As you are watching tonight’s heartbreaking and dramatic episode of TNT’s Dallas, which gives a major send-off  to the character of J.R Ewing and icon, Larry Hagman (J.R.), a new story will evolve from it with Christopher Ewing and the Ewing family, as they try figure out the clues to “J.R.’s Masterpiece” (9PMEST/8PMCST) which is also aptly the title of tonight’s episode.

On-Air On-Soaps caught up with Jesse Metcalfe (Christopher) at yesterday’s Paley Center For Media PaleyFEST 2013 in Beverly Hills,  before Jesse and the cast were introduced to the public in attendance for the Dallas panel!

Metcalfe discussed with us the hot button issue of Victoria Principal (Pam Ewing), and if she would ever come back to the show, or if the fact that she put out the statement were she strongly denied she would ever return to Southfork means anything else when trying to read between the lines?  Jesse fills us in now on his thoughts on the matter, and what to look for in the coming weeks between John Ross (Josh Henderson) and Christopher, as the Ewings face new urgent family matters!

So after you teased that you would be excited to see Victoria Principal (Pam) come back to Dallas, Victoria herself put out a statement denying she would ever come back.  Isn’t Pam integral to the storyline that starts on tonight’s episode?  Would you love to play the story where Christopher reunites with his mom?

JESSE: Of course, I would love to play that storyline.  Her character is very integral to the storyline that unfolds and is set in motion after J.R.’s death.  I am loving what they are doing!

Will J.R’s. death then bring feuding cousins, John Ross and Christopher together for a common cause?

JESSE: It puts us together and brings the family together for awhile including John Ross, Christopher, Bobby (Patrick Duffy), and Sue Ellen (Linda Gray), who kind of unite in investigating something that J.R leaves behind.   He leaves behind some clues as to what has been going on behind the scenes that we had no idea of.   And that really opens a Pandora’s Box of intrigue, manipulation, and it brings a lot of different characters together. It pays off huge dividends in the season finale!

I still think Pam is actually coming back! Methinks, the lady doth protest too much!

JESSE:  Hey, you never know!  That was a very effusive statement Victoria Principal made. (Laughs) I know I am open for her to return and there is a lot of good work going on with this show, and TNT’s Dallas is a great show. I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want to be a part of it.

So, what do you think of Jesse’s comments? Do you think Pam will ever return to Southfork? Watch tonight’s  episode featuring J.R.’s funeral and give us your feedback!

I would like to see her return. Can’t wait for tonight’s episode.

Maybe Pam will come back as a suprise cliffhanger. Maybe itll be Victoria Principal and her statements were made to throw fans off and not spoil the suprise. If Pam comes back and its not V.P. perhaps Jacklyn Smith could take over the role.

Jaclyn Smith would be a great recast! I wondered tonight ab out the Christopher’s mom statement. Were they referring to Pam or Bio mom Kristin (perhaps she is alive after all). Interesting twist.

Maybe J.R. kept Kristen in a mental hospital all this time and she got out and killed him.

Perhaps, Jim. After the scene of Mae’s shooting aired and heels could be heard clicking, I immediately thought of Kristin. It would bring things full circle. Oh, another great recast for Pam would be Lynda Carter. 😉

That was supposed to be JR’s shooting – auto correct.

What would be an even more interesting twist is that J.R. was dieing and killed himself but staged it to look like one of his enemies murdered him instead. Old dastardly J.R. would love one last chance to get even with his enemies, i think. Just an idea.

I sure hope your right, that her statement was meant to throw us off. I don’t think that woulda came about in the show, if they had no intentions on giving us Victoria. That be cruel! Fans have been ranting since the show started to bring her back. I always thought they could say JR took her from the hospital, fixed her up with that doctor as a deterent to the Ewings, and say she was dying, so JR could get his hands on the Wentworth money as he was trying. The heels clicking would make a great story line if it was pam that shot him.

