Conner Floyd Exits ‘The Young and the Restless’ as Chance Takes a Bullet, and Shares, “It’s Been an Honor to Represent the Chancellor Legacy”
As predicted, the Monday, July 28th episode of The Young and the Restless, saw the demise of the character of Chance Chancellor ending the run of Conner Floyd in the role. However as previously reported, Conner is already taking all-new episodes of Days of our Lives in the role of Chad DiMera replacing Billy Flynn. In a twist of fate, since Flynn is now Cane Ashby on Y&R, Chance’s final moments were dying in the arms of Cane.
In story, Carter (Vincent Stalba) who had been holding Lily (Christel Khalil) at gunpoint, lets her loose. Chance is trying to nab the guy as Carter tells Cane he made this place everything he could have wanted, but it was all for nothing. When Carter decides to end Cane’s life, Chance rushes in and he and Carter fight over the gun and it goes off. Later, Carter takes his own life.
Conner Floyd has been playing Chance since 2021. The role was previously played by John Driscoll, Justin Gaston and Donny Boaz. Sadly, Y&R’s decision to kill-off Chance instead of recasting the part, marks the end of the era and one of the last ties to the legendary Chancellor family led by the iconic Jeanne Cooper (ex-Katherine). Chance was the biological son of Nina Webster (Tricia Cast) and Phillip Chancellor III (Thom Bierdz) and was the grandson of Jill Foster Abbott (Jess Walton).

In an Instagram post on Monday, Floyd shared, “It’s been real GC. What a ride. I have truly been blessed to call myself a citizen of Genoa City. To share the stage with so many talented and hard working actors, creatives and crew members. This is without a doubt a special place. I’m grateful to have been a part of such an iconic piece of art that has lasted through the decades and that has such a stellar, die hard fan base. Thank you for accepting me. Chance will always have a close place in my heart. He’s taught me a lot and I’ll miss him dearly. It’s been an absolute honor to represent the Chancellor legacy. Detective Chancellor, over and out.”

So. what do you think about Y&R’s decision to kill-off the character of Chance? Sad to see Conner Floyd wrap his run, but knowing he is now on Days of our Lives and will be seen in 2026 on the Peacock streaming soap opera? Share your thoughts in the comment section, and take a look below at Conner’s goodbye video as his time on Y&R has come to an end.

