Who doesn’t want a little Helena Cassadine in their soap lives to jazz things up? Now, General Hospital has revealed this week that none other than Constance Towers is reprising her role as the most evil Cassadine of them all!

But how? Didn’t we see Helena get poisoned to death via an assist from her grandson Nikolas in 2015?

In a new video teaser from the ABC daytime drama series, Towers is seen being very mysterious as Helena reveals, “You never know who’s going to come around”.

Watch the video teaser after the jump. Then let us know if you are excited to see how Helena makes an appearance in story in the comment section below.

LOVE !!!
Cosntance Towers !!!!

I knew she was not dead..
C’mon, really did anyone believe she was dead??

The Cassidines do not die, they are alians!

Now, if one is alive bring back ALL the Cassidines!

GH despertely needs suspense, intruge, excitment, adventure !
One true thing about the Cassidines, they never ever bored me and even had me on the edge!
The Cassidine Family are amoung the best of the best of GH families!

Yippeee!!! 🙂

I’d love for her to be alive…actually thought (probably a lot of us did) that she didn’t die. But…maybe she did! Her scenes so far are flashbacks.

Sorry, but Helena is W-A-Y TOO UNWATCHABLE, CREEPY AND ONE-DIMENSIONAL for my tastes!!!!! NO, NO AND MORE NO!!!!!

N-e-x-t……….

Helena Cassadine one dimension? In my opinion she is one of the greatest villains created on daytime. Watching her go up against Luke Spencer was priceless. I can’t wait too see what Helena does to Lulu.

DONE. TO. DEATH!! Seriously…enough! Love the actress but the character is just a ridiculous cartoon. 85 year old women are more concerned with hip replacements and angina than they are with slitting people’s throats.

I guess you never met my crazy Aunt who could slit your throat with her eyes-lol

Oh, jimh, you’ve really been on fire lately! So good to see you back here with your trademark humor fully intact!!!!

JimH. “another, classic” I echo Shay; post

I was in hysterics… who hasn’t received those steely looks… no words needed

oy

LOL… you were transfixed… immobile… didn’t know if you could run or stammer… quake in your boots.

whew

You have not met by 85 great aunt who takes tango lessons, is in a bowling league, walks 1.5 miles every day and swims 5 days a week.

Well then, Jenny, I guess you never witnessed the magnificent “Dowager Countess Violet Crawley” of Downton Abbey fame! Dame Maggie Smith’s formidable character could cut anyone down to size with just her famously rapier-sharp wit….(and tongue!)

Constance is just a solid actress…Love Helena and glad she is back either alive or whatever..Would love to see a “Witches of Port Charles” storyline featuring Helena Cassadine, Heather Webber and Dr Liesl Obrecht joining forces!!! Image the horror and the delicious comedic relief!!!

What a “Terrifying Troika” that would be, Omar!!!! I like it….

Wh–aa-t-t?! She was on today (Wed.)–and what was that cheesy set all about?? ):

What a sight for sore eyes!!!!! Welcome, Grande Dame of mystery and deviltry!!

i knew that isnt Anna…as i asked Shay earlier below…maybe its her twin???

Hey, Jimmy,
Well, I knew from the first meeting between Valentin and ‘Anna’ ( we do not really know who is who, at this point) that something was off. The puzzled look on Anna’s face spoke volumes….as their eyes locked, I sensed a story there.
I did mention Alex, as she had a prominrnt presence in Pine Valley. Valentin may have had an affair with Alex, not Anna. I mentioned the evil aunt Charlotte, who, at one point, pretended to be the Devane sisters’ mother, which proved not to be true.
She is supposedly dead, but is she really? I think Griffin is the profuct of that affair, and evil Charlotte holds the key.

PS, Jimmy,
I was very young, at the time, but I remember that the evil aunt Charlotte brainwashed Alex and programmed her to kill Anna. I asked my grandmother and she said most of the ‘happenings’ took place in Hungary. It’s a bit fuzzy for me….
I wonder If the hospital or ‘detention’ fortress we saw with Ann/ Alex is in Hungary. Is Anna/Alex being held prisoner by Charlotte or Helena?
Alex also has a son Aidan; but that fact is also questionable. He could be the son of a third sister, Lindsey.