What if for some reason J.R. decided to go out with a bang, and killed himself? Maybe J.R. found out he was dieing, and not wanting to slip away without doing one last evil deed against one of his enemies, he somehow managed to stage his suicide to appear as if one of his enemies had murdered him instead. This is just an idea but knowing J.R. he was always looking for ways to get back at those he considered enemies, and this would be his finale chance to get even with every one of them.

I really wish she can return 2 see her grand babies and her son. I wish she would reconsider she’s an excellent actress but I understand her reasoning even though its not one I agree with but I get it

Yes, please! Will the original Pamela Barnes Ewing please step forward.

I would love for Victoria Principal to come back to the show, but I actually believe her statement. Also, Pam isn’t Christopher bio-mom, she’s his adoptive mother. I do have a feeling though that it will be revealed that JR is his biological father.

I was trying to remember, isn’t Sue Ellen’s sister Christophers mother?

Yes she is but she lost the baby her and JR had because she had a miscarriage. Christopher’s dad was her boyfriend after she move to California she quickly got pregnant again to keep the money coming from JR and Jordan Lee. The father was killed after trying to blackmail Bobby with baby Christopher.

Now that I think about it, it’s a good thing Pam isn’t his biological mother because that would have made Rebecca(his wife) his first cousin.

She should come back to at least say farewell to Larry Hagman. He deserves that from everyone that was ever on that show.

Pam is not Christopher’s biological mother… Bobby brought him to JR, thinking he was Kristin’s and JR’s son, but Pam thought the baby was for her and took him. Later, tests reveled the bsby was NOT Kirstein’s — she had miscarried before she died in the pool, so the baby is not JR’s. Now, they may rewrite history, but that’s what happened in the past.

No the baby was infact Kristen’s, and your right JR was not the father. Kristen miscarried JR’s baby, and got pregnant again to that low life, that sold the baby to Bobby.

Thank you….Just asked that question

It was a brilliantly done episode tonite-true to the DALLAS history and new evolving storylines.I’m hooked! I do hope Victoria Principal returns, even if just for cloture.

Me too! Loved Linda Gray last night and Patrick Duffy at the end saying goodbye to JR. Dallas is a great show and I would love for Victoria to return even just for a couple episodes!

Bidding farewell to JR tonight, was very bittersweet. So many highlighted moments. John Ross’s silent anger & grieve over his daddy’s death is passing him over to the dark side for good. As much as my heart broke for him, I’m so excited to see him take his rightful place & make his daddy proud. And OMG Sue Ellen! Watching her completely brokehearted reading JR’s love letter out load & professing her undying love for him had me crying as hard Sue Ellen. I loved the love hate relationship JR & Sue Ellen shared. It was a dark fairy tale for the ages. I will miss my fav Dallas super couple something awful, but what a romantic way to seem up their love one last time. Truly beautiful! Lastly, what can I say about Bobby. Sigh. As a long time Bobby fan, it was very upsetting to me to see Bobby suffering so much. He’s really a mess for JR’s passing & he needs someone to deeply comfort him. My opinion there’s only ONE woman that has ever been able to do that. And that woman’s name is Pamela Barnes Ewing. I know Victoria said she has over plans, but the Pam & Bobby fan in me isn’t buying that. It’s all about time, right? 😉

I absolutely agree with everything you have said. Infact all of your words have brought goose bumps and tears to me… So i do hope that victoria principle retruns if its just for a shoulder for bobby to cry on. I truly loved them as a couple. Whole heartedly. Lets watch the space – you never know…. shirley

Pam Barnes Ewing needs to return to the show. The idea of Jacklyn Smith portraying the character is excellent.

I’m game for Jaclyn Smith since I’ve always been a fan but still would love the original Victoria Principal to come back for a bit 🙂

Nope, its all about HER, doubt she will ever return.

