Bryan Craig as DAYS Javi or a Return as GH’s Morgan?

Two-time Daytime Emmy winner Bryan Craig continues to search for his next gig and is definitely offering up his services to daytime soaps.

After the news broke of Days of our Lives, Al Calderon landing a primo series regular role on NBC’s Brilliant Minds, which in turn vacates the part of Javi Hernandez on the Peacock streaming soap opera, Craig had something to say about it.

Bryan expressed on X directly to the official Days of our Lives handle, “I hear you’re in need of a “Javi.” However, not to be left out, the former Morgan Corinthos of General Hospital also sent out a post over GHFCW 2025, which read, “Just want to say thank you. I appreciate all the love and support all the General Hospital fans and the tabloids have given me. It will ultimately be up to ABC casting, ABC Network and Frank Valentini.” Valentini is the current executive producer of General Hospital.

It would seem Craig s campaigning for a return to Port Charles, when he initially teased via his Instagram story a post that contained, the words “Morgan Corinthos” paired with “IYKYK” which means “If you know, you know.”

Then, in a post made by Michael Fairman TV on X, asking fans the musical question,”Is Bryan Craig returning to General Hospital on contract as a ‘back-from-the-dead’ Morgan Corinthos, yes, no, maybe? Craig responded, “What do the fans want?”

During his original General Hospital run, Bryan Craig won two Daytime Emmys back-to-back in 2016 and 2017 in the Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series. Since then, he has made a few brief appearances on GH – as a vision of Morgan to Ava Jerome (Maura West) back in 2018- and to his father Sonny (Maurice Benard) back in 2024.

Since leaving GH, Craig has starred in ABC’s Grand Hotel which was executive producer by soap alum, Eva Longoria (ex-Isabella, The Young and the Restless and ex-Gabrielle, Desperate Housewives), Freeform’s Good Trouble, and numerous indie films and more.

So, now that Bryan has expressed interest in replacing Al Calderon as DAYS Javi Hernandez, would you like to see him on Peacock, or back to his old stomping grounds at ABC and General Hospital as Morgan Corinthos? Let us know your pick via the comment section below.

Definitely should return as Morgan. Even if it’s not immediately… I mean they need to get rid of Drew first, and get to the point of whatever this new “Legion of Dumb” is up to, with Sidwell, the Nutty Professor, their as of yet unnamed boss (sure to be somebody we know, and hopefully not somebody who slipped past my infernal security). And however the recently paroled Britt Westbourne is involved in all of this, of course.

I don’t see him fitting into the Hernandez clan though. And definitely can’t see him paired up with Leo, for Hell’s sake!

As bad as Drew has become, I’ll take him over Morgan any day. Drew serves a purpose- he inflicts misery on everyone around him. This is called conflict which is needed to propel the storyline forward. Moreover, Matheson is talented and seems like a likable guy. Morgan returning from the dead serves no purpose. This character is not needed. Sometimes an actor’s personality breathes through the character they play( especially if they’re not a gifted actor). Craig’s arrogant, entitled and obnoxious personality came through loud and clear with his portrayal of Morgan. Don’t like Morgan, don’t think I like Craig either.

IT’S TIME FOR MORGAN TO COME HOME!!

There, I said it.

No. It really isn’t. I can’t stand him. There, I said it

Why does this subject keep coming up? Bryan Craig’s Morgan back on GH? NOOOOOO!!!!!!

Wrong question, Mr. Fairman! The question should be, should Evan Hofer come back to reprise the classic and legendary role of Dex? Answer? YES! YES! A thousand times yes! Yes, yes and yes!!

Reminds me of a 90s infomercial- Stop the Insanity!

Classic? No.
Legendary? No.

I don’t think Dex is coming back anytime soon. However, if Carlivati returns to GH, anything is possible.

Oh why are you giving hope ?

No, I am still in agreement. I don’t think there is a need for the character.

And even a less of a need for ReRon to return to GH. Or Days. Or any other show. Unless it’s on Bravo or some other dragonshit channel that doesn’t air in Hell.

Ya think? That would be WONDERFUL! Thank you.

This continues to come off as a desperate need of attention.

When you asked a similar question barely a month ago, the NOs were definitely in the lead.

