Cady McClain IN As DAYS Jennifer Temporarily Replacing Melissa Reeves

Rumors that have been swirling are confirmed true.  Cady McClain is coming to Salem and Days of our Lives to replace Melissa Reeves temporarily as the new Jennifer Horton Deveraux.  The casting news was confirmed by a Days spokesperson, according to Soap Opera Digest.

Daytime fans recall, Cady is a two-time Daytime Emmy winner and has previously appeared as Dixie on All My Children, Rosanna on As the World Turns and Kelly on The Young and the Restless.  McClain has already begun filming as Jennifer.

Reeves, who commutes from Nashville to Los Angeles to tape episodes of Days of our Lives, decided not to return to set when the NBC soap opera resumed production earlier this month due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic,

In addition, Melissa became a grandmother last month with her daughter Emily’s first child, and now soon will welcome her son Larry’s first child later this month, which is another reason Reeves chose to stay put in Tennessee.

So, what do you think of the Jennifer switcheroo? Excited to see what Cady brings to the role? Comment below.

Cady McClain is great, but Jennifer will be hard to recast for long-time fans. It might have been better to just send Jennifer out of town for a while. Still, as a casual fan, I will enjoy seeing Cady back on TV!

i don’t see why not? wouldn’t it be nice to see staring back at you… something more than deer stuck in headlight? I’m no fan of dixie cooney, yet she would be a daring breath of fresh air. perhaps even Jack would be more passionate.. he’s still got it, somewhere

I’m hoping with JJ back… AND Marci Miller as Abs… this once again.. family intact WITH DAD can reinvigorate . Hurrah! why not !

@DAYS can use her smelly paycheck for other actors who REEL

she’s reeked for a long time… and if another one’ Grans Jewel can be fired… time for Jenny Bear to hit the skid

Anita: I find it so hard to believe that @DAYS RON C… should have done a better job w/Eve… WITH Jack… there was a certain hinderance to wanting Jack to be a bad boy… argh! wait for Jenny Bear. yet we all knew Jack and Eve passionISTA. Ta Da ! so yeah !!!! I certainly do not see ??? Jennifer DOING ANY THING for Jacks all around uproarious flirty trysts , benders, even manhandling … just seeing him stretch his acting chop.

see that ^^^^^ pic above with Melissa Reeves… tighten up your bun Jenny Bear. she so reminds me of @General Hospital… Amanda Barrington’ high browed “chic” Anne Jeffreys.

God it was so stifling and upchuck to watch Melissa Reeves frontburner in hellacious times… with Dr. Daniel … oh that was PAIN.

for your point… : since Ms. high brow virtue NEEDS a let. take all the time you NEED. GIVE MATTHEW Ashford a REEL… at least let him interact with Casey Moss AND Marci Miller.. jeez he has the cream of the crop.. with these two. I HOPE beyond ALL HOPE that Cady McClain lights FIRES

truthfully… it’s not that hard a let… Hope was fired. it’s simply time to move on… Melissa Reeves has nothing underfoot to contribute. FLY Jenny Bear… don’t drop

That’s true—-albeit, Jenny was never much to my liking, it will be weird watching someone else in the role. I do like Cady very much, but it will take a while getting used to her as Jennifer.
One little comment—what woman in her right mind sends her husband ( newlywed at that) to the other side of the world with such noblesse? Nicole has surely come a long way from her insane days. Not I—I guess I’m selfish and inconsiderate?
Methinks the writers should have come up with a more viable and satisfactory reason—-oh, I don’t know—send Eric off on a business trip until a replacement was in place? This is simply too dumb for me to digest.

Hi Celia,
Here is something we can agree on I hope. I think they have other plans for Nicolle, another man I bet. I don’t think she’s ever been very long without one. I can’t see her sitting around being the good little wife while her husband is off doing good work, even though she does have a child hidden away somewhere and also what would poor Allie do without a nanny to take care of her baby while she runs all over town accusing Chip of raping her while she was so drunk she didn’t have a clue who she was with. Excuse the rant. I just get so at all this sometimes. On another note. I love Cady and welcome her as Jennifer, hopefully giving her a little more oomph! Stay well Celia, and your family. It probably doesn’t effect you but I hear from my nieces and on TV of all the New Yorkers leaving the city to live and consequently invading the Island to get inland.

THIs is what I am talking about. No offense, but this might finally give Jennifer Rose Horton some depth, in terms of being a character. I know some are saying it is a temporary casting, but others are saying it is permanent, and I hope it is permanent. Buh-bye, Melissa Reeves! This was long overdue!

Cady can do for Jennifer what Lindsay Hartley did for Sam on GH – suddenly make her relevant and interesting again.

AMEN

EXACTLY!!!!! Thank You.

