ABC comedy sitcom star Cristela Alonzo from the series named after her, Cristela (Fridays at 8:30PMEST) will be seen on an upcoming very special Valentine’s Day episode of General Hospital, it was announced today by the network.

Alonzo is admittedly a long time fan of the daytime drama series, and so the producers and writers have worked her into the story where she will play Port Charles’ Assistant District Attorney Natalia Rodriguez, who works for District Attorney Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner).  In story, while at the PCPD, she has some questions for Det. Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) regarding a recent break-in.  Realizing it is Valentine’s Day, they later open up about their loved ones.

In addition as previously announced, Baby Daddy duo Derek Theler and Melissa Peterman will also guest star on the Valentine’s episode as well with Derek playing a colleague of Dr. Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson), and Melissa playing an old friend of Olivia Falconeri (Lisa LoCiero) from Bensonhurst.

What do you think about Cristela making an appearance in Port Charles as Assistant DA Natalia Rodriguez?  The upcoming GH Valentine’s Day episode? Comment below!

Because having HER own show on ABC is not enough?

I hate stunt casting. I still remember how terrible Katie Couric was when she was on to show her fun side before the launch of her canceled talk show.

What is wrong with using some of the soap actors they already have?!

yaaa!
ABC having crossovers of Cristela and Baby Daddy is a very good sign that ABC is investing in GH and wants it to prosper ..

It is promoting General Hospital ! Exposing it to millions..

The guests will be a in and out ….(nothing to be upset over..

Katie wasnt an actor…of course Ryan Paevey isnt one too…lol…seriously, this Cristela is an actress and will probably do a better job than Katie…i see nothing wrong with this so-called stunt casting…its an actor doing an acting job and its good publicity for both shows…besides many actors from movies, primetime, music and stage have made appearances in daytime soaps…if a daytime star can do primetime or a movie whatever and we can congratulate them it should be no different if someone who does primetime or something else in the entertainment industry makes an appearance on daytime tv…in this case its just an actor taking on just another acting job…sure, id like to see many GH actors on more especially LC as Monica but like i said there is nothing wrong with someone making a guest appearance…this is only a short visit…its not like they are taking someone else’s place…this has been done for years with Carol Burnett, Liz Taylor, Sammy Davis just to name a few…no one called it stunt casting…maybe its a publicity gimmick…no big deal…every show morning, noon or night do what they can to attract fans to their show…thats Hollywood!…Peace!!!

I know she’s really funny, jimh. If she can bring some of that humor with her, then I guess it’s ok. She can’t be any worse than some.

Amen to that, Chrystie! Sounds about as interesting as that ridiculous Shonda stunt awhile back. If we must have some ABC stars visit Port Charles, how about Ioan Gruffudd from “Forever?” Now THAT would add some excitement…or even “Richard Castle” himself, ex OLTL-er, Nathan Fillion! Then maybe I could be on-board with this annoying habit of foisting the network’s pets upon GH. (And while we’re at it, if ABC is so keen to send their prime timers over to the show, then ship Jonathan Jackson from Nashville to reprise his Lucky for a bit.)

Yawn

i think its great, look, abc family and abc primetime stars appearing on abc daytime sister show they are part of the abc family! i personally think it would of been better for them to play the characters they play on their shows, and play into the characters existing in the same “universe” like marvel does with their shows and movies. I personally don’t think the three actors are big enough to attrack any one from their shows to sample GH, but if they would of play their characters then maybe their “viewers” from their shows would of sample GH just to follow their characters.

Playing their own characters would be a legal matter..
ABC is crossing the ‘actor’ not the character..
They can not use the characters only the actors..

Both shows are abc…it wouldnt be a big issue if she played her character…look at gh…several characters from oltl came over to gh and played their characters with no legal problems…oops…my bad…guess there was legal issues or PP wouldnt have taken abc to court…lol

Hi jimh!
wow! that was a helluva mess! reading and keeping with that lawsuit and what lead to it was a terrific soap in itself !!

(awww the good ol’ days lol)

Whatever it takes to get GH publicity. I’m sure Inside Edition or Entertainment Tonight will have something on the crossover.

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”

Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.

Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. She tells her, “Pick out your most seductive suit.” Soon, we see Serena in her bathing suit at the Metro Court face to face with Michael.

Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Take a look at the official GH spoilers for the week below.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 4
Brook Lynn and Chase celebrate a milestone. Trina gets an earful. Carly’s plan backfires. Curtis is skeptical. Michael is anxious about his family’s’ future.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5

FRIDAY, AUGUST 7

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
