Corbin Bernsen Updates Y&R's Jeanne Cooper Health Condition: "It Remains The Same."

On-Air On-Soaps has been so impressed and touched by the outpouring of love and hundreds of comments over the last several days  in our last several posts updating you on the condition of our dear friend and colleague, Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor) of The Young and the Restless!

Tonight just a few hours ago, Jeanne’s son, Corbin Bernsen made a new updated posting to his facebook page, relating to Jeanne’s fans and friends her current health status while she remains hospitalized.

Corbin stated, “Many have asked for an update on mom’s condition. In short, it remains the same. She is resting, she’s in peace and in no pain. Where it will lead is now fully in God’s hands and we have given over to that, to Him and his plan for her. But she is still with us on this side of the thin fence that separates us from our earthly body and the great mystery and magnificence of the hereafter. Honestly, all I want for her is comfort and to know the abundance of love that surrounds her. She knows of each of you and your prayers. I whispered to her today of the great love and affection you send her way. She is a beacon whose bright light will not easily fade away. She is a boxer who will not easily give up. So we wait for her to do things on her terms… as if it were ever anything but that!”

Please continue to send your love and support, and prayers to Jeanne and her family during this most difficult of times.  We know so many of you have been touched by Jeanne’s performances as Mrs C., and that you feel like she is part of your own family.  Jeanne is that special of a lady to all that have watched her work for 40 years on the number one soap, and for those who have had the honor to know her personally.

Although I have never had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Cooper, I have watched her on Y&R since I was 23. I’m 62 now. I love how she speaks here mind. No syrupy phoniness, just straight up realism. I hope that spark gets her through whatever she is facing. If it doesn’t, heaven is going to have it’s hands full. Sending love & prayers to one hell of a woman.

My hope, of course, is that you return to good health and our lives, but if that is not to be the case, then I hope for a pain-free release to whatever awaits. Best wishes to you & yours always.

Jeanne Cooper is a class act. I recall she befriended a low-powerTV station talk show hostess in Bucyrus Ohio in the 1990s and even came to visit said hostess. I was working in a neighboring town as a newspaper reported and one evening I got a phone call from a local downtown bar and restaurant. Jeanne Cooper was there with her new friend. There was no story to report. I respected that Miss Cooper was there like any other patron, but this being a small town, she graciously posed for a photo of record that would appear on the next… Read more »

I have been watching the Y and R since 1979. Mrs. C. Has remained an amazing character as she is a person outside of the show. She is beautiful …still ….I am greatful she is not suffering near the end…as we all can only hope for. Unfortunately it is those left behind..who suffer the loss. She is loved as a family member to her long time viewers. To her son, I feel for your pain. This show has brought joy to my life, of which there is not alot right now. I will always remember her saying live each day… Read more »

I’ve been watching her as Mrs. C since I was a little girl. She is the very essence of all things we love about soaps; the family connections, a strong woman who overcame obstacles on and off screen. There is no other TV genre where we as soap fans feel that kind of connection. My heart aches for her family, as I know exactly how you feel. Continued prayers for comfort and peace.

I have brought Mrs C into my home everyday for many years. Precious lady, I hope you know how much your fans love and adore you. We are praying for a miracle as we are not ready to let you go. God is in control and when He is ready then Heaven will welcome a very special angel.

She has passed. Corbin’s post: My mother passed away this morning just a short time ago, peaceful with my sister by her side, in her sleep. I was going to visit this afternoon, thought I had time. Reminder to self – time is a precious thing. I too am at peace however. I said my goodbyes several times over during the last few weeks. I’ll go one last time now for a gentle kiss a final farewell for this lifetime. She has been a blaze her entire life, that beacon, that boxer I spoke of earlier. She went the full… Read more »

I have watched The Young and the Restless since it began in 1973. I was 17 years old at the time. My mother, 4 sisters and I enjoyed watching the character of Kay Chandler together. We laughed and cried as her character went through the ups and downs of life. I feel like Jean Cooper was a part of my childhood and my life. She reminds me of all the times I shared with my mother and sisters watching the show over the years. My mother has now passed, but I remember how much we enjoyed watching Jeanne Cooper’s magic… Read more »

‘Days of our Lives’ to Honor James Reynolds’ 40th Anniversary as Abe Carver with Special Episode

As DAYS viewers witnessed on Friday’s episode, Abe has been shot in the park, after Carmine pulls out a gun, and Jake (Brandon Barash) tries to apprehend him.  Jake rushes to Abe’s side and calls an ambulance and he is rushed to University Hospital.  Once there, Abe eventually flatlines, while Lani (Sal Stowers), Paulina (Jackee Harry) and Eli (Lamon Archey) are besides themselves with worry.

