Two-time Daytime Emmy winner, Cady McClain, will be exiting Days of our Lives in the role of Jennifer Horton Deveraux this month.

According to Soap Opera Digest, McClain, who was brought in by the NBC soap opera to temporarily replace Melissa Reeves in the role, will be departing the show on-air on the February 17th episode.

In story, look for Jennifer to leave Salem for Boston.

As for Reeves, no word yet if she is returning to reclaim the part she had played for decades.

Melissa had chosen to stay in Nashville with her family during the Covid-19 pandemic and not travel back and forth to Los Angeles.

Cady first came on to the Salem scene in the fall of 2020 and was quickly involved in a front burner storyline.

Michael Fairman had chatted with McClain and her Days co-star, Rob Scott Wilson (Ben) back at the end of November of last year, where she spoke at length on taking on the role of Jennifer, for a video on The Michael Fairman Channel.  You can watch it below.

So, are you sad to see Cady exit Days? Do you hope Melissa Reeves returns to the role?  Share your thoughts via the comment section.

I love Cady in the role. She’ll be very missed.

They should keep her, she is much better than Melissa Reeves
,

I am sad to see Cady leave! I don’t want Melissa Reeves to come back! I would rather see Cady come back and stay on as Jennifer.

I agree I would love Cady McClain come back to Days and stay on as Jennifer

this totally sucks why they would send Jennifer off to Boston, if Melissa is not returning. I LOVE Cady McClain as Jennifer Horton, the role fits her so well and she’s got great chemistry with Jack, too and others. What the hell is DAYS thinking to send her off to Boston. Is Melissa returning, I doubt it. I wonder if this is temporary for the character to be written off for a bit for a longer would make no sense. I want Cady to STAY.

It is probably story related, with her mother being killed by her step daughter Gwen, she may be ironically going to Boston for therapy. I too would rather see Cady stay. Never been a big fan of M.R

I wish Cady the best, she is a fabulous actress and made the impossible work, she replaced Melissa Reeves as Jennifer. This show knows how to shoot itself in the foot. Great actors being sacrificed for dribble. When you have a show that’s writing is heavily plot driven and mediocre at best, the only thing that saves it is good actors. Are we going to see Jack go with her, or is the case of another legacy character being sacrificed for ReRon’s pet Gwen? RC’s legacy will be writing Days into cancellation.

Cady did a great job! Melissa Reeves will forever be Jennifer Horton. Hope she returns to her role.

I don’t watch Days but after what happened with Missy Reeves last year, I don’t want her racist ass back in LA. She really soured on a lot of the current cast members and I’m sure they don’t want her back either.

I am glad Melissa Reeves in returning as I didn’t like Cady at all. I’m sick of conservative people being called racist. The majority of Days viewers are conservative, so take your racism and wokeness elsewhere.

She is racist because she liked a post? Get a life. She has a right to free speech and to like something on FB. She is not a racist, just conservative. At least she has the dignity to not respond to the mean co-stars she had. Also, the person that made the post is black.

Could Cady be the first of DOOL actors written off the show? Or was Cady written off the show to make room for Linda Dano?

Linda Dano is only temporary. She did two weeks of filming. I read somewhere else that Cady had a family thing to take care of. Who knows, maybe she will be back. Here’s hoping!

So glad they are writing her out, as I can only see Melissa Reeves as Jennifer. Nothing against Cady, but she just wasn’t cutting the mustard with me. Hopefully Melissa will be back!

I agree!

They can never bring back Melissa Reeves

Adam, to each his own.

THIS BITES !!!! horror upon horror , should Melissa Reeves return’

what for ? we’ve already seen clearly how Cady McClain enlivens Jenny Bear. Jack is sexual, for one

it’s amazing to watch Jennifer Horton LIVE ? no ?

@Ron C. and whomever Executive Produces’ watching Melissa Reeves waste air time is the stench of dead

if Kristian Alfonso was FIRED’ @YOU YOU YOU @Ron @Ryan @ TPTB you truly see life in Melissa Reeves ? WOW you’ve spiraled and pegged yourself down some

Kristan Alfonso chose to leave. She was not fired.

It makes no sense. Everyone saying wonderful things about Cady in the role , and Missy still in Nashville. Just let Cady play the role. Can Sony afford her?

She was just great in the role and they should keep her.It was a very seamless transition and I like her more than Melissa Reeves as Jennifer,

They likely kept Cady until they could find a way to write Jennifer out for a while. Episodes were written and story arcs implemented that involved Jennifer.

When MR announced she wouldn’t return right away, Ron likely had to wait for a somewhat logical point to usher Jennifer off the canvas for a while.

GH did the same thing with Brook Lynn when Amanda Setton went on an extended maternity leave. Brook Lynn was critical to ongoing story for a few months. Briana Lane did a great job filling in, but departed when the writers were able to send Brook Lynn out of town for a period.

Guess they are sending Jennifer to Boston to handle her mother’s affairs. I think that’s where Laura was from.

Yes I don’t think she does the role justice

I’ll miss Cady playing Jeniffer. Good luck to her in the future.