My bet is that TPTB are keeping their options open. If Cady works out, “temporary” might become “permanent,” especially if Melissa’s leave of absence drags on. If viewers don’t accept her as Jennifer–and Reeves has a very passionate fan base, so that’s a real possibility–then they have “Oh, it was always meant to be temporary” to fall back on.

Cady’s fantastic; I’ll be interested to see what she brings to the role.

WOW it’s just the best… in terms of NOT HAVING 8 plus months ‘in the can

when production restarted September, 1st… they had thru the Middle of October bagged

so in terms of being streamlined with the other shows… THIS IS IT FAN. forever hold your piece…

let’s be “grand” overtly speak about

Melissa is the one and only Jen…and is the Horton home gone for good?-what is the real reason Will and Sonny were written out???…Once Nina finds out Nelle is her daughter on GH im done with soaps!!!

Will & Sonny were written out because they were played by terrible actors who couldn’t remember their lines. I’m not trying to be mean, I’m sure they are nice people, but their acting was painful to watch.

Francine, Freddie Smith and Chandler Massey were known as the “one take wonders” on the Days set, meaning they filmed their scenes in one take. That means they knew their lines and saved time and money for the production. You may not have cared for their acting, but it’s inaccurate to say they couldn’t remember their lines. Anyone interested in learning more about this will (pun intended) find it in Freddie’s podcast.

Well chandler got 3 Emmy’s and freddie got 1 so the acting definitely wasn’t that bad….ijs

Pretty sure the Horton home set is gone for the time being, due to budget.

Just hope it doesnt go the way The Hughes home went,,,

I love Cady McClain! This could be interesting

I love it, Congrats to you Cady, you have been gone too long.

As much as I will miss Missy as Jennifer, I can’t blame her for wanting to be protective for herself and her family. God damn COVID!!! I am happy for her being a grandmother though.

Temporary?? Yeah, we’ll see about that…..

Though at least they hired a legitimate actress this time, and didn’t change to a near-lookalike literally in the middle of a scene like they did with that whole Stephanie Cameron fiasco several years back.

Not an AMC fan so not really familiar with Cady’s work. But if she’s not a racist Candace Owens fan shilling for a homophobic fast food chain, that’s already an improvement, right?

Whats wrong with Candace Owens?

Please make this casting change permanent!!

Good luck to Missy they have a wonderful family Scott does concerts they also have a coffee web site two grand babies coming so time to go she had a great run ! Even though I have not watched in years let it go stop with the attacks on her my only advice to her is get off social media enjoy your family and let it go ! She had a wonderful run and don’t attack her she is indeed a sweet lady ! You know sometimes you just have to let people do their thing understand where she was coming from but when you are in show biz you are better off not to express your views because you are always going to insult somebody even though that was not your intention ! Think Michael Jordan said it best stay away from politics and religion because everybody on both sides buy my sneakers !

Social media is a major problem..im slowly leaving all of it in the coming months..as for Days-they dont show the Horton Home anymore

If she stopped supporting attacks on people of colour and gays, people would probably stop attacking her. Just saying.

All people should stop attacking each other period!!!

I agree ; even though, we know that it won’t happen.

Glad MR is putting her health & family first!! There’s been a lot of drama swirling around her for awhile so, I hope it works out. As a fan of the Johnson family, I hope we don’t start seeing these characters disappear.

I like Melissa and I remember her as Jade from Santa Barbara. I like her as Jennifer on Days and I will miss seeing her. But I’m happy for her to be able to enjoy time with her new grandchildren. ….something sweet for her to look forward to during this new normal.

CONGRATULATIONS to Cady McClain! HOORAY for viewers! Cady has the talent and heart to add depth to the character of Jennifer. I, too, hope this casting change becomes permanent. I now have a reason to watch Days again.

A huge win for Days viewers . . . and for Melissa Reeves who now has more time to enjoy her grandchildren and Chik-Fil-A.

I HOPE AND PRAY TO GOD that Cady McClain permanently makes the role of Jennifer her own!!!!! Oh…and BTW…WELCOME ABOARD CADY!!!!!

Later.

Good riddance to that homophobic cardboard cutout Missy Reeves. DAYS scored a real win with Cady McClain – an actual actor!

^^^”Keep Matthew Ashford/Jack Deveraux on the show with his Johnson…”

Mwah ? New SHOW ?

HERE YE: HERE YE: ^^^^ the absolute TRUTH

“I don’t want Jack to be sexless loser or coward or monk either especially if they bring snoozefest Jennifer/Melissa Reeves again she can come back before the show ends”

HURRY RON.. Ms. Cady AND Matthew

Francine…’homophobic cardboard cutout’…too funny…LOL…and very, very accurate!!!!! Thank You.

Francine…have a good one.

Melissa Reeves can come back before the show ends reunite with Jack/Matthew Ashford depending on the situation.