Pam can come back(I don’t care either way) as long as she doesn’t break up Bobby and Ann! Brenda Strong is awesome. Those could be some interesting fights.

If Bobby and Ann break up, it is what Ann did, not Bobby or Pam.

I think Bobby has been so hurt by Pam deliberately leaving his life. She did survive the car crash. The years have healed him. He found love again and love had left again. Now he has Ann. He loves Ann. But now with The Ewing family feuding and the murder of J.R., this is going to put a strain on Bobby and Ann’s marriage. It would be a perfect time for Pam or a past love interest of Bobby’s to return. That is good soap opera story-telling. However, Victoria Principal has given her public “NO!”.
If Victoria Principal wants to stick her nose up in the air and not join the new Dallas tv series at some point, then that is fine. The creative writing will continue.

Spoiler, I think it’s going to be revealed that Pam killed JR. It’s only fitting that somebody that meant something to the series takes out JR.

What a fabulous episode last night! I really wish Pam would come back 1) to support Christopher in this upcoming baby drama 2) to give closure to her relationship with Bobby 3) Cliff seems a little more twisted than usual. Pam is the only person who’s ever been able to straighten him out.

I agree Bobby should ultimately stay with Anne.

I for one wish Victoria Pricipal would hurry up and return to Dallas. I used to love watching her and Patrick Duffy together. I’m getting rather impatient and annoyed too as its taking far to long. But having said if she didnt return i do feel that Jaqueline Smith would play the part really well, so Christophers children will have a granmother afterall. Pam really needs to return though, her place is with Bobby and Bobby with her, not with Anne, they dont suit each other. Just my opinion thats all. Eeeek

I Think like All What You All Said About Pam ,!! But If Victoria Doesn’t Want To Come Back Then I Think Margaret Michaels Should Play Pam Was Good In Season 11 of The First Dallas, She Play A Good Pam!! I really Liked Her She Look’s Somewhat like Pam & Victoria!!
I Know She Not The Pam We All Want But If She Is Willing To Play Pam Then So Be It!!
I really Liked Her She Is A Good Actress Just Like Victoria!!!!

I say if V.P. truly doesn’t want to come back then just recast her. They found someone who very much resembled her in the past. I’m sure they could do the same thing now!

Actually, having victoria principal return to dallas will require an extensive backstory- if you remember correctly – after the horrendous car accident which left Pamela Ewing in head to toe bandages -she disappeared then re-appeared months later with extensive face plastic surgery -and the cliffhanger that she was dying..so how will this all playout on the new Dallas? and if they bring back Victoria Principal -the writers will have to clear up an already confusing storyline

Maybe as a nod to the original series they could say Pams accident was all a dream…lol.

Would love to see Pam (Victoria Principle) come back!!!!

Bobby belongs with Pam!!! Ann and her crazy daughter need to go back and live with the “Who’s The Boss” grandma. Maybe Tony Danza can come on the show and set them all straight.

What season did Pam leave the show?

I agree if Victoria really won’t come back Jaclyn Smith would be perfect for the role and convincing as Pamela Ewing.

VP’s explanation simply doesnt make sense. If she presonally thinks Pam’s Romeo and Juliet story ended with her dying after the car accident – so be it. But what’s “reality”on a show is what the writers make of it (plus its been what? 20 years?) The role can be easily recast – and if thats what theyre going to do, Im sure it will be done well. However, I cant see her with Bobby. Bobby has gropwn – and he is perfect wih Ann.

I wish it were true. Pam’s return in the final season would be truly amazing! What a cliffhanger.

I think Cliff Barnes going to pay! I think Pam will be back! I help Christopher to kick will kick with Harris and Cliff!!

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE VICTORIA PRINCIPAL COME BACK AS PAM FOR SOME CAMEO APPEARANCES. IT WOULD COMPLETE THE SHOW. I LOVE THE SHOW

Pam needs more money! That’s what she is trying to say……….it will be a huge boost to the show. Love the new format. Awesome.
Pam if Bobby can come back from death so can you! lol

If Victoria won’t come back, recast Pam with Jacquiline Smith. She would be great with Patrick Duffy.