He was wasted as Chance; he could have done so much more in the role than Josh Griffith was capable of providing.
He was totally wasted as Chance. Hopefully, he’ll have a storyline on Days.
They treated the character and the actor very badly. Y&R has a shortage of young leading men. They didn’t give the romance with Summer a chance (no pun intended), they destroyed his relationship with Abby to place her with Devon and they have NO chemistry! He belonged to legacy families (Chancellors, Foster’ and Fenmore) and his mother was Nina. They aren’t doing much with Adam lately. Is he next to be written out? I truly hope DAYS truly utilizes this talented guy. Josh Griffith, the Paris storyline was a bust! Killing off Jermaine Rivers was also ridiculous! The guy had potential. Please don’t give us Nate and Victoria again. Another couple that didn’t. work. Y&R or maybe I should say Josh Griffith, doesn’t give the fans what they want = interesting characters, young love and not just Kyle and Claire, a vixen who can turn things upside down, like the character Phyllis used to be and not Audra! Give us a reason to tune in and not just out of habit!
Lewis, you said it all and so very well. Thank you. I thought Chance/Abby was a Y&R legacy couple in the making and remain seriously disappointed in how it played out. This was an important character that was neutralized, minimized, and wasted. And Connor Floyd is DOOL’s gain.
Reading the other comments, I am comforted in knowing my opinion is shared.
Sorry to see the actor and the character leave. It’s been obvious the writers didn’t know what to do with Chance and killed him off with no loved one near his side for comfort in his last breath.
What a crappy writer, simply crappy…Josh Griffith. Sorry. Once again he has proven (time and time again) that he should not be in charge of the Young and the Restless. Oh I know, but ratings improved during the July time frame, but for all the WRONG reasons. And if today was the climax, it failed. The Chancellor bloodline is now done, it’s over. And how in God’s name was Lily in the least bit sympathetic towards Cane at the end of today’s episode???? So I guess you didn’t kill Damian!?!?!?!?! You couldn’t have ONE character shed a real tear today over Chance’s death, not one??? Oh how did our cell phones turn back on? And how did Nikki NOT get a text or a voicemail from her daughter?? More holes than swiss cheese. Griffith should just resign!!!
I cant believe they are killing off Chance a legacy character this show is beyond stupid now a blank screen is preferable. The Nina Phillip Cricket triangle was the biggest story in the late 80s and brought the show to #1. Very disappointing.
So sad, to kill off an entire family in one shot. The audience is getting the message loud and clear, the past is the past and it ain’t never coming back
This current storyline with the cane introduction as much as I like Billy Flynn is a hot mess! I wish someone could tell me what is going on killing off Damian and chance ! This fool lacky Carter doing an Anthony Perkins imitation is a joke ! Nick accused of murder when he barely knows Damian! Only good thing is Nick and Sharon together otherwise fast forward
We better see appearances by Tricia Cast and Thom Bierdz in the very near future!
James…AMEN!!!!! I’m thinking the same thing. Oh…and now that Chance is gone, it makes PERFECT SENSE to bring Tricia Cast and Thom Bierdz back for guest appearances. But, if TPTB at Y&R decide not to bring TC and TB back, well then (to me) TIIC are dumber than I thought.
James…have a good one.
The hack just stopped 50 years of history, killing off a legacy character from the last of the original families. The character was the last link to the glory days of the show. Killed off for no story payoff at all, as I said the writer is a hack and the EP is incompetent, yeah I know they are one in the same.
What a joke! Nobody can mourn the poor guy, including his heartless uncle Billy. This show use to be filled with romance and youth and vibrant interesting characters. Now it’s about characters sitting at a coffee shop, athletic club or two ugly bars talking about business shenanigans. And characters only ever talk about Victor. Lauren, Michael, Kyle, Jack etcetc. At least Chance didn’t. Guess why the killed off the last legit Chancellor and months ago wiped away the Williams family by killing off Heather. This show is a bore.
Chance should not have been killed. I would have preferred Cane be shot. Chance is a legacy character.
There was no reason to kill off Chance nor have Carter die by suicide. A more fitting way to do it was have Carter get shot when they struggled for the gun, then Chance deciding after an another close call, that he wanted to be with Summer after all and he leaves GC to live in Italy with her.
However, if they really had to “kill” him at least write a better story in which to do it. I find this show has a real issue with pacing. Some things drag on and on and on, like the build up to who is Dumas. Then when it comes to “action” it all rushed– that if you blink you might missed it.
I can’t remember the last time there was a story arc on this show that after it ended I felt that storyline was worth the time I invested in watching it.
They will have the body flown to wherever Nina is and he will never be mentioned again . JG is a mess and as long as morons nominate this show and he wins a so called Emmy their will never have a writing change over there I only saw pictures of this so called set but I’ve seen more impressive sets at a elementary school play breaks my heart . But signed off of watching it and Bold a long time ago now o soaps so I guess have no right to complain just sad for the soap genre.
I yearn for the years of Douglas Marland who wrote the angst that I was experiencing while maturing – seems he and those like him were once in a lifetime with regards to the soap genre. I’ll continue to watch/DVR though. I fast forward through most of it for it’s on in the background, often on mute, while I’m working and will turn it on if something looks somewhat interesting. Growing up, I didn’t miss an episode and VHS recorded them every single day.
This storyline has SOOOO many gaps that make absolutely zero sense!!!
Once the cell phone access became available again, why did Lily not contact Mattie and Charlie IMMEDIATELY telling them about their FATHER??? and have them immediately go to GC and finally usher in the YOUNG of the Restless – that generation is completely off screen and should be front and center, especially with it being the SUMMER months, aka YOUNG LOVE
Sharon didn’t contact Faith or even Mariah or Noah.
And where is Reed??? His grandparents were held hostage in France and Victoria just lost her love, AND he has a new found thought-to-be dead sister in Claire.
So poorly executed, and the loss of too many feasible character developments.
Now we just get to go back to business transactions and corporate takeovers over drinks… (we have enough of that happening in real life right now)
They should call this soap The 50+ and Elders (while ruining/dissolving legacy historical families)
Well as long as 84 year old bully Braeden and 72 year old Bergman are front and center who cares ugh
It’s unfortunate that Baby John of Nikki and Jack did not survive back in the 90’s
Jack is a father to Kyle and Keemo (died) and Grandfather to Alli (in Europe) and Harrison in Italy
Ashley has Abby (with no plans to return according to the actress)
And Tracy had Colleen and no longer the love of Alan
The family tree for the Abbots is unfortunately rather small, though I do love Peter’s Jack and hope he remains on the show as long as is possible
Victor’s family tree is much more extensive and he is a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather – his wisdom should be guiding these younger generations – Love Eric, too!
Victoria has (now) Claire, Mariah (with daughter Aria), MIA Reed, and boarding school Johnny and Katie
Nicholas has Noah in Europe, Summer in Italy, Faith at college and Christian in GC but MIA
Abby has Dominic
Adam has Connor
They just killed off Chance, pretty much the last of Kay Chancellor’s family (Ronan anyone?)
The Winter’s Family has been evolving without Neil (RIP KSJ and a Moses return doesn’t make a lot of sense), and GC does need a third family but they just also killed off Damian after establishing him being Nate’s half-brother and the introduction of his mother, Amy who will survive her cancer, which makes zero sense, even if they want Lily and Cane to return to one another (calling Mattie and Charlie!)
The Baldwins have Fenn, and Chloe and Kevin have Bella and Miles
The Williams Family, the only true middle class family, is pretty much gone now that Heather was killed – where is Lucy this summer??? Daniel needs to do something more than strum a guitar in the park
I know I am missing probably some important people, but my general point is:
WHERE IS THE YOUNG??? It’s summertime and we should be enjoying new love blossoming and not watching middle-aged people wandering mindlessly around a maze trapped in the south of France with two deaths and a stabbing. I like a murder mystery, but there is no mystery – Carter killed Damien and then killed himself. The only mystery here is what is Amanda’s role? Is Mishael planning on sticking around once they all return to GC or is she heading back to her law practice (in DC it think?). If so, will she and Devon return to each other or are both of them heading to Atlanta to Beyond the Gates with announced cross-over for Devon?
And I agree with Lee – it DOES feel like they are trying to make Y&R as horrible as possible
Head scratching!
And sorry for the long post – it all just does not make sense to me if you want to have people invested in these fictional lives and actually watch the show, rather than fast-forwarding to get the “gist” of what is happening
It feels like they’re trying to make Y&R as horrible as possible.
They had to get rid of Chance and Nate is next. Maybe Amanda as well. Why? Because Devon is a despicable human being having done despicable things to people but he’s perched on the moral high ground and is never called out. Let’s review. He banged his adoptive father’s wife and Neil had to give her up so Devon could marry her. He formed a partnership with his father and whenever they disagreed he reminded the Dad that Devon had the money. His nana’s money but he had it. He testified against his sister and she went to jail. He treated his bio sis, the singer, terribly and she left town. When Abby and Chance needed a sperm donor he got the job. As soon as the baby was born he started squawking about having parental rights and he got them and basically squeezed Chance out of the kid’s life. He got so mad at Nate that he physically attacked him causing him to lose the ability to perform surgery. In a recent convo with Victoria she asked him how was it ‘changing’ careers like he chose to give up medicine. Even that is being whitewashed because no one wants to say Devon beat him. Then we get to Chance and Amanda walking in on Devon banging Abby on the stairs and once again he ends with the girl. He even moved into Chance’s family home. In France he called out Cane and Chance for being dishonest. But at least he calls Victor Mr. Newman. This guy is a POS.
So many of these comments are dead on. As a long time viewer of Y&R (summer of 73), I find it sad that a legacy character has been killed off. I wish the writing for Chance and many others characters was better
I dont understand why they killed off 3 people??? Carter, Damien and especially Chance, the last Chancellor? Why????

