Chappell and Smith Twitter away about "Venice"!

crystalchappel.jpgIn tweets posted yesterday, “GL’s” Crystal Chappell and her former “OLTL” cast mate Hillary B. Smith (Nora) banter about Hillary’s upcoming role of Guya in “Venice: The Series”. Here’s what Chappell’s followers on Twitter learned:

“You”ll find Guya sharing knowledge of life experience to folks in Venice.  You’ll also see Hillary’s amazing comedic chops.  Guya was born with silver spoon in mouth then spoon went to the nose and then she married for love, traded in for younger model and has found most men obsolete, but fascinating. She’s changed her name from Jane to Guya and now offers love and crystals in Venice Beach.  She’s there to guide.  Guya is Ginas Aunt.  She’ll cut thru the bullshit.”

Make sure to follow more “Venice” updates on Chappell’s twitter page as they become available!

‘Soap Opera Know-It-All’ Virtual Game Show Debuts

This week, the Michael Fairman Channel dropped the premiere episode of the first-ever virtual soap opera game show, Soap Opera Know-It-All.

The game features four soap fans from around the country who test their knowledge against each other for prizes and the bragging rights to be the “Ultimate Know-It-All” come seasons end.

With the coronavirus pandemic still among us and life not fully back to normal, the game show is produced and hosted by Michael Fairman that brought fans from different parts of the country together for the kick-off.  They are: Marni Ockene, Floyd Elwell, Nicholas Hess and Gina Patterson.

The game is played in two rounds, and the players receive points for each correct answer as they choose questions from 2 game board categories which are all soap operas; either primetime or daytime in a ‘Jeopardy’-like format.

However, come the knock-out round we are left with two players who try to answer the final question from this week’s guest performer, The Young and the Restless‘, Sharon Case (Sharon).  If no one is eliminated, the game goes into “Sudden Death”.

On each new episode, different soap operas will be featured on the game board and/or in different amalgamations, plus you never know just which of your favorite soap stars might pop up!

All My Children and Guiding Light Vet, Gil Rogers Passes Away

Gil Rogers, who played one of the all-time most dastardly villains in soaps on All My Children and was the on-screen father to the one and only Reva Shayne (Kim Zimmer) on Guiding Light, has died at age 87.

News came via his daughter, Amanda Rogers on her Facebook page, relating that Gil passed away on March 2nd.

The actor had played Tad (Michael E. Knight) and Jenny’s (Kim Delaney) father, Ray Gardner on All My Children from 1977-1978 making multiple appearance though 2001, then later as Hawk Shayne on Guiding Light from 1985-1992 making multiple appearance through 2009.

Gil also appeared on Another World, Search for Tomorrow and The Doctors.

In her post, Amanda wrote: “Gil Rogers died this morning. As you all know, my dad was awesome. He was my best friend, confidant, mentor and just an awesome dad. He came to pick me and  Charlotte Whitaker Zdanowski up at clubs at 2AM in our teens to keep us safe, and drank bourbon with me every day since moving out here 2 years ago. He was welcoming and kind, funny and gregarious, a shameless flirt and a fierce protector. He loved his dinners with grandkids and endured animated movies and discussions about pokemon. And I miss him so terribly already. He died in his sleep, without pain or fear. I am so grateful to have had such a great father and to have spent these past 2 years with him every day.”

Check out this vintage scene below from All My Children where Ray played by Rogers blows up the Martin house.

Now share your remembrances of Gil’s performances and along with condolences for his family in the comment section.