I loved Melissa in the role but she was so surrounded by controversy outside the role that it made it hard to watch.

Cady has done a wonderful job in the role and made it her own. I wouldn’t mind if she stayed.

Sad to see them both go.

Cady McClain has been an absolute joy! An actress of her superior talents has greatly enhanced DOOL for months. Pity that she is leaving…

Not at all upset that Cady is leaving, she was okay, love to see new actor take the role!

DON’T CARE FOR HER. BRING BACK MELISSA

Melissa Reeves is poison. Cady was doing a wonderful job and should return.

Cady was boring and did nothing for the role. She had zero personality. Typical political crap, spreading inaccurate information about people who don’t share the same opinion as you, suddenly they are poison. What a joke.

AMEN Laurie63

Hoping this is a short-term exit and that she is back in the role ASAP! Also hoping NBC releases her portrait for the fifty-fifth anniversary, as well as others!

Political matters or other factors should not play into the fact Melissa Reeves will always be Jennifer Horton, I tried so hard for Cady to engage me, unfortunately, she didn’t.

So totally agree, Cady might be a fine actress but her portrayal of Jennifer was totally lack luster and boring, there was zero chemistry w/ Jack or anyone else. The political stuff gets blown out of proportion and generally not portrayed based on fact, typically if it’s a conservative view point it gets slanted to the negative, instead of finding out the facts people just turn against you. It has no place here, Melissa is the one and only Jennifer and should be the one playing the part.

I couldn’t agree more! They fail to realize not all of their audiences are liberals!! Keep politics out of daytime dramas!

Totally agree Tatiana!

Cady’s portrayal of Jen was the first time I was interested in the character in YEARS.

Nice nod to AMC with the pancakes.

I gave up on this show a couple years ago. I always meant to tun in to see Cady as Jennifer, but I missed her.
After all the “real life” crap written about Melissa, I thought it was a good move to replace her, and I thought Cady was a good choice. Sounds like others liked Cady in the role too!

I really loved Cady on GH as Nina and really would welcome her return , especially with latest SL.

I hope Cady McClain not Missy Reeves return to Days of our lives as Jennifer either May June or either this Summer 2021

I have watched DOOL for years Cady had big shoes to fill and I think she did an amazing job. I really enjoyed her. I wish her good luck.

What is wrong with all of you people? I am very happy to see her go and I am praying that Melissa Reeves comes back! I think you all are just saying that yoy like Cady because you don’t like melissa’s political views. Grow up people! And admit that Melissa is the much better actress!! Cady and Matthew Ashford have zero chemistry! UGH!!

“What’s wrong??” You know, people can have differing opinions. They may be very happy to have McClain, hope that Reeves never comes back, vice-versa or anything in between. What you “think” motivates people is pointless, since you don’t know them. And that rich part about “admit that Melissa is the much better actress” – as if it’s impossible others could have a different opinion than yours? Pretty extreme ideas on your part.

The love was felt around the world during the Sunday, June 7 livestream conversation featuring enduring Santa Barbara Daytime Emmy winners, A Martinez and Marcy Walker who played Cruz Castillo and Eden Capwell on the iconic NBC soap opera. The popular duo reunited for this special one-day only special event honoring their most memorable of daytime roles.

Santa Barbara was globally a hit, and nothing illustrated that more than having attendees from 20 countries and over four continents participate in and watch the live chat moderated by Melissa Braverman, the author of Santa Barbara: The Complete Story due out this fall.

While many were not able to purchase the initial livestream when the ticket costs were revealed to be $100,  A Martinez previously clarified the event was to also raise money for Walker, who is currently facing a very serious health situation, now there is a way to catch the replay at half the price.

HOW YOU CAN STILL CATCH A AND MARCY’S LIVESTREAM

Michael Fairman TV can share exclusively that if you missed the chance to see and listen to what A and Marcy had to say, On demand access is available at the event link for a half price at $50 (guests can contribute up to $100 if they so chose). Like the livestream, 100% of On demand sales for the recording will be available for a limited time only, and also go toward Marcy’s medical expenses.

There was plenty of laughter, tears, and reminiscing through the the two and a half hour chat which included: some memorable footage and images from the love story of Cruz and Eden. At one point, Marcy reflected on the enduring impact and affection for Cruz and Eden. “You hope that whatever you do in this life, that you’ll make an impact of some kind,” expressed Walker. “It doesn’t have to necessarily be wrapped up in success or career or anything like that, but I think we all want desperately to feel like our time here blessed someone. To hear that somebody’s life was even a moment better because of what we did is a massive gift.

A AND MARCY’S DESIRE TO WORK TOGETHER AGAIN

In a moment that brought joy to those in attendance, A and Marcy both expressed a sincere hope and desire that one day they can work together again. Martinez explained, “There’s more avenues to pursue now than there have ever been. I would say just keep a good thought for it. I’ve been holding it for decades, and I fully intend to do whatever I can to make it happen. We’re engaged in trying to make it happen. And you know, we’ll see. I know we both want to do it.” Marcy simply nodded and responded “Amen.”

