Days Of Our Lives
Should DAYS Bring McKenzie Westmore On as a Love Interest for Galen Gering, Thus Reuniting Sheridan and Luis From ‘Passions’?
While promoting her new Hallmark Channel movie, Love in the Clouds, which premieres this week on May 10th at 8/7c, McKenzie Westmore reminisced on her time on the NBC soap opera, Passions as leading lady Sheridan Crane.
Westmore played Crane from 1999-2008 and in story was madly in love with Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald, played by current Days of our Lives long-running leading man, Galen Gering (Rafe Hernandez). When Passions was canceled by NBC in 2007, it was then shortly resurrected on DirecTV’s The 101 Network from 2007 to 2008, before its final demise.
Speaking with Swoon on her recent projects including: her skincare line Westmore Beauty which was used on the actors in Love in the Clouds, McKenzie mentions one regret from her time on Passions, and that is not getting a chance following the demise of the show, to work again with Galen Gering.

McKenzie expressed. “Because Passions didn’t end well for the fans, I would love to see Luis and Sheridan come back in some sort of way, so we have a little Shuis connection.”
Would Shuis fans want to see DAYS Rafe, who’s relationship with Jada (Elia Cantu) recently went bust, find a romance with a new character played by Westmore, if she could come to Salem? Interestingly, before Passions, McKenzie was on Days of our Lives as an under-five named Mindy back in October of 1998.
Returning to DAYS, now with a more substantive role might be an a fun twist for Shuis fans. Westmore would like a crack at it, stating, “Obviously, it’s different characters, but I would love to give back to the fans and have a Sheridan-Luis reunion. Let’s make it happen, Passions fans!”
So, did you love Sheridan and Luis on Passions? Would you like to see McKenzie Westmore re-team with Galen Gering on Days of our Lives or in some other project? Share your thoughts in the comment section. But first, check out how Luis and Sheridan first met each other on Passions in the video below.
It’d have to be a pass for me.
He’ll yes please bring her on!!!!! She’s the best
Passions didn’t air down here in Hell, so I have no idea of McKenzie’s acting style. Just going by her looks alone, I could see her as a possible Nicole Walker recast, since I doubt there’s a snowball’s chance in my back yard that Arianne Zucker would ever return, after all the lawsuits.
I was going to say the same thing about a Nicole Walker recast. I’m getting Nicole vibes from her. Though no one will ever be able to replace Ari Zucker, but she will never return to DAYS now. Wish she would check into GH!
Oh yes, totally could see that
Yes! Galen and McKenzie have the best chemistry together. After how Shuis fans were screwed over at the end of Passions, we absolutely ✨need✨ justice. Seeing Galen and McKenzie together again would be another lifetime. Shuis finally end up together and everything is put back the way it was supposed to be.
Let’s make it happen, Days! Give us our Shuis reunion! You won’t be sorry once you see the sizzling chemistry between Galen and McKenzie!
i would love for them to reunite they had chemistry together when they were on passions it would be fantastic to see them together again
It would be an actual dream come true to have McKenzie join the cast as Galen’s love interest! They have LITERALLY THE BEST CHEMISTRY it is PALPABLE and soooo believable!!! We got screwed out of a Shuis happy ending on Passions — this would make up for it a little bit! And definitely elevate Days!! Cast her!!!
I think it would be great! Jada and Rafe were a snooze for me. Unfortunately, due to their lead-time at DOOl, even if they filmed scenes starting tomorrow, it would be almost a year before we saw them together…..
I was a huge Luis and Sheridan fan and I never missed an episode of Passions while it was on NBC. But can lightening strike twice? I remember how disappointing the reunion of Eric and Lindsay was as Brady & Ariana, but I put most of the blame on the piss poor writing at that time. I do think McKenzie would make a good Nicole and the new writers might do better with her and Rafe.
I miss Passions.
Yes!! That would be awesome!
My feelings after 50 years watching… ok for Rafe….He and Jada were not doing it….But, Ariana and Eric forever….. replacing her is ridiculous and a bad decision. As is replacing John… a rumor that would kill the show that’s going shortly anyway. Sad!
What often happens is that lightning doesn’t strike twice! George Reinholt and Jacqueline Courtney were immensely popular on Another World, not so much when they starred together on OLTL. Same thing happened when Mary Beth Evans and Stephen Nichols left DOOL and were reunited on General Hospital. I suspect a lot of it has to do with the writing, i.e., the creation of new characters.
In the current state of DOOL, the triangle of Rafe, Jada, and Shawn shows some promise, as Rafe and Jada need something other than a boring doppelganger to make things exciting.
Excellent points (as usual) James.
We were an ABC soap house, and I remember my mother couldn’t figure all the fuss about the character of Pat Ashley. As for Tony, I’m not sure Viki ever mentioned him again.
Mary Beth Evans just didn’t fit on GH. She seemed to be forced on the scene. A lot of viewers were glad when that second parapet fall finally did the trick.
Another failed GH/DAYS mismatch was Kirsten Storms and Jason Cook – all the rage in Salem but no spark in PC.
OG Steve, thanks for your reply and kind words! I also appreciate you giving stronger context to my anecdotes. I suspect your memory is much better than mine. And I forgot about the Storms/Cook reteaming. I was also from an ABC soap home but sometimes sampled other soaps.
I don’t check in (or chime in) here as often. I always enjoy reading your comments. Glad to see you’re still sharing your thoughtful, respectful insights. Take care, Friend!

