, in the morning, I called him at 9:00am.  No answer.  I texted him.  He always texted me like Johnny on the spot, and then texts me immediately back.  So, I call him again at 10.  Nothing.  His best friend calls me about a half-hour later, “Hey, I talked to John at about 8:00 this morning.  He said he was feeling really, really shitty and was going to go back to the hospital, and then, I texted him again at like 8:30 to just tell him something, and he hasn’t texted me back, and he always texts me immediately back.”  I said, “Oh my, God, I’ve been trying to get a hold of him for two hours; he hasn’t texted me back,”   I said, “You know what, I’ll call you back.”  So, I called his friend who lives down the street from John, and I said, “Go to his house, please right this second, knock on the door, jump the fence, knock on his bedroom, he might be asleep, I don’t know.”  So, he gets there, nobody is answering.  I said, “Break into the house please.  So, he did, and John was collapsed in the bathroom.  They called the paramedics, and as soon as they called me back and said, “John is unresponsive in the bathroom,” Kaya and I threw everything in the car, and what usually takes us two and a half hours without traffic, we made it down there from Los Angeles in an hour and forty-five minutes.

Photo: JPI

I don’t know how you made it down there in one piece. Thank, God!

EVA:  I drove so fast, like literally broke all land speed records and thank God because we got there just in time.  He was in emergency.  He hadn’t been put up in ICU yet, where we wouldn’t have been able to see him.  They weren’t going to let us in the hospital.  Thank God the person answering the door was an All My Children fan.  She was the one saying, “Sorry, no one is allowed in the hospital, no one can come in,” and I was like, “No, no, no, my ex-husband just came in.”  She said, “Was it Edmund?” and I said, “Yes, it was Edmund!”  She said, “Okay, follow me.”  Thank God for All My Children.  Thank God.  So, we followed this woman secretly, and we get to spend a half-hour with him in Emergency.  He was already on life-support, totally unresponsive, but we got to play John his favorite music, we got to just sit there and hold his hand and talk to him, and tell him how much we loved him.  Sarah Michelle Gellar called right when we were in the hospital in Emergency, and she said, “Put the phone by his ear,” so I put the phone by his ear, and she talked to John too, and she told him how much she loved him.  She used to always call him “GP”, which was short of grandpa, because she came on the show when she was 15, and she didn’t have a dad, and John acted like a dad to her – but she used to always call him “grandpa”, and he hated “grandpa”, so he was like, “You can call me “GP”, but not grandpa,” so she always called him GP.  I just put the phone by John’s ear, and what was crazy is that when she talked to him, his feet started twitching.  He started moving his feet.  Then, when Kaya was talking to him about Yankee season, he started moving his feet.  We were kind of hopeful that something was changing for the better.  We had about a half-hour with him, and then, they took him up to ICU, and then, we knew we couldn’t see him again.  They called us later that night that he had passed.

Photo: JPI

I am just so thankful that you got to see John one last time.

EVA:  I thank God every day that we got to say goodbye, because if we hadn’t gotten there in time to say goodbye, I just don’t know.

It’s very rare that a couple after a divorce, who have a child, and went from romance to dear friends, end up maintaining that relationship so many years later in their lives.  I know so many people who were together at one point in their lives, for years, and they don’t even talk to each other now.

EVA:  Well, you know, like any divorce, the first four years afterwards were super contentious but then, by year five, we kind of had this major breakthrough, and from then on, he was one of my closest friends, and one of the things we always kept alive for each other was we loved to  dance together. We fell in love, I think, dancing because originally our characters on AMC met at this country-western bar, and we had to take country line dancing lessons on the show.  They hired a choreographer for us so that during those scenes where we were falling in love, we would actually be able to do a two-step! So, we went out and practiced at Denim and Diamonds, which was a big country-western place in New York City at the time.  We used to go out with a whole group of us.  It was me, and Teresa Blake (Ex-Gloria) and Kelly Ripa, and her boyfriend at the time, Winsor Harmon (Ex-Del), sometimes Walt Willey (Ex-Jack); we just had a whole crew of us who would go out country dancing.  John and I also loved singing together.  He had the most amazing gravely kind of rockstar voice, but his real talent was harmonizing.  He could harmonize to anything.  So, when he would come over, we would sit in the kitchen and sing, and sing, and sing until the late hours because that’s what we loved to do, and that’s what he loved to do.  That’s one of my favorite last memories of us.  He was just over the month before, and Kaya’s bedroom is near the kitchen, so she came out and was like, “Can you two shut up?”  It was like two in the morning and we were still singing in the kitchen. (Laughs)  John was my dear friend and my confidant.

Photo: ABC

Were you able to have some kind of service during this stay-at-home pandemic we are all dealing with, in order to mourn the loss of John?

EVA:  It’s been so crazy.  We couldn’t even have a funeral.  That’s what made it all the more heartbreaking.  There were less than twenty of us, and we just got on a Zoom call and memorialized John.   I thought we were going to do a big Zoom memorial, but it seemed so overwhelming and so impersonal, it just was rubbing us wrong in every way.  Every way we were looking at it, we were like, “Oh my, God, we just can’t.”  We wanted to invite everybody he had ever worked with, and we were like, “No, we want to do that when everything can open back up again, and invite every person, and have a party” because John was always the life of every party.  Maybe we can do that in the fall or next year.  I kept trying to write something for the small memorial we did do for three days.  I kept coming back to this one song, because John was always the consummate bartender, too.  I sang a song that Bette Midler sang on the very last episode of Johnny Carson.  It was “One for My Baby (and One More for the Road)” and it’s about a bartender who has got a big personality and a lot to say.   I changed some of the words around a bit just to reflect who John was, and so, I ended up singing for it instead of speaking.  We always talked about that last episode of Carson; how stunningly emotional it was when Bette sang that song to kind of sing Johnny off for of all of his years on the air.  So, that’s what I did and because we loved to sing together, it just made sense.

Photo: HutchinsPhoto

I do think you touched upon something, earlier, too.  I don’t think any other genre would have that kind of unbridled camaraderie.  It’s such a family, like you said.  I don’t think you would find that quite like this; certainly in show business.

EVA:  I really don’t think you can. Even though there is always a good amount of competition in the soaps as well; between the soaps it’s like they are any sports team, but there is always a level of respect, love, and familial connection within the community.  I think that is why they have stood the test of time.  I really do think that is what hooks our audience, that is what keeps them there after all of these years, even though unfortunately the genre is antiquated looking, there is something about it that is nostalgic, familial, and comfortable for people.

Every time I talk about All My Children, why do you think everybody go ga-ga for it, when it’s been off the air for several years now?

EVA:  It speaks to people’s childhoods.  It speaks to how we grew up.  You can’t undo nostalgia.  You can’t.  It’s in the way we grew up, the things we loved, the things that we scheduled our lives around, the people we fell in love with on the shows that we watched, who we cared about and loved their storylines. I grew up watching All My Children, General Hospital, and Days of Our Lives.

It must have been a spectacular moment for you when you realized you were actually in Pine Valley and a member of the cast of All My Children then?

EVA:  It was amazing.  I was a fan when I got the show.  I was a straight up fan.  I fangirled walking through that dressing room hallway for the first time! I was trying to keep it in check, but you know … (Laughs)

So, in closing, you would say, “Thrilled to be nominated”?

EVA:  Yes.  So fun.  It has really been a rollercoaster of a couple of months here.  That nomination was literally the bright, shining spot in all of this.