I want Victoria Principal to show up at Bobby;s hour of need (what happened to his cancer) and for them to fall into each others arms.

It would be too good if Victoria Principal came back to Dallas: It would be like having the old gang back together again.

Not having Victoria Principal is like Fleetwood Mac without Christine McVie, or ABBA without all 4 of Benny, Bjorn, Anni-Frid and Agnetha. Unimaginable!!

I grew up with the “Original” Dallas and faithfully watched it weekly with my family as a family. It just would not be right for Victoria Principal not to at lease make a cameo appearance. Dallas execs have failed if they can’t at least produce that. Yes I would wish for her to be the character of Pam but, if not, than possibly a mistaken double that Christopher crosses paths in a Swiss hotel or airport. That would be really shocking & cool too. Thanks.

Everybody has a twin somewhere in the world.

I think if she refuses to come back she doesn’t much care about the fans that supported her for all those years, and if that is the case then then i hope they recast with a big name and forget her ..period….personally i think she is a total Idiot if she refused to do it..all her loss!

Bring back Priscilla Presley too!! Jenna Wade would liven things up for Bobby some more.

I think John Ross is going to be a bigger stinker than JR ever was! And I love the show!!

I would love for Victoria and Priscilla to come back. As well as Gary and Valine

Hollywood veteran actress, Priscilla Pointer, best known to primetime soap opera fans for her role on CBS’ Dallas as Rebecca Barnes Wentworth passed away on Monday, April 28th. Pointer was 100.

Pointer had two famous “daughters.”  On Dallas, Priscilla played the mother to Victoria Principal’s Pam Barnes. The actress recurred in the role of Rebecca Barnes Wentworth in seasons 4-6, while appearing in nearly 44 episodes on the iconic 80’s series.

In real-life, Priscilla is the mother to actress Amy Irving, and in fact, the two appeared in more than a half-dozen movies together including in Brian De Palma’s 1976 horror classic Carrie, starring Sissy Spacek.

‘Dallas’ Star Linda Gray Signs on as Executive Producer of Proposed Holiday-Themed TV Movie to Shoot at ‘Southfork’

Published

Dallas star Linda Gray (ex-Sue Ellen Ewing) has signed on as executive producer of a proposed holiday-themed TV movie that would see her return to the former shooting location of her legendary primetime soap with a major twist.

Conceived as a love letter to the legions of Dallas fans, the project is a lighthearted romantic Christmas comedy, which finds Gray, and potentially Dallas co-star Patrick Duffy (ex-Bobby Ewing), back at Southfork Ranch playing all-new characters but in supporting roles to a pair of younger leads.

Teaming with Gray to shop the project is executive producer Larry Thompson, who cast the actress in last December’s hit Lifetime TV movie Ladies of the 80s: A Divas Christmas.

According to sources, one of Gray’s motivations for wanting to return to the real life Southfork Ranch in Parker, Texas, is to bid a proper farewell to the beloved filming location after TNT’s 2012-2014 Dallas reboot ended abruptly.

The TV-movie script, is written by former Hallmark Channel Home & Family producer William Keck (who also guest starred on General Hospital as Russell and gave Morgan Fairchild a lot of grief on-screen), was inspired by the 1937 film classic Topper, which cast Cary Grant and Constance Bennett as glamorous matchmaking ghosts.

Photo: ABC

In this upcoming project, Gray and potentially Duffy would portray a pair of former co-stars, now deceased, who are steadfastly guarding their sacred homestead from a Taylor Swift-type pop princess who takes up residence to shoot a music video for her new holiday song. As part of their plan, the spirits plot to sabotage the young star’s budding romance with the ranch’s handsome caretaker.