General Hospital
GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.
However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.
Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG
Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!
Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”
MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).
Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY
Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”
It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”
A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

Photo: PGibbons
IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”
He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”
Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.”
So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.
Guiding Light
‘Guiding Light’s’ Grant Aleksander Shares Heartfelt Remembrance of TV Daughter, Hayden Panettiere On What Would Have Been Her 37th Birthday

The tragic death of Hayden Panettiere last Sunday on August 21 continues to rock the entertainment world as her passing is still under investigation. Sadly, the former Guiding Light and Nashville star, died just days before her 37th birthday.
Now Grant Aleksander who played her on-screen father, Phillip Spaulding on Guiding Light a role he played on and off for nearly 30 years, shared a touching tribute with The Locher Room via Instagram, to his former TV daughter on her birthday on Friday, August 21.
It was back in 1996-2000 that Panettiere played the role of Phillip and Beth’s (Beth Chamberlin) daughter, Lizzie Spaulding. When Hayden was on-screen her performances were outstanding even as a little girl.

Photo: CBS
Aleksander began, When I think of Hayden the first image that comes is of her running down the hall in the studio with a huge, toothy grin on her face. Literally bursting with joy. And that’s what she gave to us. Pure, infectious joy. That and a talent that belied her years.”
“She was a natural with an instinctive understanding of acting that most adult actors can only dream of possessing. But that’s not what I’ll remember most about her. It’s that sunshine she brought to all of us that were lucky enough to be in her orbit that will stay with me, expressed Grant.
He concluded with, “I’ll always cherish the years I got to be her tv Dad. I wish I could have seen her one more time just to tell her how proud I was of her. She’s left us way too soon. We can only hope that she’s finally found the peace that eluded her in her short life. Rest in peace Princess!”
Michael Fairman TV previously shared emotional tributes from many of Hayden’s co-stars here, plus Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky, GH and ex-Avery, Nashville) who wrote a beautiful tribute to his former co-star.
So, do you remember the scenes between a young Lizzie and Phillip on Guiding Light? What did you think of Grant Aleksander’s words? Let us know via the comment section below. Here’s just a sampling below, of how great Hayden was with her scene partner, Grant.
