As the 2024-2025 television wraps up this May, CBS is once again in the driver’s seat in daytime. The network is touting that is has now been #1 with its daytime programming lineup for 39 seasons and 1500 consecutive weeks, making it the longest daytime winning streak for any network since ratings reporting data began.

That makes CBS daytime #1 for 39 seasons since the 1986-87 season. The streak started back on October 3, 1988 and the only time it is was interrupted was one week in 1996 during the Summer Olympics which were held in Atlanta and broadcast by rival NBC. Since then CBS had retained the top spot for 28 years and eight months.

CBS Daytime’s ratings are topped by the #1 The Price is Right, #2 The Young and the Restless and #3 The Bold and the Beautiful. For 13 consecutive seasons (since 2012-13), these shows have ranked as the top daytime programs for 571 of 615 weeks. The shows average in total 2.76m viewers (Most Current, Season-to-Date).

Breaking down the ratings performance of each of the five shows currently in the CBS Daytime lineup, The Price is Right has been the #1 daytime programming 691 of the last 701 consecutive weeks and this season averages 3.95m viewers (Most Current, Season-to-Date).

The Young and the Restless has been the #1 daytime soap for more than 36 years and 1,878 consecutive weeks and this season averages 3.29m viewers (Most Current, Season-to-Date).  It’s sister soap, The Bold and the Beautiful,  this season averages 2.79m viewers (Most Current, Season-to-Date). Let’s Make a Deal this season averages 2.21m viewers (Most Current, Season-to-Date).

Meanwhile, the newcomer to the lineup, Beyond the Gates, which was just renewed on Monday, is up +48%in broadcast viewership from last year’s time period and this season averages 1.82m viewers (Most Current, Season-to-Date).

In other ratings news, streaming viewership of every CBS soap is up year-over-year and streaming gains result in double digit lifts over the broadcast-only audience.

Note : All milestones include ties. CBS Network Wins are L+SD and LIVE Pre-DVR before 12/26/2005, exclude breakouts, sustainers, specials, amended titles, and News Programming except for GMA3 variations.  Milestones do not include the week of 1/27/20 as most daytime shows were preempted for the Trump Impeachment Hearings and the week of 10/29/12 due to all programming being broken out due to Hurricane Sandy coverage.

So, what do you think about the CBS ratings performance for their daytime line-up? Which of the five shows from Y&R, B&B, BTG, Price is Right and LMAD do you watch religiously? Comment below.

MIKE MANNING’S UPCOMING PROJECTS

While Manning has his series regular role on Beyond the Gates he is also involved in a myriad of other projects including: his role opposite Nicolas Cage in the film, Madden and the upcoming Anthony Hopkins starring motion picture, Eyes in the Tree, which Manning is featured and also produced.