‘Days of Our Lives’ Christopher Sean Opens Up About His Daytime Emmy Nomination to Honor His Late TV Father, Drake Hogestyn (Exclusive)

There was not a dry eye in the house when in June of 2025, Paul Narita (Christopher Sean) gets up to eulogize his father, John Black (Drake Hogestyn), after the iconic character passed away and his funeral brought Salem together for one last goodbye.
In real life, Drake Hogestyn had passed away of pancreatic cancer at the age of 70 back on September 28, 2024. When DAYS taped the funeral episode, Drake was still alive and had given his blessing to the series longtime executive producer, Ken Corday, that it was OK with him to kill off his character and to have a memorial. Sadly, shortly after the cast filmed the scenes, Drake died leaving a lasting legacy on DAYS that will never be matched.
Earlier this week on Tuesday, Christopher Sean received the bittersweet news that he had received a Daytime Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Guest Performer category for the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards for his performances. Christopher appeared shortly after the news of his nomination on the Michael Fairman Channel’s Daytime Emmy Nominations Special 2026 were he shared his emotional reaction. Here’s part of what he expressed below.

WHAT DID CHRISTOPHER SEAN SUBMIT?
“I submitted Paul’s lowest moments in his life, and Paul’s highest moments, meaning the eulogy with John Black, his father, and for my hero, Drake Hogestyn, and Paul getting married to Andrew (Colton Little). So it was two very opposite ends of his life. But what a great culmination of 12 years of being on Days of Our Lives it was.”
ALWAYS BEING GRATEFUL TO DRAKE HOGESTYN
“Even talking about it now, I have so much love for Drake. I’ve got him here on my wall and wake up every day and I try to make him proud. It’s hard to talk about it, but I feel that my life is on the path that I am because of him, because of him being my role model, because of him loving and guiding me, because of everything that he is taught me on and off the set.”

THE EARLY STRUGGLES WITH PAUL’S EULOGY AND HEARTFELT ADDITIONS TO THE DIALOG
“I had been texting back and forth with Drake and I was actually pretty angry, because I felt that we shouldn’t exploit this, but Drake was so attached to the fan base that when Ken Corday spoke with him and gave him the permission to allow the fans to grieve with us, that’s when I said, ‘OK, if that’s what he wants, then I’m going to go full throttle with it.’ In Paul’s eulogy and monologue I’d read it and without asking the writers, I added a few lines and they allowed me to keep them.”
Christopher continued, “One of the lines was, ‘anytime I see a rainbow in the sky’ and I said, ‘and a baseball up high, or a rainbow in the sky,’ because I wanted to attribute it to baseball and to Drake. It was already perfect the way it was written, but that was my nod to Drake. We all loved him and there’s not a person I know who didn’t love him. Drake lit up any room he was a part of. I would not be here, again, without Drake.”
You can catch Christopher’s conversation on the Daytime Emmy Nominations Special at the 2:14:25 mark below.
The 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be handed in a ceremony on October 30 from the Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood California. Current plans are for the event to stream live on the National Academy Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), watch.theemmys.tv and associated apps.
So, will you be rooting for Christopher to take home the gold for his heartbreaking performance of Paul’s grief over losing John and then marrying Andrew? Were you touched by how much Drake Hogestyn had meant to his life and career? Let us know via the comment section below.