I did not watch AMC faithfully back then so some of the story is fuzzy to me but with VI leaving Days i hope he pops up at GH…his David Hayward had a past with Alex and i wouldnt mind him coming to town as a new doctor with some shocking secrets…he is a Q…Alan, before arriving in PC had an affair with David’s mom and left her unaware she was pregnant…David also had an affair years ago with Dr.Lisel and Nathan is their son…David also knows Monica’s true identity…she is another sister of Dr. Lisel who is unaware Monica is her sister!!!…Change history?-i wouldnt mind this!!!

Wow!!!! That mind of yours kills me each time, Jimmy. I love it….and, I love VI. We can only hope he comes to GH after Days.
I would not mind your scenerio either.
Later.

@Mary SF.
Hi, Mary,
Absolutely, great comment, and explanations, Mary.
On the other site, Steve mentions the subtle differences between the ‘twins’, which only reenforces Finola’s superb acting.

I’ll watch Constance Towers read the phone book.

That might actually be more interesting than the current storyline with all its retconning.

The Queen returns! The great villains never die. Or maybe Helena is dead and she will be appearing in flashbacks for the Jake storyline. But the incomparable Constance Towers is certainly still with us, and looking as elegant as ever. God bless her, we can all only hope to look as good at soon to be 84 years old as she does.

Always intrigued by what they have in store for Helena. Would be wonderful to see her work with James Patrick Stuart, as Helena dealing with Valentin, another one of the bastards of her beloved Mikkos. The possibilities are endless. Welcome back, Queen!

YES!!! This is the best news yet. One of the greatest villains, if not the greatest, ever created on day time has returned. Long may Helena Cassadine aka Constance Towers reign. Think of the wonderful possibilities for story lines. Helena creating havoc during Lulu and Valentine’s custody fight for Charlotte. Helena making life miserable for Alexis once again. Then there is Helena’s grandson Spencer.

Hope Nikolas, Spencer, and Britt Westbourne come with her!

Especially Britt!!!! We need her—and her “Freaky Fa Faison!”—- to make return engagements to Port Charles!

yes, me miss my Britt…would like to see Monica turn out to be another sister of my GH favorite Dr.Liesel…thought Valentin was going to turn out to be Valentin’s son…and is that really Anna-she seems a little strange-maybe a clone???-lol

@jimh…Maybe Dr. O. pulled out that trusty Anna mask of hers for another round of impersonation?

All together now: Britt; Britt; Britt…..come home.

@Celia….Britt, Britt, BRITT come home!!! (And bring “Daffy Daddy” Faison along for the ride….)

Love Helena– dump story line, but it is always a ggod day when Helena is on–and am I the only one that thinks the Anna making moves on Valentin is an impostor and the real Anna is being held captive somewhere?

I mentioned from the first when Valentin kept hounding Anna about their past and Anna couldn’t remember…that it might be Anna’s twin that he had a past with…who was posing as Anna. (I’m not familiar with her twin but I know she had one on another soap.) Not sure if she was supposed to be evil…maybe they’re triplets and there’s one we didn’t know about.

Today’s episode showed the real Anna in some hospital bed–so looks like the twin thing or impostor is correct— either way FH acting is great, just enough difference in the character that one wasn’t sure at first if it was Anna or not, but you knew she wasn’t acting herself, but as time went by it was obvious this wasn’t Anna — not usually a fan of these “evil twin” stories either by birth or by plastic surgery– but in this case, the performance is so masterfully simple and complex that I’m intrigued — it is not the big dramatic scenes Emmy reels are made of– but it is performances like this one that keeps me hooked to Daytime

I like the actress and character but im bored by these repetitious storylines of back from the dead characters…it spoils the suspense knowing a character who dies suddenly isnt dead…kind of stagnates the story…no moving forward …we go backwards and start the process all over again…and i thought Valentin was suppose to be the most feared Cassadine-why he is more like Prince Charming who should fear that witch Nina-lol

& the constant rewriting of old storylines from TPTB. Sick and tired of it. I hardly watch the show. I catch-up by coming on here and reading Michael’s updates and everyone’s comments.

A lousy writer’s strike in 1981 and we have been paying the price ever since. I like Constance and I liked Liz Taylor. But I was never a fan of the “curse” story line introduced by Liz Taylor and then all the curses following. If they wanted to introduce Cassadines and Helena all of those years ago, fine. But I could have done without the Ice Princess weather machine, curses and cryogenics. Some things should have died with the writer’s strike. I’m glad Nikolas, Stefan and Alexis came along as a result of the original 1981 story, but I can do without the other stuff.

