"Castle's" One Life to Lose episode – Preview Photo Gallery!

Courtesy/ABC

In a very special homage to Nathan Fillion’s beginnings as Joey Buchanan on One Life to Live, his hit primetime series Castle has written and produced a very soapalicious episode.  As we previously announced at On-Air On-Soaps the episode title is One Life to Lose!

The set up is that Castle and Beckett will deal with a murder that was committed on the set of fictional soap opera Temptation Lane.  Apparently, the head scribe has been murdered! During their investigation, Castle and Beckett discover that behind the scenes of a soap is just as wild and wholly as the faux soap itself.  The stellar cast list includes: Former Y&R and GH star, Corbin Bernsen, All My Children’s Rebecca Budig and Cameron Mathison, and Jane Seymour, known best for her work in Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman.

Here is a bit more of what we do know: Bernsen plays Lance Buchanan, a rugged self-assured veteran actor on Temptation Lane. Budig is Mandy Branson the gorgeous young diva lead actress and Mathison plays Vince Bowers, director of “TL”.  And, Jane Seymour is the mother of the murder victim.

Castle’s One Life to Lose soap spectacular will air Monday night March 21st at 10PM on ABC.  Now you can view the preview photo gallery from the episode below. Remember, to see more pics in the slideshow hit the NEXT GROUP button to the right of the + symbol, or just let the slideshow play itself.

I’m really excited for the soap-themed episode of Castle, but I think they should have included at least one OLTL star in the episode.

The episode is called One Life to Lose. Nathan Fillion was on One Life to Live. Yet, not a single actor from One Life to Live is featured on this Castle episode. Did Brian Frons cast this episode???????

What a wasted opportunity. Robin strasser should have been the jane seymore role. And why not give erika slezak a role. Its het 40th anniversary. I dont want to tune. I cant stand ryan or greenky. Too overexposed and not enough talent.

When I heard about this special soap themed episode, I was so excited to see who would be on it. I thought for sure since Nathan was from OLTL, they would include OLTL actors on the episode. Well, then I heard who was going to be on it and I thought oh no, not one OLTL actor! To me, this is just wrong! Of all the actors on OLTL surely some should have been cast! I was very disappointed to see Cameron and Rebecca on this episode. Corbin Bernsen is fine. Yes, I ‘ll still watch this episode of Castle.… Read more »

I haven’t seen it, but I would be more inclined to if they put some of the great ATWT actors on.How about Van Hansis, Liz Hubbard, Larry Bryggman , Trent Dawson,Eileen Fulton, Don Hastings….these are actors who really know how to act!

I’m so glad that Rebecca Budig is in this episode of Castle because I have always thought that she should be seen on primetime shows more often. She’s way too good to be stuck on daytime only. As for Cameron, I like him and don’t mind that he’s on the episode. In fact, I don’t care one way or the other that they didn’t use any actors form OLTL. I’m just excited to see what looks to be quite a funny parody of soaps. And from the looks of the previews, this episode is going to be very entertaining. I,… Read more »

I was first excited when I heard about the plot but when I heard that Mathison and Budig were chosen to appear, I lost interest.

Carol Burnett On Her 90th Birthday Recalls Agnes Nixon Offering Her the Role of All My Children’s Verla Grubbs

Last night on her 90th birthday, comedy legend Carol Burnett was honored during the NBC TV special, Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love.  Today, April 27th,the extended cut is available to stream on Peacock.

In an interview on her career with Vulture, Burnett discussed how she eventually wound up playing the role of Verla Grubbs on her favorite soap opera, All My Children.Burnett, first played the role in 1983.

As many know, Carol was a professed longtime fan of Pine Valley, and over the years, many wondered if she asked for a role on the show and thus reached out to its legendary creator, Agnes Nixon.

Burnett revealed: “I didn’t have to. She volunteered. When I did questions and answers at the top of my show, I often talked about All My Children with the audience. I’d say, ‘Oh, I didn’t see it today. What happened?’ Because my lunch hour was built around watching All My Children. Agnes knew that, and she called and said, ‘Would you like it if I wrote a character for you?’ I said, ‘Absolutely!’ So on my hiatus, I flew back to New York and they had a whole story line for me. I was on it for two weeks, and I got to know Susan Lucci. Oh, and Susan is on the 90th! She flew out and I was thrilled. But soap operas are the hardest work, because, oh my God, you get 19 pages at night, you have to study the lines, and then you go do it in the morning. I really admire soap-opera actors, how they pull it off.”

The character of Verla Grubbs (the daughter of Langley Wallingford) appeared on AMC several times in 1983, 1995, 2005 and 2011.

Check out Burnett as Verla below.

Now let us know if you admire Carol’s appreciation of the art form of the soaps, and if you loved her during her time on All My Children in the comment section below.
