Chad Brannon Returns to General Hospital
Look who’s coming back to GH! Daytime Emmy winner, Chad Brannon is on his way back to Port Charles!
Brannon, who previously played Zander Smith from 2000-2004 ,will be back on-air in March.
According to EW, Chad reports to work this week on February 12th on the ABC daytime drama series.
In story, Zander was shot and killed back in 2004, so the question becomes is Zander now going to be alive? Is Brannon playing a different role? Is he involved somehow with Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober)?
GH fans will remember that Zander was a troubled drug dealer and is the biological father of Cameron Webber (William Lipton).
Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) hooked up with Zander twice and got pregnant when she was on the outs with Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) and he was having trouble in his relationship with Emily (Natalia Livingston).

Back in 2009, Chad took home the Daytime Emmy in the Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series category.
This will be Brannon’s third time on GH. He last appeared as a character named Aaron on 2009 in a cameo.
So, if Zander is alive, will he cause problems for Franco (Roger Howarth) – who is suffering from an inoperable brain tumor – and who Cameron now thinks of as his dad?
What do you think about Chad Brannon coming home to GH? Comment below.
I can say for a fact that Zander has not escaped from Hell. But that doesn’t mean his son (who obviously never met him) can’t have some sort of vision of his daddy.
Well, I’m looking forward to it. It might give Elizabeth something to do besides defending Franco to that town full of hypocrites. Plus, we can always use talented actors from the past to bridge old and new stories. Besides, he’s incredibly handsome. Just saying. Now, if they’d bring Billy Miller back, I’d REALLY celebrate!
Maybe he will be the new Drew?
That would make no sense. Remember Drew is supposed to be Jason’s twin brother. Billy Miller was at least slightly plausible as “twin who no longer looks like a twin because they had to rebuild his face”. Chad doesn’t look like either of them.
If they really wanted an odd twist of a recast, they could bring him in as the new Lucky Spencer. At least that way, he would still be Cam’s dad. Actually the only dad he ever knew (no, I will not count Frodd!)
Don’t see that happening though…. not really a point in bringing Lucky back unless Jonathan Jackson is available, because the role’s always going to be his any time he wants it. Anybody else taking that job might as well consider themselves a “temp hire”.
I don’t know who Zander is ( started watching in 2014), but I can see Drew returning—imagine Jason, Drew and Sam —a triangle? What to do? What about a quadrangle? Dante?
Celia, dear, you know I adore your posts, and you, but I will NOT sanction our Billy being bogged down with Miss Sam again. Did you hear her ” declaration of independence” to Dante after the funeral? “My name is Sam” or “I Am Sam” or something equally ludicrous. To Dante! Who she’s already making eyes at! Though how she can even FIND HIM under all that ridiculously unkempt hair and ugly beard leftover from “The Revenant”. No, our Drew/Billy needs someone better, though there isn’t much to choose from right now.
LOL, Soaphound—-Sam I Am—Green Eggs And Ham–Dr. Seuss?? Ha!!
Dante—-poor guy—looks like a tiny Neanderthal.
I saw the googly eye-overtures—and the exaggeratedly puckered, botox-paralized lips.
Trust me, my friend, was I trying to intimate that Drew return just to be paired with Sam again.
I distinctly remember the detailed discussions Shay and I would have about not knowing the difference between him and Jason in bed—-ya know what I mean??!!
As far as I’m concerned, Billy Miller brought light and brightness to both Y&R and GH. And, albeit he played a baddie on AMC, I still saw sunshine in his smile.
In contrast, Sam’s character gives off gloom and doom—-perfect match for Jason. Did this couple ever have any fun??
I just thought that it would be something to see, if the writers’ imagination could run wild, and create a complex love triangle and then some—not your run-of-the-mill, tame, ordinary plot—-this time, I would love to see both Drew and Jason shun “Queenie”.
Thanks, Celia, for the lovely words about our Billy. During the initial stages of the pandemic, Y&R replayed the episode when Billy and Chloe wed, must have been 2009. I freeze-framed one scene just marveling about how beautiful he is, not just handsome, but with that special light you mentioned. What a treat that was during that time. A year later, and we STILL desperately need him back…in any capacity.
I second that,he is Drew.
No more return-from-the-deads! Stop that revolving door to the afterlife…or at least slow it down. I like the actor though.
My guess is he will be back as a look-alike brother/cousin/something.
I liked the Xander character before they turned him into a dealer, and he’s a good actor, so I’m good with him coming back in some form.
And I’d love for “Xander’s brother/twin” to give Franco a run for his money!
I’ve never been a Liz/Franco fan.
I always thought the show missed an opportunity to tie Zander to the Zacchara clan, given the resemblance between Chad Brannon and Brandon Barash. Regardless if he’s playing Zander or not, I’m thrilled to have Brannon back! Hopefully it’s not just for a short stint and he’s around for a long time.
Next on the list: Natalia Livingston!
^^^^ W O W !!!! SMOULDERING SIMMERING look but don’t catch
argh!!!! from my telee to yours YIKES
WOW!
Let poor Elizabeth be happy no matter who he comes back & remember her poor kids go through it all with her.
Holy Moly! Zander has aged well!
LOL i’m so glad we were invited to the dance
treats no less
They really need to stop bringing back dead people. It’s so unbelievable. I like Chad bring him back as a new character.
Zander’s appearance is likely just a temporary ghost or dream sequence.
AHAA! didja ever notice that GH women/’Charaters’
are sluty? ahaa they bred with many-
all their children have 3 different fathers etc..
bwahaa crazy..
Imagine if real-life people, their families were made of a mix of fathers.
Soaps thrive on women too stupid to use birth control even tho they are head of corporations etc and still too stupid
to use birth control ahaa.
Which GH mother has her children, all, by the same man?
I dunno-
LOL, SusieQ—-Yup, a different father for each child, Most soap characters keep it in the family. Sleeping with brothers or sisters-in-law—-mothers and fathers-in-law. Share and share alike.
These offspring could possibly be in-bred.
I agree with you—I’m not liking how stupidly women are portrayed. For the love of pizza, it’s the 21st Century, —they should (supposedly) know better—-especially anyone in the medical field.
Praying that TPTB will make this interesting, but…
NOT holding my breath!
Recast Lucky?