I don’t know if she’s “back from the dead”, jimh, or if she’s going to be on in flashbacks. But I don’t necessarily think it’s going backwards because the story regarding lil Jake and what happened to him (and Jason) on that island was never addressed. So, to me they’re getting back to something they started, unlike some other stories which they never seem to finish.

As for Valentin…I’m loving this character. So emotionally complex! I love his back story…lots of pathos injected into Valentin. I think it is a story about a man with two sides…the suffering hunchback who was hurt emotionally and physically and the man he’s become…both on the inside and outside since his operation. But…the hurt, humiliation, anger is still on the inside…waiting for just the right catalyst to set him off. The fake Anna just pissed him off…Nina just left him. Now…rage. The story begins!

Yes!!! The queen bitch is back!!! Any chance she’ll bring her grandson Nikolas with her so we can see he really is alive? And won’t it be good to watch her go up against Valentin? I can’t wait!!!

She’s back in a flash back.

I love the actress but the character has run her course. Let’s move this along. What happened to Jason four years ago is of very limited interest.

MORE Laura, more Qs , please.

MAJOR applause for this ^

Frank Jean and Shelley have spiraled almost every story

so long drawn out… snooze fest

1. the Anna story out to get Valentin ? whatever the heck for? at this point ? because of her guilt for working @WSB? isn’t that to be expected from all WSB employees?… or was she betrayed by Valentin ? who .. as dashing handsome and sexy as all get out… is SOMETHING… but we all know it’s with Nina and Charlotte he belong. MOVE Anna… Puhlease… it’s making your character ??? weak ? get a life .. if she doesn’t remember herself… it’s not like she’s suffering or harboring feelings . the writers must be drawing this out… because of the high caliber actors… and that’s all good and well… leave the Cassadine alone already

2. this coloring book story of what happened to too cute and not enough character… of little Jake. he’s just not that catching… blah blah blah on all the characters … save for Liz. enough of Jason and Sam… ( doing anything ) along with Franco . go to Cassadine island …. what a big mystery build up. this all just stinks.

3. gosh darned it already… Sonny and Carly … I want them to divorce.. let’s see what these characters can REAL…. lets see what these actors can bring to the table. even tho i’d rather they be given the heave ho… it just riles that the vision that Frank Jean and Shelley THOUGHT … would WIN GH … by featuring Sonny and Carly as a sure bet… NOT waste of air time… the ratings and emmy winless prove a lot.

ps: absolute on more Laura and and the Q’s

had to put this out their

When Ron Carlivatis material begins to air on DAYS they’ll bring back original Jason..Robert..Leslie..a not so dead Alan..or his ghost with an evil spirit mistress..Jeff and Heather..original Carly..Mark and Gina Dante..Terry Weber and who ever else they can think to dig up..boo…surprise…surprise my foot. Oh .please.
..

argh! Constance Towers deserves to come back.. because she is a great actress for this genre and much to my dismay … is GOOD for GH.

the thing that I’m not looking forward to is… once again… Frank Jean and Shelley are going to trot out Jason and Sam….

God.. it’s painful to watch Jason Sam and even Franco… attempting to bring life to the story of what happened to Jake. how I miss James Nigbor… this recast is such a toothache. this story is so dull… thankfully Liz helps our attention span.

this, reminds me of Tyler Christopher… simply put… at or very near the top of GH best leading men.

I miss Nicholas Cassadine….. imagine him and Valentin leading

these two men have it in spades… all the sensual plus to keep tuned in

Jason, Finn, and Sonny are forgettable

No Helena…No GH.

ABC broke in again for a press conference.

YES… adore her and everything that she brings to her role and to the story and to the cast! So happy to see her back again!

I completely agree, Heidi!

Helena was poisoned and she lives to tell so I think she has Nicholas and is punishing him for his betrayal. Now we need someone to play Nicholas.

Good thinking, Timmmy! …… I think you mentioned this before, and I agreed that Helena had Nikolas ‘stashed’ somewhere. So, does this mean that Valentin and Helena were in cahoots on their Greek-island-get-away?
Again, all these new developments beg the question: is Helena still alive?

