Today’s a big day for Days of our lives capping off an even bigger week for the long running NBC soap opera.  First it was announced that the show will be sticking around through its renewal of September 2014, and today the soap airs its 12,000th episode!

Here is what to look for during the milestone episode:  Sami (played by Alison Sweeney, who coincidentally celebrates her 20-year anniversary on “Days” this week) and Rafe (Galen Gering) start getting close again. Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) finds an ally in her quest to win Daniel (Shawn Christian) away from Jennifer (Melissa Reeves). Meanwhile, Gabi (Camila Banus) prepares to marry Nick (Blake Berris) while carrying the baby of Will (Daytime Emmy winner Chandler Massey). All three continue to struggle with what role Will should play in the baby’s life. Before the episode’s end, someone throws a huge wrench into the wedding proceedings.

And that wrench will be huge! Keep your eyes peeled on Chad and Will!  Will Gabi’s secret finally be exposed?  Will Nick find some leverage to use against Will?  Make sure to catch today and all next week on DAYS and let us know what you think of the explosive reveals and how it impacts the characters on the canvas!

I kind of wish Gabi was not carrying Will’s child. If so many soaps can resurrect the dead with wild abandon, might this plot point be corrected?

Moreover though, go DAYS! I am late to this dance as I was an AMC and ATWT/OLTL guy. There is much to like in Salem.

Pretty sad when Nick and Gabi’s wedding is considered a huge event and used for this big 12,000 episode. I mean I will watch it but come on writers!

Couldn’t agree with you more! Yawn.

You’re right!

I agree too. Nick and Gabi catapulted in storyline over some of the most beloved days characters. It is sad how much they are making this story a central part of days. These two characters are the most hated as I read on all the boards. Why are they still there. So aggravating. I guess since they got rid of Dario who had Spanish terrets and big eyed Ari. They need to make gabi and rafe a part of the show by forcing story lines with them regardless if most of us could do without both Nick and Gabi.

I hope Gabi is exposed. I hate that the show’s 12,000th episode is based around their wedding and not something more interesting. ugh.

Agreed why would they be “the ” episode to watch. I have no clue why Gabi would ever be as rude to Sonny. She did the crime now own it instead if taking it out on one of the only stand up guys left.

So disappointed in days lately.

So looking forward to this episode!! CAN’T WAIT

Looking forward to this episode and the next ones coming . Things in Salem are really heating up with all different story lines.

This show is a major drag these days. Where’s Hope?

I know and Jon and Marlena are apart. Hate that. N Gabi just falling into all the gifts from the most notable Days figures are BEYOND ANNOYING. What has happened to days ?

It’s definitely not must-see-TV. The current storyline that really annoys me the most is the whole Daniel/Jen/Chloe mess. It’s dumb, it’s boring and it makes no sense that Chloe can just threaten Jennifer the way she has. I would love to see the Nicole/Eric thing move along a little faster too… Days is just missing the boat!

This is Sami’s and Austin’s wedding part 2- at her wedding Lucas found out Will was his child and not Austin’s and at this wedding everyone will find out Will is the father’s of Gabi’s baby. It will cause a temporary conflict with Sonny and Will but I am certain we will have a custody battle over this kid. The gay couple Sonny and Will going against homophobic Nick and his puppet Gabi. I think it might start from a domestic violence story line involving Nick and the clueless Gabi. Why, because Nick just strikes me as the type of guy who would resort to violence to control Gabi, which would prompt Will to seek custody. And if any this comes to pass, then Days has gotten way to predictable if I can guess story lines months in advance.

very well written. Your storyline will probably be better!

I agree 100%

I like the pairing of Nick/Gabi only because I hate both characters as separate people. Both should not be on the series, they’re both annoying and Nick’s continuous distaste for Will and Sonny is disgusting. And Gabi is still a nosey, wet dog who whines whenever she doesn’t get whatever it is that she desires. Another pair should have been the 12,000 episode like Brady and Madison, if she hadn’t been wrongfully killed off!

Yeah, I miss Madison. It’s sad they went from Bradison to Krady. Just wrong! Lol

What happened was this–it was discovered that Daniel is Will’s father, not Lucas. Daniel is the father of Gabi’s baby, not Will AND Daniel is Chad’s father, not Stefano! This will give Daniel even MORE story than he already has. Hell, eventually he will turn out to be his own father too!

LOL!! He does seem to be “it” man.

LOL

Oh that is too funny for words- I am waiting for the story line that Daniel is the Tom Horton reincarnated and then he can take over the opening sequence of the show too- These our Days of My Life-

I would have loved to see today’s episode but NBC felt it was more important to be the only network to show Obama and Afghan Pres. Kharzi.

If you have Soapnet, they’ll air it over the weekend.

It is on the NBC website

Where days fall is that GH can plan a 50th anniversary will excellent pacing and fan favorites, while days does a baby drama storyline for the milestone. What the hell?

Totally!

Days of Our Lives is boring as all hell. I will read the recaps, but I will not be watching, at least not for a few weeks. Sam’s love triangle and the hateable character of Nick interests me not in the least.

The pace of the show is sooooo slow and listening to soft-spoken Dr. Dan and Jennifer makes me want to stab myself.
I liked Nick when he first came on but his treatment of Will is disgusting. Sami’s going-nowhere love triangle is growing tiresome. I really think Christie Clark needs to return! I was actually rooting Chad on and hope we get some movement, but I doubt it.

EJ/Sami/Rafe…boring.
Nick/Gabi/Will/Sonny…boring.
Chad/Abby…boring.
Kritter/Brady/Chloe/Daniel/Jennifer…boring.

Where are the character-driven, umbrella storylines that took YEARS to tell? Back in the day supercouples weren’t forced upon us like Jennifer & Daniel. It took years for them to even comprehend that they were in love, let alone act on it. John & Marlena didn’t even kiss for what…almost a year? What about Bo & Hope doing their slow-burn romance before kicking it into overdrive? The writers think we want to see love-triangles and interrupted weddings without any substance behind it. EJ RAPED Sami – to even have her think about being with him is a dangerous message to send. Nick and his attempts to justify his homophobia are disgraceful and sorry, but Will wants to sit back and whine about how he was lied to…but is perfectly willing to lie to everyone in an attempt to keep Sonny, who he’s already living with?! The storylines are too slow AND too fast because the writers are writing the characters for their scripts rather than the scripts for the characters. Days needs to ditch the current HW’s & go back to the ones they had before – at least they had some storylines that were interesting and character based. Until they figure it out, they’ve lost more than a few viewers, myself included.

I agree 100%. Story lines only work if you can get your audience to empathize or relate to the characters on the screen. If the audience has no emotional investment in the character we don’t care what is on the screen, no matter how hot or trendy it is. It seems like something so basic that every writer should know. But right now they seem to be writing for ratings instead of for the audience and by doing that they are cutting off their nose to spite their face. Because if they wrote soaps like all good fiction, engage the viewer with characters we care about in reasonable stories, the ratings would come up and viewers like yourself would come back.