ABC Announces ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Texas Spin-Off Gets Straight-to-Series Order
In a surprise move, coming a week after ABC unveiled its 2026-2027 fall television schedule, Grey’s Anatomy is getting a new spinoff co-created by the original series’ creator/executive producer Shonda Rhimes.
The new untitled medical drama will be written and executive produced by Rhimes and Grey’s Anatomy showrunner/executive producer Meg Marinis under the Shondaland and 20th Television umbrella. In addition, long-running ‘Grey’s’ star Ellen Pompeo will also serve as an EP of the spinoff.
The upcoming new series will debut midseason in 2027. This will be the first of Grey’s franchise not set in urban city or West Coast locale. According to Deadline, the new “edgy drama is about a team at a rural West Texas medical center — the last chance for care before miles of nowhere.”

Photo: ABC
In a statement, Marinis shared, “I am incredibly excited to expand the Grey’s Anatomy universe. This opportunity will bring new characters and stories to life that will embody the same heart, emotion and connection audiences have loved from Grey’s for more than two decades — all set in my home state of Texas. I am so grateful to Shonda Rhimes for creating this dynamic world and feel so fortunate that I get to be a part of it.”
A NEW GROUP OF DOCTORS IN RURAL TEXAS
The Texas spinoff will feature a a new group of doctors, but there will be some connection to the OG Grey’s Anatomy and possibly to Debbie Allen’s character of Catherine Fox. The amount of episodes in the series order has not yet been determined. Previous Grey’s Anatomy spinoffs were the defunct Station 19 and Private Practice.
Previously, Grey’s Anatomy was renewed for its upcoming 23rd season while the amount of episodes is unclear. The last two seasons the series produced 18 episodes.
It should also be noted, Grey’s Anatomy and the Texas spinoff would likely share a time period, which requires limited-run orders for both with Grey’s premiering in the fall, followed by the spinoff on the midseason programming block.
So, what do you think about a Texas spinoff of Grey’s Anatomy coming in 2027? Who would you like to see from daytime or primetime as some of the featured roles as new doctors? Put on your casting directors hat and let us know via the comment section below.