C, there are so many good story possibilities out there. I hope they dont mess it up! Roger signed a new contract. I hope Jason kills Franco on CI and Roger goes on a long vacation and comes back as Todd. Also, I want Finn to OD and leave the show and come back as McBain and go back to Sam. Try fake Jason with Liz and see what happens. Bring back somebody to play Lucky and create a triangle! Bring back Nick and Britt. Sign Wally Kurth to a multi year deal! Love him!

@Timmm.
I agree with every word you said….signed, sealed, delivered.

Although this is not exactly a surprise–we all said at the time that we knew Helena wouldn’t really stay dead–and I do think Constance Towers is a pleasure to watch as Helena, frankly, no, I don’t need another Cassidine around, thank you (unless it’s Nik, who I’m sure is also not really dead). It’s better than more mob characters, but that’s about it. Given the per capita quota of pure evil that runs loose in Port Charles, why does anybody decent continue to live there? I get that every soap needs villains to help drive the storylines, but GH really does need to try something new.

seems like they had a great opportunity to make Valentin, a villain. he never stood a chance once he stepped foot back in Port Charles. because of his “murdering” Nicholas . dang it tho… I’m hoping with many posts that Valentin , heck even Helena.. is nursing Nicholas back to health… and perhaps is being held captive… whatever the case… we need Valentin out of the clutches of Anna and every other denizen of Port Charles… Valentin and Nina are being wasted as well.. with this long drawn out story.

it’s been a constant Anna WILL Or WONT she captivate the audience and let alone Valentin.

what is the payout supposed to be? it’s just not interesting enough.. especially knowing Valentin already has a wife and child. seems like the writers don’t know what to do any way… so they are stretching out this story … with Finola Hughes

it’s almost too much Anna… listening in on conversations… waiting for that one big break. the story certainly didn’t pay out when it was revealed Valentin was what? the elephant man ? who after plastic surgery… is now one of the sexy as all get out leading man, GH must capitalize on?

another leading vixen … GH faltered on… was Michelle Stafford Nina. every one knows what a dynamo MS is capable of. I wanted more than anything… for Nina to FIGHT Anna … and w/Valentin … FIGHT Lulu. neither of these two ladies stood a chance… yet the writing is spun and turns so lamely.

I couldn’t believe when Anna had Nina in a headlock… down on the table… OK

I will actually give prop to Lulu… for her first court appointed visit with Charlotte , Lulu did not mamma smurph herself… and actually made me a believer that Charlotte could actually enjoy her company… just never as her mother… that’s Nina

so.. yes… GH had every opportunity to villain either or … or both.. as the reigning couple of Port Charles… GIVE THIS COUPLE POWER.. and it’s a no holds barred cinematic feast. Valentin + Nina + Charlotte.

I got it !

Robin Christopher … RETURNS as Skye Quartermaine… with Lilia Rae and she becomes the new queen bee bitch… imagine the hot talks and banter between her and Monica … and the arch nemesis with Carly.

Robin Christopher is sexy as heck… it’d be a FUN FUN FUN time with Ned and Dillon, as well

Maura West has been stuck, as Ava.

she would have made a great villainess. she’s become a supporting character to Kiki… and is backburner with Sonny… over Avery.

this is downright mad. with all their focus … Frank / Jean / Shelley STUCK on ;

sonny / carly / Jason / sam / finn / Hayden / Michael / Nelle.

I have repeated often… I can imagine GH without the above characters. really?

“QUARTERMAIN’IA”

I just finished the May 4th eppi ( last night ) ; when Jane Elliott bade farewell.

it’s amazing… when an actor and character are so well fused together… become one in the same.. hence, our imaginations take on these feelings . when all the personalities meld together… and the screen – just – LIGHTS UP

I cried about Tracy relationships… with Ned, Monica, and Dillon… in this order.

especially with Ned as Tracy looks him right in the eye and tells him ” You, are, MY rock “…. the dam spilled and broke wide open when she rushed back in and ran in to Monica arms…. tears… and it was a group hug with HER sons.

SO MUCH RICH HISTORY is going to be missed for Monica. GH simply has got to keep this lady going… for however long she wants to be.

Ms. Jane Elliott… had a ready arsenal… a quip.. a wit that never quit… a humane spirit… all the while , genteel .

you just know there’s a lighthouse out their and it’s Jane

@Patrick…Always loved your clever coinage of the term “Quartermainia!” It simply slips off the tongue is such a supremely silky way. Kudos!!!!