While the Southfork ranch routinely hosts annual, well-attended holiday celebrations, the property was remarkably never shown  decked out for Christmas in any Dallas episode.

This announcement follows the news that Lifetime is developing character-driven TV-movies themed from the legendary soap opera, All My Children, one also being holiday-themed.

So, what do you think about an holiday-themed TV-movie with Linda Gray as EP and co-star shot at Southfork? Would you be interested in seeing it come to fruition? Comment below.

Get ready for the feuding soap opera divas, when five actresses known for their signature primetime and daytime roles are brought together in Lifetime’s new holiday film, Ladies of the ’80s: A Divas Christmas.

Saturday night, December 2nd on Lifetime (8pm ET/7PM CT) marks the highly-anticipated holiday movie premiere featuring: Donna Mills (ex-Knots Landing), Nicolette Sheridan (ex-Knots Landing), Morgan Fairchild (ex-Falcon Crest et al), Linda Gray (ex-Dallas) and Loni Anderson (ex-WKRP in Cincinnati).

Here’s what we do know! In story, five alums from the long-running soap, The Great Lakes reunite for a live Christmas finale. Uh-oh!  Now take a look at the backstory of the colorful cast of characters (pay special attention to the clever twists on the actresses names!)

Photo: Lifetime

LAUREN EWING (Linda Gray) “Everyone thinks I’m so damn good all the time,” confesses the junk food-loving Lauren of her second act as a lifestyle guru. “I don’t know how Gwenyth Paltrow does it!”

DANA CUNNINGHAM (Donna Mills) Now a sitcom mom, she’s yet to make amends to ex-bestie Juliette after abruptly leaving the soap back in the day. Not that she hasn’t tried: “When I thought the world was going to end in Y2K,” Dana says, “I reached out to her, and she never called me back.”

LILY MARLOWE (Loni Anderson) After replacing Dana on ‘Great Lakes’, Lily never again found a role to win her acclaim. “What do I have to show for (my career)? An arc on  For the People – Shonda Rhimes’ only flop!”

JULIETTE MATHESON (Nicollette Sheridan) “She left me for L.A.,” the party girl turned fashion mogul recalls of Dana’s betrayal. Will their feud derail the entire event?

MARGEAUX ROBERTS (Morgan Fairchild) “Fasten your face-lifts, ladies, it’s gonna be a bumpy weekend!” The sassy grande dame of ‘Great Lakes’ sees the Juliette-Dana beef as the perfect escape from her own domestic drama.

Photo: Lifetime

Now, making this all the more hysterical is the director of The Great Lakes reunion special, which makes the five women live under the same roof, is its former child star Alex, who has gotten his ex-girlfriend, Nell to direct the finale. Meanwhile, in the subplot. the ‘Ladies of the ’80s’ come up with a plan to get Alex and Nell back together.

As with any good soap opera, there is a major food fight. Linda Gray shared with USA Today ,”The food fight was one take. And it was fabulous.” And of course, their is a bitch-fest slap-fest. Morgan Fairchild revealed, “Oh honey, we all got ours in. Mine was a simple, ‘How dare you?’ with a slap. But I was hoping for a punch.”

Photo: Lauren Dukoff/Lifetime

The movie’s EP, Larry Thompson, who is a Hollywood manager and has Donna Mills as a client, said that the entire scene peaks with the”slapfest coup de grâce.” What is that exactly? That is when Donna Mills pushes Nicollette Sheridan into a pool in a nod to Dynasty’s Lily bond battle between Dynasty’s Alexis (Joan Collins) and Krystle (Linda Evans).

In case you missed it previously, check out the trailer for Ladies of the ’80s: A Divas Christmas below, also starring Patrika Darbo, Alec Mapa, Mills real-life daughter, Chloe Mills, and Christopher Atkins with theme song by Tiffany.

Now let us know, will you be tuning in to the movie for a premise that should delight many a longtime soap fan? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
