And the big returns keep a-coming under the new regime of Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati as they try and breathe some life and ratings into the ailing General Hospital!

Word today out exclusively from EW.com is that popular 80’s icon and fan favorite, Rick Springfield is checking back into General Hospital for a few episodes to see his son, Dr. Patrick Drake, played by Jason Thompson.  Springfield will return to the set in February.  From the looks off this, it would seem with the upcoming departure of Kimberly McCullough (Robin) from the canvas, the older Dr. Drake may be needed to help his family!

General Hospital fans will recall that the last time Noah was in PC he had a drinking problem and needed help, which lead him off the canvas.  So now with Tristan Rogers, Finola Hughes, Emma Samms and Rick Springfield making visits or staying longer term, there should be plenty of drama to tune-in to GH come mid-February through March for starters!

What do you think of Rick’s return to GH?

I haven’t watched in years mid 90’s, but what about Bobbie? What has become of her?
Since Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati have taken over and OLTL is gone.. I started back to GH today.

I have to wonder. Are the vets returning to save GH,or to say goodbye to the fans?

Bye bye GH! The end is near! Not the best ratings but the last to go!

You are so negative…don’t sound like a loyal soap fan at all !!!!!!! (lipstickcat?///) Sounds like you want it to fail & get canceled!!!!!!!! Don’t need comments like that.. If you don’t like the soaps , keep your comments to yourself !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Comments are for loyal soap fans !!!!!!!!!

I AM a loyal soap fan!!! I’ve been through both AMC & OLTL being cancelled! Open your eyes! The same thing happened with them! They brought back all the old characters to say goodbye! And the time slot is already been given away to Katie Couric! Face the facts! We shouldn’t get fooled like last time by false hope & false promises! Don’t be so stupid!

Well the ratings for GH have gone up since your last comment were posted…… You say you are a loyal soap fan and so am I… But I have a different feelings abot gh being cancelled or not…The Revolution ratings are horrid… There’s at least a good chance GH could take The revolution’s time slot at 2:00pm this coming fall..We can’t give up…. I try to have a positive attitude… Maybe GH will pull threw and surprise everyone… It’s not over till it’s over…I hope we are not dissappointed for a third time…I e-maile a lot of the big wigs of abc disney today. .. See what happens with that.. I think they are afraid to answer, because they know I am right.. Or they simply don’t care…They better care abc because they will have a riot on their hands if they don’t keep GH on ABC….The saying goes: THREE STRIKES AND YOUR OUT!!!!!!!!! Do they really want this to happen????? I guees they don’t mind losing MILLIONS of VIEWERS…. They are soooooooo foolish & they are clueless… They are having(ABC) many blonde moments!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have alway’s liked Rick Springfield!!!!!!!!! Saw him years ago carngey hall in N. Y. I enjoyed it very much… I remember those pants with the zippers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Need I say more………………I will watch him on GH & also the OLTL crew!!!!!!!!!!!! I am still rooting for OLTL!!!!!!!!!!! Hope Agnes Nixon gets the rites back!!!!! And see OLTL on another channel…..Rick Springfield ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JESSE”S GIRL!!!!!!!!!!! Watching GH in Mid to late Feb…… Hope the writers from OLTL can turn GH in the right direction!!!!!!!!!

he looks weird

What do you mean he looks WEIRD!??????????????????? (Jan)

I love Rick Springfield. I cant wait 2 c him… I wish he would stay on GH PERMANENTLY

Another welcome return! February is looking to be a very interesting month with all of the new people on the canvas. I just hope they are not killing Robin off. With many of these returns it looks like…

“What do you think of Rick’s return to GH?”

A step in the RIGHT direction.

Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati are slowly (and hopefully surely) bringing General Hospital to its former glory. Good work guys!

LOVE IT! Bring back the glory days of GH!

I agree 100%…….

Wow Rick Springfield!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jesse’s Girl!!!!!!!! Will watch oh Gh with OLTL crew In Feb…

SO excited for Rick’s return! I want Noah to meet Emma, and I’m thrilled Patrick will have the support of his father around during such a difficult time. It’s only for two episodes (per RS’s twitter account) but I’m hoping he could squeeze in some time for Matt while he’s at it. Noah has been sorely missed and though he should have been invited back a long time ago, I’m super pumped for his return to GH.

On a side note, the last time Noah left he did NOT have a drinking problem. SOD also said that on their site and it’s WRONG. Last time (2008) we saw him, Matt was revealed to be his son and he and Anna were starting a tryst. We didn’t hear from him again until just recently when Matt got his journal and a phone call from him. Even at Scrubs’ wedding in Dec 2008 (and Nov 2008, for the first one) there was barely a mention of him. But it was NOT because of alcohol, as far as we know. Just thought I’d clear that up.

Agreed! Thanks for that

YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! Great News for GH and their fans

i am so excited that rick is coming back – i hope they bring back jackie zeman as well…………….

Absolutely thrilled!!! I love, love, love Rick Springfield. Wish he would stay longer or recur more often! I wish everyone would be more positive about gh staying on the air. It has not been cancelled yet so keep hope alive! Bringing back beloved characters both from the past and from oltl is a step in the right direction!

I cant wait to see the new and improved port charles,Its been a while since I felt so excited about general hospital, cant wait to see noah again.when does ron and franks work start? should be soon.

Frank’s work started to air this past Monday. Ron’s work will air later this month.

I know that Days reboot was largely a failure. But I’m hopeful that GH’s reboot will be more successful.

I thought I saw his name ,I pretty much have to be right in front of the tv to catch the names, kassie depava said she is leaving for california and will start taping and she starts being on around the 27th,I am looking forward to seeing her and all the rest of the old cast of general hospital coming home.

A W E S O M E !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so excited that Rick Springfield is coming back! I think with the return of Rodgers and samms, the cast on GH will learn something… like acting! I just Hope that the writers find some normal excitement! Yeah DRAKE !!!!

I loved GH in the 80’s because of Rick, I loved when he came back several years ago. I wish he could just stay. Please make him stay this time. I would love to see him all the time !!!!!!

I love that Rick Springfield is back on GH as Noah Drake. I hope he stays for awhile if not FOREVER! Even if he’s only on once in awhile,it would be better than not having him on at all. Patrick needs him now.

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”

Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.

Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. She tells her, “Pick out your most seductive suit.” Soon, we see Serena in her bathing suit at the Metro Court face to face with Michael.

Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Take a look at the official GH spoilers for the week below.

MONDAY, AUGUST 3

TUESDAY, AUGUST 4
Brook Lynn and Chase celebrate a milestone. Trina gets an earful. Carly’s plan backfires. Curtis is skeptical. Michael is anxious about his family’s’ future.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5

FRIDAY, AUGUST 7

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Published

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
