Bryan Craig Talks on General Hospital Return as Morgan, But Admits, “I’m Surprised That They Haven’t Recast the Role in Such a Long Time”

When two-time Daytime Emmy winner, Bryan Craig, got a call from the GH powers-that-be, that they were interested in him reprising his role as the late Morgan Corinthos, he needed a little bit of intel before saying “yes.”

However, when he learned that his one-day appearance would be in scenes with his soap opera TV dad, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) he shared, “I was like, ‘Say less! Yeah, I’m down,”‘ as he revealed to Soap Opera Digest when he dished on tomorrow’s August 5th episode.

Craig, who has gone to appear on primetime’s Grand Hotel and Good Trouble, says he is very honored that GH would still have him back since he has been away from the show for so long, adding, “it’s a really nice compliment.”

However, Bryan was also shocked that the no other actor has taken on the part noting, “I’m surprised that they haven’t recast the role in such a long time. I’m very grateful because I love working with Maurice and I love what we did towards the end of that run.” In story, Morgan was diagnosed with bipolar disorder just like his father, Sonny.

GH has been tight-lipped as to the specifics of Morgan’s upcoming encounter with Sonny. However, with Sonny being off of his correct dose of meds for quite along time, thanks to the machinations of Valentin Cassadine, and more recently, Ava Jerome (knowing about it and doing nothing, but using it to her own advantage), the stage is set for heart-tugging father/son reunion, even if one of them is in the great beyond.

Bryan also shared he wasn’t sure what side of Morgan’s personality to bring out in the scenes, “I didn’t know, so I was just kind of prepared whatever the director wanted.  He added, “The stuff we filmed went great. It was really powerful, and we were both really in it.”

So, are you looking forward to Bryan’s return? Do you think GH should have recasted the role, or let the character stay dead? Comment below.

The character of Morgan is more valuable dead than alive. If Sonny did have SO MANY other kids, they’d probably consider bringing Morgan back. Michael has to stay because of the Q heritage. And Dom is such a good actor that Dante will be around for some time to some. So, Morgan will remain dead unless the show is cancelled, at which point, he’ll be found.

You mean, if he didn’t have so many kids, right? Which I don’t know why you would say that. Lots of people have a lot of kids.

Yes, unfortunately we can’t edit after posting.

While people have lots of kids, there’s a finite number of characters a soap can support. If too many people are related, it limits the potential romantic partnerships. A show also needs balance – the Corinthos are just one of the core families.

Morgan being Morgan hopefully will say to Sonny, ” WTF dad, let’s find out whats really going on with you, so we can do something about it, Sonny Corinthos never gives up”. These days, my writing can’t be much worse than what they’ve been throwing at us.

I hope Bryan comes back as Morgan and stays

That would be great!

Shocked to see “Morgan” on 8/6/2024. I got emotional seeing the original actor even if only for a day. It was a beautiful sentiment. I remember Sonny talking Morgan off a ledge.

I believe they should work a deal with Craig to have him come back. Cause even though he came back as a ghost, it could be played he came back as Sonny’s imagination due to his conditions. I feel having a story plot where Morgan’s been held somewhere by the Jerome family and escaped to get revenge on Ava would be a nice twist.

Except Ava is all that remains of the Jerome family up on Earth. The rest of them are down here in Hell, still fighting with each other!

Yes that is what I want to !!!

No , Brian should come back

Loved Morgan’s visit with his dad. Hopefully, he gave him the kick in the butt, he needed, and very encouraging seeing Sonny visit Kevin, for help. He sure started at the right place. Hopefully, it won’t take too long to find out why he’s been acting like a jerk. Gee,Bryan Craig looked really good, maybe give Sonny a reason to look into his death again, bring him back, this time for real.

Please bring him back full time

The Friday, June 12 episode of General Hospital marked the last for Daytime Emmy winner, Kate Mansi as Kristina Corinthos-Davis. As previously reported, the character was accepted to medical school at UCLA in California, making the end of the run for Mansi who played Kristina for three years.

The decision to depart GH was all Mansi’s decision and as also previously reported, GH executive producer Frank Valentini had left the door open for a return down the line and is currently not planning on recasting the part.

In story, in her final episode, having already said goodbye on Thursday’s show to her parents, Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), Kristina meets up with her siblings, Molly (Kristen Vaganos) and Michael (Rory Gibson). The three have a chat at the Metro Court Gardens.

SIBLING ADVICE

Before she leaves Port Charles, Kristina tells her brother and sister, she wants them to be there for each other, while each is managing their personal relationships: Molly with Cody (Josh Kelly) and Michael with Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Kristina thanked them for taking her to the airport and urged them to lean on each other while she was gone.

In her last scene, Kristina tells Molly and Michael right before they head for her flight, “I want each of you to be the person the other can call. OK? To show up for each other, no questions asked. Because that’s what you’ve been for me.”

KATE’S NEXT MOVE

Speaking with TV Insider, Mansi shared what she is up to next which has included accompanying her husband, Matt McInnis to Europe. Kate explained she had made the decision a few months back to exit GH. “I knew my contract was up in April and I wanted to give them the proper notice so that they could plan their future storytelling.” Kate added, “Given that my husband is working in Europe predominantly and I’ll be traveling so much, that’s what this next chapter of my life will be.”

Kate expressed that the news of her exit was hard to share with people, because she would feel sad when talking about it. Ultimately, the first to know were Nancy Lee Grahn, Kristen Vaganos, and Rory Gibson. She chose not to tell Maurice Benard, because she was so close to him in real-life, until they filmed their last episode together which aired yesterday.

There’s more! Kate gave a final tease that she has project in the works sharing, “I’m excited to have booked a short-term project in the fall that works within my schedule.” As to a future return to GH, Mansi doesn’t rule it out, “It’s Port Charles. Anything is possible.”

So, what did you think of Kate’s final scenes as Kristina with Sonny, Alexis, Molly and Michael? Do you hope Kate come back in a few years time? Weigh-in via the comment section. In case you missed it, you can catch the scenes where Kristina tells her parents she is leaving Port Charles below.