Sonny has enough offspring on the canvas. As for DAYS, would Craig be believable in that role?

Morgan does not need to come back; not to mention, Bryan Craig bashed soaps and now that primetime won’t hire him, he desperately wants back in.

As for Javi… I don’t think he understands what would be required of that role.

As for Javi – unless Craig is making a revelation about himself, the recast for that role should be an “out” actor.

I don’t agree with that. At all. That’s like saying only straight men should play straight roles.

Maybe in this case, since Javi originated with an openly gay actor, they should replace him with another gay man. But on the other horn, the most “iconic” gay couple in Days history, the legacy kids Will Horton & Sonny Kiriakis, were portrayed by two straight actors (as far as I know) and they managed to pull it off.

Don’t get me started on the “replacement” Will though. I was actually OK with it when Ben gave him the necktie treatment.

Representation matters. On GH, I’m more invested in Lucas & Marco knowing both are gay IRL. That doesn’t mean I didn’t like Ryan Carnes or Parry Shen – individually, but as a couple not too interesting.

I’m not the biggest Rikkart fan, but it’s nice to see him let loose in the role of Leo.

Lucas and Marco’s love scenes are all the more real knowing both men are gay. Marco is my new favorite character on GH.

Leo has evolved into a decent character in recent months. As opposed to the cartoonish walking stereotype he used to be. Javi seemed to “inspire” him to be a better version of himself, so that’s one reason why it might be a sad thing to break up this couple… or recast one of them.

Still waiting for the inevitable battle that’s going to happen when Sophia’s fundaMENTAList mother realizes that a gay couple is taking care of her baby grandson.

I like Bryan Craig, but this an embarrassing look for him, in my opinion. It’s like he’s begging for a job. And this isn’t the first time he’s done it recently. If Frank wanted to bring him back as Morgan, he would. Doesn’t seem like it’s in the plans right now. They’re at their quota of back from the dead storylines at the moment.

This is like Robert Adamson publicly complaining about not getting to audition for the role of Michael when Chad Duell left. Going on social media and looking desperate and begging for a job doesn’t seem like the best way to go.

I hope you are right. I prefer the character of Morgan to stay gone. I am weary though since the other characters have mentioned him a lot this year.

I feel it’s way worse than Robert Adamson ( who promptly deleted his Tweet). Adamson, in the flush of the moment, expressed his disappointment on not being asked to audition for a part he has played well while filling in for Chad Duvall. Smart move? No but an understandable one. Craig has systematically and methodically generated a one man PR team for himself trying to galvanize soap viewers to secure him a job on GH. It’s not working.

Definitely do not want him as javi keep him in port chuck no thanks

We don’t want him!

Morgan

Virtually NONE of the returns on GH have worked (Jason, Lucky, Britt, and on and on).

Agreed on Jason and Lucky, but Britt remains to be seen.

Ric and Liesl were both excellent. Lucas (a recast more than a return) is more of a focus now than he’s been in ages.

Britt’s story hasn’t started so how has it not worked? I love that Jason’s back. Lucky COULD have worked but they should have known in advance Jonathan Jackson would bail. Not sure why they believed him when he seemed to have indicated he’d be around for the long haul.

DAYS tapes 9 months in advance. If they recast Javi, it’s already been done.

Morgan for sure.

Shouldn’t Javi be hispanic?

Just an innocent question is the character of Drew anything like the character Miller created? I have not watched this soap since 2019 .

Nothing like Billy Miller’s Drew.

THE only choice: Morgan Corinthos of General Hospital.

ARE SOAP MORE RELEVANT IN 2026?

With the daytime soaps being mentioned in the mainstream of late, including a recent New York Times essay, Ryan Gosling’s high praise of Days of Our Lives icon Deidre Hall (Marlena), Late night host, John Oliver asking to be cast on a soap after doing a bit on his show, it seems daytime drama may be culturally relevant again, or is it really?

What did our genre provide viewers emotionally? And what has current programming gained technically but lost emotionally?

Join us with your comments and questions for Sheri in the live chat, as we talk the pros and cons of today’s daytime soap opera and daytime television landscape and delve into Sheri’s soap writing history and the characters she created or had a penchant for and learn about her new endeavors and outside projects.