I agree, Patrick. Ava seems to be vacillating between earth and limbo.
Firstly, I thought she had custody of Avery. I am somewhat confused as to how Sonny, now, has the upper hand….soooo covoluted….borders on boredom.
Secondly, the pill story is driving me up the wall….end it, one way or the other.
And our favorite resident, Sonny, will get away with his machinations and mal-functioning brain. Again!! He really should join Heather.
It’s a soap!!! Observe and absorb? LOL.

Love Helena/Constance Towers, but DAMN could the production quality be any crappier!? Camera shadows?

Finally, the “Ice Queen” cometh! Welcome back to Port Charles, Helena Cassadine and welcome back to GH, Miss Constance Towers…you’ve (both) been missed!

As lovely and elegant as Constance is…Nothing can save US from
these LIFELESS storylines!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unless ABC finally wakes up from
the COMA these 2 HEAD WRITERS have put them in & kindly show
them the EXIT…..TIME FOR SOME NEW BLOOD ‼️‼️

marquee – spotlight – gavel

Jean and Shelley – started their spiral August 10, 2015

and… got renewed September 16, 2016

this being May 2017.. that’s near, two years in, to one of the biggest messes… ( OK I know, @DOOL has had it’s darkness )

HOPEFULLY… fan rally … in 3-4 months time we get a lifeline

Hi, sweet lady….missed you.
And, yes, these stories are not grabbing me, either, albeit, I am intrigued by the Anna/Alex/Valentin, developing story. Valentin is the most enigmatic character, right now. Nevertheless, what happened to the monster he was purported to be? The transformation from the ruthless ogre to whimpy, whimpy, whimpy, is baffling, to say the least. And, I want him and Nina to stay together.
I must say, though, that if it drags on indefinitely, my interst will wane with the moon.

This storyline is just plain dumb! It’s uninteresting and it’s stupid. I don’t care about Jake’s drawings, Franco and Jason’s hunt thru the woods, or the time that Helena kept Jake and Jason hidden away. It’s beyond boring and stupid!

She’s aliiiive!!!!!

I may be done. Despite Ms. Towers’s wonderful talents, I am so weary of the back-from-the-dead trope. It has been done too many times and is no longer a surprise nor does it provide an element of suspense. An established daytime drama device admittedly, GH has done too much of this in recent years. As such, I think integrity takes a hit. Death is a part of the story, too.

hi Iakovos ..
Soap 101 ..
The dead are never ever dead , not in soap land.
I believe it is a rule– no one ever dies in a soap with exciption of a real life death.

So, when so or so dies he/she died but is not dead .. lol

Helena did not come back from the dead she was never dead .

It looks like she’s still dead folks. They’re not really flashbacks because they’re new scenes – but they take place while Helena was still breathing.

She plays the role so well it does not matter how many times she comes back from the dead, she is always welcome.

Welcome back, Helena!!! 🙂 🙂

Well I hope that her one appearance yesterday wasn’t the end…the rumors seem to still indicate she is truly back in the present…Chimera was mailed to Jake by a delivery guy that was Helena’s flunkie punching Jason back in the flashback…the rumors that she might show up at the Nurses Ball as well…I hope she is back in spectacular fashion…Long Live the Queen

Ok you crazies you do know she is married to John Gavin the actor he was Ammasordor to Mexico under Ronald Reagan oh god perish the thought

I’ve mentioned that very fact before, k/kay!!! I absolutely love the classy, elegant Miss Towers and her highly-accomplished husband, Mr. Gavin…and their link to the Reagan Administration just makes them all the more beloved in my mind!!!

John Gavin was hot, hot, hot!!!! Still is!!!!

@CeeCee….Yes, he is!…I was holding out hope that Mr. Gavin would grace the GH canvas as the elegant Helena’s “new squeeze!” He certainly would have been a far sight better than her creepy paramour, Fluke!

Constance Towers is simply great as Helena, no question. But that sickening display of sadistic violence on Wednesday’s ep makes me not care if she returns or not. Ooh, what fun seeing Jason beaten to a bloody pulp while Helena looks on gleefully saying MORE, MORE. Pathetic. If GH is intent on graphic violence, how about tying up a villain once in a while and letting them have it. I’m appalled and disturbed by what I saw on Wednesday’s show. Then having Franco smash Jason’s head in and punch him in the stomach to “help him”? Billy Miller deserves better. And so do we.