This sets the stage for Monday’s episode where Abe will go into the light, as Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) works to save his light and while he hovers between life and death, DAYS fans are treated to the special 40th anniversary episode of James Reynolds as Salem’s Abe Carver.   The Daytime Emmy-winning actor, (he won Lead Actor in 2018) began his Salem journey when he first aired back on October 29th, 1981.

While Abe revisits the past, he will meet up with his late wife and love of his life, Lexie, only according to Soap Opera Digest, Renee Jones was not available to be a part of the milestone episode. So, in a pivot another actress was brought in.

Reynolds told SOD on the Lexie appearance, “The young actress they brought in to be part of this was just wonderful“n giving the essence of (their) relationship and communicated beautifully, just beautifully, in her face and her eyes, as Renee did quite so often.”  He added, “I was kind of transported, actually.”

In addition, James continues to be the the longest-running black actor in the same role in television history.

Check out the latest NBC promo featuring Abe’s life hanging in the balance below.

Now let us know, are you glad that DAYS is honoring James with this special 40th anniversary episode? What has been your favorite James Reynolds performance as Abe through the years? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

Breaking News

Stars React to Alec Baldwin Fatally Shooting Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins & Injuring Director, Joel Souza, In Prop Gun Mishap On Set of ‘Rust’

UPDATED: Over the last 24 hours, the entertainment world has been stunned, by the horrific incident that took place on the set of the western drama Rust, while it was shooting scenes in New Mexico.

What is known is that Alec Baldwin (Ex-The Doctors, Knots Landing) discharged a prop gun that killed Director of Photography, Halyna Hutchins and injured director, Joel Souza.  The film also stars Frances Fisher (Ex-Edge of Night) and Jensen Ackles (Ex-Days of our Lives). Baldwin is also a producer on the film.

Photo: Getty

According to Variety, the prop gun contained a “live single round,” according to an email sent by IATSE Local 44 to its membership.

On Friday, Alec Baldwin made a statement via Twitter on his Hilaria and Alec Baldwin Foundation Twitter feed, expressing: “There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours. I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”

Yesterday, The Sante Fe Sheriff’s Departments originally shared that “Hutchins, 42, and Souza, 48 were shot when a prop firearm was discharged by Alec Baldwin.  Ms. Hutchins was transported, via helicopter, to University of New Mexico Hospital where she was pronounced dead by medical personnel. Mr. Souza was transported by ambulance to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical center where he was undergoing treatment for his injuries. This investigation remains open and active. No charges have been filed in regard to this incident. Witnesses continue to be interviewed by detectives.”

This morning, Frances Fisher revealed in a twitter conversation with Patricia Arquette, that director Joel Souza had been released from the hospital.  Meanwhile, photographs of a distraught Baldwin emerged following the shooting.

The news of the Baldwin prop gun incident, isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Jon-Erik Hexum was killed on October 18, 1984, on the set of the TV show Cover Up when he accidentally shot himself in the head with a gun loaded with blanks. Then, in 1993, Brandon Lee, the son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee, died from a prop gun accident on the set of The Crow by a cast member.

As the news made its way through the entertainment community and mainstream news, several soap stars shared their reactions to the fatal shooting accident.

General Hospital’s Jon Lindstrom (Kevin/Ryan) expressed: “Feeling so sad for everyone involved in the tragedy on the #RustMovie set. I do know the film was staffed with experienced, thoughtful professionals. Please, let’s wait until we have the facts. Nothing positive will come from passing judgement or casting aspersions before then.”

General Hospital and Dynasty’s Emma Samms (Holly, Fallon) shared on her friend Jon-Erik Hexum’s death: This AWFUL tragedy on #Rust is unfathomable to me. If all on-set protocols were being adhered to, how, on earth, could it have happened? After what happened to Brandon Lee and my dear friend Jon-Erik Hexam, the firearm protocols became incredibly strict. I was told (when I was with him at the hospital afterwards) that Jon-Erik had been working with a completely empty gun all morning. A blank (still very dangerous) was loaded and then immediately there was a delay. Exhausted, he was allowed to fall asleep – loaded gun in hand. hey woke him, but there was immediately another delay. Jon-Erik put the gun to his head, forgetting it now contained a blank, (because he had just woken up) and jokingly pulled the trigger. He was not the kind of person to play around with a loaded gun. #fortherecord”

We will continue to post reactions and update this story.

What are your thoughts on the fatal shooting on the set of Rust? Comment below.  How can this not happen again, so everyone is safe in this working environment when ‘dangerous’ props are called for or used to make a movie or a TV show?