Melissa Braverman shared with Michael Fairman TV, her sentiments on hosting the Santa Barbara favorites. “Seeing A and Marcy together again, even virtually, was an absolute gift. It instantly reminded all of us why we fell so hard for Cruz and Eden in the first place. Their undeniable chemistry leaped off the screen and straight back into our hearts, proving that the magic they created all those years ago hasn’t faded one bit. Sharing in equal parts laughter and tears felt like catching up with old friends. It just meant the world to see them side-by-side again and to see how this incredible fandom showed up for Marcy during such an important time for her.”

So, if you attended the livestream chat with A Martinez and Marcy Walker, what did you enjoy hearing about the most? Now the tickets have dropped to watch the replay On Demand, would you want to check it out? Let us know via the comment section below.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Officially Confirms Ryan Quan Returning as Co-Head Writer Beginning in July

Published

There is definitely a shake-up going down at the writing team at Peacock’s Days of Our Lives. Now, the long-running soap opera has confirmed, what has been previously reported, that current General Hospital breakdown writer, Ryan Quan is heading back to his old stomping grounds in Salem. This time as the series co-head writer.

The appointment of Quan comes with the official news that current co-head writer, Paula Cwikly, who was previously rumored to be departing the series, is not. She is staying with the soap opera and transitioning to a consultant role with the show. Now, Quan will join current co-head writer, Jeanne Marie Ford to steer the ship for the characters on the canvas.

On Wednesday, TV Insider, reported the official confirmation and that Quan will return to DAYS next month in July. In a statement to the outlet, executive producer, Ken Corday expressed, ‘We are lucky to have Ryan back in the fold. There are very few people who have such a deep knowledge and understanding of our show’s history. Stay tuned!”

THE FUTURE OF DAYS OF OUR LIVES

Since Days of our Lives unusual production schedule tapes ten-months ahead of air, the new creative team’s vision led by Quan and Jeanne Marie Ford are not expected to stream on Peacock until mid-2027.

Days of Our Lives is currently renewed through its 63rd season. The former NBC soap opera which transitioned to Peacock in September of 2022, celebrate its 60th anniversary in November of 2025.

The writing regime change comes after NBCUniversal Media Chairman Matt Strauss revealed that Peacock is expected to turn a profit for the first time in the current quarter, punctuating their investment with the enduring soap opera on its platform.

As for Quan, his knowledge of Salem is tremendous. Ryan joined Days of Our Lives as a writer’s assistant in 2007 after some time over at Passions. He then spent two decades and held every position on the writing team where he previously served as co-head writer from 2016-17 alongside Dena Higley.

Later, when Ron Carlivati took over as head writer for 7 years in 2017, Quan became his right-hand man and main story consultant for his deep knowledge of the history and the legacy of the show. After Carlivati exited the show in 2024, General Hospital hired Quan in 2025.

So, what do you think about DAYS making it official with Ryan Quan as the new co-head writer of the series alongside Jeanne Marie Ford. What do you think about the fact we won’t see the changes on-screen till 2027? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

ABC Announces ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Texas Spin-Off Gets Straight-to-Series Order

Published

By

In a surprise move, coming a week after ABC unveiled its 2026-2027 fall television schedule, Grey’s Anatomy is getting a new spinoff co-created by the original series’ creator/executive producer Shonda Rhimes.

The new untitled medical drama will be written and executive produced by Rhimes and Grey’s Anatomy showrunner/executive producer Meg Marinis under the Shondaland and 20th Television umbrella. In addition, long-running ‘Grey’s’ star Ellen Pompeo will also serve as an EP of the spinoff.

The upcoming new series will debut midseason in 2027. This will be the first of Grey’s franchise not set in urban city or West Coast locale. According to Deadline, the new “edgy drama is about a team at a rural West Texas medical center — the last chance for care before miles of nowhere.”

Photo: ABC

In a statement, Marinis shared, “I am incredibly excited to expand the Grey’s Anatomy universe. This opportunity will bring new characters and stories to life that will embody the same heart, emotion and connection audiences have loved from Grey’s for more than two decades — all set in my home state of Texas. I am so grateful to Shonda Rhimes for creating this dynamic world and feel so fortunate that I get to be a part of it.”

A NEW GROUP OF DOCTORS IN RURAL TEXAS

The Texas spinoff will feature a a new group of doctors, but there will be some connection to the OG Grey’s Anatomy and possibly to Debbie Allen’s character of Catherine Fox. The amount of episodes in the series order has not yet been determined. Previous Grey’s Anatomy spinoffs were the defunct Station 19 and Private Practice.

Previously, Grey’s Anatomy was renewed for its upcoming 23rd season while the amount of episodes is unclear.  The last two seasons the series produced 18 episodes.

It should also be noted, Grey’s Anatomy and the Texas spinoff would likely share a time period, which requires limited-run orders for both with Grey’s premiering in the fall, followed by the spinoff on the midseason programming block.

So, what do you think about a Texas spinoff of Grey’s Anatomy coming in 2027? Who would you like to see from daytime or primetime as some of the featured roles as new doctors? Put on your casting directors hat and let us know via the comment section below.