Soaphound…You saved me from having to make a new post. Where are they getting these writers? I am a fan of Helena and Constance, but was really disturbed at the graphic, sadistic violence featured on her return during the flashback and other. Helena was more known for mind games, not what we saw on Wednesday, at least not on screen. Certainly not the kind of episode you would want you kids or grandkids to see. Even Sonny doesn’t come off that bad, and he’s a crime boss with enforcers.

I disagree, Rose. First, I know many people “grew up” on soaps but soaps aren’t written for kids. GH has also been about sex, crime, (unfortunately, “rape” ala Luke and Laura). This isn’t Bold and Beautiful as you and I, as new viewers, can easily see. Even that soap, which is full of beauty…from the characters to the costumes, locations, set designs, etc…has sex, sexual innuendoe, betrayal, etc.

GH isn’t doing anything new. A punch to the gut? Knocks on the head? The Three Stooges have been doing that to “comedic effect” since forever. So do cartoons.

I don’t get why and “children” are watching soaps. And, I certainly don’t want my soap to be written for their eyes. While we’re not used to seeing people get punched out…people get shot, mugged…held at knifepoint…etc. GH is very mob and villain oriented. People either love it or not but it’s definitely not B&B or Y&R.

Just my opinion…As always, fan opinions differ.

Hi Rebecca…Guess we have different tolerance levels when it comes to violence in daytime soaps. I can handle the more “innuendo/mild” kind. Even Sonny’s stuff isn’t that visually too violent. Then there was the Luke/Laura rape scene a longtime ago. And Todd/Marty on OLTL which was pretty bad as well. Thankfully I missed both. And I’ve never been a Three Stooges fan.

For me Helena’s look and instructions were more than a punch to the gut, etc…there was something very sadistic and cruel about it. Helena was/is “classier” and craftier than that. Combine that with almost everything on tv now showing violence from news to drama, the scarecrow scene during the day, with Constance of all lovely ladies, really bothered me. But in all cases that’s just me.

Hey again, Rose. Helena has always been sadistic…she slit Alex’s mom’s throat. We didn’t see it, of course. But as charming, sarcastic, amusing, sharp, flirty (with Luke) as Helena always was…there was no denying she was violent and evil. There’s plenty of violence in Outlanders and Poldark, too. I think it’s just that we’re not used to seeing it spelled out visually as much on a soap. So, while I was surprised and kinda winced for Jason, (and if it were reality Franco could have killed him with that rock to the head), I understood Franco was trying to recreate the scene so Jason would remember. Convoluted but at once comical. I laughed when Jason conked him back. I guess I just don’t take them that seriously. And, as said, I don’t think kids should be watching soaps…there’s nothing on a soap for kids. They’re all sex, betrayal, lies, crime, heartached, etc, etc. Late teens, college age? I guess many of us did that and that age is certainly fine with seeing whatever the soaps have to show. They’re nothing compared to songs/videos, video games etc. Light stuff!

But, “in all cases that’s just me.” 🙂

I don’t think, as Steve points out, Helena is alive, Soaphound I, also, thought these visuals were flasbacks.
What is more puzzling to me is Franco. He is getting weirder by the minute.
I’m with dmr…I don’t even look forward to the show, albeit I won’t stop watching.

Hello sweet CeCe…. UR absolutely right about Helena, they R flashbacks.
And I second UR emotions about GH…wish I didn’t, never thought I would
feel the like this.

Could the surprising – yet wonderful news – that Jennifer Bassey is joining GH lead to my dream sophisticated lady connection. Regardless of whether Bassey plays Marian Chandler or another character, I’ve thought for a long time that she would play a good sister to Helena. As far as I know, they’ve never mentioned Helena’s pre-Cassadine past. Similarly, AMC didn’t dive into Marian’s background prior to marrying Liza’s dad.

I look forward to the first “dah-ling” out of Miss Bassey’s mouth.

Oh, Steve…I love Ms Bassey and her “dah-ling”…. could it be??

PS.
‘Twould be even more wunderbar if Marian brought bad girl, Liza, with her.

I’m sooo friggin’ glad to see Helena …….She’s Baaaccckkkkkk !!!! Bring IT !!!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
